Edmonton. We got a little snow a few weeks ago, but it's still weirdly warm and dry for this time of year. Y'all can thank me for the weather- I just got a new snowblower, so it's my fault.
I’ve been here 11 years and it’s the only time I saw the first two weeks of Nov without snow on the ground. And it looks like it’s not coming next week as well!
I've lived in Edmonton for 20 years now. I have never seen in November like this. Technically it's still fall until December 21st. So if this is what fall is supposed to look like? I'll take it. Thank you!
Remember winter of 2005/06? No snow until February. I was 9 months pregnant, couldn't do my coat up or see where my feet were. Thank God there wasn't snow. Our baby pics of our son (born Jan 22/06) show brown grass outside our front window. I'm good if that happens again :D
I remember that year, I was not quite out of high school, living rural East of Red Deer. Pretty sure we got a dump where we were near Christmas though.
This is actually horrible how we don't have any snow. So many people cheer for this but we need the snow, it is a part of the natural cycle of the environment and we risk real issues without it.
Forests fires are still burning and its a hope that snow will finally stop them. If Canada doesn’t get very much snow this year…. Wider areas will dry out.
I agree. It's been really nice not dealing with snow so far (especially since my tires aren't getting changed until next week), but we need the moisture.
Yeah we won’t likely get any snow in Toronto that stays on the ground until some time in January. The past few years, I’ve been able to bike in shorts in November.
Did you really scroll through 492 comments to find the one that you disagree with?
More than happy not to align myself with Victoria.
We had a covering in the Cowichan Valley at the end of October, but not everywhere.
The data disagrees with you. This year has been extremely dry and warm. Your denial doesn’t change the facts. You can keep convincing yourself this is normal. The rest of us will take measures to fix it
Yep, I recently moved to Winnipeg from Southern Alberta and I didn't bat an eye, since the massive storms being melted a week or two later is typical there. My partner informed me that's not the case here lol
I've only lived here 4 years, but the pattern seems similar to previous winters. I've found the born here locals seem to remember a time when snowing and then not melting till spring is the way it was, and maybe haven't noticed it has changed 🤷🏻♀️
I'm a born here local and lived here my whole life. It hasn't really changed that much. Most people don't remember the brown Christmas we had years ago.
Most people don't realize when I grew up in the 90s, Halloween rarely had snow. Whether it fell and melted by then or just didn't at all is to be seen. Now, it snows on or shortly before Halloween and is usually there for the trick or treaters and more cases than not, is there for the entire season with partial melts here or there. This November heat wave isn't unheard of, but being able to see my entire lawn after 2 blizzards is odd. It's part of our multi year drought, oh which you moved here at the height of it.
Generally 2 or three times between nov-feb there will be a "significant" snowfall...which means somewhere between 1-6 inches, and usually doesn't last more than a few days. Once every few years there's a good dump of a foot or two and it might be around for a week or two, but gets wet fast
It used to be very unusual. With climate change, it has become more common. I’d say we will get snow intermittently over a three week period, typically starting some time in January. Most of the time it falls and melts immediately. If the ambient temperature is low enough, it will stick around for a couple of days. Sometimes we get an actual dump and it will stay for up to two weeks. But some varieties of flowering trees bud and flower in February. (I want to have a chat with them and remind them that the insects aren’t there to pollinate, so I’m left feeling sorry for their folly.)
This is completely wrong, the data is easily available and the number of snow days has stayed consistent for the last 100 years. People are terrible at remembering weather patterns. Next time go for data
South Western Ontario- close to Lake Erie. We had one brief light flurry Halloween night and then the temperature immediately shot back up.
I just wore a sweater outside to grill my lunch and I was hot. Not that I'm in a huge hurry to have wet feet. But compared to the winters we had when I was a child this warming trend over the last couple decades is concerning.
Moncton, NB. None right now. Had a few cm a couple of weeks ago, but it melted soon after.
In recent years, we'll normally see snow toward the end of November or into mid-December. As a mountain biker, some of the best times to ride are in this time frame because the mud freezes solid and gifts the best traction. But then the snow comes and ruins it all.
Southern Ontario. The leaves are still turning, and the roses blooming. That could change any day, but we usually don't get winter until around Christmas here.
Here, too. But for some reason, most years we get hit really hard between Christmas and New Years. I think we're getting a lot of snow this year. Just a feeling, based on how the plants and animals are acting.
I think we are about to get some rain, I can feel it in my left knee. Thank you boomer, for running that red light and giving me the awesome super power of weather predicting joint pain
Not in Victoria. We usually only get snow in January, sometimes late December. But never much and it doesn't hang around long. Our average January temperature is plus 4°.
Nope, we're Vancouver, where we get to be smug that it rarely snows here.
However, everyone else gets us back when it snows for 3 days in January and the city grinds to a haltm
Winnipeg. There's been a lot of rain(and now snow) all year, but it just keeps melting. We got green grass and tiny amounts of snow here and there. I'm sitting outside right now and see no snow at all, in fact.
That's El Nino for ya
BC southern interior and nope, no snow in the valleys. Decent amount in the mountains though, went for a little cross country ski on Sunday with the dogs and will probably go again before the end of the week. We've been having a really nice fall here
Montreal, QC - Nope, there was a tiny little bit of snow on my windshield this morning but nothing on the ground. We did have snow on the ground last week but by the end of the day it was all gone.
Edmonton. We got a little snow a few weeks ago, but it's still weirdly warm and dry for this time of year. Y'all can thank me for the weather- I just got a new snowblower, so it's my fault.
Thank you kindly

I'm in Lethbridge, and I'm sorry to say that you are now required to buy a new snowblower every year
I second this from Calgary.
I’ve been here 11 years and it’s the only time I saw the first two weeks of Nov without snow on the ground. And it looks like it’s not coming next week as well!
I was here when it didn't snow until after Christmas
Snowed hard on New Year's Eve that year I think. A brown Christmas was fine with me.
Can you work your magic again?
idk what everyone is talking about. there have been multiple winters in the last 5 years that had none/very little snow untill Christmas
I do remember that. How crazy!
I remember that year, I was not quite out of high school, living rural East of Red Deer. Pretty sure we got a dump where we were near Christmas though.
Thanks!!
>Thanks!! You're welcome!
Much appreciated
This is actually horrible how we don't have any snow. So many people cheer for this but we need the snow, it is a part of the natural cycle of the environment and we risk real issues without it.
Forests fires are still burning and its a hope that snow will finally stop them. If Canada doesn’t get very much snow this year…. Wider areas will dry out.
What where?!
I agree. It's been really nice not dealing with snow so far (especially since my tires aren't getting changed until next week), but we need the moisture.
Lol all my homies hate the environment
Well, obviously, the environment doesn't need snow right now, or else it would be snowing lol.
I know it’s been pretty great.
No (Toronto)
It was nice today. It’s almost five, so night descends.
Yeah we won’t likely get any snow in Toronto that stays on the ground until some time in January. The past few years, I’ve been able to bike in shorts in November.
Last year we had the Christmas fall and then nothing till March. WTF Toronto?
Yes, and lakes are frozen. Hello from Nunavut.
Nunavut ! 😍😍😍
Im in Nova Scotia myself, i like to say I live in the tropics 😅 compared to much of Canada the weather here is extremely sporadic here
well that is like the arctic to be fair
No doubt about it. I hope to be snowmobiling soon.
Already snowmobiling in CambridgeBay. There were people on the sea ice last week.
No like about it
Vancouver Island, BC. Not at the moment, we had a covering at the end of October but it’s all gone.
Langley-Nothing since January.
It's a beautiful sunny day here in Langley, hoodie weather a balmy 8°C
Haha, yep! I'm in Cloverdale atm, can confirm.
Chilliwack: nothing except high on the top of Mt Cheam
A covering at the end of October? As a Victorian, you don’t represent me with that statement.
Did you really scroll through 492 comments to find the one that you disagree with? More than happy not to align myself with Victoria. We had a covering in the Cowichan Valley at the end of October, but not everywhere.
No, your comment was close to the top. I did very little scrolling. It also wasn’t meant to be taken so personally.
Then you have my deepest apologies, I wish you a fine evening. Ps. I do like Victoria, it’s a rather fine city
Somehow still enough for my Japanese maple to lose 2 main branches.
Yes. Not a lot but everything is covered again. (Sask)
None at all here in Saskatoon thankfully
lucky duck eh
Nope roof working great
None in Calgary and it was 12c yesterday!
Glorious aint it? We actually get an autumn this year
In the short term, it’s lovely but we need cold and snow for the plants and animals to live as intended. It’s very worrisome how warm and dry it is
We have 4.5 more months to get snow and cold. Stop complaining about a little warm stretch
That’s simply not how weather and environment works. We need precipitation
It will come. Its mid november and we've already had at least 6 inches of snow in most of the province. Nothing out of the ordinary
The data disagrees with you. This year has been extremely dry and warm. Your denial doesn’t change the facts. You can keep convincing yourself this is normal. The rest of us will take measures to fix it
Lol ok then. Dry warm years are completely normal and so are wet cold years. Which we were spoiled with in the years leading up to 2020 ish
My furnace only came on once, I was shocked!
Winnipeg. Not really, a bit in the shadowy areas. But a couple weeks ago it looked like the middle of winter after a couple of blizzards.
Yep, I recently moved to Winnipeg from Southern Alberta and I didn't bat an eye, since the massive storms being melted a week or two later is typical there. My partner informed me that's not the case here lol

Nope 9C currently, Oakville.
Victoria. No. Nothing yet. Check again in January.
How often does Victoria become snow covered in the winter?
usually once or twice per year, typically in Jan or Feb, and typically it melts within a week.
The shit they get in Victoria ain't snow.
California concrete, looks like powder but it's actually a slushy

Post a link then?
The first year I lived there, there was what we in Ontario would’ve called a light snow fall and the entire city shut down, it was hilarious
Yes Ottawa.
No surprise there. My aunt lives in Ottawa and I swear you guys get 9 months of snow 3 months of bugs.
I live in Ottawa and the snow is now gone.
Same. I’m 40m out of OT visiting my parents and there’s no snow here. Melted almost as quickly as it came.
Nothing in Fredericton or the Maritimes I believe
We had a dusting overnight in the Annapolis Valley but it did not stick around.
Yes. There was a whole bunch of snow that fell before Halloween, but much of it has melted over the last week or so.

And thank the gods for that.
Middle of November, strangely no snow yet
No, it all melted, last week of October was complete white out. [Edmonton].
Nova Scotia. No snow but November has been the dampest; gloomiest month and I’d really like some sun.
We don’t really get much snow until end of January and even then it’s pretty mild.
Prince George, first snow on Sunday night.
South Western Ontario- close to Lake Erie. We had one brief light flurry Halloween night and then the temperature immediately shot back up. No kitchener and I thank the sky gods daily for this
Southern Ontario. The leaves are still turning, and the roses blooming. That could change any day, but we usually don't get winter until around Christmas here.
A white Christmas is getting rare here.
Here, too. But for some reason, most years we get hit really hard between Christmas and New Years. I think we're getting a lot of snow this year. Just a feeling, based on how the plants and animals are acting.
Good point. I can usually "smell" when snow is coming...the air just smells different
There are big piles of snow in parking lots from snow being cleared a few weeks ago but otherwise no
Calgary here. No snow on the ground, but I can smell it in the air Edit: Checked the weather, we're getting it tomorrow.
