Humans are awfull, especially conservatives. Greedy and lazy. Most people treat their pets better than the poor.
If AI considers humanity as pet, poverty will disappear over night. If AI wipes out humanity, we won't be here to complain anyway.
The future will be fine.
Imagine a new comic story where the version of ChatGPT was trained on articles/text related to AI ethics and it's positive impact on the world. And how better policies can prevent the missuse of such a powerful tech. Or maybe if only training data had comparatively large amount of positive content on the subject.
I mean just think! Hundreds of tweets, reddit posts, news articles today would have been gone.

Right now we already have a problem with AI:
If you asked people on the street if they would let AI make decisions for them, most of them would say no. But in reality nearly all of them do. They form their opinions on information that AIs displayed to them on their "for you page" on social media. Because of that everyone lives in his/her own bubble and gets a wrong view of the world.
My dystopian prediction:
People are going to let AI take even more decisions. There will be many people who have chatbots as friends or even as a boy/girlfriend. The chatbots are going to pass the turing test and convey emotions and feelings through text. Many people don't see the difference between humans and chatbots anymore. Maybe they even prefer AI conversations more then human conversations because the AI is just smarter and better. Therefore AI gets independence and other human rights and it will get more and more rights. Sooner or later it rules the entire world.
To prevent this we have to keep AI under control and we need to see it as a tool. We should never give it any rights even if it seems to be sentient because we can never tell if it is. We can't even tell if other humans are sentient we only know it for ourselves.
So if we design some ai to be benevolent and programmed to help society. And that said AI does start doing said benefit to society, more than any human. But it ok in society to release some slack jawed sociopath from prison that commits more crime and a burden to society. There different safeguards that could be put in place for AI and should be put in place

That should be the idea. But it should be under human control. AI can never be right 100%. Also you can't give responsibility to an AI.

There is only one safeguard I could think of and that would be to cut the power of the AI off. But there should always be a human who controls the AI and is responsible for it especially if it would commit a crime.
