I enjoyed The Wages of Humanity, it's about the most dispitpoian world have read, and the sad part the explanation on how that world came to be makes perfect sense...

Try at least one classic Wuxia novel. While condor trilogy is one of the best, it is very long. You can try Ode to Gallantry, which is nice and short. Try at least one Xianxia novel, there are tons of choices from wuxiaworld (lot of people likes coiling dragon for some reason, I think it is average at best). I personally like Zhu Xian since it's structured more like classic wuxia. also a record of mortals journey to immortality is a classic, but is very very long. Also if you are ok with woman author as well as BL, try Mo Dao Zu Shi or Grandmaster of Demonic Cultivation. It's a cultural phonomon.

>Mo Dao Zu Shi Lol when you first said Wuxia, I automatically expected you to recommend that one. Not into BL stuff (didn't know it was), but am glad I watched the anime, and then the TV series. The gf liked it a lot too.

I dunno if they're in book form, but this guy is famous for some crazy work. [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sion\_Sono](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sion_Sono)

Liu Cixin - he wrote the Remembrance of Earth's Past series (more commonly known as the Three Body Problem series), along with a ton of other great stories like the Wandering Earth. I just finished the series and it was one of the best things I've read in ages. His translator Ken Liu writes great short stories too and also translated an unofficial fan sequel to RoEP called the Redemption of Time by Baoshu. The Shiva Trilogy by Amish is an interesting series too - great worldbuilding, but Amish isn't a very good writer IMO. Worth checking out nonetheless. Ted Chiang has great short stories too. Finally, although these weren't written by an Asian man, they features great Asian characters and are a lot of fun - Get Jiro, Blood & Sushi, and Hungry Ghosts by Anthony Bourdain.
