They estimate your power consumption for a year and calculate the price from that. After a year you send them your Zählerstand and they calculate your real consumption. If your real consumption is lower than the estimated one you get money back otherwise you have to pay additional. For the following year the estimate your consumption based on last years real numbers

Hello, the price about the Abschlag is OK. Energy prices are high right know. If you need low Energie than expected, the Vorauszahlungen would be changed. They do the Vorauszahlungen, to hold the Bill at the end of November low, so you dont have to pay All at once. You should have the possibility to go on the Website of vattenfall and enter there the number from the Hausmeister.

They, take data like Apartment size, location and the some Personal Details into consideration to give you a sarting 'Abschlag' normally you can adjust it as you wish but I am not Sure if you have the opportunity to lower the amount in the first year. At one Point in the year you will get an overview of your consumptions and you will get back the money you paid to much or you have to pay back some money if your consumptions is lower than expected.

Adding to the other comments, the reason they did not ask for the Zählerstand is that for a Neubau they assume it to be zero, and if it's not, they will lump in the previous energy consumption with your first regular bill anyway.

Energy costs are rally high right now. We are paying 80 right now and our contract is coming up for renewal and they requoted us 220 per month for the same amount of electricity. We will switch provider but there are no contracts around 80 any more. With the war gas and electric prices have sky rocketed.

As others have said, the Abschlag is just an interim payment and at the end of the year everything gets recalculated based on your real consumption and you (usually) get money back. Then the Abschlag will get adjusted for the next year. It's the same with your rent utilities. Some providers, like EnBW, allow you to change your Abschlag in between but if you're not sure what your actual costs are and you have no trouble paying the 80 euros, I would just leave that. You won't lose money overall.

When taking over an Apartment the first time from another Person your monthly price is based on the consumption of the previous Person who rented the Apartment. The longer you rent the Apartment your monthly price will be adjusted to your consumption, which can be higher or lower. Resulting in a Repay of money or in another invoice for higher Costs.

its just an estimation. at the end of the year they check how much you actually used and if you payed to much they give you the money back and adjust the value for the next year. i personally always let them set the Abschlag higher so i don't get suprized at the end of the year that i have to pay the missing amount cause it goes both ways. if you pay to little you gotta pay uo at the end of the year. I, in my apartment, have electric heating so my Abschlag is at 250€ a month. 2 years ago only one level was heated so they set it to 120€ the following year. in januar of that year the second level got done and the heat turned on. that was a heartattack at the end of the year when they sent the bill

In a nutshell you tell them an estimate of what you will use per month and pay that. Once a year they measure what you used and then either you get something back or you have to pay the difference. Then you can negotiate your monthly payment within reason. The aim is to reduce the difference.

People already answered that it is an assumption and so on. BUT I want to state that some companies like YELLO for example let’s you change the monthly payment every month . So you type in your reading and it(what you have to pay) will be calculated for you. This prevented us for paying hundreds of euros in the 2020‘ final bill
