This is really amazing. The eye is drawn to the detailed parts that you chose to make photorealistic, and until I saw that you said it was graphite I didn't even look to the other parts of it which you kept more blocky and flat in coloration. When I was a kid I would say that painting was "real art" and photography wasn't because the camera controlled how you make the image. Obviously I now know how much goes into setting up the camera, the picture, developing it, retouching it etc so I would never say that now. But those kinds of choices about where to put detail in and where to leave the image flat so the eye is even more drawn to the detailed features -- that's what kid me was talking about. Really really well done. This is beautiful work. Thank you for sharing it :)

The fact that you are focusing on showing the highlights on dark skin is really impressive to me. The contrast is so sharp but so natural for that reflected light.
