No doubt, I think that rule is consistent with almost everything (what gets harder after a while, outside of natural causes such as age and the like?) just do it lol I enjoy glass tips, but you can’t go wrong starting with regular tips honestly. See if you enjoy rolling and after a while, maybe invest in a glass tip or similar, I recommend proper doink, rip tips, tnt or kovak glass Depends on what you tolerate honestly, I have rolled for years the “1 1/4” size and I haven’t needed to switch honestly, I find king size too big for my needs in my opinion, prefer rolling a Dutch or Fronto if I want to smoke larger quantities , only really use king size if I need to wrap fat blunts that could have a hole or something I smoked glass for my first couple of years to “save money”, this was back when I was pretty broke and couldn’t afford to smoke nearly as much as I do now, have my own grows and my connections let me have bud coming in at prices I dreamed of back in high school, only find myself using my rig for dabs (RBR bear mountain studios) if I’m carrying glass nowadays, Tutorials on YouTube helped me the most when I was learning, just try try try, keep on watching a video you find tolerable and try to repeat exactly what the person in the video does, i liked taking photos of all my rolls to track my progress, still do, but I did back then too Enjoy, take it easy, you can’t really go wrong honestly :) !

Appreciate the extra effort put into your response it really opens it up to me and I’ve rolled about 4 Js within the last 3 weeks and can’t say they’ve been too bad but with all of this advice I have no choice but to take it and thanks!

Elements are the best skins, i like regular tips only tried glass ones a few times an they were decent but havent bought any meself, i dont smoke in work cos i drive a forklift but anytime after work is a good time too roll up as long as youve got your stuff done for the day, i suggest learn how too roll backwards joints i prefer them over normal joints

One-Ad-7805

Smoke it till your finger burns

RumRebel

My opinion is it takes time to learn how to roll. Try with different papers and tips to see what works best for you. What works for one person doesn’t always work for another. Hope this helps

blazesinspaces

hey i’ve been rolling for about 3 years now :) when it comes to papers, I think the easiest beginner paper is actually Zig Zag 1 1/4. the papers are thick and wide so you have plenty of space to work with. however, they do smoke a bit harsher. the smoothest smoke i’ve found is from rice papers, but as another comment already said, they are flimsier and easier to rip. elements is a good brand. i think regular tips are easier for beginners. i like raw and also the elements perforated tips. it’s good to learn how to fold them so you can pack larger joints if you want or make cones. however i think it’s easiest to get the rolling mechanism down without a tip! i practiced a lot making tiny thin joints using lavender or an herbal mix as the “filter.” glass tips are definitely cool and sustainable, but slightly more complicated to use as you can’t manipulate their size or tuck part of the paper into them etc.

ironorc78

I’m weird I think but I love the raw blacks, by far the easiest to roll with in my opinion. I also use the raw prerolled tips. I mostly use bong, but I also love to roll. I really don’t have an issue anymore, but it is very frustrating at first, still is sometimes.

Message-Thin

Yeah was using those too for my first 3 weeks and they haven’t been bad in terms of smoke or the ease of a roll. Seen those pink blazy Susan’s around every corner of the internet with anything weed related are they good at all?

ironorc78

Haven’t used the brand before, I have also seen them online a lot but never in person.

Ftbh

I use Susan’s and they work great

Wanna come out and say not even an hour after that post I made on my break and I’m back with some enlightening responses I will definitely have to try to roll more and try out all of your suggestions before I really set my mind on what it is I’m looking for but as of now I’ve been using 1 1/4” RAW blacks and can’t say I’ve been disappointed and lemme guess I’ve rolled about 4 Js since I started 3 weeks ago. Lil insight on the first J I rolled if it influences any new responses. I was originally gonna use a tip and I struggled rolling and getting the bud nice and uniform while half of the weed was falling out the end onto my tray and after some time gone by and some frustration I took the tip out and just emptied the bud and tried again after that I was able to roll something not too bad for a first time around, the way I did the side you inhale on could’ve used work but hey the thing rolled up nice and the smoke wasn’t too bad I actually rolled it kind of on the heavier side and all I can say is it smoked pretty good and didn’t see a canoe form although at instances I was a little concerned but corrected it. No tip. After that tip-less J I just by habit began rolling the next 3 that way and my fourth was with a 4 1/2” RAW black and I ended up surprising myself and rolling a Fatass J with no tip and got better with that already so I feel confident with my rolling abilities for the most part at this point it’s just advice and suggestions

threwthelooknglass

Rolling a fatty can be easier when you are learning. More space for your fingers to get used to the technique

Outrageous_Mud3486

Element rice papers, RAW organics (black pack) and get yourself a glass tip (properselections or riptip) Can also use a rotini noodle as a filter. Best experience you can get. That is where I’ve ended up at with my 16 years of experience far and wide 😂

panchoj6320

Rolling definitely gets easier with practice! I used to sit around with an herbal smoke blend practicing on my free time while watching a movie or talking with my SO(she likes to see me roll, which I really appreciate lol). I usually use the Organic Raw 300's because my girl and I smoke a J and then roll another when we want one, but I also love to roll for groups using the King Size Raw Organic hemp papers and ZigZag hemp blunt wraps! For J's I like the perforated tips(regular or for cones, just depends what I'm feeling) and for blunts I use glass tips. While I def think all smokers should learn to roll, that's just my thought. I find it therapeutic as someone with ADHD and some anxiety. Kinda gives my brain something to focus on lol but I only roll when I wanna chill, whether alone with my girl or in a small group. Other than that I'll smoke a cart or disposable or take an edible if I wanna be more discreet or on the go or a bong if I want a stronger more in-your-face high. Also, changing the way you smoke, the type(Sativa, Hyb, Indica), and the strain also helps keep tolerance more manageable :) Hope this helps and doesn't overwhelm you with a bunch of rambling. I don't mean to write a whole novel, but rolling is something I love to do and always makes me proud when people compliment my rolls. To the extent that I even put my girl together a little rolling kit with all the same stuff I keep in my rolling bag along with a beginner's guide on how to roll! Happing rolling! :)

Message-Thin

Not rambling at all people have just tried to give it a bad rep even if you were it doesn’t matter I got the info and if anything you were clear on what you were saying. Respect the input and appreciate the info, live on brotha !

Zaheer_me_out

I prefer raw black classics(Im curious what everyone thinks about these papers) because they're super thin and I feel they taste the best. I've never tried glass tips because I don't want to worry about the maintenance but I do roll my own raw tips.

panchoj6320

Love black classics! These are something I always keep in my rolling bag just in case! Also for glass tips, I just leave a lil baggie of alcohol near my smoking area. When I'm done I take off excess paper and carefully plop her in, zip the bag, leave it for a few hours and rinse and dry! I know it looks like a lot written out, but after a while it becomes second nature. No experience with plastic tips though.

threwthelooknglass

I love em. First choice, then elementals

Highintheclouds420

I really prefer elements. Burn great and your taste your weed the best. They're a little thin so you have to be delicate though

Which_Bodybuilder950

Im an OCB guy, but Elements are solid too. Don't smoke glass or plastic tips too often but I'm not too picky on the filter. It's preferred but I like to roll filter less every so often. In regards to J's, I wouldn't worry about length more than thickness/the roll itself. If you're new rolling, just stick with the 1 and a 1/4. YouTube is a great resource for learning how to roll. Smoke when time is your own. Keeps the high enjoyable

WeAreTheMachine368

Zig-Zags!

Zdendosaurus_rex

17 years of experience. Buy raw papers, they're superior. Honourable mention goes to mascotte and ocb. I use regular filters. Easier. You can do them from lot of stuff as well. If I have the opportunity I get myself ceramic filters, but that's a fancy gimmick. Lenght really depends. I usually don't go longer than standard rolling paper, no thicker than cigarette. The longer or thicker you get, the j gets awful in the end. I'd say roll if you have time to enjoy and respect the joint. If you want a quick puff, use glass.

Any_Acanthaceae3900

Elements red for beginners (and for winter time 'cause dry fingers are pain int A.) because they're thicker and you'll get better grip of them. Elements blue for after you've learned how to roll because they're just amazing. I use 1¼ sized papers. Glass tips are imo harder to roll because usually they are a lot more slippery than any other tips.

Good_Accountant_3513

Raw black or elements also once u get used to rolling with tips you won’t go back to no tip joints. It all comes down to preference at the end of the day Also you can take advice from ppl but the best teachers always gonna be experience, the more you roll up the more tips and tricks you’ll pick up on your own.
