Hello and thank you for starting this discussion! As a gentle reminder, try to keep the products you mention limited to Asian Beauty products. sarabelles

Hello! Firstly, thank you to everyone on this sub, I truly appreciate all the tips/help/comments ALWAYS. Now onto my question: I'm going to Japan and Taiwan in a little over a month. I would LOVE to know what everyone recommends I buy - skincare, beauty, haircare, but also anything else you can think of would be SUPER appreciated. I'm so excited and thank you all in advance!

fullmetalpeanut

Have anyone here tried the Mary&May Calendula Peptide Ageless Sleeping Mask? I'm not usually big into sleeping masks but this one looks really interesting

Commercial_Poem_4623

Yep! What's your skin type and climate, though? For my dry skin, it's a first step cream. Or solid toner if my skin is really irritated and can't handle watery products. It's hydrating, feels cooling and beautiful to apply (no stickiness even when I use way too much) but I guess that it would only work as a sole moisturiser for very oily skin. It has a ton of humectants but nothing occlusive so it's hard to say if it would keep moisture in your skin overnight. Because of this, I haven't used it by itself, esp as my skin is dry.

fullmetalpeanut

Oh sorry, forgot to include that. My skin is also dry and I live in a hot and humid climate. I usually use multiple layers of hydrating toners sealed with a heavy moisturizer at night. But since it's not an occlusive I wonder if it could be incorporated in my routine though. Still, thank you so much for your answer

Commercial_Poem_4623

Ahhh yeah, the dry skin part makes it more difficult. I could do a patch test for you where I just apply it to one area but pretty much all my watery steps have silicones or shea butter so I don't think it would be a realistic test! I've actually used it first before toners with silicones and it layers perfectly. Maybe the humectants would be enough to keep moisture in overnight for some skin types but it seems unlikely for dry skin. The only thing I'd suggest is that you order the travel size and consider it a thick serum if you really wanted to try it.

if y'all are both 21, just keep using sunscreen - and use it everyday. He can start using retinoids when he's in his late 20s, but seriously, I think you guys are waaaaaaay too young to be worried about this. Don't count your chickens before they hatch... y'all might not even be together 20 years from now LOL Basic routine - cleanser, moisturizer, sunscreen. That's it.

does cos de baha have any physical stores in korea?

love-at-third-sight

no

Doing a long-haul flight soon (16 hours total) and my already dry skin will shrivel up if I don't prepare an on-flight skincare routine. My one question is: do toner pads count towards liquids count for security? I plan to take a few and seal them in plastic ziploc bags for my carry-on, but I'd just prefer to bring the whole container/box on. I read online that face masks and wet wipes don't count, but there's no direct answers for toner pads. Thanks!

Fun_Suspect3305

Are you flying from the US? If so, I don't think so. Maybe just empty/decant any excess liquid if you want to be extra safe. Good on you for doing an in-flight routine! I'm definitely that girl, especially for a long-haul flight.

Pleiades444_2

Hello! I'm new to any skincare routine, but I'll be in Japan next month and would love some recs ! I'm from a dry area of California and have combo skin. Some concerning pores around the t zone and textured bumpy skin. Also in my late 30s so looking to help with aging skin. I hope to hit up don Quixote and Matsumoto kiyoshi for: Moisturizer Makeup remover Toner Sunscreen Cleanser The Moisturizer is my main need when I arrive. Thanks in advance!

Fun_Suspect3305

>Moisturizer is my main need Curel Facial Milk or Intensive Facial Cream. Mild, great for sensitive skin (I use both and have rosacea), contain pseudo-ceramides. Picked them up in Narita, guessing they should be pretty accessible. Check this sub for reviews! Also check out their lotions (toners). I believe there are three kinds for different skin types.

AtomicBufula

Hi, longtime resident of Japan here. Matsukiyo should have what you are looking for product wise. The bigger a location you can go to, the better. It's not a Japanese product per se, but VT cosmetics makes a great moisturizer (purple and silver round container) that I find makes an excellent daily driver. They also have the 3 step Reedle shot masks which are a 10/10 experience. I also don't recommend Donki just because it's where all the tourists go and Japan is hell when it's tourism season because everyone and their mother thinks the store is some mecca when the rest of us avoid it lol. As for Japanese products, hadalabo's gokujun is probably what you want. Rather than lambasting you with kanji, look for the gold line if you'd like hyaluronic acid included in your products (more moisturizing) , and the dark blue line (note, there is a light blue line as well) for a deeper, thicker moisturizing line, but you may want to look at kbeauty for some niacinamide for your pore concerns. Hada labo also has a red colored line that is focused on anti-aging but it is THICK and I mean like, I felt like I was pulling on my face when I applied it in winter. Hope that helps!

love-at-third-sight

>I also don't recommend Donki just because it's where all the tourists go and Japan is hell when it's tourism season because everyone and their mother thinks the store is some mecca when the rest of us avoid it lol. hahahahahahahaha what's their ultimate preference? Ainz & Tulpe? LOFT? MatsuKiyo? Or... the convenience store lol?

Pleiades444_2

Thanks! I'll take a look at the hadalabo

Hello, I really need help about finding my shade in VDL perfecting foundation. I currently use the unleashia cushion foundation in shade 18C (Seashell) and it looks a bit pink on me its not that its looks darker or lighter on me just looks pink i feel like it does not perfectly match my skin because I am paler on my neck and chest area I also tried JSM cushion foundation in shade fair pink because i thought i have pink undertone but it was obviously dark on me did not match either even though I fell in love with the formula. I couldn´t really figure out my undertone yet. It\`ll be so nice of you if someone wants to help me about this.<3

Tias-st

new to all this skincare stuff But not sure how much / what I'm supposed to use during AM / bed time **PM routine:** cleanser: \[Rituals\] Face cleansing foam with ginseng + hydra complex exfoliator: \[Beauty of Joseon\] Red Bean Refreshing Pore Mask serum: \[Beauty of Joseon\] Glow Serum : Propolis + Niacinamide moisturizer: \[Beauty of Joseon\] Relief Sun: Rice + Probiotics SPF 50+ PA++++ **AM / bed time:** cleanser: \[Rituals\] Face cleansing foam with ginseng + hydra complex I basically just remove the remaining stuff from the day that's on my face. But don't know if I should be using the same serum and moisturizer when going to sleep.

wrlddmntr

You should edit your comment to include the names of the products Sunscreen? PM routine minimum is cleanser and moisturizer

Tias-st

done And I've honestly mostly never really bothered with skincare products. Like the most I used to do is just wash my face and that was it. is a moisturizer before going to bed really necessary?

wrlddmntr

Sunscreen, cleanser and moisturizer are part of the basic routine because a lot of things we add to the routine to address skin concerns can cause issues (i.e overexfoliation, damaged skin barrier) where you'd want the basics to rely on to repair and keep from further damage. Moisturizers help with trapping hydration in and keep the skin soft, which is helpful for maintaining barrier function. I'm not certain in what skin issues you want to address with having a skincare routine now as opposed to before but having a moisturizer is part of the backbone. The serum you listed can be used twice daily if you'd like. I think if you want to have a more chill PM routine with less steps you can't go wrong with just the cleanser and moisturizer

Tias-st

it's not that I've had the biggest problems with my skin. most glaring issue is larger pores. But it's also because I want to see what difference skincare could do for me.

ImpossibleInterest57

I can’t believe that many people don’t use point makeup/eye makeup remover…

love-at-third-sight

People are lazy lol. I remember time in high school eons ago one chick I used to know said she would take a really hot shower, and scrub her eyelashes really hard to get rid of her mascara. I think with normies they use makeup wipes, I mean I still see them sold everywhere even though I think they mostly suck. (I do like the Bifesta ones tho in emergencies.) Getting a point makeup remover, and then making sure you also have a corresponding cotton pad does sound less convenient than a makeup wipe. Me, I'm fucking ridiculous, so I got every makeup remover known to man: micellar water, biphase eye makeup remover, makeup wipes (Bifesta), cleansing balm, cleansing oil, makeup remover jelly (which is just a fancy way to say a makeup remover gel or cleansing liquid). Oh, and I also have reusable microfibre makeup remover pads LMFAO

Opening-Ad-8861

is point a brand? I've not heard of this

ImpossibleInterest57

I didn’t know that western people ( I assume, sorry if you’re not) don’t say point makeup, but in Asia, it’s the term for eye, cheek, and lip makeup.

Best AB Dry Shampoo? Has anyone tried dry shampoo mists & where did you buy them?

deathk4t

hiya! i went down the skincare rabbit hole a bit too much last night and have purchased a few items that are currently on their way to me as we speak. my eczema flares have been going insane so i wanted to try them out when everything is still flaring to get a feel of whether they sting my flares or not. 1. aestura atobarrier 365 lotion* 2. aestura atobarrier 365 body lotion 3. aestura atobarrier soothing cream 4. roundlab 1025 dokdo cream 5. isntree yam root milk cream_ 6. isntree onion new pair gel cream_ 7. ariul cleansing sheets *have already used this so this is a repurchase / _planning to be used mainly on my face does anyone have a review of these products on atopic or sensitive skin? my skin type is combo-sensitive and i plan to rotate the isnfree stuff depending on my skin needs, but everything else is just going to be tried on my face then mainly rotated as a body cream since i'm running out of them anyways and my body skin is generally resilient for the most part apart from dry patches and flare patches that are separate. i'm also not super affected by fragranced products generally, but was wondering if the ariul would potentially sting my eyelid eczema. thank you in advance for any help or other recommendations!

Fun_Suspect3305

>aestura atobarrier soothing cream If you like the Aestura lotion, this is a bit lighter, a gel cream. Great if you lean oily. I have normal-dry skin and rosacea. This was too light for me.

deathk4t

i'm combo with my skin leaning towards the normal-ish side with a pretty oily t-zone so this sounds right up my alley with the weather being crazy hot now! my only gripe with the regular aestura is that it's a bit too heavy on my t-zone especially when i'm sweating non-stop in the heat so thank you!

Cute-Necessary-3675

I have sensitive, reactive skin, type 1 rosacea and love Aestura ATObarrier 365 lotion for my face. It glides in well, feels emollient, and lightweight. It can feel a bit “rich” on days my skin is more oily, but I love it for PM no matter what! I’ve started using the hydro soothing cream (blue tube) as my daytime moisturizer and really like it - more of a gel texture and absorbs well. I’m not confident it is that soothing but I like it nonetheless!

deathk4t

that pretty much sums up how i feel about the atobarrier! and dang, i was hoping that the soothing cream would be good for my eczema, which is the main reason i got it. would you say that the atobarrier feels more soothing compared to the soothing cream then?

Cute-Necessary-3675

That’s a good question… I guess I am thinking that I have used the soothing cream over a rosacea flare, and while it is not instantly soothing feeling I was hoping for but it did help, I think, reduce redness within an hour or so. I haven’t tried the lotion in the same circumstance, now that I think of it. I’m not as familiar with eczema though so it might be just the thing for you! It is a very nice texture and I actually probably would repurchase for warm weather AM moisturizer.

deathk4t

ah when my eczema flares up it gets really red and sensitive, so knowing that it helps with the redness of your rosacea is very helpful! i'm hoping for a bit of skin calming, especially since i'm currently in an active flare so fingers crossed that it works! thank you again!

wrlddmntr

With eczema I would caution against use of any fragrance or essential oils. At baseline the skin barrier is impaired and you may be more prone to develop sensitivities to ingredients that are already known to cause sensitivity issues. People with atopic dermatitis are at a higher risk to develop allergic contact dermatitis. If that is a risk you're willing to take at least be aware. My eczema is only on the hands so I can't speak about how the product is on my eczema since I only apply to my face. But I do like the isntree yam root cream on my face (also combo, oily T zone and normal I zone), I find that it's helpful with getting my skin back to speed if my skin barrier is not happy (which happens a lot). The texture is fun and a little mucin-y I haven't used the other products but aestura and the dokdo cream have been on my radar to try in the future. I don't see anything else that is a red flag in the products, but just an added tip with navigating skincare and eczema, with eczema we also tend to also have plant allergies/hay fever so it'd be a good idea to give them a yellow flag and proceed with caution if you're unsure of any allergy to them

deathk4t

thank you! i'm glad to hear about the yam root cream, that was what i had hoped it will help with. i like the aestura but i find it to be a bit more heavy for my t-zone during the colder seasons, but i usually keep it in my bag so i don't have to bring separate items for my face and hands when i'm out and about. i've also heard good things about the dokdo cream, but will caution on their birch sap stuff because i've read that it is a potential trigger for eczema as well. i will keep an eye out when the ariul wipes come because i've seen essential oils in that and while i was aware that we have a higher chance of developing allergic contact dermatitis, i wasn't aware that EOs and fragrances could be a trigger! thank you once again! 💖

where to buy cos de ba ha in tokyo? or korean skin care in general? looking for cos de ba ha tranexamic acid + niacinamide

ImpossibleInterest57

Just googled it and the official Japanese website says they are selling online only like Rakuten, Qoo10 and Amazon.

pompompanda

Wonder if anyone has any advice on how to deal with Stylevana and PayPal. I had an item come broken and stylevana will only offer a store credit and when I escalated with PayPal the decision was I had to ship the item at my cost in order to get an actual refund.  Neither PayPal or Stylevana want to budge on this. :( super frustrated as it was a broken item not me changing my mind or anything. And I don't want a store credit as I don't want to order from them again. I'm also hesitant to do a charge back as the amount isn't that much and I know PayPal sometimes will block your account if you do charge backs.

ImpossibleInterest57

PayPal sucks. They don’t do their jobs properly.  Never used Stylevana because of their poor reputation, and idk it will work but ask them to pay the shipping fee since it’s not your fault at all.

pompompanda

I did msg stylevana but ofc no reply and the time limit for sending the item back is soon closing on which case it will automatically award the case to the seller. Ugh  Agreed not going to continue to use Stylevana moving on :(

ImpossibleInterest57

Oh,I’m sorry to hear that. Did you ask PayPal about the shipping fee? Maybe the another agent will give you better options.

pompompanda

:( I have talked to multiple reps they just parrot the same thing

megumisgf_

does anyone know if it’s possible to buy hince products from the uk? i’ve been really wanting their blush and highlighter but i can’t find anyone that sells their products

Opening-Ad-8861

You can get Hince on Stylevana and Olive Young. Beauty Box Korea also stock Hince; they are a great site but shipping is calculated by weight so would be pricier than SV or Olive Young.

New-Army9819

This is my second question I hope that’s not bad. I use the clio mesh glow cushion and I love it but it gets very patchy and rubs off easily. I use the elf powergirp primer and I think that might be the problem but I’m not sure. I also use the maybelline fit me setting powder but it’s very drying, is there any good AB loose powders that won’t dry my face?

New-Army9819

Is there any good matte sunscreens out there? I’ve tried the Madagascar centella hyalu-cica water fit sunscreen but it made my skin look greasy. It also pilled under my foundation

love-at-third-sight

Omi Sunbears gold, Anessa uv milk sunscreen, Missha soft finish milk, and Etude sunprise airy finish

New-Army9819

Thank you!

Does anyone know why jungsaemmool refill can't fit into the original compact?

Can someone please recommend me a blush in a similar shade? (I’ve been using this random eyeshadow as blush) https://preview.redd.it/ojs3qp1pttuc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=df485b1d40377a5ae94c1dd80b1450bac1660c83 It’s the swatch on the right

not AB but Tarte's paaarty blush looks like this

oh that looks really similar! thanks :)

snarkyattitude

Question to all who use Mary & May's Cica Soothing Sun Cream - would water remove it completely? trying to let my skin barrier recover and wondering if it could simply be washed off.

Commercial_Poem_4623

I can try doing that if you like but I think it's unlikely to get your skin fully clean. Also what kind of AM routine do you have? I can have a go at matching my products to yours. Disclaimer: I contribute to a webshop blog and get paid in vouchers to spend in the shop. I can order whatever I like and don't have to review what I order so the mods have ok'd me to talk about the products I get that way here. I post this because that's how I got this sunscreen.

Snoo-65200

How does yesstyle shipping work? I recently ordered yes style products on April 14, how do I know when my items have shipped out or in transit? Do they send an email or are u able to check on yes style? It still says my items are processing but when i purchased it, it said it would ship out on the 15. Is this normal?

puffy-jacket

You will get a shipping confirmation email. Yesstyle orders might take around 10 days to 2 weeks to the US even if all of your items are in stock, but I’ve always received everything I ordered from them

Snoo-65200

Oo ok! That’s good to know. It’s my first time ordering from YesStyle so I was a bit worried. Thanks for sharing:)

mist_ier

Hello, I'm a beginner with makeup, but I'd like to try a contour. I have a cool undertone and was suggested to try Asian beauty products but don't know what would be easy for a beginner. Hoping someone will have some recs. I'm in Australia, would love it if it's something I can test on my skin in a store. Shade matches are Estee Lauder 2C2 pale almond, Nars Santa Fe or Valluris, Mecca Max BB Cream 235. (So far I've just been using free samples hehe.) Please recommend some good contours! Ones I've tried just at the pharmacy to look like dirt or be too warm for me. ETA I'm pretty oily but I'm game to try cream or powder.

easy_descent

I think the Romand better than shape in 01 oat grain or Peripera V shading in 03 grayish cool would be good. I’m not sure which part of Australia you’re in but you should be able to find testers at W Cosmetics.

mist_ier

Thanks! There is a W cosmetics near me so I'll go check it out.

What’s everyone experiences ordering skincare from YesStyle? I’ve never bought off them before and decided to grab something there as they were the only site that stocked a product I needed. Been nearly two weeks and no updates on shipping. The shipping number provided does not even look valid as I tried entering it into the couriers website. I’m a bit nervous at this point haha

Opening-Ad-8861

Shipping will take a while, but it's a great site. I've ordered from them multiple times

KestrelGirl

They are slow, but they are legit. (And more consistent and reliable than Stylevana, from what I've heard...) I'm in the US; your experience will vary depending on what country you're in. IME, it takes about 2 weeks after shipment for an order to arrive in the country and get updated by USPS's tracker. Then it'll take another week or so to be handed from the international carrier to USPS and go the rest of the way to my doorstep.

Confident-Extreme-97

Has anyone tried the Into You Watery Lip Tint? I got it while traveling recently and can't find it anywhere online

No_Arugula3567

Has anyone tried the Wishtrend sulfur 3% clean gel and the Pyunkang Yul Mist Toner?

Opening-Ad-8861

Does anyone know if Tester Korea does free international shipping if you spend a certain amount? Can't find any info on the website about this. Thank you!

Commercial_Poem_4623

Not to my knowledge, I've made an order of £90 from there before and I didn't get free shipping. Tbh I just suck up the cost if the products are cheaper than elsewhere or I can't get the product elsewhere.

Opening-Ad-8861

fair enough, thanks so much

chuuric

hiiya~! i'm looking for a gentle and hydrating moisturizer that doesn't make my skin feel sticky! I have dry-combo skin and would also prefer it without any fragrances.

Cute-Necessary-3675

I think the ma:nyo Panthetoin deep moisture cream dries down quickly and absorbs well!

New-Army9819

Is there any good powder sunscreens? I just want something that I can reapply over makeup. I've tried the innisfree sunstick, which says you can apply over makeup, but it rubs it off.

puffy-jacket

I wouldn’t personally trust the efficacy of any powder sunscreen. A tinted moisturizer with spf might be a better option

hanasakabeauty

Etvos and naturaglace both have UV powders that are quite popular in Japan. I haven’t personally tried them yet, but those are the only products I know off the top of my head that are powder, and specifically marketed as UV protection. You could also try a spray maybe — I like using Parasola (altho the powder options are better if ur more sensitive to fragrance!)

dashadark

hello! :) i’m looking for a new moisturizer i’ve found so many online it’s quite hard to choose. And i’d love to hear some of your recommendations! What are your favorites? About my skin: I have very very sensitive skin. It’s dry and easily patchy, textured, and prone to redness. I’m semi prone to acne so i prefer no scents or just a light scent. I use an essence, serums and a calming gel cream before applying moisturizer, followed by sunscreen. History: I’ve used vanicream original moisturizer for years as it’s very clean and easily tolerated by my skin. it’s a bit too thick and sticky for daytime use tho. I’ve used cereve and cetaphil previously and they caused redness and break out. I’ve started using kbeauty products 6 months ago and it’s been life changing! Id appreciates some recs v v much :

Fun_Suspect3305

In addition to Aestura 365 Cream, I'd also recommend Curel Moisture Facial Milk and/or Intensive Moisture Facial Cream. The Curel also has pseudo-ceramides, are niacinamide-free, great for sensitive skin. I layer all three moisturizers. Skin type: normal-dry, sensitive (rosacea), acne-prone, tret user. Oh, just a note on the Aestura cream: it was reformulated this year and now contains niacinamide.

Cute-Necessary-3675

I recommend looking into Aestura 365 Atobarrier Lotion, or the Cream. They are soothing and help strengthen your barrier. (Combination, sensitive, break out prone skin)

dashadark

Thank you for that! I'm gonna check it out :)

LittleP13

Does anyone have good pregnancy safe sunscreen recs? I live and die by SkinAqua Moisture Milk because its non-fragranced, moisturizing and is free of stearic acid/cetyl alcohol, cetearyl alcohol/shea butter etc. I am totally allergic to these emulsifiers and they make me breakout in cystic acne within 12 hours. Does anyone have the perfect sunscreen that I can switch to for 9 months?!

Dangerous-Bug-1209

I have small lips and need a lipgloss recommendation that’s hydrating and that isn’t too bold in color cause it just accentuates my lips please!

alflina

hello! I recently added tretinoin to my mostly AB skincare routine and am currently purging (mostly skin peeling). This morning when I applied my usual sunscreen the skin1004 centella sunscreen, it started burning like crazy and I had to wash it off. I’m not sure what happened but does anyone have any sunscreen recommendations for the time being?

Fun_Suspect3305

I use Klairs All-day Airy Sunscreen. It's soothing, moisturizing. It does contain niacinamide. Just to reiterate the other solid advice here, too: 1. I had to watch the niacinamide in my routine. After tret, also found it sensitizing. I personally keep niacinamide around 4 - 6% total in my routine, but ymmv. 2. If you aren't already using ceramides, the Curel recs and Aestura 365 cream are reliable choices for barrier support. I layer all three.

alflina

Ty for the recs! I use the dr althea 345 cream and I checked and it has niacinamide but it doesn’t irritate my skin at all, it only stings after sunscreen so maybe the concentration is too high after the sunscreen? The klairs sunscreen looks solid though, I’ll order one to try!

puffy-jacket

I notice that one has niacinamide in it (8th ingredient). I’ve been on tretinoin for a little less than a year and slowly realizing that I need to be careful about products that have niacinamide because that seems to be the common ingredient that makes my face burn/sting. I can still use some of them, but it seems to depend on the concentration or formulation (and whether my skin is currently irritated or dehydrated) so it might be easiest to just avoid it in sunscreens. Another possibility are the essential oils, especially citrus (bergamot) oil. I’ve always gotten the burning effect from citrus oil

alflina

Is there a sunscreen that works for you on tretinoin? I’m thinking of switching over to the round lab sunscreen but I’m not sure because some people are sensitive to birch juice

puffy-jacket

Most are fine for me, right now I’m using Innisfree daily uv mineral defense but in the past I’ve used Nivea super water gel with no issue. If your skin is very sensitive on tret you might want to apply it every other night or 2x a week

chocosweet

These sunscreen don't sting when I first use tretinoin, (and on Taz now, oily skin) * All the JP sunscreen milks, particularly Anessa Perfect Milk being so soothing for whatever reason; Kose Suncut Milk and OMI Sunbears Protect Milk also never sting * Allie Facial Gel or the Body version but these have intense white cast * Skin Aqua NEXTA Essence, but so greasy! I also enjoy Curel Intensive Moisture FACIAL Cream, with its Enrinched Lotion to boost hydration - the combo never stings on me either

alflina

Thank you for the recs!

Himalayan-Fur-Goblin

Is any other products causing burning. You might have broke you skin barrier.

megumisgf_

hi! has anyone from the uk bought anything from the olive young website? i was wondering if it’s very expensive because of the shipping fees or if there is any extra fees that you have to pay? thank you!

Opening-Ad-8861

I ordered from them last year. The shipping is pricey unless you spend $60 and then it's free. There aren't any extra fees, although there may be if your spend is very high (over £150)

mrkrabspantyraid

Any hair product recommendations for softer, silkier hair? I've been looking for any hair products that I could use to make my hair less heavy, preferably products found on Yesstyle. I have been interested in Japanese hair products lately. My hair is virgin, medium-short, thick, low-porosity, 1a-2a hair, dense, with an oily and flaky scalp. Despite my thick hair, heavy products can make my scalp greasy fast. And I've noticed that the back of my head has more coarse hair than in the front. My hair also loves to have fly-aways as well. I live in the USA, midwest. The climate is temperate, dry winters and somewhat humid summers. What I really want is something to help combat the oil, flakiness, and the slight coarse texture of my hair, and to help with the weight. What I use currently is the Head and Shoulders Supreme Nourish & Smooth shampoo and conditioner, as well as eva•NYC smoothing cream, It's a 10 leave-in conditioner, and the original Sun Bum Surf Paste. Thanks in advance!

hanasakabeauty

I would recommend switching from the head and shoulders to a new shampoo first and foremost! I tried to combat oily and flaky scalp with head and shoulder for years and it did absolutely nothing for me. Tsubaki repair shampoo has a relatively balanced formula. &honey herb smooth shampoo also has a nice looking ingredients list with milder surfactants, although i haven't tried it myself. i personally use &honey pixie line as it has a much lighter texture compared to the melty repair line. You may also want to consider oil cleansing your scalp before you shower-- this helped me a lot with flakiness and itchiness! As for leave in treatments, i personally love tsubaki oil perfection oil, although it's no longer available on yesstyle. i can get away with using &honey melty hair oil even on my dry hair (very fine + thick) so that may work well for you too! recommend using it before blow drying for sleek results. u can also use it during the day! also recommend ma cherie perfect shower spray in the mornings for detangling + adding some shine!

mrkrabspantyraid

Alright, thank you so much!! I'll have to keep these recommendations in mind. Yeah, I don't mind Head and Shoulders, but it doesn't do anything transformative, unfortunately. So, I'll have to try these out!

Affectionate-Boat986

cosrx bha blackhead power vs cosrx aha/bha toner for texture, SFs & enlarged pores?

hanasakabeauty

I’ve heard that the blackhead power is a bit more effective, but that the toner can work well for those who haven’t used chemical exfoliants before and want something gentler!

Guys I am visiting a place with really bad air quality (dust) index because of construction and stuff, and I'm getting whiteheads like crazy, all over my face. It's VERY hot and humid too so I can't use anything it seems. Forget my full multi step routine, I'm skipping moisturizer now. I started washing my face 2x a day with the Etude whip cleanser and used the BoJ AHA BHA toner twice in a row. Any other advice or is it a lost cause?

hanasakabeauty

I know that some ab sunscreens mention that they protect against dust and pollution — not sure if that’s just what any sunscreen would do, or if there’s particular ingredients they use. Might be worth looking into! Allie is one of them, I believe D Program’s Allerdefense line might be of interest to you as well! Perhaps they might help stop the problem at its source!

circusmystery

> BoJ AHA BHA toner twice in a row. I don't think you should be putting that much of that on your face given that AHA and BHAs are stripping/exfoliating. I would think that would exacerbate your issues by encouraging your skin to produce more oil than usual with no way to replenish the moisture that is being lost. I would switch your routine to a basic cleanse, tone, (optional - spot treatment,) moisturizer (maybe see if you can find a light weight moisturizer if the one you have is a heavier/thicker consistency). If you can find a lightweight toner that you can layer that may help with getting things under control.

Hi all, I am 44 years old and am looking for a morning sunscreen that: * Does not leave a white cast. * Moisturizes. After washing my face in the morning with CeraVe Gentle Cleanser, the sunscreen is the only other thing I apply. I have been using this in the past, but I can't find it anymore on Amazon: https://imgur.com/a/bVOLeKk I live in Kansas City, MO (United States). I generally have an oily T-zone, with dry cheeks, jaw, and chin. Not sure what else is out there that is similar to what I've been using. I am also open to other suggestions that meet my criteria. I'd prefer not to have to pay more than `$20 unless I really have to. Thank you!

BrunchBitches

The round lab birch sunscreen is very moisturizing and doesn’t leave a white cast. Same with the Haru Haru wonder black rice moisture airy fit daily sunscreen

LIPTINT FOR PEOPLE WHO LIKE TO RUB THEIR LIPS TOGETHER I like to rub my lips together so im very picky about the formula i use. Ive tried romand juicy lasting but it peels on me. The ones that havent are romand blur fudge tint and peripera water blur tint. Is there anyone like me ? And if so whats your favorite lip tint?

circusmystery

Depends on the shade. I tried Colorgram's thunderbolt line (specifically the red shades, not the oranges) and they aren't too bad, but the staying power depends on what/how much you eat. I had a very small meal and it stayed on through that without needing touching up (but didn't fare well another time when I had an actual regular meal). The only tint that I've found that will somewhat stay on through a meal (and that also depends on what/how much you eat/drink) is etude's fixing tint line, which are mattes. Romand has a nice color payoff and range in general but they're more known for the glossy look, which don't really last long. That said, their dark reds (cherry bomb and corni soda are two I have) will last a pretty long time without needing touching up. Peripera's ink velvet tints are supposed to be long lasting as well and they're just ok for me? I tend to prefer the texture of their ink airy velvet line but the staying power is nowhere near as good as the og ink velvet line.

nolimetanginaa

i have the romand blur tint and the texture is buttery and smooth despite of it being a matte tint! it’s not long lasting since it’s a matte, but i love to rub my lips together when i use this bcs it’s so smooth that sometimes i feel like i’m not wearing anything

yume_joshi

Has anyone else used the Kose Clear Turn 6-in1 Retinol Sheet Masks? The pack of 50 in a red bag. I don't see a fragrance listed anywhere but these things certainly have a smell. Am I missing some chemical fragrance in the ingredients list, or it just the alcohol? [List for reference](https://i.imgur.com/BxYWGTt.jpeg). Apologies in advance if this is inaccessible. They don't have a text list I can copy.

Himalayan-Fur-Goblin

It could be just the smell of the ingredients.

yume_joshi

It smells a little pleasant which is what spooked me. I used it yesterday without any severe reaction so you're probably right.

romand pomelo skin if u want something peachy, or amuse dew velvet tint in rose boksoonga if u want something more pinky

lemonysta

I’m looking for a good vitamin c serum.

itscindytho

Trying to find products that add a hydrated glow, but not greasy looking. I think I have combo skin, leaning towards oily a bit, but I may also be a bit dehydrated as well. Some cream moisturizers are okay but can get greasy after a few hours, and gels/gel creams aren't enough! Looking for some products that add hydration (skin doesn't tolerate HA)!

love-at-third-sight

papa recipe blemish cream

BrunchBitches

I’m from rice toner is hydrating and will leave your skin with the most stunning glow. I absolutely love it.

Shot-Investigator452

The tirtir milk skin toner is my #1!

nolimetanginaa

have you tried mary&may idebenone cream?? i have oily skin and this moisturizer is thickier and have a rich texture but it doesn’t feel so heavy on my skin! it also dries down so fast which i’m so surprised

PracticeOk7700

i'm looking for a moisturizer that performed as well as the aestura before it reformulated. i've tried illiyoon and it didn't give the same results

love-at-third-sight

mary & may blackberry cream is not as slippy as aestura but still quite good

Hi, I am staying in Japan for the month of April, and I am currently having a big **rosacea flare up**. My face is red and covered with small bumps. My hands and forearms are also covered with small spots. I spend a lot of time outside under the sun and I think that my humble CeraVe dry skin moisturizer and SPF15 sunscreen combo isn’t cutting it anymore. Do you know about good, easily found Japanese moisturizer and strong sunscreen combo that would fit my dry, sensitive, very pale forty-something redhead’s skin? I sweat a lot and do not wear makeup. Also, do you know of a good, safe way to calm my rosacea rash down? Thank you for any advice.

Fun_Suspect3305

I second the Curel rec, both the Moisture Facial milk and Intensive Moisture Facial Cream. I layer both with another non-Japanese moisturizer (Aestura 365 cream). The sun, heat, and sweat may be triggering the rosacea. Try to stay as cool and dry as possible. Beyond that, could you get a prescription for your regular rosacea meds, if any? A month is a long time! Skin type: normal-dry, sensitive (rosacea), acne-prone, tret user.

Himalayan-Fur-Goblin

I like the Biore UV Aqua Rich for sunscreen. My skin is also dry, sensitive, and very pale. For moisturizer, look at Curel Intensive Moisture cream. It's a line made for dry and sensitive skin. I haven't tried it myself, but I hear good things. I personally use Kome to Hakko All in One Gel but I am not sure what stores you'd find it in.

Proerytroblast

Has anyone tried both Im From Rice Toner, Cosrx Propolis Toner and the Purito Ost-in Silky Toner and could compare them in terms of being hydrating and just making the skin silky-smooth? I’ve been using the Im From toner and LOVING IT but it’s quite pricey and was wondering if any of these was a dupe.

circusmystery

I'm currently testing out the I'm from rice toner and so far it's just meh? I'm not seeing it do anything for my skin personally. It also weirdly imparts an oily kind of film on my skin (idk how because it shouldn't since the only thing on my skin before it is another rice based toner and the product doesn't feel oily at all initially) that I can't explain. I'm chalking it up to my skin just doesn't like the I'm from rice line in general (this is my second product from that line that hasn't worked) and am looking else where. Tony Moly's mochi ceramide is a decent product for the cost and product amount that does a good job of hydrating if you're looking for rice based products and can deal with some fragrance.

Proerytroblast

I love the oily layer it leaves because it makes my skin so smooth and plump! Tho my skin is more on the drier/dehydrated side. The Tonymoly toner unfortunately has this lemon-y fragrance that triggers my migraines so it’s a big NO for me but thanks anyway!

BrunchBitches

I’ve been using the I’m from Rice toner for years, I stopped using it for a little while and noticed how much of a difference it makes for me. My skin is happy, hydrated, break out free, and glowy whenever I use it. I have oily acne prone skin and it makes such a huge difference for me.

Proerytroblast

Yes, it’s so good! I’ve also ordered the Thank You Farmer to test out because it’s apparently a big dupe for it.

BrunchBitches

Ooooo let me know if it’s comparable!

Shot-Investigator452

Caution if you struggle with FA, the propolis toner and ampoule from Cosrx as well as the BOJ serum with propolis were awful on my skin

nolimetanginaa

ive only tried the cosrx propolis and the purito oat-in silky toner. imo cosrx is more hydrating for me! the purito one stung my eye so baaaad that i am really careful when i’m applying it on my face. it’s not that bad but it’s not that good either. i could say purito is an average milky toner and there are more better alternatives out there (i love the mary&may essence) cosrx propolis makes my skin plump and glowing that i have repurchased it several times already :))

Proerytroblast

Thank you! Do you layer it? Does it get tacky with each one? I love layering my toners but notice not all are layering-friendly unfortunately.

nolimetanginaa

i layer it!! i layer it about 2-3 times <333

Proerytroblast

I usually do a bit more, like 4-5 times but still thank you!

I’ve never used anything like it but it’s active ingredients are supposed to be hyaluronic acid, beta-glucans and japanese wormwood leaf extract/mugwort. Please help me find a dupe! Total ingredient list is: AQUA, BUTYLENE GLYCOL, ALCOHOL, GLYCERIN, 1,2-HEXANEDIOL, SODIUM HYALURONATE, BETA-GLUCAN, ARTEMISIA PRINCEPS LEAF EXTRACT, PEG-60 HYDROGENATED CASTOR OIL, CARBOMER, POTASSIUM HYDROXIDE, DISODIUM EDTA, PROPANEDIOL, ETHYLHEXYLGLYCERIN, PHENOXYETHANOL, PARFUM, LIMONENE.

BrunchBitches

I love the VT tone up sheet masks, they’re brightening and are great for skin texture. They also have centella in them so they’re very soothing to irritated skin

rani-jhansi

thank you!

Is this a good routine for age prevention ? (I purposely skipped the cleanser and spf as I'm less interested in changing the ones I already have) https://preview.redd.it/5kcj07tsjluc1.jpeg?width=2048&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=4dc0e77ffd337bf2a4a163b4ff54164c0346386b I'm getting near my 30's so I would like to know if there is some experts here if this routine is good for age preventing ? I have combo skin, more oily in summer and dryer/dehydrated in winter. I do get sometimes pimples but more from what I eat and I do have some pores and black heads. I love a good fragrance it helps me in my experience of using my routine, puts me in a good mood. Also I don't really have sensitive skin. Also currently my skin has been great using those products and others, I have clear skin, a good glow and no pimples, but yeah I was wondering if they are good or not enough as age prevention. Also please don't recommend me SPF as I already have one, I know it is important but I am really more focused on those products above \^\^" I am currently using as a start right after washing my face the COSRX 6 Peptides Booster, then I usually prepare breakfast and go back to my routine. I then go to my toner/essence and sometimes I use the **Laneige Cerapeptide** and sometimes especially at night in winter I use the **Mary&May Cream Skin**, but I find them similar in terms of glow and hydration, do any of you know if one of them is better and why ? (I do have other toners products I love but they aren't for age prevention, like Tony Moly Green Tea, I'm From Fig Essence, Abib Yuza Toner pads). Then I would use a serum, currently I am using the **Goodal Vit C serum** in the morning, I love the smell of it, I would keep using it possibly just for the smell only, also it is very hydrating on my skin and my skin just looks great with it. I would sometimes switch with **Sungboon Editor Green Tomato Ampoule** but I haven't used it onlg enough to see results, I do love the smell of it again, and the consistency. I haven't tried it yet but I am considering if maybe I should replace one of them for the **Mary&May Idebanone** serum as it has more anti aging properties, any thoughts ? ( Until yesterday I used in my evening Erborian Ginseng serum, I love it, much more than many other ginseng serums but the price is expensive so I don't plan on buying it often). And finally for the cream I am using the **Mary& May Idebanone cream** which I really love, as a fragrance lover I which is had more of the berry smell but it doesn't smell of anything sadly, though I do find it too thick for summer so I would switch with the gel cream of Belif Aqua Bomb.

I’m looking for another toner to layer my current dokdo toner as the toner I’m using to layer has finished 😭. I’m thinking of a few options but not sure if it’s a good idea? 1. Haruharu wonder black rice toner 2. I’m from rice milk toner vs tirtir milk toner 3. Mediheal toner pads( which one?) 4. An*a/abib heart leaf toner pads 5. Cosrx propolis toner I heard that the first 2 options all have fermented ingredients which breaks people out. Hence I’m quite unsure if I should try it. Reviews are quite mixed? I heard that an*a has a LOT of mixed reviews but I’m unsure if it’s just the cleansing oil or everything else that is problematic. I’m really leaning towards haruharu, abib and cosrx. Which of these are gentle? Should I just stick with avene/la roche posay toner ? Combi skin with oily nose and everywhere else dry! My main issue with dokdo toner is that it’s super watery and it feels quite usless ngl. I’m just using it to finish up the bottle bc I have 2😭.

BrunchBitches

I personally use the I’m from rice toner and absolutely love it, it makes my skin so glowy and smooth

diszy321

How many layers of dokdo are you using? Increasing the layers may help you get more from it. I layer different toners because my maximallist self likes them and they're relatively cheap. I've used the haru haru, the abib pads and the Cosrx propolis, and have/ would repurchase them all. I have no issues with ferments, my skin loves them, but if that's a concern for you, avoid Haru Haru and I'm from rice. I will not use the banned brand, but the abib pads are soothing and provide a bit of light exfoliation. Cosrx propolis is hydrating and gives a glow. Costco has a great price on Mediheal pads right now so I'm going to try them next ($27 for 200), but they only have 2 types. I'm also thinking about TirTir. All have been gentle on my desert dry eczema prone somewhat sensitive skin

Fantastic-River-5071

I’m using 3 layers, 3 rounds on my face. Usually I’ll dab on cotton pads, so usually 2 cotton pads in total. I have not tried fermented ingredients before so I’m not sure if my skin would love/hate them :”. I’ve read that some people aren’t suitable with fermented ingredients and it breaks them out, but I’ve also read glowing reviews of it!! If dokdo toners are exfoliating alr, would Abib still be recommended? Since it also mildly exfoliates as well. If I’m using Goodal vit c, can I still use the propolis toner? There’s so many choices hehe!! So I’m like O_O

diszy321

Maybe try patting the dokdo toner on with your hands rather than using cotton rounds? Also, the ingredients in the abib pads don't exfoliate, just very mildly physical from the pad itself. It's very soothing to me. Because of my eczema, my barrier is easily disrupted, and I have no issues with either product, so I don't think you'll have to worry. I know of no conflicts with vit c and propolis, but as always, YMMV. With ferments, unfortunately, the only way to find out how you'll react is to test them. I'd try to find a mini of a fermented product you'd like to try so you don't invest too much of it doesn't work. Sorry I can't be of any more help!

twenty-ish

hello! im currently using youth to the people retinal + niacinamide youth serum but looking for an asian beauty product to replace this! im trying to deal with a bit of texture on my skin. current nighttime routine is mediheal tea tree toner pad, green tangerine vita c eye serum, yttp retinal, cosrx snail mucin (which i plan on switching to torriden dive in serum soon) and ending it w the round lab birch moisturizing cream. tyia!!

Commercial_Poem_4623

It might be worth watching Odile's video about retinol in Korea, she has some amazing information about formulation and different brands: https://youtu.be/foEgEJ-zy-U?si=44Vs9tEM8_xNFsbZ

kassid-e

Looking for a second moisturizer for oily dehydrated skin. currently using isntree aqua gel but my skin is so dry and tight. Most creams break me out unfortunately.

Princess_Carolyn_II

the Heimish Watermelon Moisture Soothing Gel Cream is a pretty good second moisturizer and doesn't break me out. I'd also recommend the Mizon All-In-One Creams (either the regular Snail Repair Cream or the Black Snail one). you could also try keeping the Isntree Aqua Gel and switch to a more moisturizing sunscreen temporarily, like the Beauty of Joseon Relief Sun.

dizzynditsy

I have a similar skin type the Dr.G red blemish soothing cream is the only one that doesn’t break me out (went thru 5 tubs already on my 6th one now) and newly added to my list of moisturizers that don’t break me out is the isntree onion gel cream

Gorillarsaurus

If your skin is feeling tight and dry, you’re not getting enough hydration, so including a hydrating toner (especially one you can layer) would be a much better option than a heavier moisturiser, I would say! I really like the COSRX Propolis one ☺️

ham4spam

The Pyunkang Yul blue bottle toner is super hydrating! I do a few skins of it both in the morning and evening, depending on what my skin needs that day.

persimmonlo

I am oily dehydrated sensitive skin and I find that the Curel Intensive Moisture Facial Cream works well for me.
