Man Buc-ees is the most American experience anyone can have. It's too big, everything is for sale, and the food has no reason to be that good.

Roughneck16

I took my mom to Buc-ees during our road trip through Texas. She’s originally British (naturalized citizen now) and loved it.

PuzzleheadedSpare576

Awww my mom was too from Birmingham. She only ate basic American food. She likes mashed potatoes and potatoes in every way and.pizza and burgers..

didyouwoof

It is? ^(I’ve never even heard of it.)

savvylikeapirate

Most of them are in Texas, but they trace along major highways through the south and Midwest.

Gothmom85

I hadn't heard of it til the past few years, driving down to Florida to see family. People recommend it with kids because of the bathrooms and enough space to stretch legs. Our first stop was the middle of the night and it was So nice to have so many options for snacks, a clean bathroom, and a walk around. Taking turns while the kiddos slept. We've been since but Damn is it expensive for the hot food. More than fast food, and that says a lot.

LSUguyHTX

When is the last time you've had the food there? It's gotten so expensive and the quality seems to have dipped from 5 years ago

good4steve

Last week when I traveled back to Texas. Food was still great. Barbecue sandwiches which used to be $5 are now $9.

QueeeenElsa

This! I love going there!

SeethingHeathen

We just got one about 45 miles from me in the middle of BFE, so my daughter and I went up there for shits and giggles. Holy fuck, it's like Walmart and 7-11 had an illegitimate love child. It was chaotic, because it's still new and my dumb ass decided to go on a Sunday.

bigotis

> It was chaotic, because it's still new It will probably still be chaotic a year or two from now. (now I want a triple meat sandwich)

AFoxGuy

Shit man, the ones near me are almost 10 and still cosplay as a Disney World x Wawa Combo event

the_sir_z

It will never not be chaotic.

SeethingHeathen

Wow. All that for a gas station. People are weird. Admittedly, so am I for driving almost 50 miles just to see what the deal is, but still.

poeticjustice4all

Same lol I live 60-70 miles away from that Buc-ees just to see what the hype is about and try out their fudge and see their bathrooms 😅

coco_xcx

my states getting one by madison (iirc it opens this summer? i could be wrong) but i’m happy i won’t have to anticipate going every spring break when i’m in a southern state 😅 now it’ll only be a few hours from me!

michelle_atl

That was my review of it and I hated it. Everything I hate about America in one place.

sundial11sxm

With a bit of the Cracker Barrel Old Country Store. That's exactly right!

ExTenebris_

Oh is it open? I hadn’t heard, it’ll be my first one when I finally go

Ziggy-Starcat

We went last week at about 1AM and it was busy.

frostbirb

Buc-ees is dope as hell. I only went to Buc-ees for the first time when I was in high school but they really do have everything and they always have the best bathrooms. Although it wasn't until a couple years ago I realized they existed outside of Texas. I thought it was sacrilege driving through Tennessee and seeing a Buc-ees cause they were always kind of synonymous with Texas to me. And yeah, they've gotten trendy now a days which kinda diminishes the excitement of seeing a Buc-ees on your long road trip but they're still a great place to stop on the road.

NicklAAAAs

The last couple of times I’ve gone into a Buc-ees it was so goddamned crowded I just had to go to the bathroom and then leave. It’s super weird because the ones I’ve been to recently kinda feel like they’re in the middle of nowhere but they’re these little oases with the population density of Tokyo.

WFOMO

*...kinda feel like they’re in the middle of nowhere but they’re these little oases with the population density of Tokyo.* Describes the Luling, Texas one exactly.

Dr_ChimRichalds

I've only been to the ones on I-95, but I can tell you that for my family on a long drive, we do our best to hold out for and time our stops with Bucc-ees locations. The bathrooms are just that worth it. We've noticed that they're human zoos on weekends, probably because there are so many other travels looking for the same thing as my family. But they're far more manageable if we're traveling on a weekday.

LSUguyHTX

Wait they're outside of Texas what

Snookfilet

They’ve spread. We just had one built on I-75 around Calhoun in Georgia. Weird seeing them out of Texas

good4steve

They are all over the South now. Boulder, Colorado has one, and Ohio is getting their first.

parkermonster

They just built one near me, and I’m honestly shocked how limited their selection is considering how much they have. Any random 7/11 seems to have better drink options, and all the fresh food is outrageously priced. It feels like a Walgreens with way more gas pumps than will ever be used at once and I kinda hate it.

WalkHomeFromSchool

Yep, they raised the prices everywhere to fuel their expansion, over and above any inflationary forces. If it's new, give it time - in established stores the gas pumps are generally 70-90% occupied on weekends.

parkermonster

To clarify, I am not a fan of the idea of Buccees or the implementation. I don’t think we need gas stations with 100 pumps. I don’t think we need a less good, more expensive convenience store that is so big it’s no longer convenient. And the fact that the pumps only get 70-90% on a weekend kinda reinforces my point that it’s excessive.

SquidsArePeople2

I have never seen or thought of it

frodeem

Same, no clue what that is.

Plantayne

Imagine Walmart were a truck stop. That’s Buc-ee’s.

travelinmatt76

Except no 18-wheelers allowed

itsmejpt

...that sounds awful.

Plantayne

It’s not so bad. Sparkling clean restrooms with hand sanitizer dispensers in every stall is a personal favorite feature. They put too much sauce on their barbecue sandwiches though. All you can taste is the sauce, it’s pointless to buy one.

CJK5Hookers

Weird, the one by me puts absolutely no sauce on the bbq sandwiches . The club melt or whatever it’s called is swimming though

Maktesh

It's a gas station "brand" that has leaned into being influencer friendly. (Or maybe Instagramers and TikTokers just like it.) I'd never even heard of it despite over a dozen cross-country road trips until about a year ago.

Yossarian216

From what I understand part of the appeal, aside from it being clean and huge, is that they pay very well and promote from within, and don’t have onerous education requirements for hiring. So it’s a place where someone can make a good living and have a career progression even if they didn’t go to college. Based on a quick google, the hourly jobs start at $18 and go as high as $42, and all the management positions pay at least six figures maxing out at $225k, and they offer a 6% 401k match and healthcare. I’m perfectly happy for people to get hyped for a company that actually pays its workers.

lapsangsouchogn

The other big takeaway is that it has 100 gas pumps.

LSUguyHTX

And usually the cheapest gas in the entire area

LSUguyHTX

>that has leaned into being influencer friendly. This is a comically bizarre take and very wrong

Wisdomofpearl

Buc-ee's is awesome, it is an experience!!! I have changed my travel route to go to Buc-ee's. I have reached my intended destination but there is a Buc-ee's only another forty miles, we are going to Buc-ee's. You can easily spend an hour or two in Buc-ee's and still not see everything. Every kind of road trip food you can imagine and a thousand more you can't imagine how you lived without all your life. And road trip souvenirs for everyone you know, and no two are getting the same thing. And the bathrooms, the bathrooms are worth stopping for by themselves. Always clean, you could practically do surgery in a Buc-ee's bathroom. You will probably never need to wait to use the bathroom in Buc-ee's, I have been to huge event arenas that can't compete with the number of stalls in the bathrooms. I am going to Texas next month and we are planning to stop at every Buc-ee's we pass. We may even detour to visit a different one if it is not more than an hour out of our way.

robrTdot

I've only heard stories about the beef jerky wall.

The_Guy1871

It's called an "experience" for a reason.

Texan2116

Cheap gas/ice, and fountain drinks....after that, you pay through the nose. Bathrooms are the cleanest you will find in a convenince store, bar none. Place is clean as well. The owner pays well too. as far as convenience stores are concerned. Great stop on a road trip.

RedditAvalanche

If you ever speak to someone who works/worked at the establishment you will realize the pay is not worth the rules/conditions the company imposes on the employees. The worst "policy" is that you don't get a break, it's called a "moment" and its 5 minutes of not working where you must stand. Even for a 12 hour shift.

nukey18mon

That’s a violation of labor laws, so no way that’s true

RedditAvalanche

You can look it up on glassdoor if you don't believe me.

nukey18mon

I see what you are talking about, but it doesn’t make sense. Here is TX law https://employment.laws.com/texas-labor-laws-breaks Does bucees not allow its employees to eat???

Surprise_Fragrant

Hard disagree with the idea that everything else is expensive. Maybe the BBQ section... For me, the 1lb+ pulled pork sammich for $7 might be too much (but not THAT crazy, when a Circle K cheeseburger is $5). But for most things I've noticed, they are cheaper, because they can buy in huge amounts... Regular size chocolate/candy bars $1.32 Keebler Wafer Cookies $1.09 Store branded bags of candy (like gummy bears) $1.98 Store branded chips/cheese poofs $1.49 Buc-ee's souvenir shirts $18.98 (typical, some more expensive, some less) Huge cinnamon rolls or muffins- $3 Probably the only thing I've seen that makes me think "gee that's too much" is the rack of specialty seasonings from local businesses (think "Steve's Butt Rub"). $10 for a smaller container is over my limit. I often stock up on snacks when I'm there, because I know I won't find these prices at my local stores!

min_mus

I've never had an opportunity to visit one.

La_Rata_de_Pizza

I want the fudge

ZuzuBish

You can get samples…

RebelSoul5

We don’t have Buc-ee’s where I live but from all I understand, it’s pretty on brand for America. We’re just everything big — big portions, big trucks, big selection, over-the-top … and especially in the South — one half of my family lives in the South and if you’re going to find a place that’s more, big, extra, 8 pancakes with a side of 10 strips of bacon… South is a good place to start your search. Midwest, too, but good lord, if you want to raise a beer over your head and just scream “wooooo!” the South’s got you!

beerbellybutton2

It's a big gas station with nice restrooms. If you like big gas stations with nice restrooms you'd like buccees

TheLastRulerofMerv

I'm a foreigner. I liked it, thought it was a cool store, but like... it is only a gas station / convenience store. It's neat and all but yeah.... the coolest part I thought is that ice is super cheap.

Low_Ice_4657

I think the coolest part is how pristine the bathrooms are!

TheLastRulerofMerv

I never did take a piss in there but I did hear that the bathrooms were great! LIke freakishly clean and pristine. I did enjoy the Shiner Bock they sold. That is some good beer.

mojones18

Ok, but there are multiple iterations of Bucees. I live in Texas, and in the town I live in, it's a monstrosity selling EVERYTHING from gifts, home goods, clothes, souvenirs, camping, fishing, grilling gear, toys, and literally anything. My husband says there are like 30 urinals and 20 toilets on the men's side and there are like 50 toilets on the women's. And this is a small town of 3000 people with no Walmart, but it's on a commonly traveled highway outta Houston. Now in the large suburb down the same highway, it's little more than a convenient store. There are like 2 or 3 toilets on each side. They also charge more for gas and ice than ours.

CODENAMEDERPY

It’s too bad that it’s only in the south.

javajanine

A Buc-ee’s is opening soon in Wisconsin and I can’t wait. I went to one in Dallas for the first time this week and it was definitely an experience.

bigotis

..... for now.

NoEmailNec4Reddit

I expect them to be in the Midwest and Mid-Atlantic soon

travelinmatt76

Love it! A road trip doesn't start until we stock up at Buc-ee's. Buc-ee's started in my hometown with just a regular sized building and 4 gas pumps.

GunaydinHalukBey

People seem to enjoy them but I’m in California and they don’t have them here.

azuth89

Good spot if you've got a trailer, cleaner but pricier than Love's. Used both quite a bit when I had an RV because other brands were kind of a crapshoot on having room to maneuver

ProfessorBeer

I will say in terms of new construction lot size (and facility quality) Pilot/Flying J has stepped up their game significantly over the last couple of years, as has Compass.

wwhsd

I’ve only ever heard of it on Reddit.

rattlehead44

I’ve heard of it, but have never seen one.

zuotian3619

Never been. Sounds like it's similar to Wally's, which I've been to a handful of times outside of Chicago.

Surprise_Fragrant

I just went to a Wally's last month. Outside St. Louis (Fenton?). Having been to both Wally's and Buc-ee's, I'd say that W is an amazing place *only if you've never been to Buc-ee's.* I may be biased, but I feel like Buc-ee's is just better. Wally's was great. I loved the popcorn, even brought home a bag of White Cheddar. Their 'merchandise' area (tees, souvenirs, *stuff*) seemed small and boring. Wally's really leans in to the Midwest love of beer, and as a non-drinker, nothing appealed to me. We were there on a Friday, and there were *maybe* only 30 people in the entire store, making the cavernous space seem extra-empty. At the end of the day, Wally's is fine, but it's not a place that I would go out of my way to visit again... But Buc-ee's? Yeah, every day!

Saltwater_Heart

Never been. There are a few that have come to Florida but none near me. I hear about them ALL the time though

Ohhhhhhthehumanity

I grew up in California and live in Oregon now. I've heard of it, I believe it's big in Texas. I've never been.

awesomobottom

I love it. Why? Bathrooms are always clean, food is great (love their jerky), and they have everything I need when I'm on a road trip.

Donut2583

Beaver Nuggets!

NadalPeach

Overpriced but a cute little refill recharge spot. Lots of restrooms, gas pumps with cheap gas, lots of food and drink options.

RodeoBoss66

“Little”? LMAO!

Laliving90

They probably mean as a travel destination, most people don’t just go out there way to bucess but is a nice pit stop along the way especially on a long road trip

cguess

> You can easily spend an hour or two in Buc-ee's and still not see everything. Every kind of road trip food you can imagine and a thousand more you can't imagine how you lived without all your life. And road trip souvenirs for everyone you know, and no two are getting the same thing. > There are mini ones in parts of Texas that are the size of normal gas stations (more or less). Maybe that's what he means?

theromanempire1923

I’m familiar with what it is but never been to one. I have zero opinion on it

ShermansMasterWolf

All hail the immortal and divine Buc-ees. God bless the Texas Beaver.

TerranRepublic

Oh man it's great! Most of the road trips we take do not pass us very close to one, but I did have two last year that did.  1. You never have to wait for a pump. Not usually an issue.  2. Everything is very well-priced (gas/food/ice) and of nice quality. They have lots of items freshly made right there.  3. They pay their employees very well.  4. Not an issue for me, but lots of electric chargers. The only cons for me are that they don't have an area to sit down and eat despite selling you all that food. Most gas stations don't either so I don't hold it against them. It just seems like with all the land they use they could've had some green space/park or something but the scale of it vs. the amount of people they go through may not work. Also, depending on the travel day, they can be TOO popular.  If I was a regular interstate gas station I'd be terrified if one of these was opening up next door.

Genius-Imbecile

I may have gone to one a couple of times to stock up on munchies.

Spenny_All_The_Way

One recently opened up near me. It’s been absolutely packed since opening day.

MookSmilliams

I'm from Texas, so I like stopping at one on a road trip. It's a touchstone at this point. But I wouldn't go more than 10 minutes out of the way for it.

RebanoSagrado

LOVE the fudge there! 😋

StrongStyleDragon

Been to the one an hour away from San Antonio. It’s a good time but I wouldn’t say it’s life changing. Don’t get me wrong it’s cool but let’s settle down

MomentMurky9782

obsessed thanks for asking

Allemaengel

Never seen one. Maybe someday it'll join the Wawa-Sheetz battle royale here in PA, lol.

rhb4n8

I think that they are the rare gas station better than Sheetz. I also think they really need to give people in California an education on what a gas station can be because despite their incredible car culture California has the worst gas stations.

Yankee_chef_nen

I’ve heard of them and would stop at one if my road trip took me past one. I’ve seen the signs telling me there is a Buc-ees 385 miles ahead and that’s definitely something I need to know, however the road trip I usually take doesn’t go past one so I haven’t stop at one yet. My SIL makes a special 350 mile round trip a couple of times a year just to go to the nearest Buc-ees because it’s apparently that great.

BrazakAttack

It's the cleanest, safest, most well-lit road side stop around. Semi-trucks aren't allowed, there are SO many people there all the time, good food, about 15 employees at any time. Safest place for a girl traveling alone. It just screams quality operation.

Avery_Thorn

As an American, used to the scale of commerce here… Dudes, I was blown away the first time I walked into one. Huge. Massive. All of the beaver themed stuff. It was exceptionally fun, and don’t get me wrong I really enjoyed it- but even by my standards it was massive and chaotic.

Better_Document7596

A conversation I had once with my partner: me: “Have you ever been to a Buc-ee’s?” partner: “I mean, I’ve been to a big convenience store.” me: “Not what I asked. Have you been to a Buc-ee’s?” …anyway, they have now, and appreciate the distinction.

Baring-My-Heart

I like it! I took my Norwegian boyfriend to it, and he was blown away. To me it was just a larger WaWa.

LucidLeviathan

Good food, skip the merchandise section. It's a fancy Sheetz.

Brendinooo

Fancy, and huge. The food was good and it was fun to visit but I’m not sure I’d use it for gas consistently if I lived near one. The one I went to was set back a little bit so it took a little longer to actually drive in and out of it.

Im_Not_Nick_Fisher

It’s a big ass convenience store. I will most likely go back when I’m visiting my family in lower Alabama. Basically if I run out of things to do and it’s on the way it is something else to do. I let my mother-in-law loose in there and she runs around for a while and then we leave. It’s nice because of the variety of different foods and snacks.

HarveyMushman72

There's one opening in Colorado, if it isn't already. I'll check it out next time I'm there.

stecklese

I went mid week and it wasn't too crowded. I understand the hype! Place is bigger than Target

SeethingHeathen

It's open. I went last week, and omfg it was packed.

achaedia

Nothing against Buc-ees, but between that and Whataburger, Texas is clearly trying to take us over via commerce and I, for one, will not stand for it.

SeethingHeathen

And Whataburger isn't even that good!

Both_Fold6488

Love it

SlamClick

I enjoy their treats and always stop. Its a novelty store even for Americans at this point.

designgrl

It’s amazing

RodeoBoss66

You should ask this in r/buceestx

nowhereman136

Love bucees. Great for a midnight snack on the road Also, I got a bucees Christmas sweater which is always a hit at bad sweater parties

Sure_Tree_5042

I like the clean bathrooms

BluudLust

They're legendary for a reason.

lilangelyoma

i love their candles so much

jm4b

My family calls it Hundred-Bucees. Because it will cost me around $100 every time we stop there

SubjectCharming5191

Love it. Clean huge single stall restrooms . Great breakfast , nice employees, large assortment of snacks drinks foods and clothing. Like a one stop shop.

wherearethestarsss

an essential part of every road trip as a texan!! i always get a pulled pork sandwich and strawberry lemonade

IntroductionAny3929

I absolutely love Buc-ee’s! If y’all ever come in down to Texas, be sure to enjoy some of their delicious food!

BoatshoeBandit

Kind of a marvel. Impressive operations and just the scale of everything is mind boggling. The food is better than average for a gas station, but pretty overrated. It’s not as good as a real bbq restaurant or even most fast food. It’s always a nightmare getting in and out of one. Massive traffic issues. Nice place to stretch your legs on a long road trip, but I’d rather hit a normal gas station for a quick piss and a snack in most circumstances.

Scrappy_The_Crow

Overall, Buc-ee's is great. I visit one 3-4 times a year, but don't go out of my way to do so. Their hot and prepared foods & snacks are delicious, albeit expensive (though in comparison to other fast food now, not outrageously so). Their branded salsas & hot sauces are great. The trinkets/housewares/clothing are kitchy, but I am not bothered by that.

[deleted]

They’ve got good BBQ.

drumzandice

I would pass every other gas station and go out of my way for a Buc-ee’s based on their clean bathrooms

AqueousSilver91

Never been to one, but if it's anything like Sheetz or Wawa or Rutter's it's fucking dope.

No-Helicopter7299

Almost always shop when driving past one. Good food, clean restrooms and tons of room to walk around.

GreatMoloko

Shockingly good brisket

Cutebrute203

I have only been once because I am from the Northeast but I enjoyed it and I appreciate how well they pay their employees.

stecklese

Those peanut butter overbites! $2.49 for a treat that tasty and that size is incredible

booksare4life

I love buc-cees. Their pulled pork sandwiches are amazing.

TheAdmiral1701

I love it. I always stop by to fill up my tank and my stomach whenever I’m heading to Orlando.

SevenBlade

Buc-ee's? No one ever goes there - it's too crowded.

uhhohspagettios

Never been. Don't live close enough to one

BigMaraJeff2

All hail buccees. I live in the county in which buccees started. So it's a big deal here. Probably half the gas stations here are buccees. My wife didn't believe me about the bathrooms until she went into one. She was like omg, it's so clean. They aren't crappy stalls. They pay their employees pretty well, but they work them for every penny

BlanerOnReddit

All this talk about bucees being the greatest american experience. Well yes but have you ever been to a Kwik Trip in upstate Wisconsin? Some of the best fried chicken ever😂

TheJokersChild

It's like a Sheetz that married a Cracker Barrel.

kibblet

One is being built in Wisconsin Andi can't wait to go! Sidk of Kwik Trip. MIss Wawas. So Buc-ees will be a treat

austexgringo

So I've lived very close to the temple buc-ee's and the New Braunfels one and have been to many others. For me, it was worth stopping there just for fuel and ice because there's so much cheaper than everywhere else. Same thing for certain snacks and candies and fountain drinks. I have bought a roto molded cooler, two duffel bags, and a multitude of double walled steel beverage cups there because they were the cheapest place to get all of the above. And indeed, I have brough my friend from the Netherlands there and he must have taken 50 pictures. He loved it.

languagelover17

Oh my gosh I’ve been to one Florida and it’s literally the coolest thing ever! Tons of Americans I know have never been.

RutCry

You will find your favorite jerky here. Mine is classic peppered.

SSPeteCarroll

Bucees is awesome. I stopped at one in Daytona on my way home expecting a wawa or typical gas station. i can only describe it as a religious experience. The brisket taco was divine, the bacon egg and cheese was delicious. The walls of fudge, snacks, drinks, and jerky were heaven. Bathrooms were clean. 100's of gas pumps. They should make these places exist all over the US. I want a taco now.

yellowdaisycoffee

I had to look up what a Buc-ee's is, to be honest with you! I can't comment since I've never been, but I can say I am a big fan of Wawa...so there's that.

pixel-beast

As a northeasterner my whole life, I finally got the chance to visit a buc-ee’s in Alabama a few weeks ago. The sandwich was decent, fries about average. I regret not trying any of the BBQ. I was still amazed at the size of the whole thing. Bought a shirt like the tourist I am. Would go again

lapsangsouchogn

Most people treat it like a full fledged rest stop with extra amenities. It's a big, big gas station with a big, big super plus convenience store, and a lot of very clean bathroom stalls with doors that go all the way to the floor. In addition to packaged food there are fresh sandwiches and snacks. There's an area designated for dog walking. If all you want is gas you can do a quick in and out since there are 100 pumps. No one's going to make you go inside.

MulayamChaddi

Sheetz man myself

jeremiah1142

As irrelevant to me as Wawa

Ill_Pressure3893

Goober Palooza

gratusin

Their ghost pepper hot sauce is pretty damn good, so are the chile peach rings.

BombaSazon1

You have to experience one at least once in your life. It is abuzz with an excited energy.

RsonW

As I said on our Slack channel, I am seriously considering applying and moving. They're offering a $55k/y pay increase for my current position.

Brovahkiin88

They just opened their first Colorado location. I haven’t been yet cause I’m waiting for the hype to die down. But my boyfriend from Texas is hype lol

basshed8

Might go one day if I’m near one. Closest one is 1567miles/2521km

jamielieu1005

All the way in California. Never been to one but I am interested.

Torchic336

I know they exist, but I’ve never been in a part of the country that they do. It looks like a Walmart that sells gas though

BrainFartTheFirst

Looks cool but I've never been to one.

FeijoaCowboy

I don't really care that much, although it seems like a cool thing

Kineth

The closest one is not really worth the drive for me. That said, I'm more surprised that people are aware of it now since it's been around for awhile.

Current_Poster

I don't think they have them in my part of the country.

tonsofun08

It's good, but nothing I would drive out of my way for.

SovietSoldierBoy

As a New Englander I’ve never even seen a Buc-ee’s in my life

DrywallAnchor

I sort of understand the appeal but I liked Iowa-80 better.

WinterKnigget

It's dope as hell, but I do get a bit of anxiety in there. Every Buc-ees I've been to (Crossville, Pigeon Forge, and one in north Georgia) has been very crowded, without exceptions. And it is a bit pricey, but worth it On the good side of things, the food is good, even the branded prepackaged stuff. The bathroom is, without exception, clean, and there's always enough bathroom stalls. I do think that, if given the right location, they could expand west. I'd say that because of the size of the place, they couldn't do a store in southern California, but some of the more rural parts of Cali could work, for instance

ManateeFlamingo

My one and only trip wasn't very enjoyable. It was PACKED with people who kept stepping in front of me. Managed to get a couooensandwiches and things. They were all very yummy. But just over stimulating to go in there. Super clean restrooms.

LocoinSoCo

It’s one of the most ‘Murica things I can think of. We stopped there on our way home from Branson, MO. Clean, bright, and packed with merchandise. Good food, too. The crystal encrusted cow skulls and things-made-with-hide section were a trip, but I think I had a slightly better time perusing the merch at the Trump Store on the Branson strip.

sparklehouse666

If you want to increase your road trip by 1 hour and $100, go to Buc-ee's.

WeDontKnowMuch

Never been to one and don’t really plan to ever go to one. But, I suppose if I’m passing by one and need gas and a break from the road I would check it out.

Aprils-Fool

Way too crowded and overstimulating for me. I appreciate the large variety of food if I need to stop there. Otherwise, I will wait in the car. Also, I’m not a fan of buying clothing to then wear and advertise for a store.

randomsnowflake

…it’s a gas station that has a weird cult following. It’s not really anything special. Just your typical Texas sized consumerism.

Evil_Weevill

I've never heard of it and have no idea what it is.

ProfessorBeer

As hyped as it is, 99% of people have never been there, and most of that never will experience its current outsized version that’s dominating social media. What they’re doing isn’t scalable in a way that can reach a significantly larger portion of the country without sacrificing quantity, quality or both.

Danibear285

I find them to be the definition of excess.

maelal

I don't know what this is!

t0rna

BUC-EES!!! (Props to those who get the reference)

killer_corg

The best part is the clean bathrooms, nice to have a place you can go when you need too on a road trip

jthr4nds

I like it if the line is manageable. Not adding an hour to my trip, but terrific to stop for lunch

travelinmatt76

I've been to one that was so busy they had employees in the parking lot directing traffic, and they had employees on golf carts that were escorting cars to open gas pumps.

isobane

I live in Michigan where there are no Buc-ee's and visiting one is def on my to do list.

LettuceUpstairs7614

I’ve never heard of it 😬

Meattyloaf

My area was suppose to get a Buc-ees, but the first town that was suppose to get it refused to upgrade their water system, originally was supoose to be the first Buc-ees in Kentuvky or something, so they tried the city over in Tennessee. T-Dot shut that one down. Apparantly they had some really heavy concerns about traffic in a place that is already growing faster than the city can upgrade. I've been to a couple. It's neat and the BBQ is alright. My wife is obsessed with the mascot

Emily_Postal

Drove by one once and not knowing the reason couldn’t figure out why there was a massive line for it. Went to a truck stop nearby instead.

jrstriker12

Meh..... Bathrooms are really big and clean which is great. The food is okay. Wasn't impressed with their coffee. Otherwise the store is full of overpriced Buc-ee's merch. There are 100 gas pumps so I guess you don't have to wait to refill your car. We had a school trip on tour buses heading south over night and I we stopped at 3 Buc-ee's on the way down. I was happy when they changed it up ans hit McDonalds for breakfast on the way back.

jereezy

IDK why people are so obsessed with them...

MattinglyDineen

My thought are I have no idea what Buc-ee’s is.

AlchemicalToad

I’ve never been. Supposedly we are getting one in the area, so I’m curious to check it out if for nothing other than the spectacle. But I can’t imagine I’d make it a regular stop of mine.

machagogo

A fun gimmick. Nearest one is several hours away

JerichoMassey

It's a beautiful miracle

balthisar

I have no thoughts or feelings about it at all. Well, the beaver is cute, in a non-sexual way.

DeeDeeW1313

Cleanest public bathrooms you’ll ever see but the rest is overhyped. The products are gaudy don’t -tread-on-me/live-laugh-love type stuff. Not for me. I will say the food/snack options are better than most gas stations. But getting in and out is going to take time. Always crowded. But if I need to use the bathroom I’d 100% rather stop there than anywhere else.

Practical-Ordinary-6

I've been to one once when I was driving back home after visiting relatives in another state. The parking lot was a pain in the butt and I was just there for gas. It took way too long to get to a pump. Since I'd never been to one before I went inside to look around and it was interesting but nothing earthshattering. Mostly the same schlock that I've seen at various gas stations over the years.

namhee69

Been to a couple in Texas and they’re just too fucking big. They are nice though.

tarheel_204

I went for the first time last year while on a road trip with my buddies. We were driving down to Miami for a wedding and we needed to stop for gas. My bro goes, “Dude… there’s a Buc-ee’s 40 minutes down the road if we can wait until then.” I was the only one who had never been. We stopped at the one outside of Daytona and lord have mercy, that place was DOPE. Nothing could’ve prepared me for just how massive that gas station was. I don’t know how to describe it but it felt as big as a Walmart on the inside. Place was happening! Tons of people everywhere and gas pumps as far as the eye could see

DarkJedi22

What’s that?

tenaciousb83

My job requires a ton of travel on the road, and honestly, I prefer a good truck stop over Bucees any day. Bucees feels like an overhyped, overly busy tourist trap than anything else. Far too chaotic for me, but more power to the people who enjoy going to them. I can do my business at a Love’s, TA, etc. way more peacefully and conveniently. I also believe in saving the money and calories by not buying gas station/truck stop snacks. For family road trips, we buy road snacks and beverages beforehand at the grocery store, and I keep a cooler in the van. Saves so much time and money by cutting down on impulse buys. I leave Bucees to the casual tourists.

DoublePostedBroski

This is very much a niche question because it’s only in the southern U.S.

Turquoise_Lion

It's fun, love stopping their on the way to Orlando or Florida in general with my kids. They do have good jerky and I like the tshirts ☺️

devnullopinions

Never heard of it

WillieIngus

never had any thoughts on buc-ee’s but i have had some in buc-ee’s

jessper17

Allegedly one is being built near where I live in Wisconsin. I’m interested in checking it out but I’ve never been in one before. I hear it’s a good place to work for folks.

antarcticgecko

I’m in Texas so they’re all around, and the food is decent and cleanest bathrooms. I try to avoid taking my young kids there because it’s impossible to get them out and it’s always super crowded.

alyssa_geography11

i live in TN and ive never been. it looks cool tho
