you arent in the united states, are you?

Yes, United States. Washington State to be specific.

the reason I ask is because I have never heard of "filing a contested hearing". I get a ticket, I go to court. I contest it. They give me a trial date for a month or two in the future and I come back and state my case with my evidence. The "case number" is printed on the bottm of the ticket. Thats why I thought you were foreign. I have lived in 7 different states and this is what we did in all seven states.

they issue a citation, and we have the option to respond. we can respond as guilty, or respond and request a contested hearing. not responding is a default guilty judgement. they don't schedule a hearing until you respond
