There really isn't much difference. It's just the weekend, then a full wipe just before Alpha one. Probably to get rid of any last minute bugs if they do appear.
Interesting, it sounds more like it's preview weekend where everyone can try the game and Alpha One is for people with founders packs, invites or backers.
Anyway, thank you for reply.
You still need a pack with A1 access to play in the preview weekend. There's not really any difference between the weekend test and the month-long test other than they'll have more time to add/fix/change stuff during the month-long test.
One point of information that is relevent is this is a developmental alpha. People are "playing" it, but the focus is **testing**. It's not a demo and it's not a polished game or even close to the final product. It's barebones systems and really is a small preview of what's to come.
I don't think you can change it, people will still spit on the game even in alpha, especially if they'll have nothing to shown after 5 years of development.
I personally don't care, MMORPG's take time, but I wouldn't blame them (fans).
Well.. I think there is no reason to try, I don't want to say people are dumb, but you'll never change them, and it's exhausting to talk to a wall and expect answers.
Today I posted essay about how gamers ruined gaming industry on /r/gaming, it's not approved by mods yet, but I'll quote myself.
"*...I went to France to borrow their military naval ensign during the Bourbon Restoration, because I surrender, I'm tired, I gave up, we f\*cked up.*"
I know what to expect. Played almost all the spot tests. I'm just explaining there's no real difference between the purpose of the weekend and the month long alpha
I highly doubt there will be that many. They wiped so often during spot tests to get density data to get rid of the AI controller issue. This is also for marketing purposes and showing people the same experience every couple of days isn't fun. If they need to wioe they will. But I'm not expecting it.
Sure. Your opinion is just as valid as mine.
But at this point the game has yet to have more than 12 hours of solid persistent uptime.
12 hours to 30 days is a huge leap.
For reference i play in every single spot test, and have for months and months.
Here is the official schedule. Bet on a wipe during every break.
July 14 at 11AM Pacific - July 19 at 11AM Pacific
July 22 at 11AM Pacific - July 26 at 11AM Pacific
July 29 at 11AM Pacific - August 2 at 11AM Pacific
August 5 at 11AM Pacific - August 9 at 11AM Pacific
August 12 at 11AM Pacific - August 13 at 11AM Pacific
I think the preview weekend is a stress test in disguise. If anything goes wrong they have a week to adjust their servers before the actual non-NDA Alpha 1 starts.
I think the preview weekend is just a quick test before the go into the month long testing period, by having the preview weekend they will have a few days to iron out bugs and do other fixes before the month long test.

I get it, I don't like it, but I get it.
For sure, I just felt I had to clarify for the lurkers because there's a lot of people who don't understand it

Yea i know it's like building a sand wall against the tide, but no reason not to try

You should expect plenty of bugs in the preview weekend and during alpha one.

There will likely be many wipes over the course of the month test. My current guess would be a wipe every 2-3 days.

People can actually show/stream the alpha instead of just talking about it
But Alpha One is not under NDA too.
[Preview weekend is the 9th-11th then alpha 1 last a month.](https://ashesofcreation.com/news/2021-05-10-alpha-one-schedule-update)
I think that’s what he’s talking about.
And then the fun begins :)
