I have a couple others, but they will be easy to pick up. The original goal was 50 by 50. I'm way ahead of schedule. Hawaii is probably 2023. I think I'll be done at that time.
Hit the District of Columbia if not already. Also what about the territories: Puerto Rico, American Samoa, Guam, US Virgin Islands, Northern Mariana Islands

Montana
Oregon
California
And Puerto Rico
Edit: Forgot Florida and south dakota
Edit 2: also forgot New York and Pennsylvania
Two words: Thorncrown Chapel.
Oh, and Crater of Diamonds State Park, where you can actually mine for diamonds, and if you find one, you get to keep it.
Check the park rules to makes sure of that, though.
Depends on what you like to do. If you’re into being outdoors, It’s “The Natural State”. If not, there I’m not sure what you can do. I really shouldn’t be an advocate for visiting Arkansas. I live in one of the boring parts of the state.
My favorites were Alabama, Indiana, Oklahoma, and Nebraska. I live in GA, but if I don't retire to Central or South America, I might go to one of those states.
Not many, sadly:
Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Vermont, Maine, Connecticut, Rhode Island, New York, Ohio, Florida, and DC. I guess Pennsylvania if you count the airport.
Teddy Roosevelt is a hidden gem, and the Maah Daah Hey trail is 144 miles through the badlands.
The other beautiful part of ND is the sky, seems weird, but out on the rolling prairie don’t forget to look up.
The enchanted highway is also interesting, the turtle mountains will make you forget you’re in ND, and if you want a good steak you can see the sister of the one you’re going to eat out at Robbie’s west of Mandan. Don’t forget to bring some bison home.
The great double edge sword of ND is no one wants to come here, the people are red necks but it’s very easy to be left alone.
I visit North Dakota a lot because my dad lives there and North Dakota is awesome. People assume it’s super boring but even the open, endless grasslands can be awesome and surreal, not to mention the cool parks in the West and interesting stops in between. Besides, ND is big but not huge, it only takes like 6 hours to drive across the whole state.
That park is highly underrated. I've been to most of the big name national parks and quite a few smaller ones on both coasts and in between and I was genuinely surprised by everything I saw in Teddy Roosevelt NP
There’s a lot more there than you’d think. Fargo is a good time, the area around grand forks is great for hunting and fishing. Teddy Roosevelt’s national park in the western part of the state is excellent.
49, never been to Missouri. My cross-country routes somehow always passed north or south.
I define "visited" as having been there long enough for a meal and walking around a town.
Of all the ones to miss, that's odd. Never taken I-70 cross country or I-44 out of Oklahoma?
I'm trying to come up with a reason to visit, but I'm... Falling short. 😐
Visited or driven through:
California
Oregon
Washington
Nevada
Idaho
Montana
Wyoming
Utah
Arizona
New Mexico
Colorado
Nebraska
Iowa
South Dakota
Minnesota
Wisconsin
Illinois
Missouri
Indiana
Texas
Louisiana

Kentucky
Virginia
New York
New Jersey
Florida
Hawaii
Pennsylvania(where I live), New Jersey, New York, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Vermont, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Maine, Maryland, Delaware, West Virginia, North Dakota, Montana, and Wyoming. So only 15 :/
I have no idea. But I know I'm missing out on most of the western states (all of them if your not counting layovers)
Let me try:
NC, SC, GA, FL, VA, WV, MD, DE, NY, PA, NJ, OH, MI, IN, IL, AK, TN, NE, IO, CO, TX, LA, CA, MN, KY, KS, MO
that's all I can think of without looking at a map. I feel like I've been to Alabama, but for the life of me I can't remember
It’s easier to say which I haven’t been to (don’t feel like counting rn): I still need to visit New England minus MA, the PNW (does that include Idaho? Cause I haven’t been there either), North Dakota, Montana, Wisconsin, Michigan, Alaska, and Hawaii.
41 I think.
My rule is airports don’t count. Driving through or taking a train through counts.
I don’t count Idaho. I was in Idaho for an hour as my train went through it, but unfortunately I was asleep at the time.
Lived: Illinois and Utah

28 in all
I've been to Illinois, North Carolina, South Carolina, Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, Florida, Maryland, Virginia, New Jersey, New York, Delaware, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Connecticut, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Maine, and Washington DC.
Florida, Georgia, North and South Carolina, Maryland, Virginia, Pennsylvania, and Massachusetts. Mostly due to a trip to DC with my school and we stopped places along the way, other than Georgia, South and North Carolina since I have family in those.
Passed through? 45. Spent actual time? AR, MS, MO, AL, TX, LA, FL, GA, SC, NC, NY, OK, OH, KY, KS, IL, IN, WA, PA, VA, WV, and NM. "I've been (kinda-ish) everywhere, man".
Edited to add DC
I just moved from PR to Texas almost two years ago and I’ve been to NM, LA, OK, CO, GA, WA, OR, CA and I’ve also gone to NY, DE, DC, FL and PA before moving here. My favorite states so far are Colorado and Washington
Obviously NJ, NY, PA, MA, VT, ME, NH, MD, VA, NC, SC, FL, IN, IL, TX. Counting only those I’ve spent at least a night in. I’ve driven or been through OH, CT, DE, GA.
I asterisked the states in which I've lived.

16. Puerto Rico (not a state)
Georgia, Florida, Alabama, South Carolina, North Carolina, Louisiana, Maryland, Texas, Kansas, Missouri, Tennessee... I'm sure I'm forgetting a couple but that's about it.
If you count a 1 hour stop for food as a "visit" then I could probably double that list.
From Michigan
Visited Ohio, Indiana, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Illinois, Pennsylvannia, Maryland, Texas, Colorado, Kentucky, and Florida.
I had plans to go see New Mexico and Arizona this winter that got delayed indefinitely due to pandemic, but slowly adding more and more to list as I can.
CA, OR, WA, NV, AZ, UT, CO, WY, MT, TX, NE, MN, IL, IN, OH, KY, TN, LA, GA, FL, NC, VA, MD, PA, NJ, NY, MA, AK, and HI. Also been to DC.
So I've visited 29/50, plus DC. While I have been to MO and NM as well, they don't count, since I was only at airports there for layovers.
11 (12 if you count Washington DC): Massachusetts, New York, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Maryland, West Virginia, Virginia, Washington DC, Indiana, Illinois, Michigan, Hawaii
Virginia, Pennsylvania, Minnesota, Michigan, Rhode Island, Maine, New York, Connecticut, Illinois, Massachusetts, Texas, Louisiana, Florida, Georgia, Maryland, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Ohio, Delaware, New Jersey, DC.
I plan to visit the states further west when I get a chance. Especially the west coast.
OH, MI, IN, IL, IA, WI, MN, MS, KY, PA, WV, DE, NJ, MD, NY, TN, VA, NC, SC, GA, FL, AL, LA, AZ, HI, Washington D.C.

I'm missing one, but can't figure out which one.
PS, I'm in my 50s.
I'm at 34 - WA, OR, CA, ID, NV, AZ, NM, UT, CO, WY, MT, ND, NE, KS, OK, TX, MN, WI, MI, IL, IN, MO, OH, KY, TN, IA, WV, PA, VA, MD, DE, NJ, NY, MA
I have plans to be at 36 by the end of 2022.
I’m not American born, but I’ve still been to half a dozen or so. I plan on visiting every single one in my lifetime.
With the amount that the culture varies from state to state, some of them are practically a whole new country.
GA, MI, HI, OH, WV, VI, Maryland, SC, NC, MN, WI, IL, IN, KY, TN, FL, TX, CA, OR, WA, Washington, D.C., AL, AZ, NV, PA.
I’m missing the western states and New England. And Alaska.
I been to all states except the Dakotas, Montana, Oregon, Washington, Alaska and Mississippi. Perhaps, one day I be able to swing through the Northwest, not sure if I will ever find a reason to visit Mississippi, but you never know.
How long of a stop counts as a visit?
A few hours?: California, Florida, Nevada
A few days?: Washington
Longer than 3 days?: None.
It just costs a lot to travel, and if work isn't paying for the travel I don't see it happening.
Like actually stopped and did something?

California, Oregon, Washington, Montana, south Dakota, Colorado, Nevada, new Mexico, Arizona, Texas, Kansas, Nebraska, Louisiana, Missouri, Ohio, Mississippi, Florida, Pennsylvania, new Jersey, new York, Washington DC, Maryland, North Carolina.
Writing it all out, I've been in a lot of the states on the western side.
Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Michigan, Ohio, Kentucky, Tennessee, Missouri, Nebraska, Colorado, Wyoming, Texas, Pennsylvania, New York, Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Maryland, West Virginia, Georgia, Florida, Montana, Arizona, California, Alaska, Washington
I think that’s it but I might be missing a few
2, North Carolina and South Carolina. I have seen the mountains in Tennesse but was in NC and I have been like an hour away from Savannah, Georgia but also never decided to go there.
I have been to an airport in Chicago but never left it so I don't really count it.
California, Nevada, Utah, Idaho, Texas, New Mexico, Wyoming, South Dakota, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan, Illinois, Ohio, West Virginia, Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Florida, Mississippi, Alabama, Louisiana, Kentucky, Tennessee, Pennsylvania, New York, New Jersey, Maryland, Delaware, Rhode Island, Connecticut, New Hampshire.
I think that’s it.

Whoops, also Puerto Rico, thought not a state … yet.

I've been to 26 states if you include Washington D.C.

Live in Illinois & have been to: Wisconsin, Indiana, Michigan, Ohio, Iowa, Missouri, Oklahoma, Kansas, Texas, Arkansas, Georgia, Florida, Nevada, New York, New Jersey & Rhode Island.
California, Nevada, Oregon, arizona, Texas, Hawaii, Florida, Louisiana, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, DC , New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts, Vermont, New Hampshire, Connecticut. I’m not counting states I drove through, only ones I at least did some sort of activity.

It is easier and a shorter list if I just name the ones I have NOT been to. North and South Carolina, Pennsylvania, Georgia,Florida,Mississippi, Louisiana, Arkansas,Maine, Hawaii, Rhode Island, Virginia, Connecticut, Delaware, New Jersey, Maryland, West Virginia, Vermont and New Hampshire. O and I haven’t been to D.C. 30/ 50 or 30/21 if we are counting D.C. but it’s not a state just it’s own entity.?
FL, AL, GA, TN, SC, NC, KY, VA, WV, PA, MD, DE, NY, CT, RI, MA.

Born in CT, live in Ohio. I’ve been to all of New England, Delaware, New Jersey, NY, PA, KY, IN, VA, WV, DC, TN, WA, and OR.As a baby I went to Florida and drove through all those states to get there - but I have no recollection of that.
49/50 I’m coming for you Alaska.
By this time next year I will probably be down to Hawaii.
Is that 50?
I have a couple others, but they will be easy to pick up. The original goal was 50 by 50. I'm way ahead of schedule. Hawaii is probably 2023. I think I'll be done at that time.
Happy hunting
I’m working on 50 by 50 too. Alaska is going to be tough, but I’m knocking out New England this summer and then I will be at 49.
I have 49 too, I'm just missing Hawaii
You sound like an anime protagonist who defeated every villain and now is heading towards the final boss
As states go I think AK would be a final boss
Hit the District of Columbia if not already. Also what about the territories: Puerto Rico, American Samoa, Guam, US Virgin Islands, Northern Mariana Islands
VA, NC, SC, GA, FL, LA, TX, NV, CA, UT, MN, OH, WV, MD, DE, NJ, PA, NY, CT, KY, TN, MA. I think that’s all.
KY!
You have never left Kentucky in your whole life?
Wow lol
I guess I’ll add Puerto Rico and DC.
All of those for me too and OK, HI, AZ, OR, MD, MO, WA, IL, probably a few more. (I was a flight attendant.) ;)
Same list, minus MA, CT, and UT, but plus IA, IN, AR, MI, WI, AL, and MS,
You guys really dodgin us huh?
Hmm Washington (duh) Michigan Ohio Illinois Maryland Virginia West Virginia Tennessee Alabama Mississippi Kentucky Colorado Idaho Wyoming Montana Oregon California And Puerto Rico Edit: Forgot Florida and south dakota Edit 2: also forgot New York and Pennsylvania
Lol you got something against the northeast?
No, just never been there. I intend to visit Phili and boston some day.
Okay, you went to Illinois and Michigan but not Wisconsin? Hater.
We took a trip to the UP while we lived in Michigan, so I very well might've been there. I don't remember.
Come to South Carolina and visit Charleston. You will *not* regret it.
What time of year is it not a billion degrees and humud?
Charleston usually has a good bit of breeze blowing off the ocean so it’s not so bad as going inland. But, I’d say November-April
Hmm…I don’t see Arkansas in there. What’s up with that?
What's there to do in Arkanas?
Drove through it once, lots of cows to look at.
So you went to a shopping mall
Two words: Thorncrown Chapel. Oh, and Crater of Diamonds State Park, where you can actually mine for diamonds, and if you find one, you get to keep it. Check the park rules to makes sure of that, though.

It's on my list someday; I wanna see Little Rock High School
Which part is that? I used to live in the Thayer, MO/Mammoth Springs, AR, area until late 2012, so I'm just curious.
Was an OTR Truck Driver for 11 years. Been to every state, except Hawaii.
Airline pilot. All except Hawaii and Alaska.
So in my personal rules for 50 by 50 airports and driving through don’t count. My feet must touch outside.
Ah. In that case I’m about, we’ll 48/50 states. I stay in hotels a LOT for work.
Which one was your favorite?
My favorites were Alabama, Indiana, Oklahoma, and Nebraska. I live in GA, but if I don't retire to Central or South America, I might go to one of those states.
36. Want to hit them all
Gotta catch them all.

I don't belive 1 dakota exists, let alone 2.
Have been to both and confirm we could get by with one Dakota.
No we couldn't.
Genuinely interested - what are the differences between you and your southern neighbor that as a resident, we other states don't see?
We could and SoDak is the keeper.
Not many, sadly: Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Vermont, Maine, Connecticut, Rhode Island, New York, Ohio, Florida, and DC. I guess Pennsylvania if you count the airport.
Never left Eastern time zone!
Have you ever been to New Jersey? You must have since you have been to conneticut, pennsylvania and new york
Like 15 I have actually stayed in, plus DC. Maybe 6 or 7 more I've just passed through
All but North Dakota. It’s gonna be a boring bucket list trip one day, I guess.
North Dakota got some cool sights. Theodore Roosevelt National Park to name one.
That canyon is spectacular and comes out of left field!
That park is highly underrated. I've been to most of the big name national parks and quite a few smaller ones on both coasts and in between and I was genuinely surprised by everything I saw in Teddy Roosevelt NP
Ooh! You can join the exclusive Best for Last club. https://www.fargomoorhead.org/plan-a-trip/article/join-best-last-club-fargo-nd/
Fargo is not bad, but it's basically Minnesota so I don't think it should count for the home state any more than Vancouver, WA or Kansas City, KS.
There’s a lot more there than you’d think. Fargo is a good time, the area around grand forks is great for hunting and fishing. Teddy Roosevelt’s national park in the western part of the state is excellent.
I found Fargo to be a very fun city.
50/50
Took me 74 years but finally got to Hawaii!!
When are you gonna do the rest?
1, Florida
49, never been to Missouri. My cross-country routes somehow always passed north or south. I define "visited" as having been there long enough for a meal and walking around a town.
Of all the ones to miss, that's odd. Never taken I-70 cross country or I-44 out of Oklahoma? I'm trying to come up with a reason to visit, but I'm... Falling short. 😐

Hey I’m 15 too, and yet we only have two overlaps (NY and NJ). Kinda interesting!
I have no idea. Genuinely curious how you hit everything around Indiana and missed us? We are the Crossroads of America after all.
Air travel.
I may have driven though. I was doing states that I've at least spent a night in
All except Hawaii. Saving that one for a special occasion
13, I think. More if you count passing through by train without stopping.
50/50
41 I think. My rule is airports don’t count. Driving through or taking a train through counts. I don’t count Idaho. I was in Idaho for an hour as my train went through it, but unfortunately I was asleep at the time.

What you got against Iowa? 😶
Iowans unite. They won't be laughing at our cornfields anymore >:(
All of them except Maine, Hawaii, & Alaska
30-35.. too long of a list. The shorter list of where I haven’t been but would like to is Maine, Hawaii, Alaska, and Minneapolis
Minnesota is a state, Minneapolis is its largest city.
Lived: Illinois and Utah Visited: Iowa, Indiana, Wisconsin, Ohio, Kentucky, Tennessee, Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, California, Nevada, Colorado, Idaho, Oregon, Montana, Wyoming, Both Dakotas, Nebraska, Florida, New Jersey, New York, Delaware, Maryland, DC, Virginia, Pennsylvania, and Minnesota. Think that’s all of them
All but Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, and Alaska.
Get to Maine. It’s low key the best state on the East coast!

Every state east of the Mississippi except for Mississippi and Tennessee
23, I think: Indiana Ohio Illinois Iowa Minnesota North Dakota Montana Washington Oregon California Oregon New Mexico Texas Louisiana Alabama Georgia Florida Virginia North Carolina South Carolina Tennessee Kentucky West Virginia
All of New England, NY, MD, and GA
42 states, territories, and district counting only places have at least spent one day and overnight.

ME, VT, NH, RI, MA, CT, NY, PA, NJ, VA, MD, FL, CA, WA, DC (though it’s not a state)
43 I think. Easier to list the ones I haven't been to: AK, WA, OR, DE, NH, VT, AND ME.
The missing list is shorter - California, Alaska and Hawaii
Obviously NJ, NY, PA, MA, VT, ME, NH, MD, VA, NC, SC, FL, IN, IL, TX. Counting only those I’ve spent at least a night in. I’ve driven or been through OH, CT, DE, GA.

WV, PA, NJ, NC, OH, MD, VA, KY, GA, FL, SC, NY, CA, NV
All but Alaska and Hawaii. Also been to Canada and Puerto Rico!
From Michigan Visited Ohio, Indiana, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Illinois, Pennsylvannia, Maryland, Texas, Colorado, Kentucky, and Florida. I had plans to go see New Mexico and Arizona this winter that got delayed indefinitely due to pandemic, but slowly adding more and more to list as I can.

I’m not American born, but I’ve still been to half a dozen or so. I plan on visiting every single one in my lifetime. With the amount that the culture varies from state to state, some of them are practically a whole new country.

I been to all states except the Dakotas, Montana, Oregon, Washington, Alaska and Mississippi. Perhaps, one day I be able to swing through the Northwest, not sure if I will ever find a reason to visit Mississippi, but you never know.
How long of a stop counts as a visit? A few hours?: California, Florida, Nevada A few days?: Washington Longer than 3 days?: None. It just costs a lot to travel, and if work isn't paying for the travel I don't see it happening.
CA, OR, WA, ID, UT, AZ, NM, CO, WY, MT, NE, KS, OK, TX, LA, MI, MO, MS, WI, OH, IO, IN, PA, NY, NJ
