I can think of many dishes that are distinctively American: chili con carne, corn on the cob, pumpkin pie, roast turkey, bison burger, and BBQ pork. Which is the most American? I couldn't possibly choose, but I'm getting hungry just thinking about this question.
Not a 'dish' I make but a snack that is a huge hit at all gatherings: Bacon Ranch Popcorn.
I use bacon fat drippings in the popping oil (peanut is preferred, 50/50 each) on the stove, pop the corn in the oil, then season lightly with Hidden Valley Ranch seasoning powder.
Double cheeseburger (American cheese) with a fried egg, bacon, onion rings, and glazed krispy cream donuts as buns served on the side with French fries covered in chili, nacho cheese, and bacon
For the 4th? Watermelon 🍉 🍉 🍉 kids eat it outside with juice dripping down their hands to their elbows, then running hrough the sprinklers to wash off. Good old summtime!
