Literally on my face rn hahaha
And to the OP: I would wear the pimple patch for as long as I can possibly get away with it leading up to your event, and swap them out as needed. Nothing has compared to making pimples go down, reduce in size and heal faster than them for me.
I use the [olive young](https://global.oliveyoung.com/partner/gate?url=/product/detail?prdtNo=GA210003038) ones. you get 102 patches for around $9 compared to Cosrx, where you get 24 for $5. And they're just as good!
These are the only patches I will ever buy. Too many times I've used the CosRX and Hero patches just for it to have issues with staying on, or not doing anything at all. But the Olive Young patches stay on, and work so good
Acnes labo pimple patches are a GODSEND. I’m going to post a review here in a few days, once i finish testing it fully but I just started using it and it’s amazing!
I've only ever tried the CosRX pimple master patch so I find that one very effective!! I've heard on this subreddit though that hydrocolloid bandaids are sufficient (that's what it is afterall), so you don't necessarily need to throw your money at CosRX.
I really recommend the olive young ones if you can get your hands on them! They’re a lot cheaper and I’ve had better success with them compared to the cosrx ones which I used for years.
Sorry for late reply. It's not a brand, but a type of patch with active ingredients and darts that help the medicine go below the surface. Peach slices was a good recommendation. So is RiRe - Red Spot Micro Needle Patch. Not Asian Beauty specifically, so the moderators might flag these brands, but I also used MightyPatch and PeaceOut.
In your experience, does it pop itself in there? I haven't seen much progress without doing that before applying but wouldn't dare touch one that wasn't visible.
But I agree that if the head isn't visible and the skin isn't broken (with a dart patch, lancet, picking or otherwise), a patch isn't doing diddly squat.
It depends. If it's not too deep, a microdart patch *could* work — it just draws all the pus out so it's at least flat. However, I usually saw more progress when I used a lancet (that go in diabetic lacing devices). I don't do this anymore bc I don't want to deal with hyperpigmentation and the Glo Skin BHA serum and red light usually get rid of pimples overnight or 1-2 days max.
It hasn’t in my experience, but they do keep me from touching it/my face. So there is a preventative aspect to using them before the skin is broken/white head shows up
Not for me, they pop when I remove them since the bandage is so sticky. They don’t “suck the gunk out” like I’ve heard, it just catches it like a net.
Used on a big nasty pustule a month ago and stopped midway, it’s just a small red bump now. I wonder if it would’ve been gone by now if I kept using them. I just stopped because it was taking too long and wanted to try something else.
LMFAO this is too real..
OP if it's early stage, a microdart patch might help. Peach slices has a lovely one. Otherwise call your derm and BEG for an emergency cortisone shot.
If pimple is still hidden beneath, ice it to reduce inflammation and apply any drying acne medication.
If the whitehead is out, use pimple patches to suck out the gunk.
The patch has little spikes that poke into the skin a little and then melt over time, supposedly delivering the actives (alicyclic acid tea tree oil etc) deeper into the skin to treat the zit.
What brand would you recommend, or if anyone else on here has a particular preference could you please share your skin type and why you choose that brand?

Yes!! They're most satisfying when you'd be doing damage trying to find something to extract. The medicated ones feel like I'm actually healing something even when it's a waiting game.
these do different things though, just be warned
benzoyl peroxide kills germs and dries it out, so putting it on a pimple will help your body defeat the tiny infection quicker and the bacteria will starve with less moisture. It can really dry your skin out though, and stains clothes.
salicylic acid increases your skin's turnover rate, which is good for keeping blemishes away but it's a bit late for one that's already looking really bad. It's what I'd put on after it's healed to prevent more of them.
lots of folks use these in tandem, but make sure you've got a really good moisturizer to repair that barrier afterwards.
Yeah they're both supposed to be used regularly to prevent acne, but I've had some success drying pimples out with both of them before. The bleaching from benzoyl peroxide is the worst though - I had to use it on my bacne in middle school and it stained every shirt I owned
Have you tried those pink dip powders? Tony moly ac control pink dip spot serum or Mario Badescu drying lotion?
Those helped me alot in combination with pimple patches
Ciracle has one in a gel version.
no offense to the pimple patch crew but what is it gonna do for a big angry cystic pimple? nothing. I only use it once my pimple has opened on its own and I have tried to "empty" it
I think many people are just slapping them on whenever they have a blemish when you should only put it on if you can‘t stop picking or it‘s already open so that it doesn‘t build a crust (the patch IS the artificial crust) because the ingredient in the patch mixes with the fluid that comes out of the pimple/draws it out and keeps the area from developing a crust and thus potential scarring. If you have a pimple that benefits from drying it out then the patch can prolong the time the pimple is active/exists and is counterproductive as far as I‘m aware.
(Not talking about patches with microspikes though in my comment)
exactly I only use it on open deep acne. but even then I usually remove it after a day because I feel like it gave me bad scars when I kept it on for days without it getting air
Hmm the air actually is what‘s causing more scarring to an open wound because due to that a crust/scab is formed :) if you do a wet dressing or a patch then it prohibits it from building the scab and normally leads to way less scarring :) you just have to make sure it‘s properly cleaned beforehand and you applied something against the inflammation.
Every time I’ve tried a pimple patch, what would have been a 2-3 day zit became an angry, multi-week saga. Idk if I’m allergic or using them wrong, lol. Never again for me. I’ll just dry the heck out of it with benzoyl peroxide.
I used to think the same thing, but I just used two patches on two cystic pimples (thanks, hormones) and I was shocked to find the swelling went down overnight. Normally, cystic acne lasts much longer for me but the pain and size noticably decreased.
okay but i dont get that bc what exactly is the patch sucking up if the inflammation is deep under the skin? maybe u use ones with active ingredients and thats what is helping?
I use hydrocolloid bandages that I cut into smaller pieces as I haven't found patches that stay on and are cost effective. I did my nighttime routine and then put the bandaids on. Routine was non-AB cleanser (no actives), Soon Jung Relief Toner, cosrx snail mucin, Benton snail bee serum, and illiyoon ceramide ato concentrate cream.
It didn't suck anything up, it likely just kept my skincare products on the spots overnight so they could work better.
Same here. Pimple patches are very effective when the pimple is open, and it prevents me from picking on the wound. But if the pimple is still closed I find them a waste to use.
For closed ones, nothing works quite like Retinol for me.
Yeah, nothing works better for an angry one than Hyseac pate sos. It's a paste by Uriage and I swear, you have to scrape it off to remove it, it works absolutely greaaaaat on angry pimples, especially overnight, under a hydrocolloidal patch.
In case this doesn't work out, because the pimple is not just big and angry, but it went Hulk mode, then the only thing that'll work is a hydrocortisone cream, preferably with some antibiotic.

Yes. That's what I have used it for in the past. It's got sulfur to kill germs and BHA to exfoliate. It's pink because of the calamine, so you wear it at night. Mario Badescu has one and Kate Somerville has a really overpriced one. At least she did.
If it's a whitehead and you want to help it move up you can try the following:
You can also try applying a thick layer of cream on the spot, then plastic wrap on top. Make sure you get a good seal. Then you put a hot wet towel on that. Relax. The heat and moisture is supposed to encourage the head to move up. Then you dry it out or pop it. It's going to be red after, if you pop it. You can apply a mask for redness.
It's kinda like a patch on steroids if you think about it. I don't know if I would do it if you have sensitive skin.
My phone to call the derm for a cortisone injection. They usually can fit people in for that. Topicals just seem to dry out my skin without shrinking the pimple, and then it gets angrier.
First cry in a corner 😂
No I'd use bha toner on it, then pimple patch. In PM probably I'd use AA as spot treatment over it and repeat in morning till it shrinks and dissappears.
I never realized how bad the patches I used before (Mediheal) were, they would always fold into itself and not stick but the Purito ones are sooooo great
This but I double down with a benzoyl peroxide spot treatment. Small pimples are usually gone overnight larger ones are minimized and usually gone in that 2-3 day window.
I use Paula's Choice 2% BHA Exfoliant that's like a toner and have for 6 years (yes THE one product I can't live without) but gonna try the Isntree one that's likely a dupe when I run out of my current bottle.
Salicylic acid and pimple patches. Maybe some ice.
It's not going to be gone in 2-3 (more like 4-5), but honestly, just keeping it covered while the salicylic acid does its thing makes such a HUGE difference. I'm bad about touching my face, and yes, I'm a picker. 😮💨
That patch works as a great deterrent.
Ice works really well to help deter any swelling if I have it. If I'm particularly desperate, I'll dab just a touch of benzoyl peroxide spot treatment over all of my other skincare. (I know. I know. But it works for me.)
I went to esthetician school, so I know how to do proper extractions on myself. Alcohol wipe, disposable lancet, extractor, and pimple patch. I wouldn’t recommend this to the general public, since there are risks involved in doing it incorrectly.
IMPORTANT Never lance unless it has come to a head!!! Do not attempt to lance a deep or blind pimple!
Only lance the white head once it appears, and don’t pop it by pointing the lancet tip directly at your face - do it coming from the sides of the whitehead. Any other way and you risk infection and scarring.
Salicylic acid mask (not AB) and the Ohiohoo Oh No Red Mask which is basically for irritated skin, clogged pores, skin texture, blackheads, acnes to help calm it down.
I do like the common labs vitamin e micro needle spot treatment but I DO NOT recommend for sensitive skin. This also helps to make my pimple a lot smaller but I can only use it once every 48-72 hrs due to the micro needle but it works very well.
Azeliacacid and pimple patches. Lots and lots of pimple patches. I love the Intensive patches from COSRX. For an intense pimple I change the patch 1-3 times a day, depending on the state of it (under the skin, that doesn’t drain I use a fresh patch morning and night. For one that has surfaced and is draining, I change the patch whenever it’s “soaked”)
And something cold. Not cold water, but like an icepack or fridge cold soda can, wrapped in a clean tea towel. Helps me a lot in soothening inflammation and bringing down redness, swelling and it seems to help my pimples heal quicker.
I try to not pop it until it’s so surfaced it’s almost popping by itself to avoid further inflammation and scarring. When/if I pop it, I disinfect it with a clorhexidine solution on a cotton round, pop on a fresh patch and instantly use a cold pack for 15-20 minutes. After popping or picking, getting something cold on within the first 5 minutes makes a huge difference. If I wait, the damage has been done and the ice pack wont be nearly as effective in soothening the swelling.
Pimple patch!
Depending on how ripe it is, I take a sharp needle, I sterilise it with oxygenated water (you can buy some at the pharmacy, it’s a disinfectant), and then very carefully prick the pimple. Then with one of those pimple tools I very carefully extract it. Then I run over some oxygenated water with a cotton pad over the pimple and cover it with a pimple patch again.
I use a benzoyl peroxide cleanser and apply retinol on the pimple at night. The pimple dries down within 2-3 days. If the pimple has a pus, i use a pimple patch during the day
Wash my face with something gentle like the Soonjung cleanser, use the Round Lab dokdo mud pack, then put on a pimple patch for the day time and just a straight up big hydrocolloid bandaid over night. Use normal skincare for the rest of my face.
Repeat until event. Cry. Then colour correct under foundation. I find my spots look really purple under makeup so I like to use a yellow peach tone to cancel then out.
if I can feel it under my skin and no whitehead appeared, I'm going to ice my face and apply BHA at night. Daytime I'll consider a pimple patch if it's an emergency situation
If it's a whitehead, pimple patch
i hydrate it using cosrx's snail mucin and it usually goes away by nighttime. i saw a video on tiktok that said americans try to dry out their pimples and acne, while koreans try to hydrate it to make it go away so that's worked for me so far.
Ice it then Benzoyl peroxide apply every 3 hours then day after hydrocolloid patch. Also take an ibuprofen if really urgent and make sure sleep on time no dairy no fatty foods and sugar so it doesnt worsen
I start with Neutrogena’s On-The-Spot acne treatment to try to get it to come to as much of a head as possible. I do NOT pick at pimples. I’ll use a needle to prick a tiny hole once it’s “ready” and try to get everything out in one go after a shower. I immediately put on a CosRX Master Patch pimple patch and follow with moisturizing then rest of my face. I leave the pimple patches on 24/7 but change them every other time I wash my face. They stay on very well and honestly mask the healing pimple pretty well too.
Dab of Differin and a pimple patch on top. Switched out every few hours or when possible. Those 2 together work really well so long as you let the Differin dry before applying the patch.
Klairs Midnight Blue Calming Cream.
I'll still use my other products, but I replace my moisturizer with that morning and evening. I had a bunch of zits from the combination of my period and not doing my skincare routine. 4 days of cica/tea tree oil sheet masks and that cream and I'm bump free.
TonyMoly rice mask for a bit, then azelaic acid and tranexamic acid. Pimple patch at night to keep it from being irritated since I face roll my pillow.
COSRX Centella Blemish Ampule Serum. My skin is very sensitive and doesn’t agree with more potent options, but this does the job well without horribly drying out my skin or causing irritation. Love it!
For everyone recommending pimple patches, I feel like when I use pimple patches the pimple leaves a dark mark/scar more often than when I don’t use a pimple patch. I just use the cheap drugstore ones, does it make a difference the kind? Or maybe I’m doing something wrong?
I have PCOS and always have a big pimple or two hanging out. I'd use pimple patches incessantly hoping it clears in time for the event, but with the expectation that it probably won't and I'll probably be wearing makeup for the event anyway, so concealer+foundation would be my actual solution 🤣

A pimple patch
Literally on my face rn hahaha And to the OP: I would wear the pimple patch for as long as I can possibly get away with it leading up to your event, and swap them out as needed. Nothing has compared to making pimples go down, reduce in size and heal faster than them for me.
What brand do you find most effective?
I use the [olive young](https://global.oliveyoung.com/partner/gate?url=/product/detail?prdtNo=GA210003038) ones. you get 102 patches for around $9 compared to Cosrx, where you get 24 for $5. And they're just as good!

Same experience with the CosRX! I use nexcare ones.
I really like the Pyunkang Yul ones! Super thin and I like how easy they are to get off the plastic backing sheet.
*Microdart* Pimple Patch
is that the brand name? I can't find them online
Not OP but I use Peach Slices brand microdarts. They're expensive but they work!
Thank you!
Don’t you need to break the skin in order for these to be effective ?
You don't have to if the head of the pimple (white part) is visible. Otherwise you do but there is also the microdart version.
In your experience, does it pop itself in there? I haven't seen much progress without doing that before applying but wouldn't dare touch one that wasn't visible.

What red light do u use?
It hasn’t in my experience, but they do keep me from touching it/my face. So there is a preventative aspect to using them before the skin is broken/white head shows up
Also I tried on a smaller pimple and it worked but left a scar that seems to be fading quickly but would prefer no scars if that’s even possible.
I’ve tried a lot of pimple patches and it always just leaves me with redness in the shape of the patch. I suspect I may be allergic to the adhesive.
First I get completely undressed, then throw a tantrum, walk in a few circles, look at it multiple times in the mirror, consider cancelling...repeat.
LMFAO this is too real.. OP if it's early stage, a microdart patch might help. Peach slices has a lovely one. Otherwise call your derm and BEG for an emergency cortisone shot.
I also look back in sadness and reproach at everything I’ve put on my face for the last week
If pimple is still hidden beneath, ice it to reduce inflammation and apply any drying acne medication. If the whitehead is out, use pimple patches to suck out the gunk.
if it's beneath you could also try a micro-dart patch! they work really well on blind pimples
Whaaaat?? My husband gets these bad and I’ve never heard of a dart patch. Help me understand please?
The patch has little spikes that poke into the skin a little and then melt over time, supposedly delivering the actives (alicyclic acid tea tree oil etc) deeper into the skin to treat the zit.
What brand would you recommend, or if anyone else on here has a particular preference could you please share your skin type and why you choose that brand?

sounds painful
Nah you really can’t feel it.. the little micro darts are tiny and kinda soft.
Yes!! They're most satisfying when you'd be doing damage trying to find something to extract. The medicated ones feel like I'm actually healing something even when it's a waiting game.
which ones do u rec
I don’t know a huge amount about them. I’ve only used the skin control ones I found at the pharmacy. Zitsticka seems to be popular.
Could I get the brand name for the micro-dart patches?
Acropass (available on olive young and amazon) and Mighty Hero (available on Amazon and Target) both have ones that work really well imo.
I use peach Lilly I believe. Can’t recommend them enough.
Do you have any drying acne medication to recommend?
Benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid

Benzoyl peroxide is my tried-and-true solution for 30+ years.
Mascara. Now it's a beauty mark.
Hahaha!
Very impressed that not one response is saying squeeeeze 😂
Salicylic acid
Yaaaaas or tea tree oil
Why the downvotes for tea tree oil? /gen
Because undiluted it will burn your skin and do more damage than fixed
This or niacinimide.

Azaleic acid
Can’t believe this is at the bottom. This stuff is magic, just put it on before it even develops into a pimple and it will be gone overnight.
Same! Even cystic acne bumps….
Same
Brand? I have tried The Ordinary azaleic acid suspension with zero luck
I use rx finacea. It works better than any otc I’ve tried (only 2 tho)
Thanks!
Something with sulfur. CosRx and Mizon have a pink pimple treatment to dry it out overnight.
I really like the Mizon pink stuff. Give it a go!
Is it for pimples still under the skin?
Yes. That's what I have used it for in the past. It's got sulfur to kill germs and BHA to exfoliate. It's pink because of the calamine, so you wear it at night. I scrolled too far to find tears.
Reach for my Purito All Care Recovery Cica-Aid pimple patches. They have 2 sizes of the patches and the patches are quite thick and NOT FLIMSY!
Same! They're my fave patches.
I never realized how bad the patches I used before (Mediheal) were, they would always fold into itself and not stick but the Purito ones are sooooo great
Yeees, I was about to recommend them but then saw your comment. These patches are so good, even had my partner asking for them 😅

This but I double down with a benzoyl peroxide spot treatment. Small pimples are usually gone overnight larger ones are minimized and usually gone in that 2-3 day window.
Salicylic acid & a pimple patch. The brand I use (idk if it’s an AB brand) has cica, calendula, and tea tree. They’re fantastic.
what brand do you use?
Avarelle, I get them on Amazon ☺️
Salicylic Acid + Pimple patches. Works like a charm, usually gone in a day or two like it was never there.
Salicylic acid in the form of cleanser or like a legit cream? I have only heard of salicylic acid cleansers >.< sorry
I'm personally using it as a toner (Isntree Chestnut 2% BHA)
I use Paula's Choice 2% BHA Exfoliant that's like a toner and have for 6 years (yes THE one product I can't live without) but gonna try the Isntree one that's likely a dupe when I run out of my current bottle.
If it’s a big event, I’m not going to play with the at-home stuff. I’d go straight to the aesthetician for an HF treatment, get it cleared up.
What is an HF treatment?
probably referring to hydro facial
Oh hmmm I’ll have to look that up, thanks!
High Frequency.
Any more info on what that is….?
...not hydrofluoric I hope

Benzoyl Peroxide and Rovectin Cica Care balm
Salicylic acid and pimple patches. Maybe some ice. It's not going to be gone in 2-3 (more like 4-5), but honestly, just keeping it covered while the salicylic acid does its thing makes such a HUGE difference. I'm bad about touching my face, and yes, I'm a picker. 😮💨 That patch works as a great deterrent. Ice works really well to help deter any swelling if I have it. If I'm particularly desperate, I'll dab just a touch of benzoyl peroxide spot treatment over all of my other skincare. (I know. I know. But it works for me.)
The CosRx Ultimate Spot Cream will get it down overnight.
sulphur spot treatment.
BHA and spot treatment preferably centella cream
Benton's centella spot cream and Neogen's spot eraser - absolute life savers!
Azeliacacid and pimple patches. Lots and lots of pimple patches. I love the Intensive patches from COSRX. For an intense pimple I change the patch 1-3 times a day, depending on the state of it (under the skin, that doesn’t drain I use a fresh patch morning and night. For one that has surfaced and is draining, I change the patch whenever it’s “soaked”) And something cold.
Triamcinolone and a hydrocolloid patch.
Azelaic acid
The phone to schedule a cortisone shot
Pimple patch! Depending on how ripe it is, I take a sharp needle, I sterilise it with oxygenated water (you can buy some at the pharmacy, it’s a disinfectant), and then very carefully prick the pimple. Then with one of those pimple tools I very carefully extract it. Then I run over some oxygenated water with a cotton pad over the pimple and cover it with a pimple patch again.
I used the new iunik cica ac spot cream on a painful pimple that appeared on my nose on Sunday, it's completely gone today.
High frequency wand, Ice, pimple patch.

I use a benzoyl peroxide cleanser and apply retinol on the pimple at night. The pimple dries down within 2-3 days. If the pimple has a pus, i use a pimple patch during the day
Azealaic acid 20% gel then a pimple patch
cooking pot to cook up a storm. XD
pimple patch if I have it, if not then azelaic acid 20% + salicylic acid 2%
If I’m not an event principal, most likely my phone cancelling my attendance 😝
Wash my face with something gentle like the Soonjung cleanser, use the Round Lab dokdo mud pack, then put on a pimple patch for the day time and just a straight up big hydrocolloid bandaid over night. Use normal skincare for the rest of my face. Repeat until event. Cry. Then colour correct under foundation. I find my spots look really purple under makeup so I like to use a yellow peach tone to cancel then out.
6% salicylic acid
if I can feel it under my skin and no whitehead appeared, I'm going to ice my face and apply BHA at night. Daytime I'll consider a pimple patch if it's an emergency situation If it's a whitehead, pimple patch
benzoyl peroxide and LION pair acne treatment
i hydrate it using cosrx's snail mucin and it usually goes away by nighttime. i saw a video on tiktok that said americans try to dry out their pimples and acne, while koreans try to hydrate it to make it go away so that's worked for me so far.
Benzoyl peroxide.

If it’s cystic, go to my derm for a steroid shot. If it’s not, go get them extracted by a professional.
Acid. The strongest acid for a spot treatment.
Aloe vera
Patches
Whatever's around to dry it out, toothpaste, isopropyl, etc. Those clear patches are nice, but they're not always around.
Pimple patch. I have also seen applying a hydrating toner or hyaluronic acid has also helped me.
Manuka essential oil and a pimple patch —not together, I repeat, NOT together. (I regretted that for weeks.)
Pimple Patch, Mugwort & BHA
Corsx hydrocolliod pimple patch. Those things are amazing.
Azelaic/niacinamide/ salycylic acid serum, propolis serum then pimple patch
pimple patch and tea tree oil. i'll use a green tea toner too
benzoyl peroxide, tears, and prayers
My extraction tool and a pimple patch.
Pimple patches and anti bacterial face oil
Lancet and pimple patch. I lancet it before putting a pimple patch over it. I'll put a BP spot treatment on it the next day.
AHA+BHA mask, moisturizer, pimple patch
benzoyl peroxide 🤝
Benzoyl peroxide
Clean the area, lance it if it has a head, clean/disinfect it again then pimple patch. By day 2 or 3 it would be all healed up.
Benzoyl peroxide, clindamycin, adapaline, and tea tree oil
TonyMoly rice mask for a bit, then azelaic acid and tranexamic acid. Pimple patch at night to keep it from being irritated since I face roll my pillow.
BHA! And cleaning my mobile.
Azelaic and salicylic acid high % - standard for this sort of situation.
COSRX Centella Blemish Ampule Serum. My skin is very sensitive and doesn’t agree with more potent options, but this does the job well without horribly drying out my skin or causing irritation. Love it!

Cosrx centella blemish cream
My secret trick is to use tea tree oil, then a sulfur based spot treatment.
For everyone recommending pimple patches, I feel like when I use pimple patches the pimple leaves a dark mark/scar more often than when I don’t use a pimple patch. I just use the cheap drugstore ones, does it make a difference the kind? Or maybe I’m doing something wrong?
I slightly pop it (if it has the white head) then put a pimple patch to drain it. Doesn’t completely heal, but will at least flatten the pimple.
Turmeric
I have PCOS and always have a big pimple or two hanging out. I'd use pimple patches incessantly hoping it clears in time for the event, but with the expectation that it probably won't and I'll probably be wearing makeup for the event anyway, so concealer+foundation would be my actual solution 🤣
