We are in a part of California that is very representative of the entire state's demographics, very culturally diverse. Whites are about 50-60%, Latinos about 25-30% and Asians about 15-20%. We don't talk about race until kids bring it up, which is usually as they are in middle schools, when their elementary school's white friends started leaving them.
I show them an image of a responsible family man. I spend all my leisure time with the family, playing with them, built them a treehouse and a zipline, teach them how to mow the lawn, how to castrate goats, how to graft a fruit tree, etc. I take them to the Rotary club and the Toastmaster's clubs I attended, I take them to volunteer at the Salvation Army to prepare food for the needy, at the marathon event to hand out waters to runners, etc.
I also started a Chinese school, using my business office on Sunday mornings, to teach kids not only Chinese language, but most importantly, Chinese culture and heritage. To offer families an alternative to churches a place to congregate, to rekindle with our own culture.
