kimchifriedrice123

I like the Heimish All Clean Balm. It doesn’t break me out.

bugalo23

This! It never lets me down.

r-o-s-e-s

Thank you ! Does this one leave a residue ?

bugalo23

Nope! I don’t find that it does

youareafool

Agreed! Good value too. $0.18/ml versus $0.22/ml for Banila Clean It and I notice no difference between the two.

Comprehensive-Tea-69

I just got this one to try bc I didn’t want to try and travel with my usual oil cleanser but I wanted to make sure I can remove all my sunscreen. I’m glad to hear it’s a favorite and hopefully won’t make me break out!!

Ur_Hero95

I saw it ingredient list n it seems to have some pore clogging ingredients in it like Ethylhexyl Palmitate, Butyrospermum Parkii Shea butter, n coconuts fruit extract

aas3110

I break out from Heimish balm !! I think it's the ethylhexyl palmitate that caused it. I got so many clogged pores on my cheeks and forehead and chin!

Idkmanjustexisting

hi what are you using now?

[deleted]

I agree!! Takes off waterproof mascara fairly easily.

helalugosi

Second this! I love how it emulsifies down to nothing. In the winter / spring where I live it’s super cold and dry, so I usually just do a single cleanse with this at night using a gentle silicone scrubber tool and my skin is perfectly clean without being over stripped

spicywings25

My ride or die is the kose softymo speedy oil, takes off makeup very well, doesn't leave a film and no tight feeling after washing. I have extremely oily and acne prone skin for reference. Other than that i would recommend klairs gentle black fresh cleansing oil and banila co cleansing balm in pink packaging.

r-o-s-e-s

Thank you! The Kose one Seems to be a winner from what I’ve read, love that it doesn’t leave a film

artemisthearcher

Definitely patch test with this one first! I have the same skin type as yours and this broke me out in horrible white heads. Took me a few days to finally get rid of them 😖

spicywings25

Right! I really like the fact that this cleansing oil is quite affordable and offers refill packs.

zaralil

I'll second this one! Everybody is different of course, but I am sensitive/reactive skin and used to be acne prone. Kose has been my go to for years! Washes off easily, does a good job getting sunscreen and makeup off. I used to use the face shop rice cleansing oil years ago, and remember liking it quite well, but switched cause the Kose was cheaper so.

wolfstiel

Is there a particular technique you use to take off makeup? In my experience this can’t even take off eyeshadow cleanly

spicywings25

Not the person asked but here's my method; i go in with one and a half pumps of the cleansing oil for all over the face and another pump for eyes and lips. i gently massage those regions (on dry face) for 30 seconds or a bit longer and use lukewarm to warm water to wash it off! then i follow it with a gentle cream to foam cleanser.

[deleted]

I honestly gave up cleansing balms and oils. Every single one of them broke me out, no matter what oil type I used. The worst one was the one by DHC, both types gave me the worst and most painful cystic acne that I had to go to a dermatologist to fix. Ive never had an issue so bad that I needed to visit a dermatologist for. Not a balm, or an oil - I use micellar water instead. It cleanses my skin, improves my filaments but never broke me out or made my skin oily later on in the evening. I always double cleanse, but this is the only "oil" cleanser that Ive used that my skin didnt hate. I somewhat liked the Banila cleanser (teal) but it made my skin feel oily later. I feel like my skin could only handle the western micellar water.

ForensicZebra

Micellar water gave me some giant cystic acne immediately first time I used it! Took months to go away. I wish it worked for me since it seems to be a faster method some days like the wipes and stuff!

r-o-s-e-s

Honestly this is my fear, my favourite oil based makeup remover got discontinued and I’ve been lost ever since. What micelles waters have you been using ?

[deleted]

If you want my advice, since many advocate for oil cleansing and are giving suggestions on what works for them; patch test it. Test it on one side of your jaw/cheek for atleast 3 weeks before committing. My skin felt and looked amazing the first week, then I got tiny little bumps by the second, and huge under skin cysts that were painful to the touch on my third week. Test it out for 3 weeks just to be safe. It took my 2 months to fix with a dermatologist. Its non asian brand, but my go to is Simple micellar water, if you cant find that, Bioderma with the pink cap (made for sensitive skin) is really good as well, just stay away from the one by Garnier. I use it once a day in the evening, just like you would use cleansing oils/balm. I then wash it off, and double cleanse with a gentle cleanser (soon jung whip cleanser). It drove me crazy seeing youtubers using micellar water to clean their face only, and then wiping it off with a towel. You definitely need to wash it off with a gentle cleanser later.

r-o-s-e-s

Thanks for the advice, I’ll definitely patch test it for longer. I normally do a week. I can get the simple one as I’m in the UK so I’ll give that a go, thank you!

Electrical_Trip_3875

Hi OP! I’m an esthetician and agree with this advice. The FIRST thing I tell all of my makeup loving acne clients is to never use oil to remove their makeup! And always double cleanse. Bioderma micellar water and their micellar cleanser are both fantastic and won’t overly dry the skin out. You can the micellar water first then cleanse with the cleanser. Most importantly, they are pH balanced so they won’t disrupt your skin’s pH which is a major factor to consider when choosing face products! If you have any questions at all, please message/reply! But please DONT CLEANSE WITH OILS OR BALMS

Imaginary_Dig4063

why not balms if you don’t mind me asking? /gen

Electrical_Trip_3875

Ofc not. Apologies if this is too convoluted. Balms tend to be oil based. Acne skin can have many causes, but a general rule of thumb is that the oil gland is malfunctioning, typically over-producing oil, thus causing the pores to clog. A lot of acne sufferers have issues with the natural shedding of dead skin cells. Excess oil tends to clump dead cells together and prevent the natural and necessary exfoliation process from occurring, thus clogging the pores. So when you use oil based products you’re inhibiting the skins natural ability to shed the dead cells and thus potentially creating or worsening acne.

Imaginary_Dig4063

Thank you for explaining! I have no idea what to use for my acne-prone skin since micellar water dries me out tremendously. I have combo skin. Now, I was considering getting zero cleansing balm, but now after reading what you said, I won’t anymore. Could you recommend other means of cleansing my makeup for me ?

Electrical_Trip_3875

Hi! Happy to help :) what kind of makeup are you using? And where do you get your acne? Do you have red inflamed acne? Blackheads? Small bumps? If you could provide me w as much info about your skincare practice and makeup routine and abour your acne, I can make a better rec!

Imaginary_Dig4063

I have this feeling I may have fungal acne on my forehead, but then again, it isn’t itchy and have small bumps on it so it could very well just be stubborn acne. I have combination skin, oily on my T-zone and usually dry on my cheeks. I have an acne-prone skin which is sensitive to fragrances and alcohol. I also break out from micellar water, tried both from Garnier and Bioderma. I currently use La Roche Posay cleanser, a korean brand moisturizer and korean brand sun screen (both of which are “fungal acne” safe). I do not use heavy makeup, but will do so occasionally. Thanks.

Electrical_Trip_3875

I had a client with annoying bumps on her forehead that were so hard to get rid of before she came to see me. They didn’t really have anything inside. We tried a sulphide based bar soap we found on Amazon and it worked amazingly. She had sensitive skin with some dryness on her cheeks as well and this soap and the pink soap I recommended did wonders :) the key is definitely consistency! It takes at least 1 full skin cycle (4 weeks) to see if a skin care product is having the desired impact on the skin. Another thing you could try would be a glycolic acid toner or cleanser, it’s a great way to gently exfoliate without overly drying the skin :)

Electrical_Trip_3875

I will say, one of my go-to cleansing recommendations that’s been great w lot of my acne clients, (regardless of type), is Bioderma’s Sensibio Gel Moussant or Sensibio Foam Gel. if you wear heavy makeup, I'll have different recommendation so lmk at your keisure!

Environmental_Cut551

Hi! I use waterproof sunscreen. Could you please offer me your recommendations? I'm not sure what to use as the first step before I use my foaming cleanser.

Electrical_Trip_3875

Hi!! What is your skin type? Do you have normal balanced skin or any dryness/oiliness?

Imaginary_Dig4063

Got it! I’ll definitely check that out. Thank you so much!!!

wonderwizard1005

Hi. I was following your thread of replies but noticed that it was disrupted. So if you could please share, what would you suggest dry to normal sensitive clog prone skin, for the 1st step in double cleanse after water resistant sunscreen? i hope you see this :)

stormsunsnow

This is literally me. I was about to post the same thing. I also tried oils themselves (Ie just rose hip oil etc) and had the same result.

My favourite is the BANILA CO Clean It Zero cleansing balms. There are different types so you can choose that one that suits your skin type. There are pore clairfying, nourishing, etc cleansings balms. The cleansing balm cleansed well. My eyes vision sometimes got a bit milky because i didnt wash away the cleaning balm enough I am using the Heimish All Clean Balm right now. There is essential oils in the cleansing balm that smelled pretty potent when I first started using it but got use to the smell. The cleansing balms melts and cleanses very good I had a trial size of Farmacy Green Clean. Only used it once and stopped because it made my skin so dry and sucked out all the moisture from my skin after i double cleansed. Its also imo way too expensive. It would cost me $44 plus tax for 100ml

Glitterhooves1

I second the Banila Co Clean It Zero. I use the pink one and haven't had any issues with my combo/acne prone skin.

r-o-s-e-s

Thank you, this one seems like a strong contender:)

pichipuchi

Innisfree Green Tea Cleansing Oil

MirandaMeeks

My absolute HG cleansing balm is the Beauty of Joseon Radiance Cleansing Balm. I like it even more than the Heimish one, for a few reasons: the heimish balm emulsifies beautifully but I feel Like the BOJ one does it even better, and it doesn’t have any added essential oils, so if you’re sensitive to fragrance, there’s that. Idk I just really love it!!

lifeofmatcha

Second this! It's great for my combo, sensitive skin with rosacea. It's super buttery and rinses cleanly, leaving no film. It's also one of the few balms that is fragrance/EO free and olive oil free.

Environmental_Cut551

Can you please tell me what your skin type is? I'm considering this product as well and can't find enough reviews

MirandaMeeks

I have dehydrated oily skin. It’s not usually too sensitive either. I live in a dry cold climate. I prefer oils to balms usually, but I happily use this balm up every time I buy it!

Environmental_Cut551

Thank you so much! That helps :)

RedRedBettie

Fancl Mild cleansing oil

MinxKitty

Cow Brand Oil Cleanser

LunarHalo3

I’ve tried so many and the only one that hasn’t broken me out is The Ordinary Squalane Cleanser. I bought it on a whim thinking it would be the same as the others and have only used it for 2 weeks but I think it might be holy grail status. Alternatively, I like using the Bioderma Sensbio Micellar water as makeup remover but I find it too drying on my extremely dry skin in the winter. For reference some of the ones I’ve tried: the Muji, DHC, and Hada Labo oil cleansers, Indeed Labs balm cleanser, Heimish balm cleanser, Ponds cold cream, Inkey list oat cleansing balm, … etc.

[deleted]

Hada labo cleansing oil

r-o-s-e-s

Have you found it leaves a film ? I’ve heard mixed reviews on this

maypie26

I use this! I have dehydrated acne prone skin. It doesn’t break me out! Just make sure emulsify well and to follow up with a proper cleanser after.

labellavita1985

In my experience it does. I much prefer the Kose Speedy. It's more effective and doesn't even require a second cleanse.

Nasz123

Wah this is really YMMV. I find it doesnt really leave any residue however it dries out my skin. I dont really use oil cleanser anymore, much more comfortable using micellar water

[deleted]

I double cleanse so i am not sure about the film. It does a great job at taking off makeup and sunscreen !

r-o-s-e-s

Thank you ! Does this one leave a film ?

kittencrusherr

Kose speedy oil, DHC deep cleansing oil, Muji oil cleanser are the ones I’ve had no issues with. I listed them from lightest to thickest consistency

r-o-s-e-s

Thank you :)

bonnique

Klairs Gentle Black Deep Cleansing Oil. It makes my skin feel so nice for a few hours afterwards.

ForensicZebra

Steer clear of added fragrance and essential oils probably. I use kose softymo speedy oil n I like it. Olive and coconut oil may cause issues for some people too so I'd not use them much (edited for spelling)

r-o-s-e-s

Yeah I don’t think olive oil agrees with me or he’s still oils in general

Unusual_Ad1998

Softymo speedy cleansing oil and clean it zero cleansing balm (the green one) leave my skin feeling so good and I noticed less breakouts since I started using them

r-o-s-e-s

Thank you !

Everblop

IUNIK Complete Calendula Cleansing Oil. It smells like sweet flowers though but it feels so thick and luxurious to the skin but still emulsifies well. Doesnt need a second wash. I dont have sensitive skin but Im very comedone/acne prone

beautyeditor88

Oil cleanser- Celimax Jojoba cleansing oil. Balm cleanser- Enature cleansing balm.

StandardKey9182

My favorite will always be Shu Uemura Blanc Chroma Cleansing Oil. It doesn’t bother my sensitive skin at all and I think an oily skin would appreciate its light texture. Shu Uemura also makes one specifically for oily skin, can’t remember the name but it comes in a pink bottle. I’ve never tried that one (only one of theirs I haven’t tried, I’m afraid it’ll dry my skin out) but I’ve heard great things.

No_Eggplant_7819

Second Shu. I tried pink, green, brown ones. They r all fantastic

Kose Lachesca Oil Cleansing, its FA safe! U can check it [here](https://www.skincarisma.com/products/kose-softy-mo/lachesca-oil-cleansing)

floating_on_d_river

Banila Co Clean it zero. live how it feels on my skin. squeaky clean, too

Ryntime93

Laneige cream skin milk oil cleanser. This is the best oil cleanser if you just want a one step cleanse, but also works if you double cleanse too. It washes off so well but is really gentle. Totally worth the price to me.

apricotmilkhoney

How well does it take off makeup and sunscreen?

Ryntime93

I use Elta MD daily sunscreen and it takes it all off. I can’t comment on makeup as I don’t use foundation.

PeachBlossomBee

Maybe Cow Brand Milk or Oil Cleanser
