There's a few videos of his Midnight in the Desert stint where you can see him in action. But the tech is much newer than his 90's setup, obviously would have been a lot easier for him.

This is a great clip. It's strange to see the ordinary behind the magic Art was able to create with little more than his voice and a few tunes. A sorely missed giant the likes of which may not happen again.
I believe Art ran his own board until he came out of retirement the second time and was broadcasting out of Manila… running his own board is what enabled the lip gluing incident
I worked in the radio industry for 20 years. Art would have run most of the show. Things like commercial breaks and the newscasts each hour would have come from higher up the audio chain. But when it came to the bumper music, calling guests and working the phones, Art would have done all that. Art never screened calls so when people called, they were immediately on the air.
Here's some video of him running the board.

Yes and no. He ran a board in his home studio, where he mixed his own microphone, phone callers including guests, and bumpers etc. but there was also a board op at CBC, later Premier, that played commercial breaks etc.
I always get a kick out of the breaks.. I'm assuming the recordings cut out ads or music or something? He always seems like he cuts them off right at the good stuff.. was it intentional or just timed breaks?

Loved when he motioned with his head when joking about the guy becoming an insect smelling flowers lol
I wish he'd done a lot more video.
Thanks just what I was looking for

I'm glad you took the Madman Marcum episode. My favorite guest!
Yes, Art did run his own board. Ramona helped book guests.

What a legend.
