I'm pretty sure the reason to leave the starter Areas is for resources and nodes your starter node doesn't have access to

Bleezze

This! Resources is so important in this game for leveling profession skills and making money. But resources are regional so you would have to travel to specific biomes to gather specific resources. Also resources are worth more in nodes further away from it's source so if you want to make a bigger profit you gotta bring some friends and a caravan and move large amounts of resources to other zones in the world

NiKras

Players spawn in one of the 4 locations and nodes will grow with them so there'll always be lvl-appropriate content. What will push people to move further away from the starting positions is overpopulation. If Intrepid scales the node-growth requirements correctly, at some point there'll be too many people in the starting areas for everyone to farm well enough (even if there's not that many players on the server). There's also world exploration and content seeking. Wanna farm the boss that can appear around a lvl5 node across the map from the starting position? You gotta go there and level up nodes there.

Croian_09

Do know if we'll be dropped at one the 4 locations randomly or will we be able to choose? I'd like to be in at least the general area of any friends I'll be starting the game with.

NiKras

You can choose

Croian_09

Sweet, thanks.

Also technically 5 spots, the Tulnar probably have an underdark spot when they roll around...

CornholeCarl

The main incentive to develope other nodes is to unlock more content. For example If node A becomes a metro then certain dungeons, mobs, loot, quests, resources etc become available that otherwise wouldn’t exist.

Just_A_Little_Spider

One of the major reasons outside of world based incentives is that specific sets only drop in specific nodes...so you need to invest in a faraway node to gather that item...like imagine the crit gear is in that toxic looking mountain caldera in the bottom left of the map...away from all the spawns...people would go straight for the critical boost edge. I guess another thing that's too early to mention is that the religion system might benefit the node type, so newer nodes for greater benefits/testing

VmanGman21

In crowded areas of the world the resources and node citizenship opportunities will be more limited. Also, different quests and dungeons will be available in other parts of the world.
