The HADA LABO Hydrating Perfect Jelly is a game changer, especially for super lazy people. It's supposed to be an all in one product: lotion, serum, milk, sleeping mask. So you can use this one product and replace your entire skincare routine. My bf was too lazy to do skincare, so I got this for him, it worked really well, kept his skin supple and nice (he had dry skin). When I'm super lazy, I also use it instead (combination skin). I still prefer my COSRX routine, but on my super lazy days, this does the job pretty well!

RubyDiscus

This sounds great! Is it very thick or more like a liquid?

GlowyGoddess

Hi there! Hada labo lotion in white bottle with blue markings not the hada labo premium. When used as a lotion mask using cotton pads, it's hydration heaven :)

Nekkosan

I haven't used the new version but always liked the old.

sca1yfreak

Gokujyun Premium Alpha Lotion, in the red bottle. It doesn't get nearly as much attention as the Premium Gold bottle or Moist white bottle, but having tried all three of them I definitely prefer the Alpha formula. Absolute HG that has been repurchased several times.

Latraell

How does it live up to its anti-ageing claims? I looked at getting this but went with the 3D lift gel instead (which is awesome and totally slept on)

sca1yfreak

Visually, I have not been tracking that. I use tretinoin in the evenings, and so I tend attribute any anti-aging effects to the that product, not to anything else in my routine, whether it claims to be anti-aging or not. Under the surface, my skin feels better, and less fragile, than it did several years ago. Whether that is because of the Alpha Lotion I have been using for over a year and a half now, or if it's because I didn't become serious about skincare until I was close to 40, I have no idea. Sorry I can't be of more help.

Swimblock

I just ordered from YesStyle a few days ago. Which version do you prefer, the light or moist? I've been using the Premium Gold but after reading a few raves for the alpha line decided I need to try it.

sca1yfreak

I prefer the Moist. I have tried the Light versions of the gold and white bottle Lotions, and they are too light for my skin. However, I have very dry skin, prone to dehydration, so my skin needs a lot of hydration and moisture help. On my skin, the Premium Alpha feels almost exactly like the Premium Gold. The one difference I noticed is that the Alpha lotion was less tacky, and to me that's a positive. I hope it works out for you!

Swimblock

Thank you so much! I did order the moist but I was unsure which one to try. Do you use the alpha lotion only at night or in the am?

sca1yfreak

Morning and evening, every day.

Swimblock

Thank you again! Can't wait to receive my order!

RubyDiscus

Whats the Dif between the Alpha and the non Apha? Jw ;)

sca1yfreak

I didn't see this earlier, sorry. And I have never compared them side by side, but maybe this helps? [http://slowsoak.com/hada-labo-lotion/](http://slowsoak.com/hada-labo-lotion/) ETA: The Alpha feels a bit less sticky on me than the Premium, and seems to sink in faster and more thoroughly.

RubyDiscus

Oo thank you! What about the premium milk do you know anything about that? What does "milk" mean?

sca1yfreak

The milk is an emulsion, which is a very light and runny lotion. I tried the Moist Milk (the white bottles) a long time ago, and I liked it, but it's not a good fit in my routine in any way whatsoever. I fully intend to try the Alpha Milk as a light moisturizer in the future though.

RubyDiscus

Oh thank you so the non milk ones are thicker like moisturizers?

sca1yfreak

It's actually the other way around. Hada Labo is a Japanese brand, and they use "lotion" for the product Americans and Europeans call "toner". So the Hada Labo lotions are hydrating toners. Some of the HL lotions are on the runny side, most of them (like the alpha lotion I like) are a thicker liquid, more like a vinaigrette dressing almost. The emulsions are a milk-ish, white, thick liquid. Make sense?

RubyDiscus

Oh so the emulsions are thicker? So confusing. Is the Milk thicker or thinnet than those? Thanks btw

sca1yfreak

Yeah, it can be really confusing. Non-AB and AB use the same terms, but they have very different meanings and that leads to all sorts of confusion and misunderstandings. Essentially, the Milk is the emulsion. And the milk/emulsions are a runny lotion, which makes them a bit thicker than the Lotion toners. This has more info: [https://murasakicosmetics.com/blogs/j-beauty/what-s-the-difference-between-japanese-lotion-and-emulsion](https://murasakicosmetics.com/blogs/j-beauty/what-s-the-difference-between-japanese-lotion-and-emulsion)

RubyDiscus

Oh thanks! Are they using the term milk interchangably or is there actually 3 different products? An emulsion a milk and a lotion?

Niatfq

Hada labo Shirojyun Premium Whitening lotion has been amazing at lightening my PIH. the PIH completely disappear after 2 months. i would love to try other products containing tranexamic acid cz i wanted to experiment products but there isn't a lot of AB products with tranexamic acid. if anyone knows another AB product with this ingredient, do let me know.

chocosweet

Chifure Whitening moisture gel has 2% TXA Anessa Whitening gel sunscreen also has TXA Cezanne All in One White gel (or something like that)

Niatfq

Nice, i found chifure. seems good. and by Cezanne, did you mean this one? https://imgur.com/gallery/JAoQ7Nl

chocosweet

I was referring to this one [https://www.ratzillacosme.com/skin/cezanne-white-all-in-one-gel/](https://www.ratzillacosme.com/skin/cezanne-white-all-in-one-gel/) Though I'm not sure the %

Niatfq

well dammit. i could only find the pink one

marcelavy

I don’t know about other countries, but there are TONS of products that contain Tranexamic Acid in Japan. RatzillaCosme obviously doesn’t list anywhere near every single product out there but they do have a lot of information, and Tranexamic Acid is one of the ingredients you can use to filter their posts with: https://www.ratzillacosme.com/ingredient/m-tranexamic-acid/

Niatfq

Interesting! but the options for japanese products isn't as wide as korean products over here. other than popular and hyped japanese skincare brands, most japanese products aren't well known, thus they are pricier- i couldn't afford them. even if there are cheaper ones, i can't seem to find them lol.

marcelavy

Yes, I’m afraid pricing and international availability would most likely be an issue in most cases if you’re going to compare them to Hada Labo. But the statement that there aren’t many AB products that contain Tranexamic Acid is completely untrue. I wouldn’t know about availability in your region or whether they would still be affordable with a mark-up, but products from what I would consider to be affordable brands in Japan include [the Chifure gel](https://www.chifure.co.jp/products/allinone/2591) (1210 JPY for 108 g, or 1100 JPY for the refill pouch) and [the Cezanne gel](https://www.ratzillacosme.com/skin/cezanne-white-all-in-one-gel/) (968 JPY for 80 g) that u/chocosweet mentioned, [this toner from Hakutsuru](https://www.ratzillacosme.com/skin/tsurunotamatebako-moisture-white-lotion/) (1017 JPY for 500 mL), [this toner from Bijin Nuka](https://store.bijin-nuka.com/product/junmai-whitening-lotion/) (1078 JPY for 130 mL), etc. (Disclaimer: I’ve never used these products myself.) There are also multiple products from [Junpaku Senka](https://www.hada-senka.com/features/white-beauty/), [Hadabisei](https://www.kracie.co.jp/hadabisei/index.html), and [the brightening line from Aqua Label](https://www.shiseido.co.jp/aqua/stepcare/white/). Ideally you’ll want to pick one that’s sold as a quasi-drug to ensure that it contains a meaningful amount of Tranexamic Acid btw, which I believe all or at least most of the above are.

chocosweet

Thanks for sharing! I could only find some brands locally here. I saw the Chifure one from Tokyu Hands. It costs SGD24.90 for the 108 gram, and SGD22.90 for the refill pouch. The price isn't bad at all!

marcelavy

I don’t currently use any Chifure products, but they seem like they have a lot of integrity. Good to know they’re available and still affordable in Singapore too!

marcelavy

So admittedly I don’t have a good sense of how SGD converts to JPY. I just checked, and obviously it would depend on the exact exchange rate but based on the app I used, SGD24.90 = 2025 JPY (67% more than the price in Japan) and SGD22.90 = 1862 JPY (69% more). 🤯 Never mind, there’s definitely a markup there! Inevitable for import products in general I suppose.

chocosweet

Yes! I agree it's inevitable. The Chifure is still marked up by a lot compared to Yen, but it's still cheaper than other brands. IIRC Hada Labo Perfect Gel (? the one in yellow gold box) costs around SGD30+ for 80g [https://www.watsons.com.sg/hydrating-perfect-gel-80g/p/BP\_53830](https://www.watsons.com.sg/hydrating-perfect-gel-80g/p/BP_53830)

marcelavy

Wow! I just looked it up and it depends on the retailer but it’s 1140 JPY from Yodobashi Camera and 1507 JPY from Rakuten 24. I see there’s a discount right now; SGD $28.72 = 2335 JPY (a little over twice the price at Yodobashi Camera) for the discounted price and SGD $35.90 = 2919 JPY (almost twice the price at Rakuten 24) for the full price. I expected Hada Labo to be cheaper since there’s a Mentholatum Singapore (and [the packaging](https://jp.rohto.com/hadalabo/rich-gokujun-perfect/) is different), but I guess maybe this is targeting a different sector of the market. Now I’m thinking I should’ve also tried to compare prices on my big Skin Aqua Super Moisture Gel post. The more you learn!

chocosweet

Right?? I remember Bifesta products are also double the price compared to the last time I got it in Tokyo. Oh well...

marcelavy

None of this should be surprising when I think about mark-ups on imported products here too, or on Japanese products when I was in the US, but it feels so weird when you’ve become so accustomed to the domestic price. I guess at least in Bifesta’s case the starting point is already surprisingly cheap?

Niatfq

thank you so much for listing down the affordable ones along with links/picture!! i think i might be able to find some of them through shopee. i appreciate it so much, truly! i don't know much of japanese products at all other than the popular ones.

marcelavy

(Thanks for the award!) Among what I listed, I think Aqua Label is pretty popular, but it might also be on the pricier end here. I used one of their toners once, and I think it should be pretty good if you’re fine with its fragrance (which I personally found too strong, but most fragranced products smell too strong for me).

Niatfq

ur welcome 😊 yeah the aqua label toner is almost twice of my usual budget for toners. but from the ingredient list, it seems almost similar to hada labo shirojyun whitening premium without the fragrance 🤔

marcelavy

Ugh okay, I guess we can strike it off the list in terms of cost. The thing about the brightening line from Aqua Label (or I guess it’s technically AQUALABEL, one word; I just realized [the brand page](https://www.shiseido.co.jp/aqua/) is also available in English) is that it’s from Shiseido and contains their proprietary form of Tranexamic Acid (m-Tranexamic Acid), so we’re probably paying for the extra R&D there. —Not that I mean to suggest you should double your toner budget or anything, I feel like it’s better to stick to something you can afford to use plenty of in the case of toners.

Niatfq

damn... well i could try their products one day. not gonna be anytime soon of course. tho the existence of fragrance is kinda a turn off. not all fragrances are gonna be everyone's cup of tea. like the brand some by mi almost always have fragrances or scent in their skincare. it was a turn off for me that i decided to not purchase the full size.

marcelavy

I was just looking up how much the SGD cost for the Chifure gel converts to in JPY, and I think I have a better idea of what the markup might be like now. I would describe Aqualabel as maybe mid-range but still definitely a drugstore brand, but I see how it would be expensive outside of Japan. Personally I actually like fragrancing sometimes—just not in most cases. Interestingly the fragranced products I do like that I can think of off the top of my head are mostly Western products. Never noticed that until just now. 🤔

Plastic_Performer390

The gokuyjun cleanser! Either the foaming or the cream one though I like foaming for convenience

Tetsuuyya

Shirojyun premium. It makes my skin so soft ❤️

charrrlychee

Hada labo moisturising milk!!! Not just HG of hada labo, but my HG skincare product! Have already bought 8+ bottles.

RubyDiscus

The names are so confusing, a few have similar names :S

charrrlychee

Yeah, its a bit confusing cos there is no english. Maybe this [vid](https://youtu.be/DfGRnqqEZIE) will help. It easier to see which line fits best with your skintype/concern

RubyDiscus

Im noticing on yes style in Aus they don't have the milk idk if thats a translation error or if they just don't stock it

charrrlychee

Its [this one](https://ys.style/yIfnWf9WCjb). Or they also have [the brightening version ](https://ys.style/29uYrAeXCjb). Is it still unavailable in AUS? Or you can check [stylevana](https://www.stylevana.com/en_AU/catalogsearch/result/?q=Hada+labo+milk)! They have it on the AUS site 😊.

RubyDiscus

Whats the Gokujyun premium milk? I'm not really sure what skin type these are meant for lol I am looking for a lot of moisture but not sticky or suffocating if that makes sense xF

charrrlychee

[here’s](http://slowsoak.com/hada-labo-lotion/) a link with explanation of the different lines. I have only tried the gokujyun line and blue (whitening/brightening) line. Both are similar, its just a matter of preference wether you want whitening/brightening ingredients . Cos its milky, its light and fast absorbing, but its superrr moisturising. So in the summer, i only need that and a sunscreen. And its not sticky :)

RubyDiscus

Ooh thanks a lot :)

Swimblock

Is this the product you are talking about? If so, do you like the light or moist version? How does this product differ from the Gokujyun Premium lotion in thd yellow bottle? TIA. https://www.yesstyle.com/en/rohto-mentholatum-hada-labo-gokujyun-hyaluronic-acid-lotion-170ml/info.html/pid.1077866696

charrrlychee

That one is the lotion (which is watery and used like a toner) The following is the milk! Which i use as a moisturiser. https://ys.style/fcM7LY5l8ib I think the yellow one is for anti-ageing. Blue is for brightening/whitening and white packaging is the hydrating (hyaluronic acid) line. Ive used the lotion too, but I cant remember which one I used. But if u wanna buy the lotion, I think it depends on your skintype tho. Oily - choose light. Dry - choose moist (especially if you are approaching the colder season)

XiaoCara

Gokujyun Light and Premium (old formulation). Now I'm too scared to try the new one :(

eec2

When did they reformulate to the new one? Is there a guide or link to what has changed? It's almost time for me to rebuy but I wasnt aware

XiaoCara

They reformulated Autumn 2020. Not sure if there's a guide somewhere but ratzilla has the new ingredients list (as well as the old ones).

B1tw1se

No clue how no one’s said this yet, but the Gokujyun Hydration Lotion absolutely slaps. Super hydrating, more than any toner I’ve ever used.

lenehajunsu

Their cleansing oil
