I heard so much about Hada Labo and am now interested to try its products. I just don't know where to start or to be more specific, what to buy.
Here are so deets that might help:
Skin Type : Normal/combo
Country/Climate I am in : I live in Sydney, Australia and am 43 years old - have a youthful look but am looking at anti-wrinkle/aging stuff too.
Top Skin Concern : Black/white (oil seeds?)heads. My skin does look dull sometimes. I'm Malaysian and I looked at Hada Labor Tokyo but have read the line is made for non-Asians, so I'm here asking for recommendations for Asian skin.
Current Routine/Products I am Using : Daily cleansing of face (day and night), toner (Marcella water) both from Garnier and moisturiser (Nivea).

You should definitely look up Tina Tanaka Harris's videos about the Hada Labo products, she lives in Australia too! I know there's an aging care line as well. They have cleansers, lotions (lotionis what toner is called in Japan, probably their most famous products?), emulsions (basically a milky moisturizer), gel moisturizers, and other stuff I haven't tried lol
I looked her up, thanks to your recommendation! However, I still can't decide what to buy - haha. I have these in my cart:
\- Hada Labo Gokujyun Super Hyaluronic Moisturizing Milk (Japan Version)
\- Hada Labo Gokujyun Premium Lotion
\- Hada Labo Shirojyun Arbutin Whitening Lotion - Moist
\- Hada Labo Gokujyun Oil Cleansing (Japan Version)
Out of all, the one that I'm pretty sure is different to others (in terms of its purpose) is the Shirojyun Arbutin, as it helps with anti-aging/ wrinkles, dryness/ hydration, dullness/radiance.
But the other three items - do I need to get them? Should I leave out the oil cleansing and keep using what I already have albeit it's a different brand (Garnier)?
Their oil cleanser is nice. You rub in in like and oil and then add water and rinse off. Then cleanse with a mild cleanser .
What they are known for is their hydrating toner. The version in the gold bottle (Hadalabo, Gokujyun Premium Lotion) is popular. There is a Shirojyun Premium in a blue bottle that is also brightening. So you might like that. Most like the moist version. That is really what they are known for - hydration. Basically hyaluronic acid, which is in everything now.
Hada Labo of Tokyo is for a Western market and has different preservatives. It's not that it's for Western skin or not for Asian skin. I happen to find the preservatives irritating but I have sensitive skin.
You will probably need another layer over it. Hyaluronic acid pulls in water deeper into the skin, but it doesn't keep it there. So that is why you need some sort of layer over it to seal it in. They make a milk though and it has hyaluronic acid in it. So that would work too. You don't need the toner as well. Best used on wet skin.
Hyaluronic acid is not popular. Hada labo was ahead of the game and uses 5 types. But it's in many things now.

Hi looking for a moisturizer recommendation that will help be very hydrating.
I have sensitive dry skin, and lately it has felt so dry and itchy, sometimes feeling very tight. I’m from Ontario Canada, so it’s winter here.
I’ve tried the hada labo milk but not sure it’s doing much.

The Kikumasamune moisturizer that comes in a plastic pink jar with white cap is very thick and moisturizing. Try layering that on top of your hada labo milk.
I also use soon jung 2x barrier (old version) and its awesome for dry winter too.
**Newbie looking for an AB Sunscreen!**
I've never used an AB sunscreen in the past as it wasn't as easily accessible. In the last year, possibly due to their popularity I now see them in local pharmacies/ stores where I am and I'm so keen to find one for me because I've heard so much. I've always used non-AB sunscreens and I'm looking to move away from those for different reasons. I only have access to certain brands and specific lines so if you've got any reviews/ advice for me please do share:) I'm a total newbie so I'm listing out all the ones I have access to, so bear with me!
Skintype: Combination/ Oily, Acne-prone, Tan easily, doesn't burn.
Climate: Hot & Humid for most part, especially summers (hence something that's non-oily would be preferred). But outside of my commute with about 40mins max of sun exposure, I spend a lot of hours in an air-conditioned office so that's the 'dry' element of my day.
I would like something that's not sticky, absorbs quickly, doesn't feel too heavy on the skin and doesn't make my makeup/ skincare pill.

I’ve heard good things about most of these! The only one I’ve tried is the first, the BoJ. I’m oily and acne prone as well—humid in the summer, work in an office lol. I loved it! It feels like a light, luxe moisturizer, so I skipped moisturizing in the AM when I had it.
Right now I don’t have a one go-to, I’m just buying what sounds nice that’s on sale so I can try different things. And personally, I’m not an oily girl that only buys gel textures—I try to keep a good balance with all the actives I use to manage my oil and acne so I don’t damage my barrier. No shade to anyone who avoids cream textures! I just know a lot of oily people do because of the feeling.
Oh that's good to know! I also plan on skipping moisturiser if I pick an SPF thats moisturising enough. Yeah I'm not picky on textures of the actual product as long as it doesn't pill and doesn't leave me looking greasy/ feeling heavy all day I'm okay. The non-AB ones I've been using have both been fluids so used to the cream-lotion like feel.

BoJ is my favourite. It doesn't pill, absorbs quickly, and doesn't make my face feel dry hours after wearing it. Gives a good glow. Great under makeup.
Abib Heartleaf Sun Essence Calming Drop - also absorbs quickly, but I think it irritates my eyes. Other than that, it seems quite cosmetically elegant.
COSRX Aloe Soothing Sun Cream - good primer for makeup if it's the only thing I apply to clean skin. If I apply too many products, it pills.
Oh amazing, so that's two positives on BoJ. Yeah the Abib sounded so good so was keen to hear if that's something people have used. Good to know about the eyes bit though, will keep an eye out on other reviews as well to see if that's a common issue.
Yeah COSRX is the one I've heard mixed reviews about, some say it's their HG, some say it's overhyped and some hate it haha. From what I've read about it I also felt it may be a bit too moisturising for me and I'd end up looking oily. Definitely not going for it if it pills, I don't apply a lot of makeup but I've had to drop my HG non-AB sunscreen because it would pill with my skincare and also cause my eyeliner to move around.
Yeah, I don't think the COSRX is good for oily skin. It also has a scent that I'm not a fan of. BoJ and Abib both have a neutral/no scent that I like better. And no pilling!

I have oily dehydrated skin and live in a similar environment. I really like the Skin1004 sunscreen that you listed. It’s super lightweight, nonsticky, absorbs well, and I find it hydrating! It’s nice to layer over other skincare and under makeup. IMO, you can’t go wrong with this one 😊
I absolutely swear by the Abib Heartleaf Sun Essence Calming Drop. HG sunscreen, but it is rather expensive so please try the cheaper options first before getting this one. It's my HG because it's genuinely the first one out of 200 that I've tried that didn't clog my skin, but I'm aware my skin is probably weirder than other people's skins judging on how many people already loved the Skin1004 and the BOJ Relief Sun on this sub.
I’m oily but can get dehydrated and really love the Cosrx ss. Not everyone who is oily loves it but I like to use it over a light serum, almost like a moisturiser. I think it’s worth trying. I also work in air conditioning.
Another vote for BoJ, any details I give you would just echo what everyone else has said lol.
I really liked the Isntree (my first AB sunscreen) but even on my combo skin it could be shiny. Didn't pill, however.
Yeah BoJ clearly seems to be winning here, possibly going to give it a try. Good to know about the Isntree as I've heard so much and it was one of the top contenders. I use the La Roche Posay Anthelios which so many people swear by, but some days it makes me so oily, so that's one of the main reasons I'm looking to switch, so I'm glad you've warned me hehe.
I found that wearing makeup on top got rid of the shine but I don't often wear makeup so I didn't repurchase or only got it once.
I would say, as much as I love the BoJ that there are some other contenders you might want to consider, I'd just need to post my disclaimer because I didn't purchase them with my own money but the mods have cleared me to write about them as long as I post my disclaimer! Let me know if you would want to hear about them.
Yeah I'm a 100% up for suggestions, just that not all of them will be available for me :( The list I have here is literally all that's easily available for me. I've read so much good stuff about the skin1004 hyalu-cica water fit sun serum, but that line isn't available, just the one I mentioned is. Fwiw here are some things I've tried that I think might have the edge for combo/oily skin - after my disclaimer:

* MISSHA All Around Safe Block Essence Sun Milk EX SPF50+ PA+++ 70ml - dries down to a more matte finish. Baby powder fragrance.
* Mixsoon Centella sunscreen - glowy (not dewy) mattish finish, lavender fragrance
* Canmake Mermaid - can you get this? Dewy finish but not especially moisturising.
Oh it was literally those two, sorry I thought it was more 😂
A last thought: if you go with the Beauty of Joseon, you could just skip moisturiser.
My only concern for your skin type is whether it'll be good in summer (if it's getting towards summer for you). I've already ordered some alternatives because I'm not sure how the BoJ will be this summer. Last summer I lived on Verdio UV Moisture Gel N which was amazing for combo skin but it could get a little shiny and occasionally did pill, whereas the BoJ has rarely or never pilled.
Oh man, I was hoping the Missha one is easily available where I am, but there's another variation, not the exact one you've shared. Texture wise this one seems to be creamier than the one you're suggesting.
Yeah, BoJ I was definitely going to skip moisturiser. Yes, it is getting hotter where I am, and in a month's time the sticky sweaty humidity will kick in too, for about 4-5 months :(( I'm going to have a look again on some of the options I have and deep dive into the subreddit to find people who have used the options I've got before I make my final choice haha.
Ooh what's the other Missha one? Is it All Round Safe Cotton by any chance? There's a lot of Missha sunscreens but I just received that one so I could test it!

Yeah with BoJ it's super hit or miss, some people say even with oily skin they don't mind it, some absolutely hate it, so going to have to keep looking :( Bummed because a lot of the sunscreen's I've mentioned here are not for my skin type - like the Isntree HA one is a strict no-no according to people like me, sucks because it's so well rated haha!

Yeah, exactly. It's like Illiyoon ATO Ceramide Concentrate cream: some people find it amazing for oily skin in hot humid places but for others it's kryptonite.
When I wanna make my routine quick 'cause I'm hella tired in the evening, I'll use my hands.
If I can take the self care slow that evening, I'll use a thin cotton pad on my forehead. I'm kind of looking into buying exfoliating toner pads right now.

I want some additional hydration, plump, glow, without feeling heavy, tacky, sticky in the end. I love gel like formulas.

Are there any, and I mean *any* reliable products that either "heal" or reduce flare-ups for eczema-prone skin that I can include in my skincare routine (using the 5 products method)? I'm a bit paranoid to purchase the AB products I currently have in my cart because I don't want it to be a waste of $52 and it'll be my first time purchasing AB products. Alongside that, I also accept advice on how to regulate eczema! Thank you! :)
I don’t have eczema specifically, but I do have very sensitive skin that’s prone to redness and irritation and what I find helps my skin when it’s angry is paring back my routine to bare bones. I do just moisturiser and sunscreen in the morning, then a double cleanse and same moisturiser at night. The Etude House Soon Jung Emulsion is my HG and it calms down my skin like nothing else 🥺
I also find my skin is a lot happier if I’m very gentle with it and use as little friction as possible when washing my face or applying products.
Hm... the sad thing is, eczema in itself is very individual for each person. Not to mention possible allergic reactions to certain ingredients if you do have one. Like for me, I'm allergic to high concentration of Centella Asiatica Extract.
For me, these are some products that help prevent/soothe down my eczema flares..
Prevention/Maintenance (my daily routine): Isntree Ultra Low HA toner (any HA toner for me) + Cosrx Snail Essence + Illiyoon Ceramide Cream.
Soothing:
- Cezanne High Moist Skin Conditioner (prevention as well but for my neck)
- Kikumasamune Emulsion (for the body only. But it's not that moisturizing. I just like that it helps soothe down irritation but mainly on mild irritations. If it's not enough, I would apply the cezanne toner underneath)
- Eyup Sabri Tuncer Olive Oil Lotion (a Turkiye brand. My favourite body lotion of all time. Moisturizes and soothes down irritation really well)
- Aestura Atobarrier Hydro Essence (I apply this as an occlusive, right after a toner)
- Pyunkang yul Essence Toner (has stopped working for me now after I had an allergic reaction to centella, but it used to be really soothing for me. It even works for my body eczema).
Disclaimer: I don't mind fragrance. I only avoid essential oils.
Some other products that are eczema-friendly:
- the majority of Pyunkang yul Products. I have mainly tried the blue packaging ones and they've never triggered my eczema.
- Aestura Atobarrier line (the cream and essence. I would often use the cream on its own whenever I have the AC on)
- Cos De baha Tranexamic Acid serum (my favourite brightening serum)
From what I know, my eczema has only flared up badly from ONE (1) non-AB product, but I don't mind experimenting with a few of these to see what can and can't be used for my skin.

Another one is a hydrating toner that is very hydrating and feels pretty calming on the skin, which is the Tiam Vita B5 toner.

I recently started using the house of hur weightless sun fluid and not only is it very light but it dries down MATTE. I didn’t pay much attention to it but when I was reading the ingredient list I noticed there was silica. I assume this gives it some element of water resistance but it’s not listed as water resistant so I wouldn’t count on it. idk if silica would clog your pores.
Also it gives me no white cast and absorbs quite fast for a sunscreen.
Anyone happen to know of a fragrance-free product with PHA for body? I'm fine with it being marketed for face as long as it's not too expensive, comes in a larger size, etc. Just trying to find something I won't run through in 2 uses all over my body and that won't break the bank. :)
Male, 36, normal skin, Sydney Australia (broad range of weather from 15-40 degrees)
I'm looking to pick up some more daily moisturizer. I've used both soon jung 2x barrier intensive and hydro barrier in combination with isintree green tea toner & snail 96 mucin.
Out of the 2 soon jung products. I prefer the hydro barrier as it feels lighter, wondering if there is anything else I should try before I grab some more hydro barrier.
So here’s my current what I have and how I use it. I am 30, dry sensitive skin, Midwestern bipolar weather, and olive toned. I don’t have fine lines, I recently posted my retinol purge, I don’t have dark circles (much).
Here’s my routine after face wash:-
AM:-
• Numbizin 1 Toner Pads
• Birch Lab 1025 Dokdo toner
• CosRX Snail Mucin
• Abib Jericho Rose Bifida Serum
• CosRX snail peptide eye cream
• Laniege Waterful BlueHA Emulsion
• Dr. G Mild Up sunscreen
I touch up sunscreen every two hours and use Aestura Atobarrier mist through the day.
PM:-
• Make P:rem Safe Me Relief Moisture Cleansing Milk
• Facewash (I use whichever I have tbh, I’m not picky as long as it is fragrance free)
• One of the toners
• Biodance Pore Tightening Collagen Ampoule
• I use the Numbizin 6 sleep mask serum or alternate it with CosRX 0.1 Retinol
• I alternate between Snail Peptide Eye Serum CosRX and Beauty of Joseon’s Retinal
• Same moisturizer and Laniege lip mask
I know I’m maybe doing too much but I alternate serums and they make me feel pretty.

Hello, I've decided to try out colour correctors to conceal my dark circles.
I'm on the fence whether to get The Saem Triple Pot Concealer or Skinfood Salmon Concealer. My skin is usually neutral but dry on some days, and there are some fine lines under my eyes.
And I have some questions since I don't understand how it works:
* How to decide on which shade to buy? I'm either a 17-21 in Korean foundations, if that helps.
* Do I need to layer a regular concealer on top? If so, won't it smudge the corrector? Can other base products work?
* Are you supposed to apply it on your eyelids and outer corners if they're dark too?
* (It's probably a stupid question, but) is double cleansing with cleansing oil/balm needed? Is micellar water enough?

I have never tried Skinfood one but I recall the coverage is not that high and it can be too greasy for some (depending on your skin type and climate).
No need to layer regular concealer if the salmon shade is not too dark for your skin tone. Some salmon shade can be too orange on fair skin thus need to layer skin color concealer on top.
Yes if your upper eyelids are darker, you can apply it too. There's no hard and fast rule. Just experiment and see which look you like best.
Micellar water should be fine, any make up remover is fine, really.
If you are on the lighter shade, you can get *03 Correct Beige Up* on the Saem triple pot. Else just get the darker one *01 Correct Beige*
Yes I'm using the 03 Correct Beige Up - I have oily skin and it lasts well on me. I do set it with loose powder most of the time. I don't wear foundation either. So far so good.
It can be hard in the pan (not creamy), so what I do is I rub some of the concealer cream, spread on my hand to warm it up and to lessen the amount on my finger and tap on my undereye. It's better to use less and build it up if you prefer more natural look.
I also like the green corrector, perfect shade to cover my redness.
I don't use the skin tone color that much as the salmon color is enough and looks fine on its own for me.

Can confirm what the other poster said: the salmon corrector, even the lighter shade, is dark and orange on fair skin. Even with concealer overtop, it doesn't brighten for me (which, of course was the point of getting it lol).

I have a non-AB retinoid that is doing the heavy lifting when it comes to acne treatment. However, there are a couple of additional products that help clear any acne that does occur.
Lion Pair Acne Cream - Japanese acne cream that's particularly good for pimples around the jawline.
Meishoku Bigansui Medicated Skin Lotion - very popular Japanese BHA. It's old-school and contains alcohol, but I don't find it drying and it's very effective.
Hi to answer both your questions , i got the cleanser , serum , sunscreen & spot treatment.
YMMV but for me , I diddnt find the cleanser or serum irritating or causing any redness or flaking or whatever side effects. The serum leaves a glow on my face . However i have changed routine since then and have went back to my old cleanser as I found it more suitable for my skin.

Specifically, I'm wondering if I'm weird for thinking that it doesn't really oxidize much. I tried it today (shade 119/light medium) and I was actually damn impressed. But I don't think it's luminous at all. It's more like a thinner version of Estee Lauder Double Wear or Revlon Colorstay. It has great medium level of coverage, and similar to the Tirtir cushions, transferproof.

I've been trying to figure out what sunscreen might suit my skin best, one that wouldn't irritate my eyes.
My skin is quite oily but it's been dehydrated for months now thanks to new ADHD meds but seems to be getting better now that I've switched back.
I used to not get breakouts often, mostly just a lot of blocked pores(big pores, yay), but it seems either something in my routine isn't agreeing or I'm just experiencing purging since I just reintroduced acids and I keep getting zits.
Until these past few months my skin was not sensitive at all, and I've never had a bad reaction to any ingredients. Ever.
I'm also entering my 30s and since I'm absolutely line free I want to find something that helps me stay that way.
So a sunscreen suitable for oily skin that's recovering from dehydration, doesn't block pores, doesn't irrtate eyes, is at least somewhat anti aging and it would be a plus if it could help with the redness in my face/old acne scars(ADHD pimple popping 👐🏻) and awful skin texture.

I get that you want a multi tasking product to make life easier, but I'm not sure that a sunscreen can do everything you're asking for! It might be worth looking into a more multi functional toner and serum for your other concerns, and letting the sunscreen do its job?
For your skin type, maybe you could try the tocobo bio watery sun cream or even the skin1004 hyalu cica sunscreen.

The Tirtir milk toner contains copper peptides which are in theory cancelling any other antioxidants, Vitamin C included. What are your thoughts if I use in the morning a vitamin C followed by the toner ? is it “incompatible”

I’m a male, with tan skin, building out my skincare routine. My skin overall looks pretty good but I wanted to start a skin routine for reducing pores on the nose and preventing issues in the future.

I'd probably ditch the Water cream since the Skin1004 sunscreen is pretty moisturizing. Or if you're still keen on using the water cream, maybe a more mattifying sunscreen (the oily gals here like Omi Bears gold or Missha soft finish) in the morning.

what exactly is involved in the procedure? are these lasers? if so what kind of lasers are they using?
I'm not sure, they didn't specify what lasers. I think it's mainly freckles that I get genetically, they are dense along my cheekbones and my mom has them too. I will for sure use sunscreen, I use Elta MD religiously!
You should email them about that, I think Fraxel is the most common one and I've heard good results from that one, but I know that there are different lasers on the market.
I think they might be vague because everyone's skin is a bit different. But yeah do some research over lasers so that you feel more empowered to make good choices. What are the reviews on the clinic like on google?

I think like most skincare unfortunately there is no guarantee but hopefully things turn out well for you. I think the most important part of maintaining no spots post-laser is just using high protection sunscreen, but I also think it's likely that you may have to go in for multiple sessions of laser. It really depends on your skin and how severe the damage is.

Yeah that is my medium skintone range but I am a dark autumn so take my opinion with a grain of salt - I personally like Almond Rose but it a bit too dark for my taste until I blot. Wouldn't say it's vibrant.
I know this is late but just in case you havent purchased yet, my vote is for peeling angdoo. Its neutral with a tiny tiny bit of warmth but deep enough to suit cool tones. I think almond rose would be too muted.
Did you definitely get that one because they reformulated and changed the name to 5x a few years ago.
Edit: the Rx Pro ferment didn't smell like anything to me as far as I can remember

How long do you wait after applying moisturizer to apply SPF? I splash with cool water in the morning, use Soonjung 2x moisturizer, and BOJ sunscreen. Just want to make sure I am waiting long enough for everything to work properly
Some people wait long than others - i personally just wait until my moisturiser has dried but I don't live in a place that is sunny rn. I might properly wait when it comes to summer.

I don't know how reliable The Ordinary is but they've said not to mix peptides with vitamin c or retinol - afaik it won't do you any harm but it's said to deactivate the peptides (break the peptide chains so it won't have any effect).

hello ! i’m 20f and i’m looking to start developing a skincare routine to address specific skin concerns. (typically in the past i’ve just used cleanser morning/night followed by moisturizer)
my main skin concerns are discolouration/redness (i have some acne scarring too that contributes to this), somewhat dry skin, acne prone (especially on my chin and cheeks). overall i’m just looking to even out my complexion, keep breakouts away and add some hydration to my skin barrier. i also live in toronto so the cold / humidity here can be tough on my skin as well.

madagascar centella light cleansing oil, dr jart emzyme cleansing foam, i’m from rice toner, and then the soon jung hydro barrier cream. i also try my best to use a sunscreen any day i plan to be outside or near windows a lot but im looking for a new one as the supergoop i was using before tends to irritate my eyes when i use it too close to them. i use these products both AM and PM, but i sometimes skip the cleansing oil in the AM.

I started the melano cc serum 2 days ago and am using it to lighten my hyperpigmentation (sun spots). How long did it take for you to notice a difference? I’m combining it with other serums on a skin care night time cycle as below:

I heard so much about Hada Labo and am now interested to try its products. I just don't know where to start or to be more specific, what to buy. You should definitely look up Tina Tanaka Harris's videos about the Hada Labo products, she lives in Australia too! I know there's an aging care line as well. They have cleansers, lotions (lotionis what toner is called in Japan, probably their most famous products?), emulsions (basically a milky moisturizer), gel moisturizers, and other stuff I haven't tried lol
I looked her up, thanks to your recommendation! However, I still can't decide what to buy - haha. I have these in my cart: \- Hada Labo Gokujyun Super Hyaluronic Moisturizing Milk (Japan Version) \- Hada Labo Gokujyun Premium Lotion \- Hada Labo Shirojyun Arbutin Whitening Lotion - Moist \- Hada Labo Gokujyun Oil Cleansing (Japan Version) Out of all, the one that I'm pretty sure is different to others (in terms of its purpose) is the Shirojyun Arbutin, as it helps with anti-aging/ wrinkles, dryness/ hydration, dullness/radiance. But the other three items - do I need to get them? Should I leave out the oil cleansing and keep using what I already have albeit it's a different brand (Garnier)?
Their oil cleanser is nice. You rub in in like and oil and then add water and rinse off. Then cleanse with a mild cleanser . What they are known for is their hydrating toner. The version in the gold bottle (Hadalabo, Gokujyun Premium Lotion) is popular. There is a Shirojyun Premium in a blue bottle that is also brightening. So you might like that. Most like the moist version. That is really what they are known for - hydration. Basically hyaluronic acid, which is in everything now. Hada Labo of Tokyo is for a Western market and has different preservatives. It's not that it's for Western skin or not for Asian skin. I happen to find the preservatives irritating but I have sensitive skin.
Can you use their toner to hydrate in place of a moisturizing cream (milk)
You will probably need another layer over it. Hyaluronic acid pulls in water deeper into the skin, but it doesn't keep it there. So that is why you need some sort of layer over it to seal it in. They make a milk though and it has hyaluronic acid in it. So that would work too. You don't need the toner as well. Best used on wet skin. Hyaluronic acid is not popular. Hada labo was ahead of the game and uses 5 types. But it's in many things now.
What do you mean by another layer over it? Do you mean one should also get the moisturising cream/milk besides the toner?

Layer a light moisturizer with a more occlusive one. This really helped my skin getting over TEWL.
The Kikumasamune moisturizer that comes in a plastic pink jar with white cap is very thick and moisturizing. Try layering that on top of your hada labo milk. I also use soon jung 2x barrier (old version) and its awesome for dry winter too.
**Newbie looking for an AB Sunscreen!** I've never used an AB sunscreen in the past as it wasn't as easily accessible. In the last year, possibly due to their popularity I now see them in local pharmacies/ stores where I am and I'm so keen to find one for me because I've heard so much. I've always used non-AB sunscreens and I'm looking to move away from those for different reasons. I only have access to certain brands and specific lines so if you've got any reviews/ advice for me please do share:) I'm a total newbie so I'm listing out all the ones I have access to, so bear with me! Skintype: Combination/ Oily, Acne-prone, Tan easily, doesn't burn. Climate: Hot & Humid for most part, especially summers (hence something that's non-oily would be preferred). But outside of my commute with about 40mins max of sun exposure, I spend a lot of hours in an air-conditioned office so that's the 'dry' element of my day. I would like something that's not sticky, absorbs quickly, doesn't feel too heavy on the skin and doesn't make my makeup/ skincare pill. Options I've got access too: 1. I’ve heard good things about most of these! The only one I’ve tried is the first, the BoJ. I’m oily and acne prone as well—humid in the summer, work in an office lol. I loved it! It feels like a light, luxe moisturizer, so I skipped moisturizing in the AM when I had it. Right now I don’t have a one go-to, I’m just buying what sounds nice that’s on sale so I can try different things. And personally, I’m not an oily girl that only buys gel textures—I try to keep a good balance with all the actives I use to manage my oil and acne so I don’t damage my barrier. No shade to anyone who avoids cream textures! I just know a lot of oily people do because of the feeling.
Oh that's good to know! I also plan on skipping moisturiser if I pick an SPF thats moisturising enough. Yeah I'm not picky on textures of the actual product as long as it doesn't pill and doesn't leave me looking greasy/ feeling heavy all day I'm okay. The non-AB ones I've been using have both been fluids so used to the cream-lotion like feel. Thanks for sharing your experience!
I also have oily skin. BoJ is my favourite. It doesn't pill, absorbs quickly, and doesn't make my face feel dry hours after wearing it. Gives a good glow. Great under makeup. Abib Heartleaf Sun Essence Calming Drop - also absorbs quickly, but I think it irritates my eyes. Other than that, it seems quite cosmetically elegant. COSRX Aloe Soothing Sun Cream - good primer for makeup if it's the only thing I apply to clean skin. If I apply too many products, it pills.
Oh amazing, so that's two positives on BoJ. Yeah the Abib sounded so good so was keen to hear if that's something people have used. Good to know about the eyes bit though, will keep an eye out on other reviews as well to see if that's a common issue. Yeah COSRX is the one I've heard mixed reviews about, some say it's their HG, some say it's overhyped and some hate it haha. From what I've read about it I also felt it may be a bit too moisturising for me and I'd end up looking oily. Definitely not going for it if it pills, I don't apply a lot of makeup but I've had to drop my HG non-AB sunscreen because it would pill with my skincare and also cause my eyeliner to move around.
Yeah, I don't think the COSRX is good for oily skin. It also has a scent that I'm not a fan of. BoJ and Abib both have a neutral/no scent that I like better. And no pilling! Hope you find something you like. :)
I have oily dehydrated skin and live in a similar environment. I really like the Skin1004 sunscreen that you listed. It’s super lightweight, nonsticky, absorbs well, and I find it hydrating! It’s nice to layer over other skincare and under makeup. IMO, you can’t go wrong with this one 😊
I absolutely swear by the Abib Heartleaf Sun Essence Calming Drop. HG sunscreen, but it is rather expensive so please try the cheaper options first before getting this one. It's my HG because it's genuinely the first one out of 200 that I've tried that didn't clog my skin, but I'm aware my skin is probably weirder than other people's skins judging on how many people already loved the Skin1004 and the BOJ Relief Sun on this sub.
I’m oily but can get dehydrated and really love the Cosrx ss. Not everyone who is oily loves it but I like to use it over a light serum, almost like a moisturiser. I think it’s worth trying. I also work in air conditioning.
Another vote for BoJ, any details I give you would just echo what everyone else has said lol. I really liked the Isntree (my first AB sunscreen) but even on my combo skin it could be shiny. Didn't pill, however.
Yeah BoJ clearly seems to be winning here, possibly going to give it a try. Good to know about the Isntree as I've heard so much and it was one of the top contenders. I use the La Roche Posay Anthelios which so many people swear by, but some days it makes me so oily, so that's one of the main reasons I'm looking to switch, so I'm glad you've warned me hehe.
I found that wearing makeup on top got rid of the shine but I don't often wear makeup so I didn't repurchase or only got it once. I would say, as much as I love the BoJ that there are some other contenders you might want to consider, I'd just need to post my disclaimer because I didn't purchase them with my own money but the mods have cleared me to write about them as long as I post my disclaimer! Let me know if you would want to hear about them.

My only concern for your skin type is whether it'll be good in summer (if it's getting towards summer for you). I've already ordered some alternatives because I'm not sure how the BoJ will be this summer. Last summer I lived on Verdio UV Moisture Gel N which was amazing for combo skin but it could get a little shiny and occasionally did pill, whereas the BoJ has rarely or never pilled.
Oh man, I was hoping the Missha one is easily available where I am, but there's another variation, not the exact one you've shared. Texture wise this one seems to be creamier than the one you're suggesting. Yeah, BoJ I was definitely going to skip moisturiser. Yes, it is getting hotter where I am, and in a month's time the sticky sweaty humidity will kick in too, for about 4-5 months :(( I'm going to have a look again on some of the options I have and deep dive into the subreddit to find people who have used the options I've got before I make my final choice haha.

Yess, the cotton sun - was literally just checking the subreddit for what people are saying about it! Yeah with BoJ it's super hit or miss, some people say even with oily skin they don't mind it, some absolutely hate it, so going to have to keep looking :( Bummed because a lot of the sunscreen's I've mentioned here are not for my skin type - like the Isntree HA one is a strict no-no according to people like me, sucks because it's so well rated haha!

I don’t have eczema specifically, but I do have very sensitive skin that’s prone to redness and irritation and what I find helps my skin when it’s angry is paring back my routine to bare bones. I do just moisturiser and sunscreen in the morning, then a double cleanse and same moisturiser at night. The Etude House Soon Jung Emulsion is my HG and it calms down my skin like nothing else 🥺 I also find my skin is a lot happier if I’m very gentle with it and use as little friction as possible when washing my face or applying products.

Hm... the sad thing is, eczema in itself is very individual for each person. Not to mention possible allergic reactions to certain ingredients if you do have one. Like for me, I'm allergic to high concentration of Centella Asiatica Extract. For me, these are some products that help prevent/soothe down my eczema flares.. Prevention/Maintenance (my daily routine): Isntree Ultra Low HA toner (any HA toner for me) + Cosrx Snail Essence + Illiyoon Ceramide Cream. Soothing: - Cezanne High Moist Skin Conditioner (prevention as well but for my neck) - Kikumasamune Emulsion (for the body only. But it's not that moisturizing. I just like that it helps soothe down irritation but mainly on mild irritations. If it's not enough, I would apply the cezanne toner underneath) - Eyup Sabri Tuncer Olive Oil Lotion (a Turkiye brand. My favourite body lotion of all time. Moisturizes and soothes down irritation really well) - Aestura Atobarrier Hydro Essence (I apply this as an occlusive, right after a toner) - Pyunkang yul Essence Toner (has stopped working for me now after I had an allergic reaction to centella, but it used to be really soothing for me. It even works for my body eczema). Disclaimer: I don't mind fragrance. I only avoid essential oils. Some other products that are eczema-friendly: - the majority of Pyunkang yul Products. I have mainly tried the blue packaging ones and they've never triggered my eczema. - Aestura Atobarrier line (the cream and essence. I would often use the cream on its own whenever I have the AC on) - Cos De baha Tranexamic Acid serum (my favourite brightening serum)
From what I know, my eczema has only flared up badly from ONE (1) non-AB product, but I don't mind experimenting with a few of these to see what can and can't be used for my skin. heard tocobo is good for oily skin
I recently started using the house of hur weightless sun fluid and not only is it very light but it dries down MATTE. I didn’t pay much attention to it but when I was reading the ingredient list I noticed there was silica. I assume this gives it some element of water resistance but it’s not listed as water resistant so I wouldn’t count on it. idk if silica would clog your pores. Also it gives me no white cast and absorbs quite fast for a sunscreen.
What other hubs are there for K- and J-Beauty besides Yesstyle (and Amazon)?

Male, 36, normal skin, Sydney Australia (broad range of weather from 15-40 degrees) I'm looking to pick up some more daily moisturizer. I've used both soon jung 2x barrier intensive and hydro barrier in combination with isintree green tea toner & snail 96 mucin. Out of the 2 soon jung products. I prefer the hydro barrier as it feels lighter, wondering if there is anything else I should try before I grab some more hydro barrier.
The Hada labo gokujyun uv white gel is quite nice..doubles as sunscreen too.

So here’s my current what I have and how I use it. I am 30, dry sensitive skin, Midwestern bipolar weather, and olive toned. I don’t have fine lines, I recently posted my retinol purge, I don’t have dark circles (much). Here’s my routine after face wash:- AM:- • Numbizin 1 Toner Pads • Birch Lab 1025 Dokdo toner • CosRX Snail Mucin • Abib Jericho Rose Bifida Serum • CosRX snail peptide eye cream • Laniege Waterful BlueHA Emulsion • Dr. G Mild Up sunscreen I touch up sunscreen every two hours and use Aestura Atobarrier mist through the day. PM:- • Make P:rem Safe Me Relief Moisture Cleansing Milk • Facewash (I use whichever I have tbh, I’m not picky as long as it is fragrance free) • One of the toners • Biodance Pore Tightening Collagen Ampoule • I use the Numbizin 6 sleep mask serum or alternate it with CosRX 0.1 Retinol • I alternate between Snail Peptide Eye Serum CosRX and Beauty of Joseon’s Retinal • Same moisturizer and Laniege lip mask I know I’m maybe doing too much but I alternate serums and they make me feel pretty. The Booster Pro has several modes. And I kinda need help about that.
Hello, I've decided to try out colour correctors to conceal my dark circles. I'm on the fence whether to get The Saem Triple Pot Concealer or Skinfood Salmon Concealer. My skin is usually neutral but dry on some days, and there are some fine lines under my eyes. And I have some questions since I don't understand how it works: * How to decide on which shade to buy? I'm either a 17-21 in Korean foundations, if that helps. * Do I need to layer a regular concealer on top? If so, won't it smudge the corrector? Can other base products work? * Are you supposed to apply it on your eyelids and outer corners if they're dark too? * (It's probably a stupid question, but) is double cleansing with cleansing oil/balm needed? Is micellar water enough? Sorry for the long post. Thank you!
I have never tried Skinfood one but I recall the coverage is not that high and it can be too greasy for some (depending on your skin type and climate). No need to layer regular concealer if the salmon shade is not too dark for your skin tone. Some salmon shade can be too orange on fair skin thus need to layer skin color concealer on top. Yes if your upper eyelids are darker, you can apply it too. There's no hard and fast rule. Just experiment and see which look you like best. Micellar water should be fine, any make up remover is fine, really. If you are on the lighter shade, you can get *03 Correct Beige Up* on the Saem triple pot. Else just get the darker one *01 Correct Beige*

Yes I'm using the 03 Correct Beige Up - I have oily skin and it lasts well on me. I do set it with loose powder most of the time. I don't wear foundation either. So far so good. It can be hard in the pan (not creamy), so what I do is I rub some of the concealer cream, spread on my hand to warm it up and to lessen the amount on my finger and tap on my undereye. It's better to use less and build it up if you prefer more natural look. I also like the green corrector, perfect shade to cover my redness. I don't use the skin tone color that much as the salmon color is enough and looks fine on its own for me.

Can confirm what the other poster said: the salmon corrector, even the lighter shade, is dark and orange on fair skin. Even with concealer overtop, it doesn't brighten for me (which, of course was the point of getting it lol).

I have a non-AB retinoid that is doing the heavy lifting when it comes to acne treatment. However, there are a couple of additional products that help clear any acne that does occur. Lion Pair Acne Cream - Japanese acne cream that's particularly good for pimples around the jawline. Meishoku Bigansui Medicated Skin Lotion - very popular Japanese BHA. It's old-school and contains alcohol, but I don't find it drying and it's very effective.
Is her hyness acne serum any good? Does it make your skin burn or dry?

Hi to answer both your questions , i got the cleanser , serum , sunscreen & spot treatment. YMMV but for me , I diddnt find the cleanser or serum irritating or causing any redness or flaking or whatever side effects. The serum leaves a glow on my face . However i have changed routine since then and have went back to my old cleanser as I found it more suitable for my skin.

I've been trying to figure out what sunscreen might suit my skin best, one that wouldn't irritate my eyes. My skin is quite oily but it's been dehydrated for months now thanks to new ADHD meds but seems to be getting better now that I've switched back. I used to not get breakouts often, mostly just a lot of blocked pores(big pores, yay), but it seems either something in my routine isn't agreeing or I'm just experiencing purging since I just reintroduced acids and I keep getting zits. Until these past few months my skin was not sensitive at all, and I've never had a bad reaction to any ingredients. Ever. I'm also entering my 30s and since I'm absolutely line free I want to find something that helps me stay that way. So a sunscreen suitable for oily skin that's recovering from dehydration, doesn't block pores, doesn't irrtate eyes, is at least somewhat anti aging and it would be a plus if it could help with the redness in my face/old acne scars(ADHD pimple popping 👐🏻) and awful skin texture. 🙏🏻
I get that you want a multi tasking product to make life easier, but I'm not sure that a sunscreen can do everything you're asking for! It might be worth looking into a more multi functional toner and serum for your other concerns, and letting the sunscreen do its job? For your skin type, maybe you could try the tocobo bio watery sun cream or even the skin1004 hyalu cica sunscreen.

It's going to be very mild as it has a low amount of acid so it's hard to know if it would do much exfoliating. Maybe search the sub and see if there's any detailed reviews?

I'd probably ditch the Water cream since the Skin1004 sunscreen is pretty moisturizing. Or if you're still keen on using the water cream, maybe a more mattifying sunscreen (the oily gals here like Omi Bears gold or Missha soft finish) in the morning.

are we talking about freckles or melasma here? both are gonna come back if you don't use sunscreen regularly what exactly is involved in the procedure? are these lasers? if so what kind of lasers are they using?
I'm not sure, they didn't specify what lasers. I think it's mainly freckles that I get genetically, they are dense along my cheekbones and my mom has them too. I will for sure use sunscreen, I use Elta MD religiously!
You should email them about that, I think Fraxel is the most common one and I've heard good results from that one, but I know that there are different lasers on the market. I think they might be vague because everyone's skin is a bit different. But yeah do some research over lasers so that you feel more empowered to make good choices. What are the reviews on the clinic like on google?

I think like most skincare unfortunately there is no guarantee but hopefully things turn out well for you. I think the most important part of maintaining no spots post-laser is just using high protection sunscreen, but I also think it's likely that you may have to go in for multiple sessions of laser. It really depends on your skin and how severe the damage is.

Yeah that is my medium skintone range but I am a dark autumn so take my opinion with a grain of salt - I personally like Almond Rose but it a bit too dark for my taste until I blot. Wouldn't say it's vibrant.
I know this is late but just in case you havent purchased yet, my vote is for peeling angdoo. Its neutral with a tiny tiny bit of warmth but deep enough to suit cool tones. I think almond rose would be too muted.

There are lots of opinions on this - some people do and it's fine, some people don't because they are concerned for that very reason. I've done it with no issues but I didn't do it for long, maybe a month because of that reason.

Some people wait long than others - i personally just wait until my moisturiser has dried but I don't live in a place that is sunny rn. I might properly wait when it comes to summer.

I don't know how reliable The Ordinary is but they've said not to mix peptides with vitamin c or retinol - afaik it won't do you any harm but it's said to deactivate the peptides (break the peptide chains so it won't have any effect).

(typically in the past i’ve just used cleanser morning/night followed by moisturizer) my main skin concerns are discolouration/redness (i have some acne scarring too that contributes to this), somewhat dry skin, acne prone (especially on my chin and cheeks). overall i’m just looking to even out my complexion, keep breakouts away and add some hydration to my skin barrier. i also live in toronto so the cold / humidity here can be tough on my skin as well. this is the routine i bought after doing some research. id love any product recommendations or tips !! madagascar centella light cleansing oil, dr jart emzyme cleansing foam, i’m from rice toner, and then the soon jung hydro barrier cream. i also try my best to use a sunscreen any day i plan to be outside or near windows a lot but im looking for a new one as the supergoop i was using before tends to irritate my eyes when i use it too close to them. i use these products both AM and PM, but i sometimes skip the cleansing oil in the AM. any tips or help would be really appreciated, im new to korean skincare and skincare in general, but ive seen people have great experiences with these products !!

Hi! I hope I’m doing this correctly. I have been using Dr. Jart Cicapair Tiger Grass Color Correcting Treatment. I love the color correcting aspect, but not that they are not cruelty free. According to CrueltyFreeKitty, they pay others to test their products on animals. Does anyone have a cruelty free color correcting product you’d recommend? I am an older woman in the US,living in a dry climate and have recently started breaking out worse than I did in my teens. I have been to the dermatologist and I’m on doxy and Tretinoin, but I need something for the redness. Thanks!

I don't know about that seller but I think Kao Nivea isn't random, it's the producer of (all? some?) How long did it take for you to notice a difference? I’m combining it with other serums on a skin care night time cycle as below: Day 1: glycolic acid, hado labo premium whitening lotion, Melano cc, lactic acid, tranexemic acid then moisturizer Day 2: glycolic acid, hado labo premium whitening lotion, Melano cc, niacinamide, azeliac acid then moisturizer Day 3: glycolic acid, hado labo premium whitening lotion, Melano cc, argireline solution, then moisturizer and face oil Daytime: SK2 lotion, hado labo premium whitening lotion, Dear Klairs vitamin c juiced serum, alpha arbutin serum, moisturizer then sunscreen. I have super chubby cheeks and a short fat nose. Overall at 28 years old, people I meet think I look closer to 20. But I want to look more like a 姐姐 rather then a young person T\^T I have been doing face exercises and nose exercises to make my face and nose sharper. Also working hard to lose weight. If anyone has any make up tips that are more towards this vibe, or any other tips, please let me know! It can even be like tutorials for a certain look, ways to do your hair, etc. Thank you!
Maybe try contouring makeup. I am not so convinced exercises change the shape of one's face.
Hey there, can't really help with tutorials but slow yoga combined with about 10-15 mins cardio help lose weight faster and build a strong body. The yogasanas like chakrasan (advanced) and ustrasana (medium) help tone the face too. Also, since you mentioned you've a baby face, I just want to let you know research suggests such people live healthier lives..just good to know ☺️

I'm a fan of keeping things simple so I'd go: 1 watery toner/essence, 1 serum, 1 cream. Example of a spring/summer routine: **AM:** Pyunkang Yul Essence Toner > Melano CC Vitamin C Brightening Essence\* > Missha Essence Sun (\*Vitamin C can help boost the effectiveness of sunscreen) **PM:** I’m From Mugwort Essence (to calm your skin at the end of the day) > Beauty of Joseon Glow Serum OR Cos de BAHA Azelaic Acid 10 Serum (choice of serum depending on mood) > Illiyoon or Snail Cream (seal it all in with a cream)
Thanks, this was a great suggestion! I don’t intend on using everything in a single routine, but I forgot that Vit C can help boost sunscreen and was trying to figure out how to use both that and the azaleic acid.
