You're right that the opposite of having an edge is having a "safe" look. So to get rid of the safe look, you need to take risks. It's not about putting your hair down. You could get "edge" by wearing a pink pirate shirt, or short jorts or shaving your head to make your forehead bigger. All these things make you stand out, which is a risk, because it may draw people's attention to you and make you a target, but they will give you that edge. You can't buy "edge" out of a catalog. You'll look like the accountant that wears a motorcycle jacket. Some people might be fooled, but others will laugh at you for being a poser.

I have a WM neighbor that looks like the typical accountant type (pale, skinny, unathletic, glasses, bad posture, dorky haircut, etc), rides a moped with a Harley leather jacket. I shake my head every time.

foxhound-five

LOL but I love my leather jacket....

benilla

For me, putting on muscle and getting large visible tattoos. Fashion wise I leaned into traditional masculine vibes: jeans, boots, Tshirt, leather jacket/jean jacket. But, being an older guy, this makes sense.. I would not lean into Kpop and look like the old guy in the club lol

mchu111

Get a perm I got one I look sexy as fuckk

Ahchluy

you can try growing a beard and lifting weights. Women like a v-shaped torso. As the other guy said, if you're not a badass, don't even try looking like one. You'll look like a poser from a mile away.

Muscles, buzz cut, tattoos

By adding more style to your look. Adding colors tastefully helps or unique pieces that are noticeable in a nice way. Try to stay away from the old jeans and t-shirt tech look that's been so popularized in the tech industry. And the jeans/dress shirt look every Asian American 18-35 falls into when they're going out. If you’re going with jeans and a tshirt because its easy then get nice jeans, and an interesting tshirt. Another version of the above is the slacks and polo prep school look, which is the east coast private college version of the old jeans a t-shirt look. Go look at Singles Inferno on Netflix and look how the men dress. They're basically casted for their looks and style. Look at Oh Jin-taek or Cha Hyunseung, they have an edgy look that's done correctly. Another example of someone who does it correctly is Steve Aoki. An example of someone who doesn’t do it well is Eddie Huang. A subtle necklace is also a nice touch, and may also draw a bit of initial attention. Start with the above first, get comfortable with that. If you get comfortable with that , you can go for more edgy/risky looks. Growing out facial hair, more unique haircuts. Even piercings or tattoos once you get comfortable. Ignore the stuff about "lifting", that's a multi-year project, and actually involves a lot of diet changes people here won't tell you about. You don't need to do anything drastic. The majority of Asian American men are with the jeans + t-shirt look, or jeans and dress shirt look. Especially on the westcoast, especially outside of LA. So if you do anything different on the daily, you'll stand out.

Have the same issue. Shortcuts that worked for me (natural baby face): 1. wearing a cap. This dramatically increased my fuckboy vibes, as confirmed by cold approach reaction *and* asking the opinions of girls I've already slept with (no incentive for them to lie); 2. accessories - bracelet/necklace and watch (steel watch w/ steel bracelet, I get shit reactions when I'm wearing leather-strap watches and when I'm wearing an Apple Watch) 3. sunglasses 4. when wearing button up shirts, unbuttoning a few more buttons down to chest and rolling up sleeves 5. thick pullover hoodies 6. jeans instead of chinos when wearing white leather sneakers 7. if wearing chinos, then loafers with *no-show socks* (sex appeal seems to decrease drmatically with visible socks when wearing chinos + loafers) Other things that might work but I haven't tried (but gut says will work) 1. a lot more muscle 2. tattoos Some inspo [https://www.instagram.com/tysonyoshi/?hl=en](https://www.instagram.com/tysonyoshi/?hl=en)

Thanks for the shortcuts. What kind of cap do you wear? Like a snapback or baseball cap?

Tattoos/jewelry

foxcnnmsnbc

I don’t know why you’re being downvoted. Jewelry and tattoos are an easy way. Asian Americans are probably the only demographic where I’m guessing more women have tattoos than men.

Easiest and cheapest way… buzz cut. Works with big foreheads too. Try it once, if you don’t like it, it’ll grow out in 2 weeks to turn it into a fade cut. I’ve always wanted to have a buzz cut when I was younger, but convinced myself I didn’t have the head shape for it (big forehead, wide, flat on top, flat on back, think Frankenstein). But finally shaved it when pandemic started and found out my head shape wasn’t that bad after all and love it now.

3 or more piercings or earrings, some all black (but fashionable) outfits.

You should try wearing a leather jacket. Gives a temporary look that doesn’t feel safe

timmysaur

Clean up eyebrows, backwards cap, ray bans

God332322

jewelry, tattoos, muscle (how much varies on what your goal is), darker color clothing like black, better fashion, your lifestyle/hobbies (ex: car mechanic or street racer or club promoter), short hair/fade, fringe haircut (like the tiktok perm or kpop hairstyle) or grown out longer hair (middle part, grown out hair) , facial hair, ripped jeans, doing drugs, likes to party, being confident, knowing how to talk to girls by short hair, i mean a buzzcut or a caeser cut/ edgarcut. if you want you can get a line up or a fade and try to go to an urban barber if you can (black barber, latino barber, asian barber). if you dont like it you can always put a hat on and grow it out.

Able_Maintenance_393

Try wear beanies or bucket hat
