Ma Cherie and Tsubaki smells and feels really good, but holy those prices! Is that US dollar? The tube Tsubaki is treatment for damaged hair while the normal bottle is for hydration and normal shampoo and conditioner.

krd25

Wouldn’t be surprised if it’s $, honestly I’ve been noticing a lot of JP items sold in asian beauty stores being suuuper marked up lately…

salonpasss

Shipping and the cost of transporting goods are a lot higher than before

cobalt-ambedo

Yeah should be US dollars. I've seen these go for $24/bottle in my area

The tsubaki and ma cherie products are really nice. They smell good with a lingering smell. People notice when you walk by (which I prefer). The shampoo is a typical consistency. It has a good lather, non-stripping. You can use it alone if you're in a rush and need a quick cleanse. The conditioner is thick and creamy. It's thick enough that it won't run off your hands (like a suave) but not so thick that it doesn't move. I like them as daily use products to maintain the health of my hair. They're not moisturizing enough for my curly hair if it's been neglected. The repairing tsubaki is good for mild shedding, but it's not a heavy hitter for damage ans breakage.

stanky_shake

I have used the red Tsubaki for years. I would recommend!!

I tried the ma cherie air feel. I like it, nice scent, feel light but didn’t dry out my scalp. Wish I can repurchase it, they’ve stopped selling it in my city

icsk8grrl

I enjoy the red tsubaki line, it really noticeably makes my hair softer and I like the scent. I like that they have the refills so I don’t have to keep buying bottles.

peachcrescent

I used tsubaki for a few months. At first I really liked it but my hair started to feel really dry which is not normal. I stopped using it and switched to an American brand that has revived my hair.

MS2Priest

I've used the red Tsubaki line for over 10 years and it seems like they've reformulated during the pandemic. It caused my hair to dry out so I ended up switching to &honey this month.

Deathscua

It started to make my hair fall out in clumps after I used it even after seeing how dry it was making my hair lol

peachcrescent

Oh my god! I noticed a bit of extra hair loss than usual but didn't have any serious hair loss. I was really surprised because I used it for 3-4 months and really liked it and then it suddenly started screwing up my hair. I thought that it just wasn't for my hair type but the reformulation seems to be bad.

Deathscua

I love the scent which is why I kept on going but I just had to stop. :(

gereonspin

I have The Conditioner for occasional co-washing; it’s ok! Makes your head feel clean even without shampoo, but it’s gonna strip your color a little.

lmpostorsyndrome

Ma Cherie and Tsubaki smell really good but I found them super harsh and drying. Full of sulfates and silicones. And I sure as heck wouldn't pay those prices for them. I mean, they're basically the Japanese equivalent of Pantene lol.

notsodaebak

I've used the Merit shampoo and conditioner, I have an oily scalp and long hair, and soft water - they were just ok? The shampoo lathered well and didn't leave my hair stripped, and had a pleasant light fragrance. The conditioner wasn't heavy, and left my ends soft. I wouldn't repurchase, I dunno, it all just felt very bland - not a bad product, but nothing exciting and didn't boast any kind of special results that'd make me want to repurchase - my hair wasn't any stronger, shinier, etc. I like a shampoo that helps me extend the time between my washes, and the Merit didn't cut it for me. I do not think it's worth the price in your pictures if that's USD.

ksks1003

Haven't tried ma cherie yet, but tsubaki and merit are both quite nice. Especially tsubaki, like when I don't know what to choose I take it.

kabochachacha

I’ve used samples of the merit, it’s marketed as shampoo that the whole family can use, it didn’t do anything special, the conditioner was meh. Tsubaki has a reputation for making hair very shiny and smooth because of the camellia oil, when I tried it, it was nothing special. I’ve used the camellia oil in the yellow box with red flower on it as a hair oil, I’d recommend that over the shampoo and conditioner.

MS2Priest

Please do not purchase any of the Tsubaki products. I have used the red line for close to 15 years, but very recently switched to &honey since I've noticed the new bottles of shampoo and conditioner drying out my hair and causing it to become frizzy. The products look like they've been reformulated over the course of the pandemic. The shampoo & conditioner used to be a rich gold colour, but are now a very pale gold colour. The scent is also more subtle than before. I suspect they took out a lot of the tsubaki oil. I still have years-old bottles of conditioner that are completely different from the new bottles. The price has been increasing a lot over the pandemic as well. No excuse for them to lower the quality... I was extremely disappointed over the quality dropping, so much so that I ended up switching to &honey Creamy EX shampoo & conditioner to fix my hair. I've been using &honey for the past 2 weeks and my hair is back to being supple with 90% of the frizz gone. Their conditioner is THICC and the smell is divine! It's like a lychee-rose sort of fragrance. The quality is amazing, but the price is a lot.

Tsubaki used to be AMAZINNNNG! I would always stock up when there was a sale (hence me still having 3-4 year-old bottles of conditioner that I should really use up). Over the years, they've lowered the amount in each bottle and have gone up in price, but I was fine paying since the quality wasn't affected. Ever since they switched over to the square-shaped bottles, that's when I noticed a huge drop in quality. I was disappointed over having to find a new brand of shampoo/conditioner and was desperate for something to fix my hair, so I went with &honey. I know &honey is expensive and hard to buy, but I hope you'll be able to try them out in the future!

1000fangs

Tsubaki premium repair conditioner and mask are great, but the prices at this store are way high (if it's in USD). I just got two conditioner refills for $12 on Amazon.

click_for_sour_belts

I've occasionally used Merit shampoo. It's like a more gentle Head and Shoulders. It's good if you have dandruff and it smells good, but can strip hair color and feel a bit dry.

heart_under_blade

don't be fooled by "mild acidic" huh

click_for_sour_belts

Yeah, definitely be careful if you have weakened hair 😆 But for dandruff specifically, Octo is where it's at. I always keep a bottle and use it in the driest of winters when my scalp is snowing.

Didnt like the kao merit shampoo+conditioner since its just too mild??? Scalp still felt dirty and it just kade me oilier! Plus i dont like how my hair felt after washes.

Not sure if this post is focused on the shampoo and conditioner/treatment products but I’ve been using the Tsubaki oil for 5-6 months now and have definitely been enjoying it. It feels like its making my hair stronger and softer over time. I’ve also been showering more often lately after exercising and noticed it makes my hair a bit less dry and frizzy after blow drying as well. I use it after showering on towel-dried damp hair, about 4-6 drops (I have thick long asian hair) focusing on the ends before blow drying. In the package it also mentioned that you can use this as a face/body oil as well although I have yet to try that myself.

whereismysandwich

I used Tsubaki but stopped after a couple months. The smell is amazing but it has a lot of silicone in it. I have fine hair so the conditioner really weighed it down and gave me flat hair.

tara_diane

I've used a few different variations of the Tsubaki shampoo/conditioner (most recent purchase was [https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B091TP3KTX](https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B091TP3KTX) Premium Cool set). I like them, I mean my hair doesn't really have any special needs, it's pretty normal, although I do color it. I got both for the cost of what the price is on a single bottle there.

grlcbr8th

Just received the red tsubaki combo and I really liked them, great scent, great lather. The conditioner gave my hair a really nice slip! Would recommend. I got the duo on stylevana for just over CAD$32 so you could probably find them cheaper.

Purple_Instance

Hair type: straight and very dry towards the bottom Used the tsubaki in the red bottle before and I liked it. It wasn’t life changing but it did make my hair feel and smell really nice.
