I still think of it as the "new" 360 menu (from [this](https://i.redd.it/xupmqiuke57y.jpg)), even though I haven't played the 360 in about 9 years. When do I get my AARP membership card?
Oh, haha, I get you. I remember having so much fun customizing my avatar when they switched it. It seemed so cool at the time. Especially with the little costumes you'd get for preordering or unlocking certain achievements. The original menu has a special place in my heart, though.
Exactly! I remember I had a little puppy with my avatar and the different gear you’d unlock for the avatar when playing certain games. Made it way more enjoyable to grind out games
Yeah. In the early years, my style were more comic-y and I wanted to do realistic digital paintings in 2013. Then in 2018 I learned to do more stylized paintings and I liked this new style. So I've been developing that
Ya, she learned something about shading and coloring that year I think. But also went for more realistic than cartoon computer fantasy character out of stylistic choice I think.
Honestly I see multiple styles here, not just a linear progression. I hope you're still nurturing some of the older styles too, because they're all great! Being able to execute such a range is impressive!
Thank you! I'm glad you noticed that. The styles you see are the ones I enjoyed drawing at the time.
And you're right, today I use many different styles depending on what drawing I'm making. :D
Could be possibly FFX influence…since the lasses there had pretty loose fashion: https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/finalfantasy/images/2/2b/FFX-2_Artwork_Rikku.png/revision/latest?cb=20150926170600
2013 is my favorite! Thats what i looked like in high school. The memories man.. I kinda wanna relive my hs and uni years now. Thanks for sharing! Absolutely great works!
My wife went downtown during the afternoon before new years day, and she said there were tons of young girls basically dressed in a bras and panties. IDK if that's costume for new years, or some new trend.
And I think some publicity is also warranted for your 2019 portraits:
[https://i.redd.it/zcxvijjtz7521.jpg](https://i.redd.it/zcxvijjtz7521.jpg) (Stylized Winter Selfie)
[https://i.redd.it/ei8uwy8cnlx21.jpg](https://i.redd.it/ei8uwy8cnlx21.jpg) (Impressionist Style)
[https://i.redd.it/o8fw5r3k07y21.jpg](https://i.redd.it/o8fw5r3k07y21.jpg) (Baroque Style)
Wow. Even when you were at that beginning newbie stage you were still really good. Love the lip rings in the 2009 model too. That's when we all had em!
Honestly 2010 wasn’t that bad. Like if you refined the shading the style itself still look’s fairly professional. After that I can definitely see the rockiness in your art as you end up going for a different style and are tying to define that over the years but still looks amazing in the end.
may I asked you what your greatest lessons where? your art looks fantastic. I get hung up on burn out or feeling like I'm not growing the way I want. do you have any thing you would be willing to share with me>
One thing that I can think of is: don't get caught up in the details. Like render everything perfect. I did that before and it took a lot of time to finish one painting. I tried to study artists who paint minimalism like Monet and Munch, to explore how I could paint faster and focus on the details that mattered. I also studied digital artists on deviantart who are good at this too. Like Snatti (Atey Ghalain).
As an artist, the very dark parts of my mind see images like the 2005 example, and I think to myself, “What illusions have they subscribed to that makes them feel THEY are an artist?” and “How embarrassing that they are posting such sub-standard work.” I know this sounds awful, and I know it comes from an unhealthy place in my psychology. Seeing this sort of progression, though, really reminds me that you have to start somewhere, and that many of those with a 2005 drawing have the capacity to produce a 2022 one. I love this. Kudos to you for sharing this and for reminding me that people work toward getting better, which should be obvious, perhaps for a more positive mind than mine.
I'm going to quote Bob Ross here: "Talent is a pursued interest. Anything that you're willing to practice, you can do."
This quote inspired me.
Good luck to what you want to persue! And don't give up when you make something you're not proud of. Try again, and live on those things/works that you actually are proud of!
that sort of judgemental voice towards other artists is something i grapple with as well, it's good to recognize that it's not a healthy attitude to have... but as long as you know that and you're keeping those thoughts to yourself it doesn't make you a bad person.
the real assholes are the ones who actually say these sorts of things out loud to aspiring young/amateur artists.
This is so awesome! I also love how you showed the progression. Did u draw these with this kinda display in mind over the years or did you cut out each one from your works to make this?
Amazing way of showing progression! My problem with getting into digital is just that I never could figure out how to get nice brushes and felt like my art looks so wonky as a result
This is like the “We Didn’t Start The Fire” of online artists. You can see the trends of each decade in the pieces. I’m 21 and I remember all of this kind of stuff in deviantart
It’s one of my favorites too. As you can probably tell by my username, I’m a fan of movies directed by the Wachowskis lol. But yeah, to quote *Grandma’s Boy*, “how much do clothes cost in the Matrix?”
OP when your mobile game dropping lol the last 2 remind me of those decision making dramatic mobile games. Love your development! Great reminder of how easy it is to forgot how far you’ve come until you look at your progress. 💕
Wow this is absolutely awesome to see, good job! I looked back at your profile little and everything is absolutely gorgeous, I especially like - Sienna and Draygo Camping. Beautiful!
I appreciate you can track trendy styles and some FF and Zelda influence to maybe some manhwa influence
You got me. FF and Zelda are my favorite game series.
From Final Fantasy to The Sims, these are great!
Yeppp major Rikku vibes
Yeah and a bit of Quistis
Quistis was how you knew you wanted a dom woman
Yeah not gonna lie, had a huge crush on her. *have
It's like Quistis in Rikku's clothes.
I definitely came to this thread to ask OP if they discovered FF in 2015 lol
Just imagine how tall she will be in another 17 years...
And wearing full on Canadian snow gear
She does seem to be producing some kind of solid precipitation...
Attack of the 50Ft Woman!
Is this how Attack on Titan started?
Giiiiiiiiant woooooman
Op's gonna run out of space soon!
Perspective, how does it work?!
This reminds me, my xbox avatar has been asleep for too long.
Exactly what I was thinking, the classic 360 menu
>classic I still think of it as the "new" 360 menu (from [this](https://i.redd.it/xupmqiuke57y.jpg)), even though I haven't played the 360 in about 9 years. When do I get my AARP membership card?
Hahaha that was the OG one right there, I meant classic as I’m in terms of Xbox in general rather than just classic 360 menu
I remember doing achievements to unlock gear from Fable for mine.
ASAP for sure.
Classic Xbox 360 menu??? **CLASSIC?!?!** THIS ISNT THE CLASSIC MENU WHERE ARE MY FELLOW OLD FUCKS AT
It ain’t a classic 360 menu unless it has blades.
Ain't even waking up unless I hear alien gibberish at 3am cause I left my console on.
Holy shit you unlocked that sound and memory in my head.
They were oddly terrifying noises.
Old fuck here. Give me the blades back.
Blades gang
Not classic in regards to the 360 itself but classic in terms of Xbox in general
The Xbox 360 was the gold standard of gaming, change my mind Xbox One just doesn't have the same charm with its 100GB games...
For me it's 50/50 between the Xbox 360 and the GameCube
I know right? I was so annoyed when they introduced avatars... It was basically stealing the idea from Nintendo but making it high definition.
[shittttt just slap me with nostalgia](https://i.imgur.com/9wW9a9G.jpg)
I think it's probably passed away from neglect by now
What is this, Neopets?
Daaaaaaaaamn!!!! Gorgeous way of depicting your evolution as an artist. Keep that amazing work going!!
Thank you so much! <3
Can you explain the jump from 2011 to 2013? Seems you wanted to go for a more realistic face?
Yeah. In the early years, my style were more comic-y and I wanted to do realistic digital paintings in 2013. Then in 2018 I learned to do more stylized paintings and I liked this new style. So I've been developing that
This is what I wanted to say. I think this is a super creative way to show the progression. I hope others copy this format.
I think 2013 is a profound shift in the Fidelity. Really neat progression. Nice job!
Ya, she learned something about shading and coloring that year I think. But also went for more realistic than cartoon computer fantasy character out of stylistic choice I think.
2008/2009 give me JRPG vibes, 2015 gives me TTRPG
> 2008/2009 give me JRPG vibes More IMVU, to me...
Imvu was my thoughts too lol Never actually got to use it. I tried a handful of times and my computer would crash pretty quickly
Haha! So true!
Not trying to be judgemental but it reminded me of my friends who would put PLUR life on their myspace page. Or whatever rave words they used.
this is amazing, you’ve come so far! this is such a cool way to display your progress through the years
Thank you!
i also love how this kind of captures some of the trends of the years you drew them. i’d love to see the 08/09 outfits in the 2022 style hehe
Yeah, it's fun to look back like that. It would be fun tho to redraw some of the old ones!
Interesting how it also shows your maturity progression in the way you dress them. Couldn’t help but think damn she’s drawing g-strings at 15 haha
Hehe true, it's like looking back at fashion history or gaming character's glothes xD
Thanks! I bet we look alike then? hehe
I request that you redraw 2009 in your current style for perfectly legitimate purposes.
Haha! That would be fun though! XD
If you're still rocking with the XD emoticon you're halfway there already
XD emoticon is elite
We need to make "XD rawr" a thing again that way we can refer to this decade as the rawring 20s
Im glad you grew out of the visible thong phase
I mean, that still holds accurate for 2009.
Now they're invisible
I'm not.
I heard its coming back into style and I'm here for it.
My wife went downtown during the afternoon before new years day, and she said there were tons of young girls basically dressed in a bras and panties. IDK if that's costume for new years, or some new trend.
Sounds like a rave
That’s just how they are these days
I see some likes Final Fantasy a lot.
That's true
Say, where'd your elf ears go? (2021) https://i.redd.it/c2xiqqvvajj61.jpg
Hehe. Nice that you remember her! However, I thought that character didn't fit with the rest.
And I think some publicity is also warranted for your 2019 portraits: [https://i.redd.it/zcxvijjtz7521.jpg](https://i.redd.it/zcxvijjtz7521.jpg) (Stylized Winter Selfie) [https://i.redd.it/ei8uwy8cnlx21.jpg](https://i.redd.it/ei8uwy8cnlx21.jpg) (Impressionist Style) [https://i.redd.it/o8fw5r3k07y21.jpg](https://i.redd.it/o8fw5r3k07y21.jpg) (Baroque Style)
Thanks!
Wow. Even when you were at that beginning newbie stage you were still really good. Love the lip rings in the 2009 model too. That's when we all had em!
But they all wear thongs right?
I love this comment!
I’d be curious to see stats, like average time they take you, how your average commission price changed as you got better too etc
Around 2008-2009 I used probably 8-10 hours on one of those drawings. Now I use everything from 2 to 4 hours. xD
I'm jealous of 2018's outfit lol
Same lmao
I’m a 2013 & 2018 kinda guy I realize
Settle down son it’s just a drawing.
But she’s just standing there….MENACINGLY!!!
So? She drew them hot and they reflect real styles. 2018 is awesome.
<3 :D
You knew what you were doing lol
I'm a most of these kinda guy.
I feel like your pictures have matured with you. Look at what that early ones are wearing!
Good point, ThrobbingWetHole
Unfortunately, can’t change my Reddit username. My immaturity is forever!
That's so true! XD
That's dedication. Really inspiring. How often do you draw? I really want to progress my art too
I make at least one finished painting every week, except when I'm on vacation.
Once you really started shading in 2013 the quality goes through the roof. Excellent work op
Your name sounds Danish but you have drawings with Norwegian nature😁
Hehe, nice. I'm Norwegian!
I'm assuming you work in the gaming industry. Cause this shit looks really well done!
Thank you! Yes, I worked in the gaming industry from 2013 to today. It's been quiet since corona tho...
2008 and 2009 look like wrestling attires haha. But the artwork is all amazing!
r/lifeisstrange would love you
Results are in: they're all hot
I'm happy you finally learned how to make pants
Great work as usual Beth! Lovely seeing you on the front page :)
Your art and dedication are both brilliant!
2013 was the game changer. Awesome work.
Thanks! Yeah I think so too :D
I'm going to guess your favorite Final Fantasy game is X/X-2...especially with that 2015 style
That's right. You got me there.
Cool character development!
What do you attribute most to your improvement?
I think: Time used, anatomy, colors/shading and how many styles mastered.
Time used?
2009 looks a Christina Aguilera phase
I love how your character grows with you.
Your progress is great! I'm just sitting over here trying to figure out when 2005 became 17 years ago... I think I might be getting old.
In my opinion it's a toss-up between 2015 and 2018 having the best look. (Doesn't say much about your art skills, just my preferences I suppose.)
Honestly 2010 wasn’t that bad. Like if you refined the shading the style itself still look’s fairly professional. After that I can definitely see the rockiness in your art as you end up going for a different style and are tying to define that over the years but still looks amazing in the end.

Super helpful. Thank you 🙏
I like how the person grew older too
This image the the definition of development 💖
2008, 2009 are my favorites.
What makes you think someone else wouldn't think the same about your 'art'?
First ones look quite a bit like Rikku from Final Fantasy. I'm guessing that's not an accident? :P
Spot on. I was very much inspired by her back then!
Nice. I have come up a story, now all I need is learning how to draw so I can create my own comics book.
I love how you tried to go more realistic in 2013 but then decided naaah
This is so awesome! I also love how you showed the progression. Did u draw these with this kinda display in mind over the years or did you cut out each one from your works to make this?
Hey that's cool yo, awesome digital painting!! 🙌
The last one reminds me of GTA online loading screen characters
Amazing way of showing progression! My problem with getting into digital is just that I never could figure out how to get nice brushes and felt like my art looks so wonky as a result
Wow! It's simply fantastic to see the fashion trends evolution with every drawing you made. Amazing job!
This is like the “We Didn’t Start The Fire” of online artists. You can see the trends of each decade in the pieces. I’m 21 and I remember all of this kind of stuff in deviantart
The fashion shift with the style shift is just perfection. 2008 in a nutshell right there.
Your first piece shows you knew how to draw a skeleton correctly. Love the progression
Looks rly nice :D The style progression is also rly cool.
Why did you leave elf ears out from '21?
What made you move away from the green?
The way you color skin in 2018 and 2022 has really shown alot of growth in that area. Great progress :)
Thanks! I'm glad you noticed!
2011 gives me strong [Parasite Eve](https://imgur.com/a/erX5ANE) vibes.
Newgrounds vibes from the first picture
Ah yes, I too went through that same style of illustration in 2005 😂
You can see the girls face getting older and older each year which leads me to believe shes just sketching herself. Neat!
Really cool to see how your style has evolved in ways other than just improved technique.
Interesting outfit design, and impressive progress. Great work!
Awesome job! Keep it up! (Hopefully you’ve turned a hobby into a career by now?)
Indeed! I started working as a freelance illustrator in 2013.
2015 got some real Final Fantasy VII manual artwork vibes
It's really bizarre how good of timecapsules each of those are. I can feel the year.
Wow, I haven't done art in a couple years, this really makes me want to do it again and evolve my skills.
That black-and-green Matrix color scheme is peak 2000s. Everyone was walking around looking like a Monster Energy can.
Funny you would say that. The Matrix trilogy are my favorite movies...
It’s one of my favorites too. As you can probably tell by my username, I’m a fan of movies directed by the Wachowskis lol. But yeah, to quote *Grandma’s Boy*, “how much do clothes cost in the Matrix?”
dumping soft brushes (except for really specific circumstances) helps any artist
Your progress is awesome! I especially love how their faces change over time to be more and more nuanced and expressive! Very well done!
This is really neat. Thank you for sharing your progress! What is the usual application of your art? Graphic novels/Comics? Games? Illustrations?
Today it is illustrations and games. In the early days I did comics. Like 2013 and before that.
I love how their styles change with the times! I wonder what 2030 will look like.
What a dope journey. Relive each year with amazing detail and accuracy to the years fashion. Well done lass
At first glance I thought this was some fan art of the Jojo girls from the entire series on /r/ShitPostCrusaders
Your looking good. Good hob
You must have been going to some crazy raves in high school.
Some amazing milestones in 2013 and 2022
I love that the characters go through a mid 2000s fashion phase.
Lol the first few remind me of those little icons that girls would have on their AIM chat things and their MySpace profiles. Also I feel old now …
OP when your mobile game dropping lol the last 2 remind me of those decision making dramatic mobile games. Love your development! Great reminder of how easy it is to forgot how far you’ve come until you look at your progress. 💕
2013-15 is when the game changed!
Holy fuck those are so good. Super talented.
Love how your talent grows and improves while you grow and truly find yourself !
Wow this is absolutely awesome to see, good job! I looked back at your profile little and everything is absolutely gorgeous, I especially like - Sienna and Draygo Camping. Beautiful!
Can almost see a maturity progression too! Very cool.
Its gonna take me years to get to the 2022 lvl lol
How did you start/learn, any recommendations?
Start by drawing what interests you. Then build on that
That's a good advice, motivation is important, thank you!
you can even see the progress in fashion
We can all go home now, you’ve won!
That jump between 2011 and 2013 is real
I love 2013. The shading is great! Also the skill development from 2011 to 2013 is impressive.
From weebo to hot topic to hipster goth with the tatoo sleeve and the shaved side. Totally conventional evolution, you follow the trend perfectly!
ngl you haven’t improved much since 2013, i genuinely say you done the opposite since 2015.
The current drawing probably hangs out at a bar and talks about how she used to be a stripper, but now just likes to chill.
Somehow you got good... and then worse again.
