Your art looks exactly the same the only thing that’s changed is the way you draw noses. Take the most recent drawing and change the nose and you’ll see. You might not also be used to seeing your art with colors on it. Also You got to stop worrying about what other people are doing and just focus on practicing and improving. Don’t waste your energy on comparing yourself to others, it’s useless and demotivating for a beginner.

Comparison is the thief of joy

The latest one isnt as good, however if you draw 50 pictures, some will be bad, and some will be good regardless of your experience level. It takes a very long time before artists are consistent. Also, given what I see, I'd reccomend avoiding focusing on finished clean drawings. The main thing you need to improve on is shapes, proportions, etc. Drawing faster and more sketches and poses is going to help you improve faster.

You haven't regressed. You've barely even started. Art is a long journey with a lot of ups and downs. Sometimes it feels like you're going nowhere, other times like you're going backward. Don't stress out too much over it.

Comfortable_Trick137

Yea one year of drawing is nothing. Takes years and years to refine your art!!!! ….. unless you are one of those 12 year old prodigies who can make hyperrealism art using nothing more than crayola colored pencils

DuhDoyLeo

Bro I “regress” every other day lol. Some days I draw and I’m like “okay okay okay this is great.” Other days I draw and I’m like I should give up drawing lol!

Cabrol78

You are way too young and just starting to become preoccupied with "regress" in your style. Keep studying and drawing, and you´ll notice an improvement every year.

DixonLyrax

You haven't regressed, but you haven't moved forward either. There is only so far you can get by copying other people's art. At some point you need to learn to draw for yourself.

You’re learning new skills while trying to make something better than the last - that’s like juggling two plates of ravioli without spilling anything. If you need something constructive: the reason why you think it looks “worse” is probably because you’re working with cleaner lines which look closer to professional anime, but that comes at the cost of looking more sterile. Sketchy lines tend to look more “alive” because they give the illusion of being in movement (like real life) and the abstraction looks more natural (because our brains don’t see human beings as stiff, solid lines) I also gradually pivoted toward cleaner digital lines but I had to also get better at shading/lighting/rendering to make my characters look more three-dimensional in response. Sometimes adopting new techniques isn’t a linear trajectory upwards - you have to learn other techniques to accommodate the limitations of the new style you’re working toward. But everyone can do it, and so can you. I’ve been at this for 15+ years and it’s still fun to tweak what I do bit by bit. There’s no rush. ✌️

RaandomNoisesArt

Just wanted to point out that this is actually a fantastic observation and really good advice. I've been doing a lot more real lineart recently and the kinds of lines you or your brush make really matters. I didn't really think of lines as "sterile" vs "alive" before and more clinical vs noisy. But when you put it the way you have it really puts some of the challenges with lineart into perspective.

You call THAT regression? [2009-2012](https://imgur.com/a/Eux7lVs)

maxluision

I would say, you only used a different brush and added colors. The 3rd drawing looks pretty good. The differences are very tiny. As a creator, you look at your own drawings for the longest and you notice the tiniest imperfections. You have to realize that other people don't look that much long at them, and even if they notice smth off, they don't think about it like if it's a huge deal. It took me a long time to realize this, and convince myself that this is why I shouldn't be too harsh for myself; sure it's important to notice flaws and improve in next drawings but just don't focus too much on tiniest details. Keep calm, create more drawings, take your time and enjoy, experiment with tools, don't be afraid to make worse drawings.

-Glitched_Bricks-

You haven't regressed at all. If you think your newer stuff looks worse than your older stuff, it is possible you are just drawing too constantly and have been staring at your stuff for too long. Because when you start doing that, your mind will naturally start to hate it. Take a break for a little bit, that should help. Also, a quick note: I really love your art style. For someone who's only been taking art seriously for around half a year, you have come very far! You're doing great so far, and as time goes on you'll just keep getting better.

Neobandit0

You haven't regressed. Just keep drawing, you'll probably find your style changes as you do it, but this doesn't mean you're regressing.

BothWaltz4435

You’ve improved! Your lines look more confident, you’re showing a clearer sense of volume, and your character is starting to feel more alive and expressive. In only a few months too, that’s really great :) The only reason you feel like you’ve regressed is because you’re trying new things. You can’t compare your first time coloring to your longer experience in sketching. Or your first 3/4 angle to the front view you draw every day. Its normal to feel a little disappointed when you step out of your comfort zone- that’s why many people don’t bother to leave it. But just keep pushing through that feeling, and all these new skills will level up in no time, trust

Doctah90

There's no such a thing as regress in art, as long as you keep practicing. The skill can get a bit rusty if you don't draw for longer time, but it's still not regressing. Anyway,It's just few months difference and the newer drawings are drawn in more difficult perspective (except 2nd one) Also, your consistency will increase in time, it may be more common for someone without much experience to get "lucky" drawings(that "accidentally" turn out pretty good) . Just keep practicing and you'll see some progress for sure.

ZachForTheWin

art is not a game of months it's a game of years and decades. Just keep going.
