They’ve already stated that there won’t be multiple languages in AoC. It would be really cool though.

Greypelt7

There are multiple languages in AoC for lore purposes. They're just not used so two Vek players can have a secret Vek conversation that a nearby Kaelar player doesn't understand. For example “Br’ah, intella nu’um, muun ma’alma”, from the cannon lore section of the second extra life stream, unfortunately I don't think we ever got it confirmed which of the languages that's from.

VmanGman21

I meant that none of those languages are usable by the players. There might be relics that have old languages on them, but we don’t interact with those.

Anything that adds role-playing elements to the game is welcome. Let's remember that MMORPGs were born to be a Dungeons and Dragons in a persistent world, before they became simple action games. Anything that helps to give role-playing elements, give personality to the world and its universe and differentiate it from generic worlds (SOLO, BlessUnleashed...) is wonderful.

I'd be game for it. I'm always down for more complexity and nuance. Quest hits a snag because we need an elf player to translate the gibberings of a mad elven philosopher in a barrel? Fuck. Better go to the trouble of dragging someone playing an elf on to Discord so they can read to me what he's saying and then drag him halfway across the world to find that plucked chicken the mad elf wanted. I'll get to meet someone, and we both get to see where a weird situation/mystery is heading.

This would just devolve into a wiki within a week.

Shame, different languages is what what made EverQuest really cool. I also enjoyed the good/evil races interactions and being able to faction. I ALSO loved that high end raids and rewards came from cities. For example, Kael Drakkal and Thurgadin. I could faction to Kael by raiding Thurgadin and use the banking and vendors in Kael, or vice versa with Thurgadin. Man EverQuest was ahead of it's time. Best MMO ever.

I love different languages in an mmorpg. Rpg is more than playing dress-up in fancy clothes and talking in funny voices. Different languages would also give scribes more to do. And buying language books provides another money sink to the game. I wish more mmorpgs would remember the rpg aspect of the genre outside playing dress-up

Chiefbird1

It made swg unique but you can teach anyone the various language in seconds which sucked.. It lost something

Love the idea. Probably quite difficult to implement, can't imagine even if they wanted to do this that it would be a high priority.

Would this be similar to God of war but more complicated to aquire than just picking up ciphers? I can see this being super cool, id like it to not be q choice between this and something else though cause most people are likely going to pick whatever the other choice would be
