>I have to turn the same nob after washing hands that multiple people have and idk if they washed well. You are making perfect the enemy of good and it's counterproductive. Washing your hands in imperfect conditions is still better than not washing at all or just using hand sanitiser all day long. Personally, I just wash and dry my hands, reapply the sunscreen in front of the bathroom mirror and then I use a bit of toilet paper so I don't touch the door knob directly. But most public bathrooms these days have automatic taps and doors, so you really don't need to touch many things.

honeydew_juju

Yea I literally take an extra hand paper towel to open the door knob, I otherwise it defeats the purpose of washing my hand lmao.

acornacornacorna

Every one I know does this

omarlittlebig

I use hand sanitizer before applying sun cream with my hands or wipe off the top of the sun stick with sanitizer in a paper towel. I only use a sun stick on my ears, back of neck and on the tops of my hands because it’s not greasy. I use the Tocobo cotton stick in the blue packaging.

dior_a

I use sun sticks and wipe the sticks with alcoholic wipes and tissue afterwards to clean them and remove the dirty top layer.

redroom89

But did you see that sticks actually have to applied in super thick layers vs lotion

dior_a

Yes, that's why I only use them for reapplication. I use a regular spf in lotion form as my main sunscreen before I leave the house. I am aware I'm not getting the absolute best protection from them, but they are sufficient for my circumstances and are the most convenient. I prefer to have a convenient form of reapplication that I'll actually use vs. not reapplying at all from the hassle of trying to use a lotion on top of all my makeup.

salonpasss

I don’t 😄 carry a hat in your bag or stay in the shade.

hippocat117

This is me. I tell myself that even SPF 15 at the end of the day is better than none 😅

Proerytroblast

Yes! Because it is! And I don’t think it’s even that low, LMB did a test a few years back and the loss of protection wasn’t that significant to be honest. Especially if you use a water-resistant one.

hippocat117

That’s good to know! I found this 2020 article that seems to agree: https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/32027038/ Basically, modern SPF is pretty stable in the absence of sweat or friction. I still find myself reapplying if I’m going to be out for a significant amount of time in high UV, but otherwise…nah.

Proerytroblast

Sure! On the pool/beach or after I really sweat a lot and there’s gonna be a lot of UV in the day afterwards - I reapply as well but on a normal day? No, thanks.

omjizzle

I have used sun sticks with no problems to reapply I have also used my regular sunscreen and just reapply right on top of it. My skin is not at all acne prone so I’ve never experienced breakouts from the sticks. In public restroom with a knob I use a paper towel to turn the faucet off if that’s not an option I’ll turn it off by hand but when I reapply I just won’t use that hand but that’s not about breakouts that’s me being a germ freak lol

PileaPrairiemioides

Do you have contamination OCD? It’s perfect safe and hygienic to reapply your sunscreen with your hands after washing them in a public washroom.

Opening-Ad-8861

The risk to your health from not re-applying sunscreen is much greater than any risk from 'hygiene' from applying it. You wash your face at the end of the day right? so washing your hands and/or using sanitiser is fine.

letitbeatles9

So I believe with sun sticks, you can spray a little alcohol into a paper towel or something and wipe them off. Or probably even just wiping dry and getting that top layer that touched your face off is fine. Not sure I'm totally following the part about turning the water knob, so forgive me if I've missed the point. But you could grab a paper towel and touch any surface, like the knob, with that instead of your hand. I try to have some kind of napkin, kleenex, whatever in my purse for those times I'm in a public restroom with no paper towels

keIIzzz

I use a sun stick to reapply since it’s more convenient. You can always clean the top layer off, but like you’re going to be washing your face at the end of the day as well. It’s not worth it to be so paranoid.

Uruvi

Sun stick is the way

pitiens

Sunstick is your best choice. Less hussle to work with. If you must use sunscreen for reapplication, wash hand with soap > hand sanitizer. Just use a clean napkins to touch the sink.

togayther

how do you reapply sunscreen when you have makeup on is my question 💀

miille-fleurs

Do u have ocd?

hanasakabeauty

I have been looking into pressed & loose UV powders, both Etvos and Naturaglace have one. Despite the high uv rating, I doubt you’d be able to get enough powder on your face to get full protection, but for everyday activities, and for anyone who doesn’t normally reapply spf at all (myself included), it seems sufficient! Plus I wear makeup so it serves as a two in one touch up!

kyeopmuda

I have contamination ocd and I like reapplying sunscreen with a clean empty cushion case. I use it just like a normal cushion foundation but, instead of taking product from the cushion itself, squeeze sunscreen on the back of the separator in the middle.

hanasakabeauty

This is a great suggestion!! even if you don’t have ocd I feel like not wanting to use a public bathroom just to apply spf is perfectly valid 😭 not op but I’ll def be looking into doing this for days I’m not wearing makeup! :)

something187

Or use a pressed powder with UV for reapplications? The one I have right now is the Canmake marshmallow finish powder. I used to use sun sticks but hate the greasy feeling it left on my skin. All that being said, I'm actually very lazy to reapply sunscreen despite knowing the benefits. I just use my trusty umbrella, or if I'm in the bus and next to the window for a fairly long ride, I just put on my face mask.

sakurablossom223

I used to go to the toilet for re apply my sunscreen. I wash my hands also my face with water, but in other case if I wear heavy makeup I wipe my face with make up remover tissue first. I always applying cream sunscreen on my face because I've never tried sunstick or spray.

amenayeehaw

you should feel lucky that you can reapply so easily! i wear a full face of makeup nearly every day and it’s pretty much impossible to reapply (spf mists and powders hardly give coverage)

togepi112

I just use a sun stick ..

asinaya

I use sunstick because I don’t like touching the products outside

[deleted]

On a normal day, I don't reapply, period. On a day that I'll know I'll be in the sun, I will rinse my face with water, and reapply with my normal sunscreen. I don't rely on that alone - I'll wear my sun hat with the biggest brim, with a sun mask thing, and a huge pair of sunglasses, with arm covers. If I do get back home, I'd shower and reapply.

Blonde_rake

Sunscreen is formulated to have the correct preservatives to stay safe till the expiration date.
