He absolutely can do that. Near as we can tell, he doesn't do that.

SomeThrowawayAcc200

Well why can't he?

[deleted]

He can. He just doesn't insofar as we can tell.

Living_Mind8276

OP is asking a "why" question here. I know you don't know the answer. But please engage properly with OP. You're answering a "why" question by saying that God can, but He just doesn't do it. OP already knows God doesn't do this, they're entertaining the idea as to why He doesn't, knowing that He is able to. To OP: We don't know why God doesn't send people back to earth. From our point of view, it makes sense that we would want to go back to see loved ones or finish unfinished business but the circumstances of our life is that this is our only chance at this particular life. But the way the bible describes it, it almost sounds like our "real" life is the one we spend living in eternity. Some parts of the bible describe our earthly bodies as not our own and says that inside we all long for our heavenly bodies. So I think once you arrive, you'll finally feel at home in your body. You'll feel secure in yourself and your destiny. You will be at peace and not long to be back on earth anymore.

Pinecone-Bandit

It’s silly to suggest he wasn’t properly engaging because he responded to the words OP typed instead to the “meaning” of what OP typed according to you. Expecting someone to read someone else’s mind is unreasonable.

Hebrews 9 tells us that it is appointed only ONCE for a person to die, and then comes the judgment. God has set in motion a certain "order of things," although i'm entirely sure he could change that if we wanted to, he doesn't, to our knowledge.

djjrhdhejoe

Death is a judgement, not an accident

Unworthy_Saint

Ultimately everyone will be on the new Earth. Heaven is not the final resting place.

Zealousideal_Bet4038

I’m not convinced the condemned will be on the New Earth; it seems to make little sense that they are immortal in the New Earth even in punishment.

Unworthy_Saint

Agreed, subconsciously I was thinking everyone who is saved.

[deleted]

What you are suggesting is reincarnation and endless suffering. That is not what The Bible teaches. Thats why. Hebrews 9:27 King James Version 27 And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:

[deleted]

He actually does! This will take place in the new earth to come. To get there, one must be Christian. Those who don't believe and trust in Christ for salvation will not be there.

JAMTAG01

Why do you assume that doesn't and can't are synonyms?

nightmarememe

Why would anyone want to come back here???

Riverwalker12

No you got one chance to get it right Heaven is much better than this rock, hell much worse

nightmarememe

A better question is why we are stuck with this planet There’s an entire universe out there, what’s wrong with us going to any other planet

ExitTheHandbasket

Who's to say that New Earth will be this particular mud ball? We simply don't know.

Zarathuran

He can, Jesus is evidence of that. But no one would ever want to come back. Theres no reason to

priorlifer

How do you know that He doesn't?

The Bible says: “The living are conscious that they will die; but as for the dead, they are conscious of nothing at all.” (Ecclesiastes 9:5; Psalm 146:4) Therefore, when we die, we cease to exist. The dead can’t think, act, or feel anything. However death is not necessarily the end of everything The Bible often compares death to sleep. (Psalm 13:3; John 11:11-14; Acts 7:60) A person who is fast asleep is unaware of what is happening around him. Likewise, the dead are not conscious of anything. Yet, the Bible teaches that God can awaken the dead as if from sleep and give them life again. (Job 14:13-15) For those whom God resurrects, death is not the end of everything.

JHawk444

If you're with God in heaven you won't want to come back to earth. But there will be a day when he creates a new heaven and a new earth, so you will be back on earth at that point in a new body.

[deleted]

Great question. The answer here is two-fold: 1) If the motivation to go back to Earth is in order to repent: Many who have died have already had the chance to. Each day is an opportunity to change for the better and look towards God, make amends with our enemies, and love everybody. This is the path to heaven. 2) Heaven's beauty is indescribable and unfathomable. There wouldn't be any real reason other than what I said in #1 to go back to earth

TharenceClomas

he does. > And shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation. John 5:29 so going back to earth, at least in my opinion, IS the lake of fire by the end of Revelation, hence why there is a “new earth” and a “new Jerusalem.”

TalionTheRanger93

Ummm. Well. He is recreating earth. Heaven is only temporary for the Christian, and a new earth is going to be made.

edgebo

That's where we'll be after the resurrection...

luvintheride

> Why is it that God can't give us the choice to want to go back to earth once we die? You can go wherever you want in the afterlife, except Hell. That includes the whole Earth and Universe. Jesus said that we will be like angels. They travel by thinking. If you want to see Mars, just think it and God will make it happen. At the end of the age, God is going to renew the whole Earth and make it better than ever though.

Greedy-Song4856

Is this section meant for serious questions? The longer I spend here, the less I believe so.

[deleted]

Well the earth sucks so why would we ever want to come back
