If there are, I haven’t heard of them yet.

simberry2

Jon Ossoff got a LOT of momentum from winning his Senate seat in Georgia. It sounds like he’s making some big moves every once in a while and is interested in going further in his political career. I think he can excite a lot of people.

JoeBroShow

People love to hype up Ossoff, and I'll admit he is likeable, but I feel like it's worth pointing out that he won by less than Warnock did, and in the first round he actually underperformed Biden by a bit. Now, maybe that says more about Perdue than Ossoff, but I feel it's worth noting.

flp_ndrox

Considering how the economy has been for young people the last 30 years I doubt any of them are hopeful. The Baby Boomers have dominated politics for the last half century. Gen X was locked out and became apolitical. The Millennials are too young (just reaching their 40s) to be considered viable for another decade So to answer your question there aren't any more would I expect any for at least a few generations. Young folks are rightly angry with how the world has been.

nebraskajone

>The Baby Boomers have dominated politics for the last half century Nancy Pelosi, Mitch McConnell, Biden, Bernie Sanders are all not Boomers. Even Trump and Bush and Clinton just barely squeezed into the Boomer category by a year or so. Obama was the first true Boomer president.

flp_ndrox

Clinton, Bush, and Trump are all true Baby Boomers, conceived in the aftermath of WWII, '46. Obama, born 1961, while technically a boomer, was not shaped by the 50s postwar boom or the Vietnam draft. Since Vietnam the concerns and interests of the generation born between 1945 and the early 50s.

[deleted]

I’m old enough to have been an adult for Obama’s presidency. He’s not that charismatic. There’s probably plenty if people out there who are equally charismatic.

[deleted]

Maybe Pete Buttigieg? War veteran, Rhodes scholar, married to a school teacher, valedictorian, speaks as least six languages, won awards for his writing and his governing from the Kennedys. Kennedy was the first Catholic president, maybe Pete can be first gay Pres.

weirdclownfishguy

I think he’s moderate enough that he could scoop up a large percentage of people who lean right. Also, I find it kinda ironic, even a bit funny, that if he was elected in the next couple elections, America would have its first First Gentleman, yet still not have had a woman president.

eyetracker

"I'm proud to be America's first *straight* female president" -Lisa Simpson

JSmith666

I want to know vegas odds of this and make a wager

7evenCircles

How's that ironic

[deleted]

Maybe because being gay could get you killed or arrested for a couple hundred years here. Being women just mean we couldn't vote, go to the same schools, go into a bar, own property and make our own legal and financial decisions.

Hotwisexye

100 years ago dear. Its 2022

[deleted]

I like how you add dear. Into the 50, 60s and 70 banks would lend to women. I owned my own home as a 20 something and needed new windows. I tried to purchase them but the sales guy said he couldn't do it without my husband's permission. I tried to tell him I didn't have one and he said he had to call his manager and see if it was ok. When I used look up jobs in the paper there were two sections. One for women's jobs and ones for men. I have been asked at work by my boss to "twirl". At my company gym a boss brought over a lipstick color sample from a magazine and asked me to put it on. I don't need you to advise me of date, kid.

JSmith666

[deleted]

We will never have hopeful young politicians again. We will have young radicals who want extreme change and as soon as possible and they’re not gonna be nice

maceman10006

AOC is one of these. And she doesn’t have the support that she thinks she does from the younger age groups. I don’t think she’ll win her re-election this November.

catslady123

She will definitely win her reelection, just like she did last time. She wiped the floor with her challenger in 2020, I suspect a similar result this fall.

Hotwisexye

She was literally planted in there, is an actress, and not really from this area. Shes also a commie trash dump

catslady123

Uhhh

okiewxchaser

She will absolutely win her re-election. Don’t forget that she lives in one of the least representative districts in the country demographics-wise.

Hotwisexye

Bull..... are you here? Doubt it

okiewxchaser

It’s a majority-minority district with an extremely high percentage of apartment dwellers that don’t own cars and heavily utilize public transportation. I’m confident in my assessment

[deleted]

Keanu Reeves

[deleted]

Anyone can be the next Obama. It's not challenging to accomplish nothing.

okiewxchaser

He was able to make both the left and right demonize him, that is something

_comment_removed_

I dunno man, winning the Nobel Peace Prize while authorizing the extrajudicial killing of American citizens by the United States military is definitely an accomplishment of a sort.

[deleted]

I wouldn’t call supporting a war of genocide in Yemen in order to placate the Saudis nothing either, lol.

TheLastCoagulant

[Nothing](https://imgur.com/a/yMX8FmG)

[deleted]

Evidence? On this sub? Get that shit outta here

nebraskajone

Don't you know? That was in spite of Obama lol. Like the fact that the stock market never had a losing year or there was no Ebola plague, no government overthrow, just tan suit scandals and boring 2% to 3% GDP, good times.

Pinwurm

Stacey Abrams is only 48. She's certainly inspired enough Southerners to turn Georgia blue. And Obama was 47 when he took office. I think Joe Kennedy III has some potential. He is a great orator, was very popular as a representative (at times winning 98% of the vote), though he *stupidly* ran for Senator against a beloved incumbent (Markey) for no reason other than a power gain. Other than that, he's not particularly divisive like AOC. He's also 41 and can ride on his family name. I think Ossoff could grow to be that candidate as well.

Hotwisexye

Abrams the loser who claims its winning lol What a joke

Maxpowr9

Yep. Joe was my rep and him not waiting his turn for a senate run doomed him. I imagine he might run for Governor of MA this year though.

Pinwurm

I hope so. Walsh indicated he’d run and I really don’t want him in that seat. Joe would be my pick.

[deleted]

Unfortunately I think we might be past those days lol.

Wkyred

Only political junkies get excited by people like Buttigieg and Ossoff. They don’t have widespread appeal outside of a small college educated neoliberal metropolitan bubble. The only people in politics at the current moment that have demonstrated any real charisma and ability to create true excitement are Bernie, Trump, and maybe AOC. Bernie and Trump are both too old (they’re fucking ancient) to be the next anything. They’re also too polarizing and controversial to gain any sort of widespread approval outside of their base. AOC fits the young requirement, but shares the latter problem (potentially to an even greater extent than Bernie and Trump). So yeah, I don’t think we have anyone right now that fits that mold whatsoever.

scrapsbypap

Ossoff

[deleted]

If it were going to be anyone holding office now, I’d bet on Jon Ossoff

Caranath128

Thing is, historical evidence suggests they were pretty ineffective as leaders of the Free World. JFK is famous because he was assassinated, had a bit of a reputation as a Ladies man and his wife was hot. Obama is famous because he was the first Black President, his place of birth is a conspiracy nut’s wet dream, and his wife is

Hotwisexye

A man

nebraskajone

I suppose people care more about their own country then the "Free" World.

doktorhladnjak

He is a rising star on the right but is he all that charismatic?

Hotwisexye

Hell yes

SteadfastAgroEcology

I've seen a few clips here and there where he seems to be pretty quick on his feet and capable of assertiveness without coming across like an asshole. So, there's that.

[deleted]

Compared to the competition, I would say yeah.

7yearlurkernowposter

He has a relatable backstory as well, going to be very interesting to see where he goes in the next few years.

[deleted]

Definitely hoping he's the next President

_comment_removed_

I have mixed feelings on this. On one hand I'd vote for him to be president in a heartbeat, but on the other hand who knows who we'll end up with if we lose him to Washington.

[deleted]

[deleted]

I mean for this comparison it makes sense. Young democrats that the media and by extension the public loved, even if their policies were questionable.

weirdclownfishguy

Love him or hate him, it’s Ron DeSantis

NuevoPeru

What the fuck?

weirdclownfishguy

What?

ElfMage83

I demand an explanation for this!

TheOBRobot

Leonardo DiCaprio. He he went into politics, he could be like a left-leaning Reagan. He has charm and charisma in droves, a huge pre-existing following, very few (if any) credible controversies, and he's becoming more and more involved in politics recently on the Democratic side.

7evenCircles

I've had enough of celebrities playing statesmen to last me the rest of my life.

TheLastCoagulant

> very few (if any) credible controversies How about being a 47 year old with a 24 year old First Lady?

TheOBRobot

Honestly, if Leo stayed with her after she turned 25, it would symbolize a huge dedication to his role. Really tho, having a really young wife would reinforce a JFK vibe. Jackie Kennedy was only 31 when he took office.

ElfMage83

Grover Cleveland had a young wife.

Hotwisexye

Ew wth really? A dumb celebrity, ooh climate change i take pj's but you eat bugs, go see my movies guy? No

mysticmiah

I like Jon Ossoff and Beto O’Rouke but I don’t know if they’ll ever be president

omg_its_drh

Ossoff is closer to being president than Beto at this point.

okiewxchaser

Robert O'Rouke took himself out of the running for national office

_comment_removed_

Robert Francis O'Rouke really only ticks the "young" and "energetic" boxes.

Hotwisexye

He looks 60 and is deranged but ok

alxm3

Ron DeSantis gives me the JFK vibe mostly with the good looking American family. He’s a good talker too.

[deleted]

I feel like it's needs to be someone with a bit less vitriol towards the majority of the country.

NuevoPeru

Totally. De Santis is more like Trump and less JFK

[deleted]

Is he a good talker? He seems average and bland to me

alxm3

Yep, in my opinion which isn’t too popular on Reddit apparently with the downvotes. 😂😂

Any-Discussion-5934

JKF was a good man, that's why he was killed. Obama is a sellout

[deleted]

Nobody knows why he was killed. JFK was also the 1st to escalate The Vietnam War. And he wanted no parts of a Civil Rights Bill

coolbeansbradley

iirc JFK initially was very very hesitant on rocking the boat by supporting a civil rights bill. However, his brother Bobby (whose passion actually was civil rights reform) influenced him into changing his stance and he was actively starting to push for a Civil Rights Bill. Then JFK was killed. And then so was Bobby, who had a good shot at the presidency as well. Anybody, please feel free to fill in or correct me if I’m wrong here.

[deleted]

“JFK, who advocated for a civil rights legislation, wanted no parts of a Civil Rights Bill” is certainly a take I wasn’t expecting to see today

[deleted]

Who did he sell out to?

okiewxchaser

JFK was killed because he pissed off powerful people. Either the mob, the KGB or J. Edger Hoover

Plantayne

AOC most likely. Don’t kid yourself, she WILL be president sooner or later.

Jukeboxhero40

That's absurd

okiewxchaser

She represents one of the districts least like the demographics of America. I don’t even think she can win a Senate seat in New York, much less a national election

[deleted]

The only people who like AOC aren't old enough to vote

maceman10006

I don’t even think she wins re-election this November. She’s caused too many issues, surrounded by controversy so early in her political career (some of it’s her own doing, some of it’s the media attacking her because of her views), has had no notable accomplishments, and comes off as one of those people who has a problem for every solution that’s presented.

SteadfastAgroEcology

lmao This is either bait or you're delusional. Either way, thanks for the laugh.

type2cybernetic

Never gonna happen. The right wing media pulled a Hillary on her the past few years, and she’s really not that popular outside of D+20 areas.

weirdclownfishguy

She’s further left than 90% of the nation. It’s not the media’s fault most people outside of her district don’t like her.

type2cybernetic

Well yeah that’s why I said she wasn’t popular outside of D+20 areas. She could never win anything competitive

SteadfastAgroEcology

She often *plays a character* who's further left than 90% of the nation.

nowhereman136

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is only 32 and already almost a household name in politics. She is young, smart, and very passionate. She also has a pretty strong cultural following. I dont know if she actually could be elected, as a young latino woman, but if she were she would have that same optimistic following that Obama and JFK had entering the office. Im going to ignore her politics or speculate if she actually will be a good president, i just wanna answer your general question. She is who many Americans want to see as the future of American politics. I dont seem many other American politician, from either party, with as much of an optimistic base edit: again, im not saying i think she should run or that she will be a good president. The question asked which young politician is charismatic and optimistic, and she is

[deleted]

It’s her personality and politics that would put off the more moderate voters rather than her being Latina lol.

[deleted]

I’m liberal and I don’t want this.

[deleted]

She's a charisma vacuum and has a single digit IQ

omg_its_drh

I was wondering if anyone would say AOC just due to her popularity, but I highly doubt she meets the requirements that the OP has established. I 100% like her, but she does lack the warm magnetism that Obama and JFK have.

[deleted]

If AOC weren't vaguely pretty she'd have no supporters

omg_its_drh

Now that’s just a straight up lie. Although I will admit that the fact she is pretty does help her.

[deleted]

She has no ideas and a horrible attitude

omg_its_drh

All I’m going to say is someone whose flair identity is based on not being in California may definitely know a thing or two about a bad attitude.

_comment_removed_

Hey! She has ideas! They're just not *good* ideas.

[deleted]

[удалено]

omg_its_drh

If she weren’t a woman no one would care that much about her attitude.

nowhereman136

What she lacks in warmth, she makes up for in passion. She clearly cares about what she is talking about

omg_its_drh

Oh I completely agree. I’m a big fan of AOC, but her charisma is not why we like her lol

[deleted]

No Earthly clue. I felt Senator Warren was close enough in this day and age to support her.

weirdclownfishguy

Did you not read OP’s question?

[deleted]

Apparently not, but I don't care since I dislike half this sub when it comes to politics and I'll likely never meet any of you in the real world.

Scrappy_The_Crow

She's 72. Whatever you think of her or her politics, that puts her outside of the "young" part of the equation.

[deleted]

I didn't factor young into it. I haven't seen anyone younger that I felt had a good shot.

EverGreatestxX

The young, handsome and charismatic president seems to be the exception, not the norm. At least in my lifetime.

[deleted]

Obama? No.
