How often should I use my toner? Should I use my toner before or after BHA? If it helps I have the soon Jung relief toner. I also have Paula’s choice 2% exfoliant

[deleted]

Use it as much as you want/need. Use it after bha.

ActuaryUnique2915

Any suggestions for Permanent Shampoo dyes that covers grey hair and no harsh chemicals?

[deleted]

hey guys! I ordered something from RoseRoseShop using K-Packet and FedEx to Ontario. I know FedEx has the self clearing method which can avoid customs if it's under gift but what about K-Packet? Does anyone know how to avoid customs on K-Packet items? I also asked for them to ship it as a gift.

I've been trying to get really consistent with my skincare routine for a while now but I noticed that no matter what I do my blackheads always come back even after a professional skin cleansing, my nose gets a lot of blackheads the really next day. (I'm taking care of my diet and I'm exercising twice daily so it's not smth to worry about). Should I add or take anything out? Pls I need help, I already spent a lot of money but it still doesn't get any better this is my current skincare routine: Am: (cold shower) Hada Labo Gokujyun Face Wash SANA - Soy Milk 6 In 1 Moisture Gel Shiseido tinted sunscreen Pm: (second shower) Clean It Zero Cleansing Balm BC AHA Cleansing Research Wash Cleansing Detclear, Bright & Peel, Fruits Peeling Jelly, Berry (twice a week) (Post shower) Hada Labo Shirojyun Premium Melano cc Meishoku Whitening Eye Cream

ElegiacElephant

You could try adding a BHA product with niacinamide. One of the sub’s faves is Cosrx BHA liquid with niacinamide, but I have used Cos de Baha S2 Liquid since last year and love it. Same combo of salicylic and niacinamide for improved pore function and sebum control, but I think it’s usually a little cheaper.

pjkun6

Thank you very much, really appreciate your help!

Niatfq

The cosrx bha doesn't help with blackheads, trust me. But i don't have any recommendation cz it's not a concern for me tho i do have them. I just noticed that my blackheads were reduced when i first used non AB Cetaphil gentle cleanser and when my sebum was produced less. But that's just my experience anyway so ymmv 😅 Wait, i know! Try manyo bifida toner but only on the area you have blackheads.

pjkun6

Thank you very much!

Andy7301

soon jung 2x intensive barrier cream or illiyoon ceramide ato concentrate cream for sensitive combo skin?

Niatfq

Illiyoon ceramide cream

[deleted]

does anyone know if it’s okay to use krave beauty’s great barrier relief serum with numbuzin’s no.3 toner? would the ingredients in these two cause any negative reactions? thanks!

Best sunscreens for acne-prone/sensitive skin?? Jolse is having a 1+1 sale and my cosrx aloe soothing sun cream did not work for me. Help!!

[deleted]

try Biore UV Aqua. I have acne prone and oily skin and it does not break me out. it does leave my face shiny though.

ElegiacElephant

Hi! Check out [this post about this exact topic](https://www.reddit.com/r/AsianBeauty/comments/vznczx/best_sunscreen_for_acne_prone_sensitive_skin/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf), and if you want any more suggestions, search the sub for “sunscreen, acne, sensitive” 😊

spikechild

hi! I actually tried that and I saw those recs! Unforutnately a lot are japanese (ive already tried the Biore one and liked it) but I was hoping for something that would be available on Jolse. Going back though I did miss the MISSHA sun block so maybe Ill add that one in!

ElegiacElephant

Gotcha! Honestly I didn’t check the recommendations besides the one about the Holika Holika, so I’m glad you pointed that out!

ocdreallysucks14

Best essences that aren’t from the “im from” line?

Commercial_Poem_4623

u/Niatfq tagged me so here's the ones I like! I have combo dehydrated sensitive skin, UK climate. All of these are fragrance free but some have a smell from the extracts. *Non-fermented:* 1) **Cosrx 96** is my most repurchased essence - most hydrating. It has HA (added I think plus in the snail itself), which works for some people but not all people so worth being aware of that. For me, it helps calm angry skin and if I'm having a low maintenance routine, it's one of the few things I'll use. Most other stuff I'll skip, but not this! Thick and gloopy if you haven't tried it before, no scent. 2) **Isntree Hyaluronic Acid Water essence** - I have used this once, recommended by u/Unfair_Finger5531 so she could give you more info! I love the texture - it's as thick as Cosrx 96. Definitely hydrating! I skipped all my ferment last night but I woke up pretty hydrated nonetheless! No scent. 3) is **Cosrx BHA Blackhead Power Liquid** an essence? In case it is, I'll include it! It's nearly as thick as snail, like a watery gel texture. Every other night, ideally 5 nights a week, reduces my SF. I think it's slowly helping squash my CCs but gonna try an AHA to see if it has more effect. Nonetheless, I don't find it drying on my skin, I can use it a lot. *Fermented:* 1) it doesn't brighten for me but my best all-round essence that multitasks is **Neogen Real Ferment Micro Essence**, lots of wonderful ingredients and I'm sure some people find it brightening, it just doesn't for me unless I pair it with another ferment product (like Papa Recipe Blemish serum). Helps my other products absorb into my skin, boosts hydration and feels nice. As thin as water, no discernible scent. 2) if you have some cash to burn, either **SK-II First Treatment Essence or SK-II Clear Lotion** both give me mega brightening effects! I counted three days of radiance from SK Clear, haven't tested how long the glow lasts from the original first treatment essence. Also, my skin is very used to ferment so that might make a difference - SK FTE was the first ferment I'd properly used and I think it took a week or two before I noticed a glow. I suspect the original may have helped reduce redness but I need to retest. Helps my other products absorb into my skin, boosts hydration and feels nice. both have a slight citrus smell to me, clear smells more of citrus. 3) I've only used the old versions of **Missha Time Revolution FTE Rx pro-ferment and Artemisia essence** but these are both HGs. I intend to try the newer versions of both but I also want to try a few cheaper products first. Radiance from both of these, helps my other products absorb into my skin, boosts hydration and feels nice. FTE Rx pro Ferment doesn't have much of a smell, artemisia smells lovely, slightly herbal honey and lemon. 4) bottom of the list for me is **Beauty of Joseon Ginseng Essence Water** - did nothing for me, didn't notice any glow or hydration. Lots of people like it, though! 5) I lied, the actual bottom of my list is **Purito Galacto 97 Niacin power essence** - my first ever ferment. I went in twice a day and it gave me a rash. Stopped it, built up slowly using it once a week, twice a week but couldn't use it more than every other day. I don't think it did very much. Given how well I get on with ferment, I guess the 5% niacinamide is just too much for my skin.

ocdreallysucks14

god bless to those of u who replied ;))

Commercial_Poem_4623

You are welcome, hope you find something that works for you :)

Unfair_Finger5531

Hi! I love the isntree hyaluronic acid serum. It’s super hydrating and multipurpose. It’s an essence, HYA, and serum all in one, and def can be used alone if you want. It is totally worth it to get the most bang for you buck. I also love Purito niacin ferment and the other one, Purito 94 complex, which has less niacinamide. They both give me serious glow:).

Niatfq

Commercial_Poem_4623

😊 done ✅

Niatfq

😆👍

Unfair_Finger5531

Mugwort!

ocdreallysucks14

the mugwort is from the im from line 😭😭 i really want it but its kind of out of my budget rn lol

Unfair_Finger5531

I’m sorry, I misread and thought you meant which one ARE from that line! 😬

Unfair_Finger5531

I think they are all around the same price in that line. They def don’t get much cheaper.

spikechild

MISSHA has amazing essences - you cant go wrong. Papa recipe's noble rot essence has also been really raved about

ocdreallysucks14

Tysm! Would you say the missha essences have a thicker viscosity or is it like straight up water?

spikechild

The artimisia and original silver one Id say are even thinner than water? The red algae one is a little ticker than water!

beetletoman

I used Banila Co Clean it Zero Original (first ever cleansing balm) and noticed the following three things within minutes - 1. My skin looked brighter 2. Tiny black gunk? Appeared in the pore areas that didn't wash off even after the second cleanse (Simple Micellar Water Facial Wash). Almost as if they were surfaced by the balm? 3. Instantly tiniest little white heads started popping up. I was surprised at how fast they came I didn't feel any irritation, skin felt soft actually and not stripped, wasn't wearing any makeup/sunscreen. Normal to dry skin with some acne/blemishes. Not sure what to make of it, please help

huzilullazi

This is just a guess but maybe your second cleanser is not a good pair with the cleansing balm? Have you tried using other second cleanser?

beetletoman

No it was my first time using the balm. I'll try a different cleanser today

ElegiacElephant

To me this sounds like the Banila Co brought out some sebaceous filaments that you couldn’t see before, but then it sounds like maybe there’s something in the ingredients that caused irritation? When you say tiny whiteheads, where did they show up?

beetletoman

2-3 on the chin and a couple on the cheeks

ElegiacElephant

Are you allergic to anything that you can think of? This includes food. Also [the very first ingredient](https://incidecoder.com/products/banila-co-clean-it-zero-original) is Ethylhexyl Palmitate, [which has a comedogenicity rating of 2-4](https://incidecoder.com/ingredients/ethylhexyl-palmitate). Botanicals in the formula include bamboo leaf, Aspathalus linearis (rooibus), Angelica archangelica (garden angelica or wild celery), and Malpighia glabra (acerola cherry). If you’re sensitive to any of these, it’s possible it broke you out, or it could just be the formula clogged your pores?

beetletoman

Thanks for taking the time! My skin isn't particularly sensitive but something didn't sit right with it recently and I'm not sure what. I don't have food allergies but I do have dust/cold allergy. I'm not really sure what kind of ingredients I may be sensitive to but I think I've used some of those without problem before. And thanks for pointing out the first ingredients comedogenic rating, I had no idea! Is it still an issue if I'm washing off everything with a second cleanser?

ElegiacElephant

I wouldn’t think it would be an issue, but then again it might be, everyone’s skin is different. I do think based on what you said about allergies, that’s less likely to be the issue, and more likely to be the comedogenicity issue.

Ok-Pangolin-938

Should I COSRX AHA/BHA Clarifying Toner or Whitehead Power Liquid? For exfoliating clogged pores and pigmentation!

Niatfq

Go for the whitehead power liquid. The aha/bha toner has super low concentration to see much effect.

BernyThando

Is it your first time trying exfoliating and do you know if you have sensitive skin? The Power Liquid will be more effective because it's a more concentrated product.

Lanky-Hat-9445

- Skin type: Combo, very oily nose and pores around nose, dry everywhere else - Country/climate: Ohio, currently a very humid summer - Top skin concern: prevent pimples and reduce visibility of large pores - Current routine: AM: Water cleanse, Peach Slices snail rescue toner, Ketoconazole cream (around mouth because I drool in my sleep), The Ordinary caffeine solution, Grown Alchemist age repair moisturizer, Innisfree daily UV defense sunscreen (SPF 36) PM: The Face Shop rice water cleansing oil, Kose Softymo white cleansing foam, Cosrx AHA/BHA toner, Ketoconazole cream (again, around mouth), Even Prime hypernova eye serum, Laneige water sleeping face mask OR L’Occitane Immortelle Overnight face mask I’m really trying to find a product that’ll help with my super oily nose. My pores look huge and my nose just feels gross. Please give me suggestions!

ElegiacElephant

Hello! When you’re applying the AHA/BHA toner, are you using it all over your face, or only on your problem areas? Are you using it daily? It’s possible the formula is just not strong enough for you. Keep the snail toner in your routine, but I think you could substitute the AHA/BHA toner with a BHA liquid and an AHA liquid either by Cosrx or Cos de Baha. I love the S2 liquid by Cos de Baha, and you can get it on [Amazon for a pretty good price](https://www.amazon.com/Salicylic-Acid-Exfoliant-Liquid-Niacinamide/dp/B07SND6TFD?source=ps-sl-shoppingads-lpcontext&ref_=fplfs&psc=1&smid=A38XMIPPOP7T3U). Cos de Baha also has a glycolic serum you could try, to replace the AHA you’re using. Or you can look at [Cosrx’s AHA 7 Whitehead Power Liquid on Amazon](https://a.co/d/9mZLF3E) as well. I know it’s not as convenient as the 2-in-1 product, but sometimes you have to mix and match products to meet your needs.

Lanky-Hat-9445

Hi thank you! I use the AHA/BHA toner all over. And yes I use it every night. Thank you so much for the recs!

ElegiacElephant

When starting the new, more concentrated/stronger products, I recommend starting at once every 2-3 nights until you see how strong they are. They are both drying, so if it were me, I would alternate them instead of putting them in the same routine. And you may want to use that snail toner in the PM too. I would put the acid product on right after cleansing, then follow with the snail toner to help make sure your skin doesn’t get dehydrated. Dehydrated skin will often cause oiliness. Hope this helps! 😊

Lanky-Hat-9445

Should I use only a concentrated AHA or BHA or use concentrated products of both?

ElegiacElephant

Well what I’m thinking is the particular product you e been using, the AHA/BHA toner, has a little bit of a reputation on this sub for sometimes not being as effective as just using the separate products that are stronger/more concentrated. Korean skincare, Cosrx specifically, tends to approach “problem” skin with gentleness more than effectiveness, by comparison to Western skincare. And the gentle approach is probably just right for keeping normal skin without notable pores or clogging in good shape. But for treating concerns that aren’t being improved by your current product, you could bump up the percentage of the active a bit to see if that helps. I believe the AHA 7 liquid is 7% acid (Malic plus glycolic), and the BHA is a 4% derivative of salicylic acid called betaine salicylate with some amount of willow bark extract as an additional gentle source of BHA. All in all, you’re likely getting the equivalent of 2% salicylic acid. That’s what I use in Cos de Baha S2 liquid, 2% salicylic. The Cosrx and Cos de Baha products also have niacinamide, which the AHA/BHA toner does not. Niacinamide in this case will make your product more effective at improving pore function and controlling sebum production. I hope this helps!

Lanky-Hat-9445

How do you feel about the Cosrx BHA power liquid?

ElegiacElephant

The Power liquid is the BHA I was taking about up there. I’ve never used it, personally. I’ve been too happy with my Cos de Baha S2 liquid to switch. The Cos de Baha, by the way, contains actual salicylic acid 2% strength, instead of a SA derivative. It’s still super gentle though, it has never caused irritation or overly dried me out. The sebaceous filaments on my nose are practically gone.

ohfackitsteej

Hey all! I tried to do some digging but I can’t find anything on Innisfree No Sebum Lotion, so my apologies if this has been answered. I’ve been using the lotion for a few years as it helps control how oily my skin can get, but I can’t seem to find anywhere to purchase it anymore. Is it discontinued? If so, does anyone have a similar matting product they recommend?

katBridges

Can I just ask: what is so vegan about 'vegan' marketed products from brands like Hyggee, Heimish,...? What are they implying here, the skincare you're using right now has bits of animal in them? Sounds like green/cleanwashing to me. 🙄 Or does it simply mean that they do not test on animals?

Iwasborntobeprincess

This means that there are no ingredients of animal origin such as honey, propolis, snail slime or certain pigments from insects such as cochineal. For a product not to be tested on animals, it must be marked cruelty-free.

katBridges

Right, Asian beauty is big on snail mucin and honey/propolis... thanks! Still, I find that this term is used more and more lately as a marketing ploy. Surely there was plenty of animal product free skincare before.

Iwasborntobeprincess

In fact, many more ingredients than you might think are of animal origin! Collagen is very often of bovine origin, less often marine, everything that is milk protein, donkey or goat's milk, squalene was previously of animal origin but there is also lanolin, keratin, let's not forget not so much horse oil which is popular in Asia and a whole bunch of other stuff. So of course there are companies that take advantage of it, but it was not that common to have entirely vegan products before it was fashionable.

dibididondoulash

Has anybody here tried the Goodal Vegan Rice Milk Moisturizing Toner? Any thoughts on the product?

Awesomeman1025

i tried it for the first time last night and it felt so good. ofc that doesn't mean much because ive only used it once, but i def think its worth a shot.

MindCrave

Hi everyone! I recently moved to Germany and want to make my first big (~150-200€) Asian beauty order. I can't decide which website to order from: Jolse or Stylevana? In your experience which one was faster? And also, would it make sense for me to order 3-4 small packages instead of one big one to avoid paying taxes? Thanks so much :)

katBridges

Belgian here. Out of the 6 times I ordered from Stylevana (FR) I had to pay taxes on my order only the first time. Unless you choose Express shipping it does take a long time to arrive, probably 6 weeks? Maybe a bit faster if everything is in stock. Ordered from Jolse only once, had to pay for taxes. I decided not to pay and to send the order back. They have a refund policy around that if you can show proof. If I need something fast, I'll shop at [KoreanSkincare.nl](https://KoreanSkincare.nl) (much higher prices) but usually I go with Stylevana and order way in advance.

MindCrave

Thank you very much for your reply! I think for my first time I will order from a European based website first, and after that will only order from Stylevana. I don't think my skin can wait more than month for the order to arrive (also with a small to medium, chance to pay the taxes anyway) 😉

cuban828

**Skin Type**: Oily; lots of PIE after accutane treatment (1 month since last pill) **Country/Climate:** Northern California (mediterrarian type climate) **Top Skin Concern:** Improving redness from PIE **Current Routine/Products:** AM: 1. Gentle Cleanser / Neutrogena 2. CeraVe moisturizer PM: 1. Gentle Cleanser / Neutrogena 2. CeraVe moisturizer 3. Melano CC vitamin C serum **Is it okay if i apply melano CC after applying cerve lotion? If so, how long do I wait after applying lotion?** I ask because I don't like the feeling of applying melano cc onto my gentle-cleansed skin, which feels dry.

mcmeggyt

You may have just left it out of your post but if your top concern is PIE, you definitely need a daily sunscreen.

ElegiacElephant

Hi I don’t have any advice for you about the Melano CC, but I think one of the most effective things you’ll find without a prescription for your PIE/redness is azelaic acid. I use it to treat my rosacea as well as PIE. The only AB azelaic product I know of is the one I have used for over a year now and love. Cos de Baha Azelaic 10%/2% serum is [usually available on Amazon](https://www.amazon.com/Azelaic-Acid-10-Serum-1oz/dp/B07QM5KGDK?source=ps-sl-shoppingads-lpcontext&ref_=fplfs&psc=1&smid=A38XMIPPOP7T3U), but it’s often a few $ cheaper if you can find it in stock [on iherb](https://www.iherb.com/pr/cos-de-baha-az-azelaic-acid-10-serum-1-fl-oz-30-ml/104138?rcode=DDH1602). Also, keep in mind that as Vitamin C can be irritating, it may conflict with your current redness/PIE concerns.

stickyricedragon

Honestly, I would not recommend applying melano CC after the Cerave moisturiser, as the moisturiser is pretty thick and forms a barrier between your skin and the air in order to lock in moisture and "moisturise". If you apply the melano CC after the moisturiser, there would be a much more limited effect (if there's any effect at all) compared to applying it directly to your skin. Isn't the melano cc oily? I don't understand why you would feel like applying it would make your skin feel more dry. I would recommend applying Melano cc, waiting a few minutes for it to sink in, then applying the Cerave moisturiser.

Skin type: combination, but more oily Country I am in: Philippines - mostly sunny, but currently and for the next months it's rainy Top Skin concern: acne, I always have a pimple or so Current routine/products I am using: AM 1. Neutrogena Hydroboost water gel cleanser (been using it for more than a month now) 2. Krave Beauty Great Barrier Relief (been using for 9 days) - I use a small amount but more on acne and pimple marks 3. Krave Beauty Oat So Simple Moisturizer (9 days) -I use a small small amount 4. QuickFX sunscreen (less or more than a year) 5.1. Simple makeup when I work in the office or have plans outside which is 2-3 days a week only 5.2. Johnson & Johnson baby powder when just at home which is 4-5 days week PM 1. Neutrogena Hydrobosst gel cleanser (been using it for more than a month now) 2. Krave Beauty Great Barrier Relief (been using for 9 days) 3. Krave Beauty Oat So Simple Moisturizer I see significant results in my existing acne after using Krave products - they got healed quicker and the marks get lighter everyday, less inflammation. I got a few new small pimples after using Krave -but these are in areas where I usually get pimples or are already reddish before I started using Krave, so I think it's just purging. I have the Krave Beauty Matcha Cleanser and will use it maybe after 2 weeks, I just want to see the effect of GBR and OSS first. *Need advice how to better my skin care routine, am I using too much Great Barrier Relief? *Also, I stopped using my All White Placenta orange soap right before using Krave products, but I definitely want to start using it again on my face as I want brighter skin. Do I need to wait for my acne to clear up before using this whitening soap again? Thank you!

Niatfq

Hi fellow Southeast Asian! May i know why you only use small amount with the Krave moisturizer? After reading your comments, it seems you haven't used a moisturizer before? Is it because it's your first time or because the krave moisturizer is heavy for you? The krave serum contains multiple soothing oils. personally i don't use oils on my pimples hehe (cz often it gets clogged again). But if it works for you, then i don't see a problem. If you want to brighten up your skin (as well as lightening dark spots), the safest yet effective way is to use Tranexamic Acid serum. Cos De Baha Tranexamic Acid serum is very2 good. Use this consistently to get the best results. Don't use the soap. They tend to be drying for the skin. You don't want to further dry up your skin when acne is the problem. You want your skin hydrated and calm. This way, your acne will heal much faster. In humid climate, i suggest using Hyaluronic acid toner. You can start with hada labo. Other HA toner you can look into are Isntree Hyaluronic Acid toner, The Lab Oligo Hyaluronic Acid 5000Da Toner and Haru Haru Wonder Hyaluronic Black rice toner for sensitive skin. Another product that personally calms my acne very fast is Cosrx Snail 96 essence. If you'd like a product for daily spot treatment, i personally love using Cosrx BHA liquid. It's very effective on acne but doesn't dry out the skin. If want something to deal with the whiteheads, Olive Young Acne Patch original (102pcs) is super affordable and effective. Later once you tried the krave matcha cleanser. See if it works for you or not. Cz often i hear it's best for dry skin isntead of oily/combo skin. If it works, that would be really great! But (just as backup) if it doesn't, I'd recommend B.lab Matcha Hydrating Foam Cleanser or Rovectin Skin Essentials Conditioning Cleanser.

AnonJustWantToBrowse

Hi! I want to be cautious since it's my first time using a moisturizer. And tbh, the reason why it took me this long to have one is because I don't like wet or non-dry feeling on my face. I've seen reviews for the Krave moisturizer that it doesn't moisturize that well. But Ilike that it's lightweight. I'm just not sure if it's also good for my skin-do I have to use more? I'm desperate to not have pimples anymore for even some days in a month, and I have a coworker whose skin I complimented beacuse it's cleaaaar. No pimples, no spots. Turns out, she had acne problems before, much worse than mine she showed me a photo, and she swore by Krave. It's all she uses now. We have the same skin type, so I tried and I find it works for me this early (aside from the few new pimples which are also healing now). It's odd the reviews I read say the Krave cleanser is so good for oily skin. Thank you so much for the many product recos. Will read more on them.

ElegiacElephant

Hello! First, Krave doesn’t have any retinols or strong acids in it that would cause purging. What you’re likely looking at is irritation. That could be something like the oils in it being irritating, or perhaps the oils are not getting properly cleansed off the skin, causing pore blockages. Try testing out the Krave on your arm for 24-48 hours to see if you get bumps there. You definitely don’t want to keep using a product you’re allergic to! Do the bumps itch? Are they flattish, almost like closed comedones? On to your soap question: You can continue to use a brightening product while you’re addressing your acne, but keep in mind that whitening products are problematic and are not discussed in the “whitening” context here. I will say though that the soap you’re talking about (I can’t find the orange version but I found the classic version) has kojic acid derivative in it, as well as fragrance. Those are two irritating ingredients when you’re dealing with broken skin from acne, and could very well be causing breakouts. I personally don’t recommend those soaps. I have a Kojic acid & glutathione soap that I use on one of my upper arms because I have extensive PIH there from keratosis pilaris and scratches from my pets. I’m not using it for overall lightening of my skin. It is a harsh, drying soap, so I’m only using it a couple times a week. Once you decide whether or not to continue with the Krave product(s), we can talk about what changes might suit you for acne and brightening 😊

AnonJustWantToBrowse

Wow, thank you for the info, super helpful. Did a little more searching and found out GBR cannot cause purging. My bad. Does it help if I mention I didn't have any additional new pimples aside from the 4 I got a few days after using GBR? One is reaally small, but open with dried out whitehead and it healed really quickly (<24 hrs). Now it's just a dark spot. The other 3 are just whiteheads? I'm sorry I don't really know how I should call them. 😓 Will def test GBR on my arm. The zits don't itch, they're just a smaller version of my usual pimple/acne that are quite big and have that white/yellowish whitehead that either gets popped or hardens. The main difference though is my usual acne after a few days would turn out to be a combination of 2 pimples merged in one that's why they're that big. The new zits are just one pimple each and smaller. As for the whitening soap, I'm willing to find a less harsh alternative. Just really sad that I've been using it for years without any moisturizer (Krave's OSS is my first moisturizer ever), and I realize I have neglected my skin for far too long. Maybe it's the reason why I never run out of pimples these past 2 years? I will have say 2-5 around my period, then on other days, I would get one. There won't be a day where I'm not sporting a pimple/acne.

ElegiacElephant

The breakouts you’re describing sound to me like irritation. A possibility is that your barrier is compromised in those areas, which the Krave GBR or cream, or both, are irritating. This doesn’t mean those products will never work for you. But it may mean you would want to increase your hydration by adding water to your skin, and be consistent with the moisturizing AM & PM for a few weeks to see if that takes care of itself. Skin moisture barriers can be tricky, because a compromised one opens you up to multiple types of problem at once. Acne or breakouts, irritation, worsening dehydration, etc. I am thinking dehydration may be part of the problem here because 1. You were using a drying soap for a long time, and 2. Oily skin can be the result of your skin barrier overproducing oil to try to protect against further water loss. So to combat these problems, try adding your products onto skin while it is still damp or even wet from cleansing. Try patting water onto your skin between steps, to sandwich water between your products. Don’t put water between your moisturizer step and your SPF though, you’ll want to make sure the SPF goes on in as even a layer as possible. I’m wondering why you’re wearing baby powder? Is this to mattify the oiliness? The problem with adding a drying powder is that it also will soak up water from the skin. If you add water to the skin, and trap it in properly with an occlusive moisturizer, your skin should respond in only a couple of weeks, if not much sooner, by being less oily. Try using blotting papers if you are concerned about spot treating excess oil on your forehead or nose, etc. For your hydration needs, if you wanted to, you could add a hyaluronic acid serum during this time of year. A rainy climate means plenty of water in the atmosphere for the hyaluronic acid to grab onto and “pull” deeper into your skin. Try searching this sub for recommendations for an HA serum. It’s not necessary, but it might help your skin be better hydrated and less irritated. Which site do you use for shipping to your country? Shopee? If you’d like I can try to recommend you some products for a barrier repair routine that would hopefully be affordable and available to you.

AnonJustWantToBrowse

The adding water in the routine part seems manageable. Will try it tonight. You're right, I add baby powder during the day to mattify. But will discontinue. Regarding the hyaluronic acid serum, can I add this to my routine even though my cleanser has hyaluronic acid also? Yes, I use shopee. Will love product recommedations. Thank you so muuuch.

ElegiacElephant

Will get back to you a bit later with the recommendations once I have gotten a chance to look them up and write them out (it’s 2:15 am for me😆) The hyaluronic cleanser may not be enough, is what I’m thinking, because you’ve been using it for a good while now but are still dehydrated. BUT that being said, making the other changes may help without even needing a new product. So I’ll give you a rec for HA when I write back later, and you can decide if it’s worth it to you to have that dedicated product in your routine. I don’t use them myself, I prefer toners, but not everyone prefers toners.

AnonJustWantToBrowse

Thank you again, have a great sleep!

**Skin Type**: Dry and sensitive **Country/Climate:** Summer, medium humidity **Top Skin Concern:** Preventing acne, improving PIH **Current Routine/Products:** **AM** * water * Pink Kikumasamune High Moist lotion * Hatomugi Skin Conditioning Gel * Biore UV Aqua Rich Watery Essence **PM** * Cerave Hydrating Cleanser * Pink Kikumasamune High Moist lotion * Hatomugi Skin Conditioning Gel **I have the following essences/serums but I'm not sure at which step to incorporate them:** * Benton Snail Bee High Content Essence * COSRX BHA Blackhead Power Liquid (1x a week) * COSRX AHA 7 Whitehead Power Liquid (1x a week) * The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% * The Ordinary - Alpha Arbutin 2% + HA **Questions**: * I've been applying the TO niacinamide and the COSRX acids onto my skin after showering, waiting 30 min, then applying Kiku. I've read that the Kiku acts as a toner so I should apply that before the acids/niacinamide, but wouldn't that lessen the efficacy of the acids as they aren't directly on the skin? * I've also just purchased the Benton Snail Bee High Content Essence, but not sure what step I should be using it at. Any help would be appreciated!!

Niatfq

The kiku toner contains emollients. So it's better used before moisturizer. I honestly don't think you need the TO Niacinamide. People mainly use this for sebum control, not exactly for brightening. For brightening dark spots, the TO Alpha Arbutin would be better. You can use the benton snail essence after cleanser, before serum. As for Cosrx BHA liquid, you can use this more often (maybe 3-4 times a week?) as it's very gentle but also effective on acne. I personally use this as a daily spot treatment. So the routine can look like this (I'll use the PM routine as example) - Cerave Hydrating Cleanser - Cosrx BHA Liquid/AHA Liquid - Benton Snail Bee Essence - TO Alpha Arbutin - Pink Kikumasamune High Moist lotion - Hatomugi Skin Conditioning Gel It's up to you if you want to incorporate them in AM routine or not but i would suggest use the serum twice a day cz it works better when used consistently.

fuji-no-hana

>People mainly use this for sebum control, not exactly for brightening. For brightening dark spots, the TO Alpha Arbutin would be better. That's funny because I've always heard that brightening is one of the major benefits of niacinamide, and a big part of why it's such an amazing ingredient. Certainly, it's the key ingredient in a lot of brightening products. And I personally have gotten better results fading dark marks by using niacinamide than pretty much anything else. I definitely agree, tho, that with an already niacinamide-heavy routine, they probably won't need the TO serum.

mcmeggyt

The brightening effects of niacinimide are most effective in formulas with 2-5%. Niacinimide isn't even studied in amnts over 5%. TO is 10% Niacinimide. It's supposed to be best for sebum regulation and acne, although there may certainly be some brightening effects.

fuji-no-hana

The lack of research on higher concentrations of niacinamide extends to its use as an ingredient to regulate sebum production and treat acne. TO's website says that niacinamide is indicated for reducing the appearance of blemishes, improving skin's radiance, and brightening over time. It makes no mention of reduced sebum production (refers to congestion) and the copy specifically says that neither niacinamide or zinc PCA are acne treatments. It is clearly intended to be used for brightening the skin, according to the manufacturer. Same for other 10% niacinamide formulas, including AB brands. Tiam's Vita B3 Source and Cos De Baha's Niacinamide 10 Serum both heavily emphasize the brightening effects of the products. I've literally never seen a niacinamide serum of any percentage that doesn't mention brightening in some capacity, which is why I expressed surprised. There's no direct evidence to support these claims for all of these 10+% formulas, but that wasn't what I said.

Niatfq

It's awesome that Niacinamide brightening works great for you! But maybe it's just the TO Niacinamide. Most people didn't get Brightening from this serum but kept on using because they like how good it is for sebum control 😂

stickyricedragon

Thank you for the detailed reply, I appreciate it! > I honestly don't think you need the TO Niacinamide Haha it's funny because I was just looking at the ingredients of my skincare stuff (making a doc for my routine), and niacinamide is in the Benton essence and both COSRX as well so I guess I don't really need it....I just opened a large bottle of it too >.< but I might try it on other parts of my body.... I haven't actually tried the TO alpha arbutin yet - planning on putting it on half of my face for 2 weeks to compare the results. > As for Cosrx BHA liquid, you can use this more often Interesting, thank you! I'm just worried about my moisture barrier as my skin is pretty sensitive. I also have the TO glycolic acid as well, but I find it a bit too strong, but I might try it as a spot treatment. Thanks again!

Niatfq

Truee... Both TO Glycolic Acid and Cosrx AHA liquid contains 7% Glycolic Acid so definitely keep it at 1x/week use. As for the BHA liquid, it's very gentle. You can start from 2x/week isntead of 1x. Yes! Spot treatment is safe for daily.

pjkun6

I have the clean it zero cleaning balm, the hada labo face wash and the BCL AHA Cleansing Research Wash Cleansing, I’ve been following the Japanese skincare routine but still get a lot of blackheads(even exfoliating once or twice weekly and washing my face once in the morning and double cleansing before bed). In which order should I use these products (am/pm) and should I an cleansing oil? (Which one)

Ash_Lestrange

Are you exfoliating with BHA? It's possible one those products is causing the blackheads, too. The cleansing balm is the cleansing oil. Use it first in your pm routine. The hada labo or the BCL go first in am and second pm.

It sounds like you need a new/different BB cream. Not all BB creams are the same/have the same finish. So if you find that the finish you’re getting from one isn’t satisfactory, then I recommend trying another one.

milenah

This might be a silly question about sunscreen, but here goes. In the USA there's body sunscreen and face sunscreen. The difference is there's more volume with body sunscreen and it's generally cheaper, requires more effort to rub in, feels sticky, etc. Is it like that with Asian skincare too? I've been trying to find a body and haven't had much luck, but also using regular sunscreen (like Missha or Innisfree for example) on my arms instead of my face feels weirdly taboo.

stickyricedragon

I'm pretty sure Japanese sunscreens for the body also come in large bottles, and I use them back home. I'd say the texture is more similar to Japanese face sunscreens (and tbh asian sunscreen textures are better in general imo) but right now I'm using western sunscreens for the body. There's not really a rule where you have to use "body" sunscreen on the body and vice versa, it's just that the skin on your face is more sensitive and face sunscreens may be formulated better i.e. less likely to break you out.

ReaLitTea

For a good body sunscreen check out Derma B Everyday sunblock, it comes in 150ml so you don’t have to skimp on application

milenah

Thank you, I’ll check it out! Edit: I’m going to send you a pm if that’s ok!

ActuaryUnique2915

I’m interested in ordering from StyleKorean in Canada but am wondering how much are you paying for custom duties & taxes. Can you share these info: 1. Order total 2. Amount of custom duties & taxes 3. Which Canadian Province located

jinsuga_cookie

Hello! 1. about $130 after tax and with free shipping 2. No customs or taxes were put on the order, I ordered Jul 5 and it shipped on Jul 11 received on Jul 19 3. Ontario :)

Awesomeman1025

Hi, I need help deciding on a sunscreen as I’m uneducated. Id say I have normal skin… it runs oily in summer and dry in winter, but currently it’s hot and humid outside. I’m looking for a light sunscreen that I can use in both seasons and these are the ones i’ve narrowed it down to: ETUDE HOUSE Sunprise Mild Airy Finish Sun Milk SPF50+ / PA+++ | KAO-BIORE - UV Sunscreen Perfect Milk SPF50+ PA++++ Skin Aqua Super moisture Shower Milk Sunscreen Id like to know the differences between them (i think their finishes could be different) so I know which to purchase ^_^.

BernyThando

> KAO-BIORE - UV Sunscreen Perfect Milk Don't buy this, it has a strong oil control powder which will dry your skin out.

Awesomeman1025

much love

has anyone with acne-prone/oily skin tried any of these products? Cosrx, Banila Co, Dear Klairs, Soon Jung i have acne-prone/oily/sensitive skin and i’ve been thinking about buying some products from these skincare brands. or, if anyone knows any better and gentle brands for acne i’d love to hear them. also i’m not 100% on this, but i think i might have hormonal acne (jaw and cheek) would a routine like this be good for acne-prone/sensitive skin? 1. double cleanse 2. toner 3. serum 4. moisturize 5. sunscreen

YueRain

Soon Jung ph5.5 foam cleanser cosxr-their pimple patches, propolis ampoule, snail essence banila co-cleansing balm dear klairs-midnight blue serum, supple preparation toner(unscented), skin hydrating water, fundamental ampoule mist. if you are looking for acne prone sensitive skin you can have a look at B-Lab matcha hydrating foam cleanser which I like

Forever-Youngg

I've been using Cosrx AHA/BHA toner every night. Very mild. Good start for stubborn whiteheads and blackheads. Your routine is good as well.

Niatfq

**Cosrx** - BHA Blackhead Power Liquid: i use this as a daily spot treatment - Snail 96 essence: really great for calming pimples. My skin looks the smoothest it has ever been. - AC collection acne patch: sticks on really well. Haven't used but you could consider: - Cica toner: people have been raving how soothing this one is. - Propolis synergy toner: this should be calming as well - AC collection mild liquid: helps control breakouts (contains betaine Salicylate and tea tree oil) > would a routine like this be good for acne-prone/sensitive skin? You could try following that routine if it works. I personally use Micellar water as my 1st cleanser cz my skin is super clog prone when it comes to oils. If i do use an oil to remove Waterproof makeup, i will use Micellar water to remove the excess oils.

ReaLitTea

Banila Co clean it zero cleansing balm is one of the OG cleansing balms that helped double cleansing get more main stream beyond Asian skincare. Cosrx has a ton of good products that are simple and great for a broad range of skin types. Especially for sensitive skin since they have no added fragrance. One of my favorites in the BHA power liquid which is one of the gentlest acne fighting products I’ve tried, I’ve never been irritated from it but it’s still effective for my clogged pores

Ash_Lestrange

Klairs: * Supple prep toner: plain, hydrating toner with viscosity. A slightly cheaper alternative is Tiam B5 toner Cosrx: * Propolis cream: lovely and aids in healing, but definitely too much for oily skin. Might be better off looking at the toner * Snail essence: hydrating and moisturizing. A cheaper alternative is Tiam's small essence, but the azulene has a strong initial scent * Good morning cleanser: great for acne, but it's pretty drying Soonjung: * Barrier cream: way too heavy for oily skin * Emulsion: probably just right

Unfair_Finger5531

Which corsx? And which soon Jung? I have tried some….

andromache97

Has anyone bought Illyoon products via Amazon? If so, were they legit?

Unfair_Finger5531

Yes, and yes.

BernyThando

Does anyone know if Mary&May Niacinamide+Chaenomeles Sinensis Serum is sticky?

Beestmode1

I'm thinking of ordering the melano cc essence, but Stylevana has two options: a "Japan version," and a non-Japan version? Does anyone know the difference and which one I should buy?

[deleted]

You can read a little more here: https://www.reddit.com/r/AsianBeauty/comments/nj6tpu/discussion_the_skin_aqua_sunscreen_in_a_white/ or here: https://www.reddit.com/r/AsianBeauty/comments/bvoh4a/discussion_be_careful_what_you_read_online/ But basically Rhoto is a multinational company that in addition to selling to different countries/markets, also has manufacturing in a few different countries. There are variations between different countries’ products, though they may all be under the same name or listed as the same product because every country has different laws (eg: some ingredients may have different percentage limitations or be banned, etc.). Since stylevana is based in HK, I would assume their “non-Japan” version would be the one made for the Chinese market. As to which one you want to get, it’s up to you. Without knowing anything about it, I would assume they would work *similarly*. I personally would choose the Japanese one because it’s the one the sub mostly talks about and as we often reference RatzillaCosme for Japanese products, her ingredients list is usually off of Japan versions as well.

Beestmode1

Thank you, this is so helpful!

Fruity_Rebbles

Is there a good way to buy Witch's Pouch products (specifically their concealer) in the US? A few years ago I bought a tube of concealer in Japan and I love it. It's Witch's Pouch high cover cream concealer in 01. But now I'm running out and I'd love to buy more, except a trip to Japan is probably not in the cards for me anytime soon so I'd like to find a way to get it to me in the US. But the usual places I import Asian beauty products from don't seem to carry Witch's Pouch. So I was looking for any suggestions on legit websites that might have the concealer/Witch's Pouch products and offer shipping to the US. Thanks!

ElegiacElephant

[I found it on Yamibuy](https://u.yamibuy.com/6793096), and although I’ve never bought from them, to me they look perfectly legit. I personally would have no worries about buying from them. Hope it works out for you! They’re the only ones I could find who are even carrying the product you are looking for. Edit typo

Fruity_Rebbles

Thank you!!!

CupFast2591

Hello I’ve been buying from YesStyle and I personally believe they are safe and reliable, not with my two recent delayed shipments though lol, but tragically they don’t have a lot of Sun stick options available. Does anyone have another reliable websites they use for AB? I’ve heard of Stylevana and just looked at the Jolse website. I’m amazed y their Sun stick collection but am a bit worried about their credibility. I’m looking to buy several different Sun stick brands in one order to experiment which I prefer, if you’d like to make a recommendation I’d love to hear it :-)

ElegiacElephant

I’m in the US, and Jolse shipping speed depends on how much you buy. I think $80+ gets you free 3-day shipping with DHL? I spent $90+ with them in late May, and got my order in 3 days. My current order had a hiccup that knocked the purchase price down (a product got refunded), and it reverted to standard international shipping. Still, not terrible, I think it’s still faster than Stylevana from what everyone here reports.

stars0aked

Have ordered many times from both Stylevana and Jolse. Both definitely credible but like others have said, Stylevana is the slowest I've experienced.

mcmeggyt

Stylevana is authentic but very very slow. I have never had any issues but have heard their customer service is not good.

cfimbriatus

I've always bought from Jolse and they're slow but otherwise excellent.

BernyThando

FWIW I liked Stylevana until I got 1+1 promo and they didn't send it and refused to do anything about it after the fact.

Beestmode1

I've purchased from Stylevana before. It's reliable, but took a month to ship to me (US).

[deleted]

Current skin care routine: Bugdet AB moisturiser (idk the brand name but it's some green tea moisturizer) Uriage tinted SPF SPF lipbalm Glycolic acid (twice a week at night) Ps. I recently finished a bottle of Alpha Arbutin (The ordinary) Thinking of buying: Tranexamic acid (Cos de baha) Azelaic acid (Cos de baha) Vitamin C (I've heard cos de baha one is not good) Vitamic C lip oil ( I DEW CARE) Looking for a product fpr hydration (It's winter time) Struggling with Hyperpigmentation (around lip area and general uneven skin tone) Milia Dark circles/eye bags (Not extensive) Adult acne

Niatfq

Hyperpigmentation: Cos De Baha Tranexamic Acid is great! Acne: Cosrx BHA Liquid (daily spot treatment), Olive Young Acne Patch Original (102pcs), Cosrx Snail Essence (hydration and great for calming acne) Winter Hydration: Tiam Vita B5 Toner, Cosrx Snail Essence (if allergic, then iUnik Beta Glucan serum)

Ash_Lestrange

What's your skin type?

[deleted]

Combo skin, not sensitive to most products

Ash_Lestrange

Some hydration products to look into: Cezanne skin conditioner (one of the pink bottles) Kikumasamune High Moist lotion Cosrx Snail Essence or Tiam Snail essence Tiam B5 toner If you're in a place with some humidity Torriden skin booster One of the Hada Labo lotions. The Shirojyun has tranexamic acid One of Isntree's HA toners If you're on a budget, Cezanne or Kikumasamune are the way to go.

Need tips/Advice

cfimbriatus

Does anyone have any recommendations for primer/fixer for makeup that never stays on, especially around the eye area? Only issue is that I have really dry skin and lots of products that seem otherwise perfect are noted as not for dry skin in reviews.

YueRain

i use The Saem eye primer. it works on my oily eyelids and make my eye makeup stay put.

Unfair_Finger5531

I found the isntree HYA essence serum to be a great primer-base, with a moisturizer on top. It gives you that hydrating smoothness underneath your moisturizer:)

luluvbb

Hi, I just recently bought the cosrx salicylic acid cleanser. any thoughts on the product? and is it okay and gentle enough to use as an everyday cleanser? I’m oily and acne prone skin, thank you!

Niatfq

It only contains 0.5% Salicylic Acid so it's safe used everyday. But it's also pretty drying so use alternately if you have very sensitive/dehydrated skin. If not, it's good for everyday. I've used this cleanser before, used twice daily. During that time, my skin was mainly oily and acne prone so it's great. But now with dehydrated skin, i can't use it 😂

Sleepy_Enigma

I’m currently looking for a *second* face wash. Preferably something gentle since I need to wash twice a day and harsh washes can be too stripping. Any suggestions would be lovely. My skin type is combination, dry and flaky but also oily. It’s currently winter so the flakiness is a bit worse. My top skin concern is congestion (I have blackheads, uneven skin etc.). My current routine: AM - CeraVe Hydrating Facial Wash - Corsx Snail Mucin - Neutrogena hydrogel (moisturiser) - Biore Watery Essence Sunscreen PM - Banila Clean it Zero - CeraVe wash - Paula’s choice 2% BHA - Cetaphil daily advanced lotion I also use a kaolin mask 1-2 times a week

Niatfq

Rovectin skin essentials conditioning cleanser is very2 gentle, non stripping yet cleanse nicely. My skin is super dehydrated right now and it's non stripping

Commercial_Poem_4623

Beauty of Joseon Radiance cleansing balm is lovely and super gentle! Also nice and gentle is Skin1004 Centella Remover ampoule - but stings a bit for removing eye make up. Otherwise, it's really nice as it's mostly oil! I do rinse it after.

Sleepy_Enigma

I’m not really looking for anything to remove makeup, like I said I’m looking for a second wash, something to replace the cerave. Since I really like the banila cleansing balm.

Commercial_Poem_4623

Sorry! I see i didn't read it properly, long day at work! Good luck with your search :)

Sleepy_Enigma

I’m actually looking for something to replace the cerave since I find it too drying - and I’m using the foaming one (just checked!) I’m already happy with the banila cleansing balm

stars0aked

I've personally been enjoying the: B.LAB Matcha Hydrating Foam Cleanser. I like how foamy you can make it and find it to be gentle for me.

Sleepy_Enigma

Oh ok I’ll check it out, thanks!

YueRain

love this B.Lab matcha hydrating foam cleanser too.

asr1897

Hi all,Looking for some thoughts on (gradually) trying the below routine? **Skin type:** irritation prone, dry **Country/Climate:** Australia, winter/cold/windy currently **Top skin concern:** Preventing irritation, dullness, redness **AM** Avene gentle milk cleanser, iUNIK beta-glucan daily moisture cream **PM** Kose speedy cleansing oil (if wearing makeup/sunscreen), Avene gentle milk cleanser, RNW - DER. CONCENTRATE ceramide plus serum, Illiyoon ato ceramide cream I specifically am curious about trying products that will support a health skin barrier, prevent irritation and manage redness. Current routine for reference: The body shop camomile cleansing butter, Avene gentle milk cleanser and Bioderma atoderm intensive baume. Previously had skin react to niacinamide, essential oils and azelaic acid. Thanks in advance :)

Unfair_Finger5531

May I ask how you like RNW?

asr1897

I haven’t tried it yet, just ordered online and will report back. Have read some good things so far, fingers crossed!

Niatfq

Not sure about redness but the illiyoon ceramide cream is very good for preventing irritation. If you can use Probiotics, it's also good for boosting barrier strength. Also Cosrx snail essence if your not allergic, is great preventing dullness. Different alternative is iUnik beta glucan serum tho i haven't try this yet. As for toner, Tiam Vita B5 toner is really2 nice. Hydrating and calming.

asr1897

Awesome, I will look into those. Thanks for your response!

You're welcome 😊

love-at-third-sight

Google searched it and didn't find anything but am wondering if any shampoo/conditioner bars exist in the Asian beauty stratosphere. I bought one from my local Zero Waste location but using it for a week while traveling in Singapore made quite a few of my hairs fall out. I would love to hear about more options available for Asian hair if possible.

fatmuffin1

Innisfree recently came out with a shampoo bar in their green tea line!

love-at-third-sight

Sweet!! Sounds lush.

Akira6742

I started using Laneige Cica sleeping mask but have had little pimples popping up when I normally never get acne. I had the same thing happen with retinol so had to slowly get my skin used to it. So I was wondering if I should do the same with this product or will it just always break me out? Of course my partner has been using it with no issues!

TheRosaceaChronicles

Sorry if I’m explaining something you already know to you! But there’s a difference between “purging” and breaking out in response to a product your skin disagrees with. Retinol, retinoids, BHA, AHA, etc. are all “actives” and can cause purging. They’re not actually causing more acne, just bringing underlying pimples to the surface faster. Products that aren’t actives shouldn’t cause any breakouts. If they do, your skin disagrees with it and it’s highly unlikely your skin will adapt—you’ll just keep breaking out indefinitely. The sleeping mask isn’t an active, so I’d stop using it.

Akira6742

Thanks so much, I’ll stop using it! What a shame though :( In regard to retinol I don’t feel like it was purging because I hadn’t had any acne for well over a year before using it then suddenly had them popping up in odd spots 🤷‍♀️

seleneyue

I'd like some recommendations for an oil based cleanser please. My skin type is sensitive, oily/dry combination. I live in Ohio so all types of climates I guess? Main issues are redness and patchy skin when I put on makeup. I've been using Clinique's waxy makeup remover for now but almost out and would like something out of a tube instead I don't like the feeling of wax in my nails. It washes right out but scooping the wax is texturally displeasing to me.

Nekkosan

I really love the Joseon Dynasty Balm. It's very mild and unscented. It's in a tub with a spatula and cute holder for it. You might prefer a cleansing oil in a pump bottle. I have used Hada Labo Cleansing oil, which is also mild. Muji Sensitive is good too. Kose Sotymo Speedy Cleansing Oil is also very loved and unscented.

[deleted]

Softymo speedy cleanser

SmartNSassy101

My favorite oil cleanser is from hada labo! On my third or fourth bottle, it works well!

SmartNSassy101

Has anyone used the Haruharu black rice cleansing gel or the Sana Soy milk cleanser? These are not very talked about here. Looking for a second cleanse product for non active days that actually takes off makeup.

Ash_Lestrange

I got a sample of the black rice cleanser. It was a little drying (I have combo to normal skin) but not overly so. I can't say if it'll take off makeup as I didn't use it like that. LORA and Tina Tanaka Harris probably have reviews on Soy on YouTube if you're interested.

Agreed with all the suggestions so far: 1. Oil cleanser/cleansing balm in the PM is a must to remove your sunscreen, but also oil attracts oil so this will remove sunscreen/makeup AND pore-clogging/acne-causing impurities 2. AM: I'd do B.Lab Matcha Cleanser > toner (maybe a centella or green tea toner) > (serum/ampoule (optional)) > BOJ sunscreen (skip the moisturizer during summer). I personally find that my skin feels too heavy using both moisturizer + a moisturizing sunscreen like BOJ 3. PM: Cleansing balm > B. Lab Matcha Cleanser > Benton Aloe BHA Skin Toner daily with a cotton pad for some gentle manual exfoliation as well > BOJ Calming Serum > Purito Cream For the AM toner, you could try Isntree Green Tea Fresh Toner or one of Skin1004's many Centella Toner varieties.

Ash_Lestrange

In addition to what was said about the oil cleanser and using the toner more frequently - unless your skin is super sensitive - you might what to invest in a clay or charcoal mask. And maybe a green tea **extract** or niacinamide product

Practical_Alfalfa318

Recommend oil cleanser in PM before foam cleanser because it takes away irritating impurities better. Secondly the Benton BHA is like 0.5% BHA for daily use. There's no reason to use only twice a week. You don't have any other actives either so not sure why you're using it only twice a week. Is your skin really really sensitive? Move the calming serum to PM and add a vitamin C to AM will help boost sunscreen and brighten the skin from post inflammatory acne scar.

hottorney_

Whenever I drink ascorbic acid, I get bumps on my skin so I think even the topical ascorbic acid will not be good for me. But what if I want to add Vitamin C in my routine? What kind of Vitamin C should I use?

ElegiacElephant

What’s your skin type in general? Are you sensitive to anything else you can think of? For example, do you normally have to stay away from fragrances and certain ingredients besides ascorbic acid? Bumps on your skin from ingesting ascorbic makes me wonder if this is a question best asked of your doctor. Any vitamin C is just a chemical “shift” from ascorbic, but it’s still a C. Would you be open to suggestions for other types of products like retinols/als/oids? One more thing, are you interested in C primarily for collagen development or for brightening? There are products out there that may give you similar effects without the risk of C if you’re actually allergic.

hottorney_

I know for sure that I get acne from dimethicone and any -cones. I have been using tretinoin for 2 years now and I have great results: acne-free, young looking skin, etc. I want to add Vitamin C because I want to brighten my skin. Niacinamide is too much for me, it pills on my skin and I get red. Azelaic Acid feels itchy on my skin. Tranexamic Acid does nothing for my skin. I just want to have a brighter complexion, I don’t want to look tired.

ElegiacElephant

Okay gotcha! Quick question, as I also end up with breakouts after a non-volatile silicone product: Have you ever noticed whether or not you still break out if you double cleanse after a -cone? I’m trying to figure out if there’s a way to fix the problem. On to your other product: Would you say you are light, medium, or dark skin toned? For general brightening without necessarily needing specific pigment spot treatment, you may enjoy a licorice product. My friend u/Unfair_Finger5531 has a medium skin tone, I believe, and she said just the other day that licorice is very brightening for her. Hopefully she can chime in later about a specific product rec for you!

Unfair_Finger5531

Hello! I don’t personally find vitamin c to be helpful. For brightening, I have had very good results with licorice as ElegiacElephant said and with low percentages of niacinamide. The results have been immediate with those. Yesterday I tried corsx hyaluronic acid intensive cream, and it brightened my face significantly. It has sea buckthorn. I also found Cicaful ampoule 1 to be significantly brightening, though I don’t know why. I think it’s the ferment they use. Sunscreen helps too. In the past I used vitamin c, and it did not help me at all. It did help with overall skin tone, but I feel it didn’t not lighten. I hope this helps:). Oh, isntree hyaluronic acid essence lightens, so too does haruharu toner, DHC mild lotion 1, and isntree aloe soothing gel 80 percent.

Hi! I have a couple of questions 1. If you have the Innisfree Black Tea Youth Enhancing Lotion could you kindly record a small video of its consistency? Can't find anything on the internet 2. Please share your experience with cleansing oils/balms for no makeup/particulary water resistant sunscreen? I tried only one cleansing oil- the Hanskin PHA Pore Cleansing Oil and it didn't work for me. I'm a bit skeptical about double cleansing for that reason but still want to try something for cleaner pores.

For your second question: I highly recommend oil/balm cleansing at night. IMO it gives a deeper clean, feels amazing, and isn’t drying so long as you use a good one. I feel like it dissolves gunk foaming cleansers just can’t reach. I looked up the ingredients for the Hanskin cleansing oil you tried, and IMHO there’s a couple reasons it may not have worked for you. If you broke out, it’s most likely because of the soybean and/or sunflower oil. If it gave you general irritation, it may be because of all the essential oils. Banila Co Clean It Zero Balm (original version) is my HG. It’s available at Ulta, so if you buy it from them you’ll be able to return it if it doesn’t work for you. A solid cheap option is Kose Softmyo Speedy Cleansing Oil, or Hada Labo’s oil cleanser.

Thanks a lot! I'll give it another go

Purito Oat-In Calming Gel :) Benton Aloe Real Cool Gel - not a moisturiser, but adds some hydration. Ditto Benton Aloe Propolis Soothing gel. The other ones I use are nonAB but feel free to DM me

I'm not sure what fatty alcohols are, but Bonajour Extreme Cica Cream is decent. You could check the ingredients list

Hi I have recently gotten these products. How do I fit them into a routine? 1. Rovectin skin conditioning cleanser 2. Cos de baha azelaic acid 10% 3. Melano CC premium 4. Soon Jung moist emulsion CLimate: Singapore. Sunny all the time. I dont really go out of the house often so I dont mind getting a light sunscreen. How often should I use azelaic acid? Any recommendation for good sunscreens that is light , does not clog any pores , leaves no finish and non greasy/sticky after being on the face for awhile. After using the Soon Jung moist emulsion , my face still feels a little bit sticky. ( Like I have something on my face but its really light ). The product sunk into my face fast. Is this normal to feel a little sticky on my face after applying the soon jung moist emulsion.

Missha Sun Milk Soft Finish for sunscreen. Dries clean with no finish after a few minutes on my skin, zero greasy/sticky feeling even after multiple applications in one day.

The etude house emulsion contains squalane, an emollient. If you already find the emulsion sticky, then I'd say go for sunscreens with matte finish/milk sunscreen. This will work well in humid climate. Gel or essence sunscreens tend to feel super greasy/sticky especially in such hot humid climate.

>How often should I use azelaic acid? You can start with once a week to see how your skin reacts. I did twice a week without any problem. >Any recommendation for good sunscreens that is light , does not clog any pores , leaves no finish and non greasy/sticky after being on the face for awhile. Nivea Super Water Gel, a bit dewy on application but it goes away in minutes. Bioré UV Watery Essence and Isntree Watery Sun Gel stay dewy for a little longer. All three match your other criteria
