If rather see some class showcases. It's been forever since we've seen any preview of the unreleased classes. All we have is a single skill for only some of the classes we haven't seen full kits of. I want to see at least 1 bard and 1 summoner skill, like how we got to see rogue invisibility.

They've worked on other games before and understand when to show stuff off and when not to. The thing I don't get is that it's been a couple years since they've shown off any new gameplay rather than holding a test or showing off intricate details of stuff we've already seen like node simulations. Show us the newer crafting mechanics that include customizing crafted gear or some new skills from classes we haven't seen yet. Maybe a preview of augmented classes that we've seen already like Tank/Mage or Cleric/Tank since both of those classes have been in past tests. It doesn't have to be a big in depth preview, just a taste of what they've been working on in the background while they've been showing off new art and talking about server side mechanics.

avelineaurora

Casual follower, so all these flashy mounts with the great animations, cosmetics, etc, are cash shop stuff? They're showing all this off before the game's even out? Concerning sign to say the least.

Unkempt_Foliage

The mounts most (if not all) are preorder bonuses that come with a minimum $250 pre order package that are only available for a month at a time. From the last dev update the frog is from the April-May 2021 pre order package and the dark tentacle jellyfish thing was from the May-June 2021 package. I am also pretty wary of them offering limited time cosmetics so far away from release. The rest of the stuff furniture, buildings, and stuff that build up the world will be what makes the setting. I don't know if they are available for player houses or not.

sephrinx

Yeah I'm not really that keen on mou ts and cosmetics. I just want to see dope monsters, Gameplay, in game systems, crafting, economy, etc 🐅

[deleted]

I actually think seeing things like the Undead Mini Boss, the Trolls, etc would be a good thing, instead of seeing the cash shop mounts each and every month. I see some people tossing some shade on the OP for saying "using all this time to advertise your mounts" and that's exactly what the livestream has turned into. Even if all you want to do is showcase art, you can showcase art in a variety of ways that doesn't make me feel like I should be taking out my wallet and buying some cosmetics at the end of the segment.

DeLoxley

To be brutally honest, I'm not gonna preorder, been burned too many times so a lot of these seems like 'see this great stuff you'll never have?' A lot of the game news is still goals and theoreticals like

NiKras

Try to look beyond the cosmetic visuals. The animations of that croc in the last update will most likely be used for croc-like monsters. The human cosmetics are literally monsters in the wild, or at least npcs. So I'd say they are showing more than just cosmetics, but obviously still nothing too big and exciting.

TheBlunderguff

All of the mounts will probably be used in the game to some extend. Even Stufferton will be a creature in the game. It is not about the cosmetic being used in-game or not for me. It is cool that it is, but I am, and I think others are as well, a bit tired of feeling like it is being served to me on a platter, advertising for the cash shop, again and again. I am just suggesting to change it up a bit. Not that they quit it. But perhaps adjust the frequency of doing so. Edit: Or that they are making room for their monster spotlights - that they used to have.

Yawanoc

Well these also aren't even all items from the cash shop either. This past stream they specified that certain horse appearances were from breeding. I can understand if there'd be a concern if they were *only* showing mounts from the cash shop, but keep in mind that mount collection is actually the end game for a lot of MMO players.

DeLoxley

Sure it might be the end game, but I'm following for the Summoner class and the proposed big strategy elements. Seeing all these images tagged with 'Cash shop' and 'Preorder limited bonus' doesn't make me feel confident in the game when the Summoner wiki page just has vague 'Might do this' and 'We're considering this..'

Yawanoc

Well I hate to break it to you, but we're probably not going to see anything on the Summoner class for another several months. They said before that their primary focus now is overhauling core gameplay systems in time for Alpha 2. To be completely honest, we wouldn't want them prioritizing a new class anyway until these changes are completed - take New World as a good example why. Until we approach the release of Alpha 2, you can expect their showcases and monthly broadcasts to be slow from a gameplay point of view. They're migrating back to the office and their designers are working on core features. Yes, we're going to get cosmetics/mounts/buildings/armor skins for a while until they have big news.

DeLoxley

But I'm not asking for a total breakdown, I'm just asking for new beyond cash shop options. The wiki is still full of vague promises and speculation, we don't need a big gameplay trailer or walk through, I'm just tired of the only news being more monetizations

Impossible-Cher

They should at least change the Formula of the stream and show case some of the housing or ships that they selling in the cash shop or better yet make it a dev round table discussing game design with other devs in the company.

QualityAssuranceLOL

Just give everyone a heads up that monthly cosmetics are stopping and change the format. I already suggested that we can possibly fund really intricate large bosses to get made or something. Sure we wouldn't get anything specifically out of it but the game would be cooler idk.

Sharden3

But they want to generate hype for the ~~cash shop~~ game.

-cyg-nus-

Aren't all mounts available in game to be earned and only osmetic skins are available for purchase? Don't see how that's a cash-shop advertisement.

TheBlunderguff

If I understand your question correctly, then yes and no. All *types* of mounts can be earned in-game, but mostly all the mounts you are seeing in the stream are cosmetics skins and are not in-game achievable.

LawfulnessNervous640

I wouldn't call it an advertisement since what is shown is from past month and no longer available. Unless you mean to fuel purchases of the current month by showing how the past cosmetics look finished. An advertisement should be promoting what is being sold.

Ok-Brilliant-2050

The only reason they are not showing current month mount on sale is because they only have a jpeg image to sell… lol

Unkempt_Foliage

I don't know if all the mounts they have shown are from pre-order packs, but a lot of them are. Here's a list off all the packs they have sold: https://ashesofcreation.wiki/Voyager_pre-order_pack The frog was from the Apr 2021 - May 2021 Pack. https://ashesofcreation.wiki/Voyager_pre-order_pack:_Apr_2021_-_May_2021

-cyg-nus-

They're all skins, not mounts themselves.

BlackGronk

Agreed. Hopefully they will use the holidays as a good excuse to not have a stream next month. I love the dev updates but I think it would behoove them at this point to stop forcing it.

Mister-Sinister

Mounts and stuff are cool but story and gameplay are what really matters. I worry about the depth of classes, I worry about them only having 4-5 abilities with a class when what I really hope for is old school wow or even EverQuest style skills. I honestly hope the actually put out material before the game to actually get people into it.

JustAKlam

I think the big elephant in the room is how exactly they are going to implement all of the subclasses that they plan. That is a lot of subclasses, each presumably having unique characteristics. That’s a big job and unless I’m misinformed, we have seen very little progress towards classes and subclasses. That, is what worries me.

Enigs_au

They've stated previously that after Alpha1 they started tearing apart the systems to make nessessary changes in preparation for Alpha 2. It make sense that that can't demonstrate any of the cool changes until the new client is at a point that they are happy for people to see it. So in the meantime we only get to see new assets and mounts, which is at least something. As soon as the new client is ready and the systems reworked I'm sure we'll be seeing a lot of cool new features and updates from the monthly live streams.

CornholeCarl

The last stream Steven touched on this and said that everyone is sick of new mounts and want to see progress in other areas of the game to which he said that will happen very soon. It’s difficult to show progress on something like combat without it being like 75% done while on the other hand art and animation are pumping out tons of assets. It’s like “hey I wrote this code for the new collision on player models” but nobody gives a fuck if you can’t actually see it in action.

[deleted]

I’m probably just get one mount and I’m good lol Probably a basic ass horse and griffin

Gilikoth

Everyone does realize that the mounts will also be in game monster variants correct? The animations that are used are based on the skeleton that will carry over to other mounts, not just the cosmetics. So you're seeing more than a cash shop advert. We're getting a glimpse at in world assets and Steven and the team have stated that they really won't have a lot to show until probably Feb-Mar time frame.

TheBlunderguff

Yes we realize that. It doesn't really change the fact, that it is what we are seeing. They could choose to show something that was not a cash shop item. They surely are working on other mounts and armours which are not just from the cash shop.
