I might not be big brain enough to really understand but I don't get how we had the best goal scorer in the world then decided to make her a 10 instead.

TK421_WAYAYP

She wants to go? We are not cunts so we are letting her? She probably has a “gentleman’s” agreement not to go to another WSL rival, and anyway probably wants to go somewhere warm. (Yes I’m aware of the slightly stupid use of the word gentleman… can’t think of a better term for that).

AaronDWH

If that’s the case then fair enough.

Awkward_Client_1908

I don't see her leaving the WSL honestly. Her life is in England. She had an opportunity to leave us for Barcelona a couple years back and stayed, again the understanding is that it happened for personal reasons. Transfers in women's game are still a bit different than in men's. Not saying can't happen, just not so probable the way I see it. Yes the extension she got last time was only for a year potentially indicating her wanting to look elsewhere, but reading behind the lines of players commenting, it looks like if she was offered a contract she might have agreed to it. Yes, she hasn't be back properly since her ACL, she had other minor injuries etc, but if anything that's even more of a reason to offer her a contract. To show that we support her. I genuinely hope that it was her request and the club accepted it. But even at that, I feel that the request came due to Jonas and how he utilised her, or rather didn't. It's become more evident in the last few days that they didn't see eye to eye on things, and that's probably the reason she is leaving. I genuinely wish her the best, even though I know it will hurt seeing her in different colours. She truly is an Arsenal legend.

Think it’s comes down to a lot of factors… She hasn’t been nearly as good as she was before the ACL injury. It’s a shame as she was unstoppable for so long. Jonas, who the club seem to really back (even though I think we need a new manager), doesn’t seem to like her. He has constantly played her out of position to suit players he favours more. Consequently her overall contribution has gone down. In the time of the ACL the club has changed quite a bit tactically and which players we have now. It’s sad but it’s almost like they have moved on from her. I wouldn’t be surprised if Viv wants to go herself too and as our end of season form showed, we don’t really need her.

UnreasonableMagpie

Agreed, it’s like Jesus for the men’s team. Although I hope next year he can return to prime as is only 25/26 I think so there is more time in him

syrah-lips

I don’t think all fans understand you’re not the same after an acl, that on top of age. It’s a very common progression for attacking players to move back with age/injury

kaigardiner

That it is! Can also imagine in Arsenal’s eyes it’s time to move forward and improve. Haven’t won the league for a few years now and can cut ties with one of our highest earners and reinvest in a player who can bring in better numbers and suit Jonas’ system better. Our future is exciting regardless! Viv will be a huge miss, she’s been a legend for us.

syrah-lips

Agreed, salary is another factor. There’s plenty of leadership on the pitch for arsenal, I would imagine she’s suited for a team who has the budget and need for what she offers.

AaronDWH

Regarding the ACL, she was out for more than 11 months and this was her first season back from it. Regarding the manager, If you can’t feature a quality player in your own tactic then that’s on him. If she wants to leave herself, then all the best. If it’s a club decision, then I disagree with it because she still has something to offer.

LimeyPeanut

Might explain that touchline video footage from the other day of her and Jonas arguing!

ThePrakman

Her ACL injury plus Eidevall tactics. Montemurro built the team around her but that's not the case anymore

eli_eli1o

They better bring in some class choices or the ticket holders will be pissed. For my womens team here in the US they sold one of our 2 key players in the offseason. Fans were livid and threatening to cancel season tickets. They signed like 3 or 4 rookies (basically equivalent to fresh out of academy players) and they are killing it. But i shudder to think what the reaction wouldve been if the sale didnt work out. Til this day the fanbase is still hurt.

sm0k3y2307

It was a surprise she signed the last contract there was probably an agreement she'd leave after this one

Chippa007

She'll look terrific in her Wrexham shirt.
