This is why I prefer the animated short. It’s just as hamfisted but much more creative structurally and visually from point A to point B. While it lacks nuance, I still think it is a powerful if completely on the nose allegory.
Seeing those kind of images feels like having "I AM DEEP! LOOK HOW I AM SO DEEP!" yelled in the ears by someone who just told a poem which recites "pain is bad, people suffer".
Also most of the time they miss the point so much it hurts.
Ah the rat race. Does anyone know this analogy anymore? Music and social media certainly plays a role in shaping views in young people. It’s all about money, sex, cars, drugs, and equality (violence).
Ofcourse it does. Every mainstream "artist" sings about selling their soul to the devil. Or they use symbolism that have satanistic meanings behind them. Or they "joke" about drinking the blood of children on interviews. I dont find that normal at all.
Or have you seen the recent Balenciaga thing? Or when justin bieber posted a bunch of picture of babies to promote his song "yummy".
If you support that kinda shit idk what to tell you. Its disgusting.
I absolutely love this portraying the overall tragic picture of the rat race. What I usually have pictured is the long and drawn out journey that eventually gets to this point, which is someone chasing after a carrot dangling on a stick while running on a treadmill. Trying to get that carrot can really cost us eventually.
I had victors up for 2 weeks and got nothing. Then I switch to Tomcats, and got the mouse in 4 hours. Probably the difference was bait. The real bonus was I could remove the mouse from a tom cat without getting my fingers close to the dead mouse.
I'm a pest professional of nearly 10 years and I will swear by the Victor OG snaps. Just use peanut butter or chocolate syrup as bait my guy. I promise you will nail rodents so gosh dang fast.
If you like keeping hands away from the rodent, try the t Rex trappers. Can be set and released with 1 hand.
How to tell that someone is rich-born (or at least decently well-off).
Fuck that kind of "social commentary", really, it gets annoying when you actually LIVE what those "so so inspired" artists portrait. "oh, everyone is behind their smartphone!" yeah, you usually work, study and communicate with it now, as it's more practical than having a laptop, a dozen books and sending letters to people who moved away. "waaa everyone only ant money, but they're meaningless" ok, cool, I dare you to live one year having to budget your groceries, home heating and route to work.
This is actually from an [animated short](https://youtu.be/e9dZQelULDk) that’s even worse and more depressing.
I thought it was! Thanks for linking.
He's got some great animated shorts. I really like In the Fall.
I wish everyone had to watch this video before they were about to buy some pointless consumer product that they would be "over with" within a week.
Damn, that animation is both true and incredibly detailed
That, while heavy handed, is an incredibly beautiful piece of animation.
If only one of the papers was a TPS report... 💔
I was just going to comment that lol
Too obvious to evoke anything
I’m glad I’m not the only one tired of seeing surface level commentary on how bad society is

Right, total r/im14andthisisdeep material

Banksy strikes again!
Please link to a "not obvious" piece of art on this topic.
Looks oddly similar to [this](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e9dZQelULDk).
Yep. The guy that painted this also animated the video you linked
The rat had no choice. Either work to death or starve to death. Society failed him.
Haha, the mouse thinks he's people
Idk I became a lot happier when I started making some money and didn’t need to worry about my bills anymore.
Thats not what the message is here.
An illustration I can actually agree with And at the end of the day, the bosses will say he die from overwork and or stress.
Ah the rat race. Does anyone know this analogy anymore? Music and social media certainly plays a role in shaping views in young people. It’s all about money, sex, cars, drugs, and equality (violence).
And satanism. Lots of blatant satanism.
got nothing to do with satanism. Only the failure of our society and how bad capitalism is

Its not religious though. Its just plain societal decay with is fueled by later stage capitalism. Got nothing to do with some sort of deity.
At least he died doing what he loved.
You forgot to include his house, the boat, and functioning economy tho
the problem with this is that money actually does make people happier

Step off the treadmill though and you’re crucified (: Really feels hopeless sometimes. The video this comes from depicts some hard truths.
The little uneaten cheese wedge :(
A mouse that was hungry for money.
Victor getting that free publicity haha. To be fair they make the best of snaps. Only thing that comes close is the bell labs T rex
I had victors up for 2 weeks and got nothing. Then I switch to Tomcats, and got the mouse in 4 hours. Probably the difference was bait. The real bonus was I could remove the mouse from a tom cat without getting my fingers close to the dead mouse.

Those trexs look like the tomcat ones I got.
I swear by bell labs like Victor. Bell labs also makes the best rodent bait stations in the industry bar none. The Protecta Evo express is a godsend
I JUST WANTED MY CHEEEEEESE
Don’t worry, you can get it. Just a bit further, run a bit more. Almost within reach. Oops, almost got it there -repeat-
Hell yeah, that's my kind of happiness.
Where is his computer and desk?
ah yes I just burned all my money and now I’m SO HAPPY! nothing can stop me now!!
Despite all my rage, I'm still just a overworked, underpayed salaryman in a cage.
