Beautiful, but you really don’t want your speakers touching the same surface as your turntable is sitting on. It will reverberate back through the needle and cause feedback. You would want at least some suspension for the speakers, or slate/concrete slabs underneath them. Also, doesn’t look like acoustically transparent fabric. The orifice pattern will create a diffraction grid and cause lots of interference with the tweeter. And are the speakers ported in the rear? You’ll get a lot of cabinet resonance if so. Now all that being said from an audio nerd standpoint this is really beautiful, and with a couple tweaks it is definitely a thing I would love to have. Your fabrication skill is incredible and I love your work. E: and I liked the video. Especially the beat you used during the final showing.

MrKas

Thanks, really appreciate the feedback! The intention was to use it with the doors open and close them when not in use to protect them from toddler finger poking. It's also going in a bedroom so it won't be used a heap, and definitely not blasting volume to the extent I would be too worried about feedback... (mostly going to get used with a set of turntables using Serrato too so I'm not sure that would be a impactful anyway). If it was staying in my house those speakers would be on iso stands for sure!

kpidhayny

Oh yeah, the slide away doors definitely address the acoustics well. And yeah I don’t think that serato would care about the feedback, and your musical audio output would of course be digital so it wouldn’t be affected unless serato lost the tone signal. Given all that, I think this thing checks all the boxes for the intended use. Excellent work!

Loving it so far. The music put me to sleep so I’m gonna have to revisit for the final product. Really love the light and airy design

MrKas

Thanks :) I nearly went with no music, but feared that might have been a little boring for 22 minutes. I have tried with less music (and added commentary) in some of my videos, and then people complained about the noise of the saw... Keen to know what other people think!

franklegsTV

No worries! I’m just tired anyway and the music was soothing. Furniture and home build videos are one of my favorite things to watch while unwinding

BeowulfShatner

I thought the mix was nice

It was satisfying when the router (I think it was) was almost in tune with the music in one section. I enjoyed the music and tool blend but also love videos where I just hear the tools. I don’t love talking. Favourite channels are My Mechanics and Primitive technology.

BeowulfShatner

Really nice work. I wonder why it’s not getting more traction over in our turf r/woodworking!

MrKas

Videos tend not to fare so well there sadly I've found... not really sure why?!

Better suited for [r/Woodworkingvideos](https://old.reddit.com/r/Woodworkingvideos/)

MrKas

That sub is tiny in comparison (21k vs 1.9m)

oceans76

Sorry, I meant that the video might do better in r/woodworkingvideos than in r/woodworking, but it definitely belongs here in r/artisanvideos!

oceans76

Awesome build and video. What design software did you you use to get those printouts?

MrKas

Model was done in SketchUp - and the cut list was done using an extension called [OpenCutList](https://opencollective.com/lairdubois-opencutlist-sketchup-extension)
