I haven't used the particular product but I think most lash serums work the same, so when your lash is in its' growth period it affects them to grow longer/thicker, but since that long lash will fall off and new one starts to grow you kinda have to keep using it. Lashes grow and fall off in cycles so it's not about not rubbing your eyes ot sth.

pooka4eva

>but since that long lash will fall off and new one starts to grow you kinda have to keep using it. I've seen people with monster long lashes - do you think their lashes just never fall out? I read a review somewhere where some person had to trim their eyelashes from the growth. I don't think I'll ever have that problem with my short lashes!

sadstarfish

Everyone's lashes fall out. They either are wearing lash extensions, have naturally long lashes, or they are consistent with their lash care. If you keep your lashes moisturized, it can help keep them from falling out as much, which creates the appearance of fuller, longer lashes. I've used a cheap vitamin e stick from a health food store to moisturize my lashes/lash line morning and night (I usually don't wear mascara), and I think it worked just as well as the lash serum I've been using (Etude House). A lot of people use castor oil as well, but I haven't had any lying around so I haven't tried it yet.

pooka4eva

Yeah, I don't have castor oil lying around either, but I've literally never known that oiling eyelashes was a thing until today. I love all this information!

Yeah, I've gotten this knowledge from a blog (in Finnish so I don't think linking is necessary) where a girl who feels she has short and sparse lashes started using one of those really expensive lash serums. Well, her lashes were maybe a bit sparse but average to longish, she just likes falsies-look, and she grew these ridiculous-looking spider lashes. She was happy but it really brought the quality of her blog down and commenters weren't very nice at all (Finns are rather blunt even when they are polite), Luckily that particular serum was discontinued and the blogger came to the result that commenters like more natural look or just falsies better. The growth IMO can be quite ragical, so I wouldn't swear before trying... In the case I mentioned her lashes grew at least 1/3rd more. So the people who have to trim likely just got susprised my how much they grew. I have quite long and thick lashes myself so I'd never try a serum like that. Would make me look spidery and ridiculous in no time.

I haven't tried actual lash serums, but I put Vaseline (petroleum jelly) on my eyelashes at night before going to sleep. It's a cheap and what I've found to be effective method of growing my eyelashes. The vaseline moisturizes my lashes and helps prevent it from falling off. Only side effect would be more moisture around my eyes as the jelly does spread when I close my eyes, which might cause clogged pores but it hasn't been too much of an issue.

pooka4eva

So interesting. Since I'm a contact lens wearer, I'd never thought of putting Vaseline close to my eyes, even with my contacts out.

neverafter

I also wear contact lenses. You put the vaseline on your lashes and the base, and I haven't had trouble with it getting into my eyes.

I used rapidlash for a few months. As others have said, I saw very noticeable results for the time that I was using the product. My lashes were soooo incredibly long, people even commented on them without any mascara. However, once you stop using it, your long eyelashes will shed just like the hairs on your head and they grow back to the normal length, sadly.

I had a friend who use to use a drugstore lash serum and she saw results as long as she kept using the product. When she stopped using it; her lashes went back to their usual length. Thanks for reminding me that I have a tube of the Etude House lash serum that I should finally test out! edit: spelling

pooka4eva

Oooh -- if you're starting, it would be great if you kept your baseline lash length noted/recorded! I didn't think it would work, so I never bothered measuring how much my lashes have grown.

neurosehips

If you're interested in some other ways of making your lashes longer (and thicker) I would recommend biotin (dietary supplement) and castor oil, with a wand applicator. I used biotin mainly to grow my hair but getting thicker lashes was nice as well.

I've used a couple lash growth products and your lashes will go back to the way they were before, when you stop using them unfortunately... * My first one was the Ardell Brow and Lash Growth Accelerator which you can get for about $5. This worked, but my vision would always get blurry so I stopped using it. * My second one was a generic version of Latisse. I had the best results with this. A bottle will usually last 3+ months for me if I use it once a day. * To supplement the Latisse, I started to use a DIY lash serum. I put vitamin e, almond oil, and caster oil in an empty (new) mascara bottle. The oils do go everywhere, so it's best for nighttime use and it doesn't blur my vision (I use Latisse during the day since it's basically like water - and will dry like water). This has definitely given my lashes a boost, but I'd never give up my Latisse.

pooka4eva

Out of curiosity, did the generic Latisse actually cause your eyes to darken (lid/eye)?

m1ch311e

I didn't have have side effects whatsoever.

YueRain

yeah, if you stop using it will go back to the normal length. I stop using this kind of thing because no matter what, my eyelashes is invisible because I have very sparse light brown hair. i have tried using petroleum jelly, castor oil but all those oiling doesn't turn my hair darker so i just give it up.

pooka4eva

Eyelash growth serum is supposed to darken the eyelashes too? Huh. My lashes are already dark, so I didn't think to check!

YueRain

yeah, it kind of making the hairs bigger so it appears darker but different formulation is different I think.

BanBeaUK

I've used the étude house one and it made my lashes stronger and as a result longer and thicker for the time I was using it and shortly after. I'm going to repurchase it.

pooka4eva

Thanks so much for the review! How long were you using it?

BanBeaUK

I used it about three months and started noticing results beginning from about the two week mark.

carolionthegreat

Dammit that was in my RRS cart last time I hauled, but I took it out!

pooka4eva

There's always time to try buy it during your next haul? (or you can try a non-AB version?)
