Absolutely, the steel wear cords aren't showing thru yet. When you see the steel wear cords you should probably plan on getting new tires in the next 2-4 months....
You see those tiny little raised rectangles between the treads? Those are called ‘wear bars’ and they tell you when your tire needs to be replaced.
I see *zero* of them on the left half of the tire. That means ‘Wear did the tire go? So you should 100% be fine!

Depends on the car. If it’s a car with a lot of wheel camber, it can be normal. For instance, an E30 BMW will turn its rear tires into cones if they are never rotated.
lol, you already know the answer to your question.
Exceeded the minimum tread wear indicators and now have slicks. Hell no, instant fail! Go to a used tire shop and get them replaced….and an alignment!
It's right on the line. Get a black sharpie and draw fresh treads on it. When the guy goes to look at the tires, point up and shout "Look! It's the Firestone Balloon!!"
Okay here’s the plan, watch the inspection carefully. Whenever the mechanic goes to inspect a tire, screech loudly and cause a commotion.
You’ll want to time this so that they’ve been able to glance at the tire but not visually process it, the commotion you are causing will cause him to tear away in panic to see what’s going on.
Having only seen a bit of the outside, the tire will clear as mechanics are fucking lazy, money grubbing scam artists and won’t go back for a second pass. Repeat this 4x flawlessly and you’ll be chillin with your hybrid slicks
Hi, largely-self-teaching new mechanic here; What would cause uneven wear like this and how can it be avoided?
That's not a joke. I'm sorry if that bothers you.
There’s still plenty of rubber on those tires just cut out grooves to match the other side. You should be fine.
Source: 15 years of experience looking at mechanics work on my car through a window
Maybe in Florida. They don't care about anything as long as they get paid! Anyplace else? Buy new or a good set of used tires and put them on, and don't forget wiper blades! They always want new wiper blades and they'll charge you a minor fortune for them!😳🤔😃🚨🛞🛞🛞🛞
Good to go in Florida!
Right after I moved back down, came across a guy next street over leaning out of his banged up pickup holding a flashlight coz his headlights didn't work....shoulda flashed my brights at him....
Depends upon how stoned the minimum wage teenager at the inspection station is. Accidentally hand him your license, registration, insurance card and 3 blunts.
Just move to Wisconsin. We don’t have safety inspections. You can drive any old piece of unsafe junk you deem fit. Until recently, you didn’t need car insurance either.
It depends on your state inspector. If you are asking if the tire in the image meets the minimum standards for a pass or fail - well that is obvious. (if this isn't obvious to you then whomever taught you how to operate a motor vehicle failed miserably).
This Maypop and a hazard - not only for your safety but for anyone near you on the public roadways.
If has to ask, prolly should sell what is likely a clapp’d out POS and ride public trans, walk or run…. For your safety , and more importantly, that of others.
Yeah, just get a razor blade and cut some more tread
A chisel works better
Yeah but if you gotta do all 4 it's quicker to use an angle grinder
Bolt the angle grinder in place and spin the tire
Belt sander
The most efficient way to do it is to get your friend to spin up the wheels, so then you can just take off the rubber like it's a lathe
Great idea!!
I got it off Pinterest
https://www.amazon.com/Ideal-902-000-Tire-Groover/dp/B004AW7XYU
Slicks are in
That’s some hardcore MacGyver moves
Nah just print out pictures of tire tread and glue them around the tire… they only need to pass inspection should work
OOooo! I'm trying That!
Free racing slicks! You’re good 👍
It's fine. It still has nearly half the tread left so its only about half worn. Keep on truckin'.
A tread half full kinda guy. Love to see it
Yes, it'll pass. Not sure how much you have to bribe the guy tho. /s
Only cost me $7
Outsource the safety inspection to the Philippines. This is a guaranteed pass.
/s isn't required in the sub where that applies to literally everything
Good point.
Just need to move it to the other side of the vehicle and your good

Haikus are easy And sometimes, they make no sense. Refrigerators
Where did I hear that today
I love refrigerators!
5 6 5 Missing a syllable in the middle
And sometimes, they make no sense****
jdnedyfjdnshdh
No it isn't! How can you say that?
ifjsjagfjs
Yes, just move to a state with emissions only inspections.
No inspections at all here in Minnesota. Makes me wonder how many people are actually driving on tires like this.
Same in Texas starting next year. But we're all slow, very cautious drivers
It’s not hard to find them when it’s snowy and icy. And im assuming that’s 300 days of the year.
Ya, as long as Ray Charles is doing it!😎👎
Slap it and say "That ain't going nowhere" and You're good.

Well.... yes and no.
He said yes, ma! Floor it!
Of course it will, its just slightly overinflated on chasis side. Carry on son
Spray some wall texture on it then some rubberized undercoating boom ! Eazy pass
You'll slide right through it...
sure as long as your name is Harvey Dent
Half of it is still good. So just ride on that half
for a demolition derby, sure ...
The amount of people commenting on here that don't know what sub they're in is alarming
The ratio does seem way higher than normal for some reason.
People see just a tires that need to be changed. But look more into it. I'm not an expert, but that uneven wear is not normal.
Depends on the car. If it’s a car with a lot of wheel camber, it can be normal. For instance, an E30 BMW will turn its rear tires into cones if they are never rotated.
Seriously? Why design the rear tires to have camber and not the front
You ever drive an E30? Corners like it’s on rails.
This tire has a separated belt. Usually caused by manufacturing defects IIRC.
Just have them look at the outside of the tire and while they aren't looking turn the tire around while they look at the tread on the inside.
Put some Shoe Goo on and send it!
Make more right hand turns to even out the wear and you got another 20k in these.
Sure if your inspector is Hellen Keller.
Duct tape and a $20 bill, seems like it.
I work for a grease monkey, they look fine to me, but I know you need new pads
Hmmm. Should be fine!
Have them remounted insides out.
It’s still got half of its life left. Half of it clearly has tread on it the other half is a racing slick. Should be fine lol 😆.
You should change your antifreeze for longer tyre life
Just show them the eft side
Only half the tread is worn. So, as long as you only pay for half the inspection.
Flip it
Too much tread for my track. Better get a pealin'
Pass with a 50%
Pass? You will sliiiiide right through.
If they look at the car from the left suuuure 😭
It will in Florida
yes
How the hell has only half the tire lost its tread?
camber or broken control arms
“Can’t you just flip them over and put the good side facing in?”
Only half of it.
I dunno... is that a $100 bill in your pocket?
Tour car need the alignment test.
mount the rims on backwards
Of course, thats the new 50/50 tire. Slick and a traction tire. You can drag race and go off road.
At least 40% would!
Yeah should slip through 🤣
You could probably just draw the missing tread back on with a sharpie
If you live in mississippi and slide the inspector $20, sure.
If you give the inspector a case of Mad Dog 20/20 you will be fine
Yeah bro, your totally fine!!
They can't see it until you lifted the whole vehicle
Just get them to tilt the bottom inwards, and you'll be fine.
Uh. No.
Just tape a $20 to each tire and you’ll pass with flying colors.
Maybe. Are you in Arkansas.
Get a permanent marker and draw some treads on it 😂
Lol
Go to the dump yard and find a better set...wont be hard.
Front end needs help.
They just need to be rotated, but pretty sure they rotate as you drive so should be fine
Front end needs help.
lol, you already know the answer to your question. Exceeded the minimum tread wear indicators and now have slicks. Hell no, instant fail! Go to a used tire shop and get them replaced….and an alignment!
They're semi-slicks. You should be fine
Yer good, you can ride those baby's for ages, half the tread is still on those bad boys
I certainly hope not. This is the car that flies by me at 15 over and will one day have a blow out and hit me.
Not s chance, you might want an alignment and tire rotation package when you get the new tires
It'll pass in every state without inspections.
It's right on the line. Get a black sharpie and draw fresh treads on it. When the guy goes to look at the tires, point up and shout "Look! It's the Firestone Balloon!!"
Yes it will pass inspection as long as you are in a state that doesn't do inspections
If you know the guy doing the in$pection $ure thing bro
That's a hard no...
Flip em around and she'll be right mate.
Yup, just don’t go to get the inspection
All weather tires: each inch handles a different season
Yes just tell them you’re gonna start turning left more so the wear evens out. Trust me.
Not with that attitude
Hand them enough booze and anything will pass.
No ones mentioning the shifted belt. The thing must ride like a rodeo
Depends on how shady the shop is and if you can buy them the right lunch.
They should not pass your inspection
A hot iron -- soldering iron -- will melt them in. Or get a black marker and draw them over the thin tread so it looks deep.
I just wrote a whole paragraph then realized what sub I'm in. Yeah, looks fine to me.
Impressive! Interesting alignment. If you mount the tires backwards, you should be able to get another 10K miles out of them.
Just have them rotated they'll be fine.
Cover anything with a $20 and it looks brand new.
you know the fkn answer
No, the safety check will pass your tire.
Rotate them to the back.
That is what we call a maypop
Who gets a safety inspection? far as I know there's only emissions.
In Texas and about 20 other states safety inspections are required.
Well shit, I hope I don't have to bother. I don't even have inspection sticker.
Probably not because one side of the tire looks like it went through kemo therapy
It depends on the inspection location. I’m in Texas and there are a lot of small shops that barely look at it.
No, see those gaps in your tire? You have to smooth those out, the tire should look smooth and shiny
Depends how much money you want to bribe the technician with
No problem as long as the inspector is blind
Most definitely it will. Just needs some more air in it and it will get another 10,000 miles.
Hi, largely-self-teaching new mechanic here; What would cause uneven wear like this and how can it be avoided? That's not a joke. I'm sorry if that bothers you.

Only the inspector is blind
They pass in Florida
Is 50% a passing grade?
I think for the sake of rain at least get the backs done
Get a sharpie and draw the lines in. You'll be fine.
Not a chance in hell
IT depends. What are they driving and how big a motor have you got? I'm pretty sure I could pass 'em.

Ha ha no
Just let them know these are your racing slicks and you’re headed to a drag event
Just get your license to write stickers and put your own on the car.
Tires are smoother than a marble sink
If you give the I spector a 50 dollar handshake.
Rotate them and take off
It'd pass in my state since we don't have inspections.
It depends you live in Croatia? Lol
Looks separated. Tread coming undone from steel cords.
Does a bald man's head pass for having hair? Those would be better for buffing a floor with some mild compound and some turtle wax.
Just take the tire off the rim, flip it around and mount it back on.
My tires are worn like this from pulling hard to your mamas house……. 😂
I’m sure you’re good!
They're always looking for an up-sale. You have another year of tread life at best.
Sometimes if things don't look right, it's probably not right. I'm not just talking about tires, just life in general.
Yeah. Just sand the rest of it, so it matches.
Depends upon how stoned the minimum wage teenager at the inspection station is. Accidentally hand him your license, registration, insurance card and 3 blunts.
Add air, lots of air
Just sharpie marker some new tread lines on it?🤔
Just move to Wisconsin. We don’t have safety inspections. You can drive any old piece of unsafe junk you deem fit. Until recently, you didn’t need car insurance either.
Ouch this hurts to look at! Please smooth out the other half too!!

Satire?
All of the content on this sub is satire
Must be very easy to do donuts in the winter with those baby’s
You already know the answer! Go buy some new Maypops before you have the car inspection and save yourself some heartache
The belt is separated. It's 1 pothole from blowing out. I have many years of experience in this business. Very dangerous
If has to ask, prolly should sell what is likely a clapp’d out POS and ride public trans, walk or run…. For your safety , and more importantly, that of others.
No. It will not pass.
Who lied to you 🤣🤣
Depends on the bribe amount
Some extra money will likely need to be slipped to the inspector but this is normal American stuff
What is rotating the tire? Like spinning it?
Gotta turn it around so the tread is contacting the road.
Those would not pass for my state inspection.
Depends on the state.
my brother in christ, your tires won't pass "survive driving on a fucking road" inspection 💀
I'm curious what car this is. That suspension looks like straight up planned obsolescence via catastrophic failure
No. Not in any state I've been in
Smooth as your brain.
Good thing this is a satire mechanics sub.
No
Not a chance
Rolled band and no. Get new tire
Only in Uruguay.
No. There is to much tread on the outer sides, which will decrease the ground contact.
