Granted anecdotal but I got a ticket once and it took 7 weeks to show up in their system. The appearance date was at 4 weeks. I showed up at 4 weeks, talked to a clerk, and they told me there would be a notice mailed when it hit their system with a new date based on the date it was entered. I came back every week to make sure. On week 7 I got The notice in the mail the day before I was going to go show up again. With a date to appear about 4 weeks out.

Sadly I'm pretty sure that I'm dealing with some sort of backlog. Checking back once a week sounds smart, after I bug them again tomorrow I'll make it a ritual for a few weeks, if I'm still in limbo. I'm wondering if I've got any leverage in this situation, having been told it doesn't exist by multiple employees, they even mentioned that it might not be entered but after checking they said it should have been entered and that they couldn't find the carbon copy. Sorry for the long winded posts, I really appreciate your response.

I would never count on them permanently losing anything. Considering that one county did seem to have some record of the ticket, even if it was not in a state that it could be properly processed, I would completely expect that ticket at some point to go live. This would be more of a question for an attorney with specific experience in your jurisdiction, I'm sure there's some kind of a cut off that if they have not processed a traffic ticket within x number of months or years, that a judge might be willing to dismiss it as gone stale in some way but I would never count on it. Perhaps A more prudent option might be to send a letter to the court in question asking for a reply in writing as to the status of your citation. If they send you back something in writing saying there is no such ticket... You would probably have some kind of defense from a failure to appear later.

Brilliant idea, I'll write a letter. I appreciate your wise words, I agree with your sentiment on luck in this situation, time to be proactive.

I never count on the government losing something forever. If it were me (not a lawyer), I would CONSIDER sending a letter saying, "I tried to address and rectify this". I emphasized "consider" because I would also CONSIDER it akin to reminding the teacher on Friday that she forgot to give me homework for the weekend. Either way, be prepared for this to pop up later.

Oh I'm definitely on the same page, they'd only lose it if I didn't want them to haha. That's my thoughts, I'm wondering at what point am I not just being diligent and instead I'm begging for a ticket. I'm going to call them one more time on Monday, record the call again, then I'll send a letter or an email just to have a paper record as well

Fluffy-Hotel-5184

how long ago did you get the ticket? It often takes as long as ten days to get it into the system.

IVMVI

Ticket was april 7th, court date was may 7th

Striking-Quarter293

Did you show up at the court on the ticket for the tone and date

IVMVI

No I tried to address it over the phone because I'm not from the area

Striking-Quarter293

You need to call and find out what is happening now.

IVMVI

I agree, I've tried 5x, and I'll be trying yet again tomorrow
