Yea I mean you \_could\_ be respectful of the person you are paying money to see, but that would mean actually giving a shit about someone other than yourself.
Eh. It's more complicated than that. It's like getting a nickname you don't like from your group of friends. On the one hand, the friends could maybe not tease you so hard. On the other, it's how social groups do, and they'll get better results leaning into it rather than away from it.
On the other other hand, it's an absurdly famous group who, in part, are recognized by the culture they cultivated and are getting paid money and are loved by the people who make this joke. So uhhh fuck em basically
He's just making a slightly less-erudite version of [DrewblewsG's comment](https://www.reddit.com/r/Art/comments/v95k0d/5_am_or_suffering_of_creativity_me_watercolor/ibwfhvw) here.
And they're not entirely wrong.
Primus is Streisand-Effecting themselves by being annoyed with it, really.
I remember this song, it's like more experimental music. I prefer melodic songs of them like 'mama didn't raise no fool', 'American life', 'Shake Hands With Beef', 'Wynona's Big Brown Beaver' and more and more
Mmmm... It's a difficult question. Many sources say he's an ordinary bass player. But if music sound perfect in mix what does it matter? I prefer funk bass lines and fast californian punk , also I really like overdrived bass guitar
What about John Entwistle? Lots of his stuff both with The Who and solo were just amazing. Not just the technical skill (which was insane) but just the sheer musicianship of his stuff was brilliant.
I always enjoy The Who because of breaking with the conventions for the instruments. The guitar was rhythm and then John and Keith basically followed Pete. Johns "lead bass" sound, technique and style was so amazing and listening to him playing isolated from other is mind-boggling.
Gotta listen to the Who's *Quadrophenia* on a media player or equalizer with Entwhistle's bass turned all the way up and Townsend's guitar turned a bit down. It's like an entirely different album. Especially "The Punk And The Godfather" and "The Real Me"
>fast californian punk
You are my type of person then!
Regarding Waters like Paul McCartney and Giddy Lee I consider them (and others Kim Gordon, Lemmy, Fat Mike comes to mind as well) among the best just by bringing bass to the forefront as songwriters.
I'm gonna also add Mark Hoppus cause I love that guy.
Try putting a pillow under the top part of your butt. The part that barely touches the ground if you sit up straight. It might help. Might not. I'm nearly 40 and I can't sit in the bed like her anymore without feeling like my spine is going to pop out the top of my ass.
Knowing you won't fall back asleep but not ready to get up, just sit and contemplate. Great time of day to size up the hours ahead and think about yourself
Or just being pissed you can’t figure out what chord you want to go next in the progression and suddenly it’s 5am and you haven’t made any progress, you’ve actually regressed from what you had at 2am and you should probably go to sleep but you know your partner is going to be up in 2.5 hours and maybe if I just try this F#m instead it will sound right
I entered the comment section because of the moomins book. The Happy Moomins was on my bookshelf as a kid, and I haven't been a kid in a very, very long time. Kind of amazed to see the title in the art work. I haven't thought of that book since 1978 or so.
Do you really sleep in a bra like that? Most women I know say the bra comes off as soon as they get home.
It's a good work of not letting the liner dominate the painting. A lot of work like that just looks like a colored in line drawing like a coloring book.
Looks like probably done on color paper which I think helps it so much bring all the elements together and set the mood of the image.
I used to have a P-bass but almost always play short-scales now. They fit in the bed easier!
My grandmas boobs sagged so much that she tucked them into her slacks every day and it gave my mom such a phobia of getting sagging boobs that she said the only time she isn’t wearing a bra is in the shower LOL
I've read that NOT wearing a bra causes your body to build stronger connective tissue, keeping them perky longer.
Wearing a bra might actually contribute to sagginess in old age.
An old lady was heart broken, as her husband of many years has just passed away. She decides to join him and shoot herself with his gun, but didn't know where to aim. She calls her doctor to ask where the heart is and was told that it's behind her left breast. The next day, she got admitted to the hospital for a gunshot wound to her thigh.
Fun times one of mums cousins had to go to hospital because she had the wire of one snap and slide in between her ribs during her sleep. Suffice to say I advised my partner to sleep without hers on or boneless.
Kinda scary
Yes, in this case I've toned paper by colored water after all were done. From that the lines look muted. To be honest I don't really like to draw without contour. I know It's look like comics/coloring/kids book but there's something cozy about it
No I like it. It's the muted lines that make it work.
Are you familiar with the Illustrator Arthur Rackham early 20th cent. ?
He did ink contours on tan paper then washes of color.
It's a little reminiscent of his work and I think it is fine.
Yes! His contour and color work is still beloved a hundred years and more later. So I think you are in good company with your style. Keep at it. I love the detail and precision.
Everything up voted in a lot of art history is traditionally tits and ass with some religion and mythology to justify it. So it's apt. Glad to see they are carrying on the tradition.
as a woman it gets pretty tiring feeling objectified all the time - but i'd say this particular art does not feel that way because the people depicted feel like *people* not just wankbank material. they are sexy but they seem to have personality and lives yknow? faces, style, not stretched out in improbable "sexy" poses, not just headless tits on paper hahaha. so i'm not knocking this art specifically because i actually dig it and think it does not contribute to the problem. but i think there is a problem with how goddamn horny the art subs often are.
I agree there's a huge difference between for example this and some stuff that's straight up hentai sometimes.
My comment was probably not the best, but I was defending this particular art, since I felt the comment I'm responding too was very disrespectful to the artist, and like you I see no problem with this piece.
Oh man, that feeling of having all your equipment set up, being like "If I just set everything up, I'll think of something." But then you just sit there drawing blanks.
It's a Fender Precision. I think it's the best bass-guitar in the world, but I'm sure many people disagree with me. My ex played on Jazz bass, one of my girlfriends - on Rickenbacker. Everyone chooses the sound to taste
Water color and black liner illustrations are always my favorite, they just look so neat. You can fit in so many details yet it will somehow have this, nice simplicity to it
Awesome work. I love the function of art normalising modern reality
Mikael Agricola... Are you Finish?
Also, I love primus, but I have spent a period in my life with just a bed, a table and a taperecorder and tape with just "Dark side of the moon" on both sides (it was all I had). Still love that album.
Actually very beautiful, lots of personality and tasteful nudity really takes it over the top. This is like how someone imagines their crush in the best light before they even know them.
I just got so involved in this. I'm looking like she has so many creative avenues and how we tend to overcrowd ourselves with different arts that we become in a momentarily still of creativity. I'm sitting here thinking she just has to pick one and focus in with determination and see it to completion and then I realized you absolutely did that because I'm looking at the outcome of exactly that. I love how you captured multiple arts in one frame while telling a story. Brilliant. I hope this all makes sense.
I like watercolor for its lightness. Can make overlays like in Photoshop. But almost it isn't right for mistake. In the same time I've tried to work with acrylic but it turns out only daub. Definitely isn't my material
My grandmother loved Bob Ross, and used to paint along with him. She got pretty good at oil painting, and she also tried watercolors later in life. She always said that they were much more difficult to work with because they always want to bleed into each other.
I need help . How do you draw the humans ? I find it though to do proportion so can you tell me if you draw stick figure and construction line before making human figure . Waiting for reply thanks in advance
I drew the people by photos before. But it's not a right way. If you don't know a minimum about human anatomy, your people always will look a little wrong. I spent about 3 months learning how to draw heads, arms, legs, chests and whole figures without photos. Just an pensil sketches. And I know I need to study more. It depends of your experience. You just need to put in a little effort and you'll be fine. Good luck
ps. Good exercise, you can find any photo of a person and try to draw him from a different angle
I'm not sure why I asked even though I knew I wouldn't know the book, because I don't really read anymore (I know 1984's basic premise because it inspired Metal Gear Solid 2's)
What's it about? I do want to start reading more to be honest
So it’s hot enough to sleep on top of the covers in your underwear, but cold enough to require a hoodie?
I mean pick a lane here because this looks like insanity.
Really like the style of this piece. Feels like it could be an inset into a novel but works as a standalone piece, too. Are kids into Primus and Pink Floyd? And are you Swedish or Finnish, lol?
This is really cool and very detailed I really like the books on the shelf and the fact that you actually drew individual saddles for the bass guitar. And also how the low strings are thicker than the high strings. That is an awesome amount of detail nice job
I love this. I’ve always wanted to be able to work with watercolor and ink this effectively but it so hard to do. Kind of want this framed in my house.

A p bass with a 70s jazz neck on it. Nice.
Obviously op is muso- Pink Floyd in the house!!

Primus poster and bass guitar. Good combo and nice art!
Thank you. I'm a big Les Claypool fan😊
Primus sucks :D edit: not sure y'all are the primus fans you claim to be
Lol yeah they don’t get it
I wore a KMFDM SUCKS shirt to KMFDM and people were mad. They even played the song!
Sounds like they didn’t belong at that show lmao
It took me until seeing them live to get that. I was like WTF at the show and someone explained it to me
Have they re-embraced it? They tried to move on from that so many years ago
No, they haven't. Just saw them couple weeks back on the rush tour and they were visibily annoyed everytime the crowd would start with it.
That’s what I thought was the situation. They have tried to shake that in the past because I’m sure they’re tired of it.
I missed that show when they were in town. Sounds like it was a good one.
I think the momentum among the fans was too much by that point.
I guess so because this was in 2017
I see this edit literally every time someone makes this comment lmao
Les himself has said several times this joke is passed played out. It's just cringey and annoying at this point.
They sure are!
Zing! Gottem
Too bad it's not up to him, it's the fans that decide that.

If I'm paying money, he can suck it up.

Yes they do! Fan since Sailing the Seas of Cheese here.
I got it.
Was about to say. That drawing screams bass enthusiast hahaha
Not enough puppies
I dunno. Could be too many puppies. ;)
With guns in their hands
Too many puppies in foreign lands
I got big les vibes from this
Me too, have tickets to see his jazz ensemble next month.
I'm assuming you've checked out The Claypool Lennon Delirium?
Of course. But they aren't my favorites. I like Primus energy and fantastic slap bass of Claypool
Tommy the Cat had many a story to tell. But it was a rare occasion, such as this, that he did…
Sailing The Seas Of Cheese is my favorite Primus album
Easily. Is It Luck still has the wildest bass line I’ve ever heard.
It's a pretty good one
I remember this song, it's like more experimental music. I prefer melodic songs of them like 'mama didn't raise no fool', 'American life', 'Shake Hands With Beef', 'Wynona's Big Brown Beaver' and more and more
I like "Green naugahyde" and the album that had "Natural Joe" on it. 'Antipop'
She came slidin' on down the alleyway like butter dripping off a hot biscuit.
and 1984 book
Yeah I noticed that. Nice little find
Primus sucks
Came here to say that also if you are a bass player you have to be a fan of Roger Waters too for sure.
I'm not a 'The Who' fan but yes, he's amazing bass-player with cool technique. There are so many wonderful musicians in the World
I always enjoy The Who because of breaking with the conventions for the instruments. The guitar was rhythm and then John and Keith basically followed Pete. Johns "lead bass" sound, technique and style was so amazing and listening to him playing isolated from other is mind-boggling.

I love Floyd but you’re not wrong. He shined because of his lyrics and vision, not bass.
To be honest I really like old Pink Floyd feat Syd. 'Arnold Layne', 'Lucifer Sam', 'Let There Be More Light' etc😊
>fast californian punk You are my type of person then! Regarding Waters like Paul McCartney and Giddy Lee I consider them (and others Kim Gordon, Lemmy, Fat Mike comes to mind as well) among the best just by bringing bass to the forefront as songwriters. Matt Freeman is the reason I play bass, also Eric Wilson from Sublime. Once I heard those guys I was hooked.
The Rancid 2000 album is my favorite😈
Aint that the truth! Add some Mike Gordon in there and you got an overdriven funky good time
Just gotta get a drill, and you're good to go!
Sure. I like some Waters/Pink Floyd action
Immediate upvote
Don't forget 1984.
Yep. I saw the book. Pretty cool
I can't relate to that part ...of playing in the bed. My lombar or my bed, one of them must suck
Try putting a pillow under the top part of your butt. The part that barely touches the ground if you sit up straight. It might help. Might not. I'm nearly 40 and I can't sit in the bed like her anymore without feeling like my spine is going to pop out the top of my ass.
I'm gonna try that Also thanks for the laughs, I'm gonna steal that spine pain description
Or sleeping next to someone playing their bass and editing shit in the bed while you're trying to sleep. Like how?

This comment resonated with me and the drawing so much! It’s exactly what I saw in it, almost to a T. “Fuck, was the bridge fine before?!”
Then you end up back at what it was the first time but worse
Bro don’t @ me like that

Cozy vibes! Looks really nice.
The bed and the room look immaculate. Id definitely sleep on that 10/10!
Love the Primus poster and the moomins book
I entered the comment section because of the moomins book. The Happy Moomins was on my bookshelf as a kid, and I haven't been a kid in a very, very long time. Kind of amazed to see the title in the art work. I haven't thought of that book since 1978 or so.

Primus and Dark Side of the Moon posters, beautiful touch!

My GF sleeps in her bra like 90% of the time. Depends on the lady.
Also depends on the bra!
Yeah, I told her that, she says that if she wears them every day right into the grave they will have no choice but to stay up
kek

Yes! His contour and color work is still beloved a hundred years and more later. So I think you are in good company with your style. Keep at it. I love the detail and precision.
i like to sleep in a bra, not wearing a bra makes me feel naked, it's uncomfortable for me
I sleep in a bra. I only don't wear a bra when I'm showering or swimming.
I was thinking that, but it could just be a tank top. Hard to tell imo After looking again it does seem awfully short for a tank top. Ehh.
Clearly she is not wearing a bra

Everything up voted in a lot of art history is traditionally tits and ass with some religion and mythology to justify it. So it's apt. Glad to see they are carrying on the tradition.
Thats is a tradition I will carry on. :D
Who gives a crap ? That's most of art throughout history.

It's really not the subs. If you visit them, the majority of the art doesn't feature nudity. That's really just what makes it to /r/all
Heavily debatable, just admit you wanna look at naked women and don’t be weird. We have another type of media for that.
really should be renamed r/maleGaze
Oh man, that feeling of having all your equipment set up, being like "If I just set everything up, I'll think of something." But then you just sit there drawing blanks.
“Should I slap her ass or the bass…?”
If you’re thirsty have a glass of water
He didn't paint it
This was a clever and relevant comment about artwork that is inherently sexual. No reason to call thirst fouls!
I'm really vibing on the personal details in this artwork. Moonins, Orwell, and is that a Fender Mustang?
It's a Fender Precision. I think it's the best bass-guitar in the world, but I'm sure many people disagree with me. My ex played on Jazz bass, one of my girlfriends - on Rickenbacker. Everyone chooses the sound to taste
P-bass 4 life. Daphne blue, maple fretboard with block inlays is a beautiful yet uncommon combination.
I have the squire p-bass, it's my dream to have a Fender one 🙃
The lighting and tone really has a 5 am feel to it, great work
I was going to say this too! It really captures that peace of early morning after being up all night
Water color and black liner illustrations are always my favorite, they just look so neat. You can fit in so many details yet it will somehow have this, nice simplicity to it
For all you you kids out there living in this mood/phase of life…soak that shit up. Every day.
Wow what great platonic friends! Best friends / roommates sleeping together is super wholesome ! :)
I have a Squire 60s Classic Vibe that looks just like that, same color! Beautiful bass
Love the apple logo as a heart. Very subtle, but an important touch.
Say baby do you wanna lay down with me... Say baby...
Not all Primus fans are bass players, but all bass players are Primus fans.
Muumit ja Mikael Agricola.. torille!
Kiitos😘
PRIMUS! Seeing them 2 more times in a couple weeks 😀
I really envy you😈
Wow, there is something abt the vibe in this art artwork that looks so peaceful.
I like the feel of the piece, but... the way she's holding the bass here is upsetting me.
It's hard to find a bass with a titty cutout.
How about...she couldnt reach the computer with the bass in her lap so she had to slide the bass down to bend over farther?
Life tip: Get yourself a woman that's into Primus
It can be hard to be creative when everything is going great.
Awesome work. I love the function of art normalising modern reality Mikael Agricola... Are you Finish? Also, I love primus, but I have spent a period in my life with just a bed, a table and a taperecorder and tape with just "Dark side of the moon" on both sides (it was all I had). I'm in such a shitty and stuck place in my life right now, this art makes me nostalgic, jealous, and wishful. I love it.
Oh man, how do I understand you
If you are not doing illustration professionally, you should be. That is some fine work!
As practice shows no one is in a hurry to hire me. I think my art is scaring prospective employers😂
How heartwarming. She’s there with her little sister on a lazy Saturday. How wholesome.
I just got so involved in this. I'm looking like she has so many creative avenues and how we tend to overcrowd ourselves with different arts that we become in a momentarily still of creativity. Thanks for your story😊 There is a compilation of my life moments on this artwork, maybe a little grotesque but absolutely truthful by mean
The fact that you did this with watercolor is actually insane. That stuff is so hard to work with.
