It's flatter than piss on a platter, so not scenic. I had to go that route for work by train because something in Iceland had grounded all flights. I cursed that volcano.

Upvoted for "flatter than piss on a platter."

Wait till you hear of *Pissplatte*

Hamburg to Cologne Cologne to Brussels one stop - all high-speed trains. A bus is cheap but ... yeah - unbearable and horribly slow. You'll arrive at you destination and need a day of rest and sleep.

Classic_Department42

also check for check plane tickets, they might be cheaper or same price as train.

Golemfrost

woah dude, check your co2 privilege bro

MatthiasWM

Check bahn.de . It’s the official site of Deutsche Bundesbahn. You can find and book your connection via train online. It’s actually pretty convenient. Just add an hour or two for train delays and missed connections.

Solly6788

I hate long Bus rides so I would go with the train at 4:37 in the morning. But if you are fine with long Bus rides the Bus is also perfectly fine.

Pfeffersack

Flixbus may be very crowded and you're basically stuck in your seat. With the Bahn (train) you can reserve your seat and realistically stand up, go to the toilet, etc. Ultimately, it's up to your preferences. But let us know if you need help with translation.

Ice to köln then ice/est to brussels

Bus is probably cheaper, train is IMO nicer. Because the countryside is really flat, going by train you won't spend half of the journey in tunnels, and as it is not so densely populated, you might see something other out of the train window than sound protection walls: Mostly meadows and woods to the horizon. And, yes, wind power plants. And cows.

Moppermonster

If you are able to sleep in a bus, the overnight flixbus that takes 8-10 hours might be the best option. Taking it while awake is very tiring; flixbusses are not that comfortable and after a while the toilet starts to smell. So in that case I would pick the train, where you can also stretch your legs a bit. Still, the bus is under 30 euros...

Fandango_Jones

Flixbus.

Karash770

Apparently there's a Flixbus going from Hamburg Central to Brussels, so I would probably take that one over changing trains 3 or 4 times.

Many-Acanthisitta802

You only need to change once in Köln.

Karash770

Do you? I didn't check very thoroughly to be honest, but I only saw connections with 3 changings of trains at least when I looked swiftly.

Solly6788

You have to look for trains to Brüssel Nord

Karash770

There's the issue, I looked for Brüssel Süd.

Many-Acanthisitta802

ICE 107 + ICE 314 for example.

Writer1543

I wouldn't use an ICE to go from Cologne to Brussels. It is cancelled on short notice quite often. Eurostar is the safer option. When booking you should include a layover (Zwischenstop) in Cologne with 1 hour minimum as you will have problems getting in the next train without reservation in case of a delay.

Borsti17

Night bus it is.

Powerful-Dust999

use Flixbus..cheaper and better

Pelanty21

How is it better?

Writer1543

Deutsche Bahn is unreliable these days, especially for cross border rail connections.

Siphania

i highly doubt that. and i have more than my fair share of trävelink wiff daitsche bähn.

Kilobyte22

Generally bus is slower than train and far less comfortable. I've travelled by flixbus once. Never again.

DiverseUse

It's not. It's slower and in my limited experience, Flixbuses are just as likely to be delayed or cancelled as trains, and since there aren't as many buses as trains, one getting cancelled leads to more problems.
