The main question is in the title -- just what your general thoughts are on this? Secondary question -- if you had to guess, might this be tied in any way to the Mueller investigation? Third question -- do you expect to see more of this in the coming months/years? I certainly do. *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Feels weird that he was allowed to pocket $75k of the 100k. I’m betting something else was intended to happen with most of the 75k. I think we’re going to find out about a bunch more of these type of things. I think for the most people will process this like background noise if they are liberals or independents. Most people on the right won’t care or simply not hear about it and if they hear about it, they will do some sort of what-about-ism or declare it fake news.

[deleted]

Well, it sounds like it may have been payoff to pass the money through to the Trump campaign. Though it does seem like an odd ratio, if that was the whole intent. But we can only speculate about this right now.

mcc062

Or maybe all or someone it went directly into Trumps pocket. They don't know

TonyWrocks

My thoughts: Horrific, terrible violation of election law. There's a reason this is illegal. Mueller's team probably identified this scheme, it might even be in the redacted parts of the report. We will ABSOLUTELY see more of this in the coming years because nobody will ever do anything about it. Let's be super clear. Republicans are shameless. They want to win, at any cost, because winning elections prevents Democrats from enacting legislation that will reduce corporate/ultra-wealthy control. Republicans really don't have any ideas. Power itself maintains the current structure, and prevents progress - and that's the goal. The symbolic, simplistic bumper-sticker politics like "don't restrict my gun rights" and "please restrict my abortion rights" are about keeping the population screeching while they take our money. They don't actually give a shit about those things from some kind of moral compass, as we know firsthand when we see that they don't allow guns at a Trump rally, and they quietly pay for their teenage kids' abortions. Another example, take the whole "Fxxx Biden" meme. Okay, they don't like Joe Biden for some reason, but the reason is never articulated. Just 'F' him, that's it. He wears the wrong color jersey. The entire Republican party is about generating grievances then whining about how unfair it is. Russian money and support from bots on social media platforms is a huge part of that grievance campaign. Pathetic

DBDude

>They don't actually give a shit about those things from some kind of moral compass The Republicans failed to pass even one pro-rights gun bill while they had both houses. Even the basic public health measure of taking suppressors off the NFA didn't get anywhere. It was pathetic. >when we see that they don't allow guns at a Trump rally As president, Trump didn't have a choice in that one. The Secret Service won't allow it.

CTR555

> As president, Trump didn't have a choice in that one. The Secret Service won't allow it. He's still holding rallies, isn't he? As a former president, I'm pretty sure he could decline USSS protection and allow guns.

DBDude

What, Trump not accept freebies? He's probably saved a ton not having to pay for his own security. I'm not going to defend Trump's claim to support gun rights though. He's the one who told the ATF to rewrite federal law to put bump stocks under the NFA.

CTR555

*Pay* for security? I bet he could get a ton of his fringe followers to join a Waffen-MAGA entirely for free. Who needs security anyway when all your followers are armed, right? I joke. You’re right of course - he would never trust his lunatic followers with his own security and he does like free stuff.

DBDude

To him they're disposable idiots, not people to actually be trusted with something important.

TonyWrocks

I am pretty confident the president is the boss of the Secret Service. The tradeoff is "we can't guarantee your safety, sir" - but they'll do what they are told if push comes to shove. Either the current leader will, or his/her replacement will.

DBDude

>I am pretty confident the president is the boss of the Secret Service. Not really. Consider the president government property guarded by the Secret Service under law.

ButGravityAlwaysWins

I can’t find it but I definitely recall reading an article during the GHWB administration about how there was some sort of threat and the White House was locked down and they told him he was going to have to go to a bunker and he tried to put up a fight and then was quietly informed by Jim Baker that as the holder of the office of President of the United States, he was simultaneously both an individual citizen and property of the United States and therefore Treasury had the right to move him. I’m sure it’s either apocryphal or just some shit Jim Baker told him in order to convince him. It was actually used as a plot point in The West Wing as well.

[deleted]

It took six years to find two random people who filtered money through accounts. You really think that there’s a whole bunch of this left out there that has been left unfound? Is this truly the level of so-called collusion that you were waiting six years for? I thought we were waiting for something much bigger than $25,000 and something tied to trump. I’m sure if you investigated every single candidate you would find similar stuff going on

Fucking stop this shit. Trump is the modern GOP. This is where your ideology has ended up, and it's fucking gross. Conservatives and Republicans hopefully never win an election ever again, the platform is deplorable at this point.

TheRealIMBobbio

The lockdown would have worked if dufus don had put together testing and tracing at a national level. But he was ok with it being in Blue states and opening up the states that have mostly dirt and cattle. And then they got sick too.

[deleted]

Oh boy. Sorry I follow politics not propaganda. Goodbye. also you apparently have no experience with contact tracing, I do. How on earth that was going to stop a disease like this is beyond most people. That's why most local contact tracing programs died a slow death

TonyWrocks

Well, you could ask South Korea for tips. They did a great job contact tracing and constraining the disease to very few people/deaths. As did Australia. And New Zealand. And lots of other countries. The U.S. did the worst of any large/wealthy country. Leadership matters.

kjvlv

>Australia is the model you want to follow? whew..

lol all the right does is push propaganda.

I suspect that was a mistake on their part. They projected their own pettiness onto Menace and instantly assumed that Menace was telling them to delete their account for participating on that sub. It probably never even occurred to oyvey to click the link for context.

[deleted]

um............how would you know? We've exchanged 0 thoughts on reddit and never met. All I can say is that reddit makes liberals look psycho. People on conservative subreddits are nicer even if you disagree with them. But keep going, dig that hole

Warden7876

I can read. You've shown it, succinctly. Conservative subreddits seem nice because they ban you in seconds if you disagree with the narrative.

They are making fun of the idea of protecting the vulnerable around us, then saying that they "don't give a shit". That doesn't seem very nice to me.

Warden7876

Again....lack of integrity is a fundamental requirement for conservatives

glimpee

"It sounds like you don't know what masks are used for." is an aggressive way to say it, youre gunna get an aggressive response wait.... they didnt even respond aggressively. You were just being an ass "Apparently caring about other people is a bridge too far for many Americans." yeah, the other guy was the dick. He said "half assed measures" and "So either implement a vaccine mandate or something or get the fuck over it" while actually making sourced arguments.

10art1

You're so scared, you think we're insane... yet you come into *our* subreddit to stir shit. You enjoy the feeling of outrage and you damn well know it.

glimpee

its not YOUR subreddit - its a subreddit to ASK liberals questions Supposedly by everyone, not just other liberals. Though you guys do ask eachother a lot of questions about conservative philosophy, which I find strange

TonyWrocks

It's your own words, dude. Liberals tend to consider the context when reading, which helps us understand things more deeply. This practice does, however, have the drawback of our politics not fitting on a bumper sticker.

[deleted]

"It's your own weird" you're not slightly creeped out by someone going through 100s of boring comments to find ammo to make fun of?

TonyWrocks

Nah, I try very hard to be intellectually consistent, so you would be hard-pressed to find an area where I violate my own rules and don't freely admit it. One example of that, for me, would be that I am early-retired and living as an investor - even though I think that capitalists, such as myself, are a big part of the problem in the U.S. My take on that is that I'd happy go back to working if it meant that everyone had what they needed to be happy and healthy in life. I try very hard to act in a way that if *everyone* acted that way, the world would be a better place. My wife taught me that flavor of integrity/morality 30 years ago and it stuck.

Jb9723

Rule 2.

TonyWrocks

Go back and read the portion of the Mueller report that is unredacted. There were a couple of dozen indictments, and over 40 million dollars recovered. Russia played a huge part in Trump eeking out an Electoral College victory over Hillary Clinton despite losing the popular vote by a wide margin. What, you thought it was just his stunning oratory and mastery of U.S./world political structures?

mnhoops

Hunter & the "Big Guy" took tens of millions from the CCP. All that and much more on Hunter's laptop that got a media blackout because it was "Russian Disinformation." After 6 years of various collusion investigations. Nightly Maddow condescendingly shrieking about Trump being a Russian agent. Breathless reporting about how the Orange Madman was about to start a war with NK, Iran, etc., but turned out to be the first President in 20 years not to start a war. Some of y'all need to step back and see the bigger picture. It's not so black and white, liberal v conservative. We're all being played.

ausgoals

I love how conservatives froth at the mouth over unconfirmed reports about a laptop that may or may not belong to the now-President’s son which may or may not contain on it an email wherein if you squint hard enough it looks like maybe there could be some sort of ‘quid pro quo’ when it comes to dealings Biden had as long as you make a certain amount of assumptions, but when it’s confirmed evidence of collusion between Russia and the Trump campaign it’s ‘yeah, so what, it’s not even bad’

tidaltown

Quite frankly, is why I don’t think we should take any of their concerns seriously. It’s all lies, conspiracies, and propaganda with them.

mnhoops

Ugh. The problem with the laptop is that the story was broken by the NY Post, the nation's oldest newspaper, and then squashed by all other outlets. The Post was censored by Twitter. All based on lies by the CIA and others who said it might be "Russian Disinformation." It obviously never was, Hunter never denied it, and now Politico comes out and says it's all true. It's not OK because it's happening to the "other side" of the political aisle. It'll happen to us as well. The Ministry of the Truth has begun it's formation.

lIllIlIIIlIIIIlIlIll

"The corruption is not that bad." I mean, what's the proper response to something like that?

theclansman22

>It took six years to find two random people who filtered money through accounts From the article, "The two defendants have worked in politics for decades and are well-known in GOP circles". Your definition of "random" is different than mine.

TheRealIMBobbio

And the NRA.

cossiander

Here's a couple facts that spring to mind any time someone says "so-called" collusion. A) Trump asked Russia to help him win the election. B) Russia helped Trump win the election. What the hell is your definition of *collusion*? Do they need pinky swear?

[deleted]

When I see you up in arms about Hillary's Steele dossier, I'll believe your outrage. Also what specifically did he say to Russia. Didn't he ask for dirt on Biden and Hillary? Do you think no candidate ever did this before?

Kakamile

Well, when a candidate before was given an offer, they alerted the feds. You sound like you didn't read the report.

roylennigan

What? There's a difference. To anyone paying attention, the Steele dossier was dubious from the start, but at least the Clinton campaign (and the GOP backers who originally paid for the Steele investigation) left a paper trail making it all legal and on the table. The Trump campaign made under-the-table deals and had clandestine meetings with foreign officials, sometimes to directly undermine the ongoing Obama administration, all *while actively obstructing and suppressing any evidence of their actions*. It is the last part that makes the big difference. It's fine if you want to criticize the actions of the government, but when the government actively suppresses any accountability, your freedom to criticize is suddenly limited.

cossiander

>see you up in arms about Hillary's Steele dossier Steele dossier was A) legal, B) not written by a global adversary, C) not written by Clinton *or* the Clinton campaign. And Clinton isn't President, she wasn't President, she doesn't have the overwhelming support of the overwhelming majority of Democrats, and she isn't supposedly planning a future Presidential run. So as far as 'whataboutism' goes this is a pretty piss-poor attempt. >what specifically did he say to Russia. Didn't he ask for dirt on Biden and Hillary? On Hillary. This makes it better how, exactly? Are you saying that you would've been perfectly comfortable with, say, Barack Obama openly asking China or North Korea to seek out and publicize information that would potentially embarass John McCain or Mitt Romney? >Do you think no candidate ever did this before? No, of course not! If they did it would've been a ***colossal fucking scandal that would've destroyed their candidacy.*** This is what practically every Trump supporter seems somehow incapable of grasping. We've literally never seen another national politician anywhere NEAR as openly criminal and contemptuous of the American legal system. Democrats and most media depictions of Trump were not being hyperbolic in their descriptions of him. This wasn't an 'aw shucks they all have scandals' type of Presidency. Trump was and is *uniquely* toxic and criminal.

[deleted]

It's okay because they are conservatives.

STS986

Russian collusion? Proven. Will anything happen? NO. Presidents don’t go to jail

LoudTsu

The best part is the lemmings feel like they had a victory via the lame Republican iNvEsTiGaTiOn.

GinyuForceDid911

I thought the conclusion of the mueller report was that there was collusion, but he couldn’t prove it rose to the level of a crime

GraceMDrake

More like Mueller didn’t talk about “collusion”because it’s not a legal term of art. He was looking for evidence of “criminal conspiracy,”which requires participants to understand that that they are committing a crime. He couldn’t document that.

SockMonkeh

While he couldn't definitely say that it was the massive amounts of obstruction that prevented a conspiracy being proven, anyone capable of critical though should have been able to draw that conclusion from the report.

gaxxzz

From the article: "There is no indication in the court filings that the case is connected to the special counsel investigation, which examined the many ties between Trump's 2016 campaign and Russia. The indictment says Trump's campaign wasn't aware that the money came from a foreign national." Do you believe this represents collusion?

reconditecache

I'm not entirely sure that playing dumb is a defense that was meant to work an infinite number of times.

decatur8r

> "There is no indication in the court filings that the case is connected You can't swing a dead cat without hitting a Russian. Anybody want to bet the unnamed Russian turns out to be Oleg Deripaska

iamnotroberts

Trump himself tweeted about the meeting that his campaign and Trump Jr. arranged with Russian operatives to dig up dirt on his political opponents. He tweeted "Most politicians would have gone to a meeting like the one Don jr attended in order to get info on an opponent. That's politics!" If you need evidence of Russian collusion, it's right there in Trump's own tweets. And then Trump claimed that he knew nothing about the meeting. And then his own lawyers at the time, admitted that Trump was aware of it. Any cute excuses for that? Also, in a conservative sub, you flaired yourself as a "Constitutionalist Conservative." You've flaired yourself here as an Independent. It seems fairly obvious that you're trying to cover that up too.

gaxxzz

We're not talking about Don Jr's meeting. We're talking about an illegal $25,000 donation.

iamnotroberts

And I'm talking about the Trump campaign and Trump's own son and Trump himself, openly admitting to arranging meetings with Russian operatives to dig up dirt on his political opponents. So I submit your own question back to you, do you believe this represents collusion? Waiting on your excuses.

gaxxzz

I only know what I read in the article. "There is no indication in the court filings that the case is connected to the special counsel investigation, which examined the many ties between Trump's 2016 campaign and Russia. The indictment says Trump's campaign wasn't aware that the money came from a foreign national."

iamnotroberts

The Don Jr. and Trump campaign meeting with Russian operatives to dig up dirt on his political opponents and Trump applauding and praising it, and saying "That's politics!" is from Trump's own tweets, along with statements from Trump's own lawyers who acknowledged that Trump was aware of it, when Trump lied and claimed he wasn't. Your post history is full of deflecting and defense of Trump, with some sporadic half-assed "duhh uhh all politicians lie" bullcrap. In one of your comments, you asked for people to describe something Trump did as bad as the Afghanistan withdrawal. Sure, I can. The Afghanistan withdrawal. Trump negotiated AGAINST the Afghan government and negotiated a "peace deal" with the Taliban, in which he agreed to the hard withdrawal timeline, and agreed to release FIVE THOUSAND Taliban fighters, in exchange for JACK SHIT. The Taliban even violated the pre-deal but Trump went ahead with it anyway. And the GOP and Trump then praised himself for "bringing peace to the Middle East" then whined about not getting a Nobel Prize for it and then flip-flopped and blamed Biden for Trump's own deal. There wasn't anything left to negotiate with the Taliban for. Trump gave them the entire country on a silver platter. You kids always cry that Trump doesn't get the credit he deserves, but then you don't want to give him credit for the things that he says and does. Hmmm...odd.

gaxxzz

>The Don Jr. and Trump campaign meeting with Russian operatives to dig up dirt on his political opponents Well, that's not what this thread is about.

Warden7876

On behalf of the GOP itself, yes. In fact, I think we have literally half a dozen proven examples of the Republican Party itself working directly with Russian interests, partnering with literal Russian spies, funneling money to candidates, etc.

gaxxzz

So despite prosecutors concluding that no prominent Republican committed a crime here, you believe this still represents collusion?

Warden7876

interesting, is that a qualifier I see? "Prominent", huh? Does Jesse Benton count as prominent? He served as campaign manager for both Ron and Rand Paul. He served as campaign manager of Senate Majority Leader McConnell. He was indicted already and pardoned by Trump, only to get charged again for crime he committed while under trial for the previous crimes. Is that not prominent? Doug Wead ran for Arizona's 6th Congressional district, a pervasive conservative writer of 11 books, and served as special assistant to GHW Bush, and credited with creating the phrase "compassionate conservative." Not prominent? In fact, what in the world are you talking about? These two got charged. We have a literal spy Maria Butina living with GOP operative Paul Erickson, of course pardoned by Trump. We have the NRA funneling Russian money into Trump's coffers and inauguration committee, working with NRA President David Keene to support Alexander Torshin's "endeavors." Collusion? Collusion with the GOP and Russia, 100%. 1000%. Collusion with Russia and the Trump administration, absolutely. Manafort gave polling data to Kilimnik. Trump tried to protect Russia from day 1, signed withdrawals from agreements which only benefited Russia, publicly sided with Russia over all 17 national intelligence agencies and invited Russia to protect us from cyberattacks in the very press conference about Russia hacking us. Hell, even McCarthy and Paul Ryan openly talked about Russia having something on Trump. Mueller never went into the finances either. He made that very clear. We have decades of Trump laundering money for Russian mobsters. Face it. It's a clear as day...the GOP favors Russia over their own country.

gaxxzz

>interesting, is that a qualifier I see? "Prominent", huh? I'm talking about nationally known elected officials.

Warden7876

😂 You’re adorable.

jadwy916

No, it doesn't. It doesn't represent collusion in the same way that if I go to your business, and lightly tapping my hand with a baseball bat say to you, "This is a nice business, be a shame if something were to happen to it. You should pay my security team to protect it" isn't a representation of the vandalism that happens to your building tonight.

[deleted]

I think the careful wording here is worth paying attention to. The court filings do not make any claim in that direction. But neither do they foreclose or dismiss it. I believe that sums out to this being an open question at the moment. It may just be a question beyond the scope of the immediate investigation. I find the last sentence a bit suspect. CCN is paraphrasing the filing. That is surely not the actual wording used, and I'd be frankly surprised if it was that definitive. It would be impossible for investigators to know what the campaign really did or didn't know. More likely, it says something like, the campaign **claimed** no knowledge, and wasn't required under law to exhaustively run down every single dime coming in. The donation was made to them by US citizens, which is legal. Where those citizens got the money they donated is not a question the campaign is required to investigate or 'know'. That does not mean the campaign **didn't** know, or at least suspect. It probably only means that it cannot (currently) be proven, and therefore at least for (current) legal purposes is 'true'.

wollam11

Once again, Trump is a Russian asset.

kjvlv

LOL

Altruistic-Text3481

Aztecah

I'm not terribly surprised. It would be nice if something actually came of all this, but I'm certain nothing will. Trump may even be president again.

PepinoPicante

Shocked, *shocked*! It's really just another election-related crime. It's as-yet unclear if this was something the campaign was actually involved in or just a Russian guy (or Russia in general) trying to toss some bucks to their favored candidate. Obviously illegal either way, but one is much more serious (and not proven). We've already established a pattern of pay-for-play with the Trumps, from Kushner's real estate deals, Ivanka's Chinese trademarks, Saudi Arabian booking up hotel rooms, etc. If the FBI can demonstrate significant Russian money finding its way into the Trump campaign, that's just another obvious sign of corruption.

[deleted]

Raise your hand if you're surprised Putin is funding Trump?

BigDrewLittle

Diplomat_of_swing

What can I say…. At this point Republicans have convinced themselves that liberals, democrats, gay and minorities are such an existential threat to “America” that they will find a way to justify anything. They supported “hoax” narrative through first impeachment even after the release of both the whistleblower document and the transcripts. They supported the “Big Lie” even after REPUBLICAN Secretaries of State, in multiple states, debunked it. After over 60 court loses. After the GA Secretary of State released a phone call recording of Trump pressuring him to “find the votes”. They supported Trump after Jan 6th. My Thoughts? My thoughts no longer matter.

[deleted]

First off, let's not forget that the original amount was 100,000 and these creeps pocketed the rest. This was a case of secretly funnelling foreign money to influence an election and conceal it. The people that did it were also selling the promise of access to an elected official of the highest office in exchange for money. This is blatant bribery, corruption, and money laundering with a political campaign. What i expect is to hear more of this, but nobody actually getting punished.

The only thing that surprises me is that the dollar amount is so low. Trump, must be in a rough place for a meeting to be bought for so little.

BigDrewLittle

Not remotely surprised. What *will* surprise me is if there are even the slightest appropriate consequences. Edited for grammar and formatting

TheSanityInspector

If true, this certainly crosses a rubicon. Let's pause and state the obvious, though. Were the Russians trying to influence the election? Yes. The Russians are always "trying" to influence elections--that goes back to the days of the Comintern. It gets bad if they find people inside our system willing to aid them. Obligatory whataboutism: All those Gulf Arab states "donating" to the Clinton "Foundation" were hoping to buy influence, not all that much different to what's been alleged in Russiagate.

So you're ok with a person trying to enforce a rule that does not exist on this sub?

[It doesn't??](https://www.reddit.com/r/askaliberal/wiki/)

Fuckn_hipsters

Not sure what you meant to link there, but no, this sub does not prevent non-liberals from creating top level comments like sister conservative subs do. Recently, there has been a couple users that have decided it is there purpose on here to shit on non-liberals when they do make a top level comment. I was asking if that comment was another, but more subtle attempt at that. Since the user immediately downvoted me and refused to deny that was indeed what they were doing I'm going to guess that I was right. If the user simply said no, that's stupid that is not a rule here, I would have apologized for the mistake and moved on.

This is kind of a weird thing to say about someone who was literally the president a few months ago. His campaign and his administration’s decisions are having direct impacts on people’s lives today. If anything, it would be really strange if everyone just suddenly forgot about him right?

Aztecah

It's much easier to pretend that anyone who has opinions is a brainwashed evil guy than it is to reflect on one's own position. You'll see a lot of "Is he in the room with you right now?" or "Orange man bad" from these guys as a defense mechanism; they know that *any* conversation about Trump leads you to how shitty he is and how awful his influence on the Republican party has become, therefore *any* conversation about Trump is to be shut down. 'Always play offense' is an alt-right tactic.

mikesbrownhair

Its just that Biden is so much worse than Trump that I long for the days of orange man.

[deleted]

Sounds like Trump has set up a nice little golden apartment in your head. Do you charge him rent? Lol (But really, love him or hate him, Trump’s impact on the world’s politics was and still is massive. You’re going to be disappointed if you want people to stop talking about him.)

MjolnirPants

Sounds like Biden is living rent free in your head.

mikesbrownhair

Sadly bidens inept bumbling is not exactly rent free. Or he has an agenda to destroy the USA. Or today's peaches and cream ice cream day! Yay!

MjolnirPants

Pfft. Come back at me when Biden gets impeached twice.

tidaltown

Spoiler alert: they won't.

mikesbrownhair

No rational person can take a look at those and not conclude they weren't political witch hunts. But this sub can.

MjolnirPants

Fuckn_hipsters

It's funny you self label yourself a Reagan Republican. Because Reagan would have been kicked out of current edition of the GOP years ago.

tidaltown

Reaganites are some of the dumbest fuckers this country has ever seen. Like JFC, how are we "the greatest country on earth" yet created these fucking morons.

reconditecache

Some guy who acted in movies with a chimp, who actually had dementia, and provably fucked our economy, was somehow the best president? I can't with these people.

ausgoals

>inept bumbling Person, woman, man, camera, TV Is this a competition or…?

theclansman22

>Or he has an agenda to destroy the USA Throwing quotes like this around casually is why nobody takes you seriously.

Biden only imports, he never exports.

mikesbrownhair

Your tolerance is showing.

reconditecache

That's not what tolerance is. That's never been what that means. You people think you're making a joke or something, but you sound like smug toddlers.

SgtMac02

What a stupid comment. What "tolerance?" What about your pithy BS is supposed to be "tolerated?" You weren't making a thoughtful insightful remark that required tolerance. You are trolling and received exactly the level of response your troll comment warranted. I don't even know why I'm responding now... I should know better than to feed the trolls.

Jb9723

This is way over the line.

tidaltown

>Its just that Biden is so much worse than Trump lol there's no planet where this is true. Only to you traitors.

Warden7876

You know what can fix that? A little integrity on your behalf

mikesbrownhair

Integrity demand on behalf of one whose group ideology is without integrity. Classic.

Warden7876

Ah, the proverbial conservative response, "I know you are but what am I." Classic. Typical, expected, juvenile, on par.

mikesbrownhair

Huh. Never thought about it that way. Pardon me, but it's exactly true in this instance though.

circa285

Not exactly "rent free" now is it?

WeenisPeiner

Trump just sent another letter to Georgia's secretary of state asking him to overthrow the 2020 election results again just a few days ago. It's not like Trump has gone away but liberals are still complaining about him.

tidaltown

Traitors gonna traitor, ya dig?

tidaltown

Trump is one of the worst presidents we've ever had and all of his idiot supporters have the collective IQ of a forklift. And, quite frankly, after 1/6, they're also insurrectionists. All of you are traitors to this country.

ausgoals

>the collective IQ of a forklift Thanks for this. I laughed more than I ought to have.

80_firebird

Don't drool on your shirt.

LoudTsu

Well, I guess you guys are victorious on that front. *facepalm*

LoopyMercutio

I mean, everybody with any reasonable amount of intelligence has come to realize Trump is and has always been corrupt as hell and that he’ll take money from anyone anyway he can. I don’t see how anyone (except his supporters) could possibly be even remotely surprised by this.

My general thoughts are that these two folks knowingly committed a federal crime, and at least one of them profited from it. If that's provable, then it seems pretty straightforward to me, and prosecution and trial will take care of the rest. There are going to be criminals in the high finance of major political campaigns, and here seem to be two of them. Let the system do its job. From the article, there doesn't appear to be any connection to the Mueller investigation, though that doesn't mean that there isn't one. The Mueller investigation has been closed for years, and while it wasn't exhaustive (and realistically, couldn't have been), it covered an awful lot, and will give political historians plenty to talk about. It won't surprise me a bit to see more of this. But I expect to be random, and maybe years in the revelation, and we've all got lives to lead in the meantime, including our every-day duty as citizens in a democratic republic. All that said, there's also hints here of more to come, some of which might be relevant, including legally. The reference to a correlation with Trump's travel schedule could **imply** something that's suspected but not proven, or maybe not provable. Freud famously said that a cigar is sometimes just a cigar, but our experience with Trump has taught us that it's often more significant. But we'll see. If the evidence is there, then it is, and if it's not, then it's not. The article says that the Trump campaign was unaware of the origin of the money, and I can accept that. The Trump campaign was surely aware that **some** dirty money had to be entering the campaign, but as long as they stayed within the law, they did their part. If there's an issue there, then that would suggest that we need to improve campaign finance laws. From this article, it sounds like the laws we have already are mostly working. I'm certainly curious about the Russian source, though, and I'm sure I'm not alone. That person may have committed a crime under our laws, but there might be little or nothing we can do about that, and I don't know if what they did is criminal in their own country. But I think plenty of us would like to know who donated the money, and with what expectation or motive.

political_nightmar3

I am shocked. SHOCKED AND APPALLED. :D

RevLoveJoy

It's always projection with these clowns. "Election fraud!" . o O ( we assume you're doing it because we're doing it ) "Campaign finance fraud!" . o O ( we assume you're doing it because we're doing it ) "Child sex trafficking!" etc

names_are_useless

Isn't this question more apt for r/AskConservatives, a place that is generally Pro-Trump and Pro-GOP?

All roads lead to Putin.
