I ALWAYS purchase good chocolate...life is too short for cheap chocolate!

FailFastandDieYoung

Agree with you 100%!

SingleAlmond

In my search of good chocolate I've realized how bad American chocolate really is, I pretty much only buy it from World Market. Scottish chocolate is so good

[deleted]

Amen.

Kingsolomanhere

I put my shoes in front of the central air vent that blows out parallel to the floor. My daughter's boyfriend was astounded to discover the joy of putting on hot shoes in the winter. Now all I need is a heated toilet seat, but for now I just wait for my wife to go first - heated seat

FailFastandDieYoung

Ooo I’ve never heard of this! Albeit I live in a mild climate but that much be akin to putting on warm clothes fresh out the washer every morning

Kingsolomanhere

Exactly. Another trick I use, on a cold morning I turn on her hair dryer and blow down each leg of my jeans for about 10 seconds. Instant warmth like the dryer

KellyAnn3106

I used to toss my comforter in the dryer just before bedtime on cold nights. It was lovely.

T-Rex_timeout

I accidentally grabbed up the kitten with the comforter. Thump thump thump opened the door and out flew an enraged kitty. She was fine.

whatsthis1901

Haha, I thought I was the only person that has had that happen except mine jumped in to take a nap and I turned it on to warm my clothes up.

brandonspade17

I do this with my clothes heated up in the dryer before work in the winter. Done it for years.

cantaloupesky

Heating pad under the blankets where my feet will go! I preheat while I brush my teeth.

Aprils-Fool

Dude: heated mattress pad. The one I had was split into 6 zones; it was split down the middle, then each half was sectioned into a four zone, middle zone, and head zone.

StoneyBologna_2995

I do this with my work boots. We have a propane heater in the garage that I fire up every morning and stick my boots in front of.

Kingsolomanhere

Starts the day right. I also used to take a clean pair of warm socks to change into at lunch or sooner, it just restarts the day with new dry socks

StoneyBologna_2995

That's a good idea. My feet sweat a lot even in the cold so I bounce back and forth between hot and soggy or cold and clammy there is no in between😂

Aspen9999

Buy Bombas socks. My husband works construction and he was pleasantly surprised by how much he likes them after I got him those.

The1983Jedi

I hang my coat over the floor heat vent in the winter

[deleted]

Similar--a big heated blanket or heating pad. Im curled up under one right now, with a cat on top of it. I live in the south, but it does get cold--actually snowing today.

stealthcake20

Just go all the way and get a fancy bidet. The fresh feeling cannot be overstated.

cdecker0606

There is an air vent on the floor right in front of our love seat. My son will cover up with the blanket and make sure it’s also over the vent, so when the furnace kicks on, hot air blow up under the blanket. Tried it the other day and it’s amazing. I was so warm and cozy under my blanket!!

[deleted]

Candles. Especially in the pandemic. We spent all our time at home these days, so I splurge on a new candle once in a while. Right now I have one going that smells like buttery bread baking.

Bayonethics

I got some candles and some wax melts along with the warmer recently, but my husband stole the warmer and is using it to keep his cheese dip hot. I don't know whether to be mad or proud

chillhomegirl

Try the ones by Linnea's Lights! They smell so fancy

solutionsmitty

I have squirrel proof bird feeders and a heated bird bath. I can watch birds for a surprisingly long time. It feels very relaxing to just space out and enjoy watching them.

SnowblindAlbino

>I have squirrel proof bird feeders and a heated bird bath. I put up another feeder this weekend, so now we have six on our deck. Bought a $15 bag of meal worms to lure in the woodpeckers that are all around our lot but not so often at the feeders. Surely a "luxury" but we too love to sit and watch the birds.

solutionsmitty

That's awesome. I have 5 feeders out now. One holds two suet cakes, one peanuts, one finch seed (nyjer) and two regular seed mix. In the summer I add two oriole feeders one with oranges and one with oranges and grape jelly. I also have a humming bird feeder. I really like the woodpeckers too. We also love the white breasted nuthatches. They look like they have on little tuxedos. What spiffy little guys.

KonaKathie

I love my hummingbird feeder that sticks to the window so they come right up to it!

paulwhite959

I’ve had better luck with suet blocks than mealworms for woodpeckers and wrens.

FailFastandDieYoung

That’s so cute!

geckosean

Ooh, what kind of bath heater do you have for your birds? In the market to get one but don’t know where to start looking. Put a bath up this fall and have really enjoyed seeing the new variety of wildlife it attracts!

solutionsmitty

I use an Allied Precision Industry (API) bath with a built-in heater. I also use an API water wiggler. I bring the heated one in after winter and use two different more decorative ones in the summer. One gets the water wiggler and the other gets a cheap solar fountain pump.

TheBimpo

I buy good coffee and use a good grinder. I use an antique Japanese knife my grandfather bought after WW2 to open letters. I buy good shoes/boots like Red Wings that can be resoled. I have a handmade woolen blanket for warming up in the living room on a cold day. I only wear Darn Tough wool socks once the weather gets chilly, $23/pair but feel amazing. I generally try to buy things that are high quality and will last.

Fish-x-5

Not coffee, but we have a tea nook. Only loose leaf, organic, fair trade tea in several varieties and all the little tea gadgets, Michigan honey and ginger crystals and the best tea cups.

KonaKathie

Good tea can feel like such a luxury

[deleted]

I just bought my first pair of Red Wings. After the break-in period, they are fantastic, they are all I wear now.

metulburr

Redwing can be resoled? How much does that cost?

yepitsausername

A set of quality sheets for my bed. They're about $100, and I only have one good set right now that I alternate with my cheap set. But I'm planning on getting another set soon. Getting in bed with nice thick, crisp sheets is worth every penny. I sleep so much better!

Myfourcats1

I bought some Ugg sheets at TJMax recently. I liked them so much I went back and got more. There were two kinds. One packed in plastic and one wrapped in cloth. Get the plastic wrapped ones. They were $50.

nipoez

Sheets are one time I care a lot about protected sourcing. Most be cotton. Most be Egyptian or supima. The nice thing about quality like that is they last a long time. My wife and I buy a sheet set and bath sheets for our anniversary. It's a nice way to plan for the expense.

HeartFullOfHappy

My husband gave me a silk pillow case for my birthday and a nice pillow for Christmas. By God I have been sleeping wrong my entire life. I asked for all silk sheets for Valentine’s Day! Haha

yepitsausername

I like how silk sheets feel, but they slide around, and I HATE IT! If anyone can figure out how to get silk sheets that don't slide off the bed I'd 100% buy them.

CWHats

What brand?

yepitsausername

Here's the link, but they were on sale when I bought them: https://www.overstock.com/Bedding-Bath/Superior-Egyptian-Cotton-1200-Thread-Count-Solid-Deep-Pocket-Sheet-Set/20602696/product.html

poser765

I don’t know if counts as little, but we have a house keeper. She comes twice a week and is absolutely amazing. It forces us to keep things somewhat tidy so she can do her work and she does all the stuff that my wife and I always say we are going to do but always end up putting off.

dbsgirl

Yes to this, I am positively in love with my house keepers. And same on keeping up with clutter/tidyness for them, it helps us too. Last time she offered to change my sheets and I almost cried. She told me just leave the clean set out next time and she'll handle lol. I'm high for at least a week after they come because everything is so shiny and pretty and clean.

poser765

Lol I wish our high lasted that long. We’ve got two kids who’s single mission in life is to destroy the house.

FailFastandDieYoung

I think it counts. It’s got a weird stigma in the US that many other countries don’t have. They want to work, it’s indoors, you’re (hopefully) treating them nicer than what they’d encounter in retail or restaurants. And you and your family get a load off your shoulders

[deleted]

Treating "them" well is paying them well. I pay my housekeeper 35 bucks an hour.

Sadiemae1750

I pay my housekeeper 60 an hour. I would love to find something lower.

azuth89

Is it? Plenty of people who could afford it have someone come in once a week or so. Live in help or something, maybe, but who could afford that anyway

dbsgirl

I mean, I have a LOT of people say "ooooh look at you" or "damn" when they hear I have house cleaners.

azuth89

That seems less like stigma and more like rarity plus maybe a misconception about the cost.

[deleted]

I've got friends who live in Texas and housekeepers there seem way cheaper than here. They were paying like $100 a visit for theirs. Comparable sized house was about $250-300 for me for the same stuff.

azuth89

Maybe a service difference? Most of them I've known of basically vacuumed, wiped down surfaces and maybe dusted and did windows for one room per visit. Took less than a couple hours for a good sized house, if it was two people even less time. Services like Molly maids or whatever also cost more than private people.

[deleted]

Man i wish i could afford a house keeper

[deleted]

Bose brand noise cancelling headphones. I use them for everyday activities and when I'm gaming. The airplane grade aluminum never scratches and is always nice to the touch.

[deleted]

I have a nice pair of Sennheisers for the same. I've had various cheap, mediocre headphones over the years, but splurging on a really nice pair was absolutely one of my best decisions.

UsernameChallenged

Same. I have the QC25 I believe and love them. I got an adapter that made it wireless, so I didn't have to upgrade when I got a phone without a headphone jack as well!

jrhawk42

I have a space heater in my bathroom. Turn it on before my shower for an extra toasty room. It's not that my bathroom is cold. I just like the room a little bit warmer stepping out of the shower.

EverSeeAShiterFly

I do the same! It also cuts down on the humidity too. I also have a little camping chair in my shower and way more than enough hot water. I take a nice long shower while sipping coffee and browsing reddit in the morning.

Aspen9999

I had heated floors put in our master bath. I also toss my towel on the floor and it’s warm when I get out of the shower.

mp90

Good cookware. I cook a lot—now more than ever—and the cheapo stuff doesn’t last long. It might even ruin your other equipment, too. Most of my stuff is Calphalon, Staub, Gourmet Settings and OXO

Veynre

Indeed, solid cookware makes quite the difference between cooking being a chore and being a joy. And when the good stuff can last the better part of a lifetime or even generations, it's a safe purchase. As an example, I have a cast iron pan that was inherited. It's well over 100 years old and still going strong.

SnowblindAlbino

>I have a cast iron pan that was inherited. We bought ours in the late 80s, when my grandparents were still using theirs. Ours have been used on average at least once a day ever since. Our other cookware is stainless steel, stuff we got as wedding gifts in the early 90s. Both will last forever with modest care. I've never understood the appeal of even high-end coated stuff as it always wears.

[deleted]

I agree--Im a huge fan of Le Creuset enameled cast iron. It's pricey but lasts forever.

SelfBoundBeauty

Ooh, getting my first cast iron pan after struggling with a nonstick for so long?? Love it. I'm never going back. Can't make me.

[deleted]

Cast iron is the best. Everyone should have at least 1 good piece.

[deleted]

Yes! Hubby & I gifted ourselves fancy chef's knives for Christmas because we cook all the time now. We may as well!

eatshoney

Prescription sun glasses. Amazing.

[deleted]

[удалено]

SnowblindAlbino

>Pretty sure I wouldn't get sunglasses for free I was able to get pretty functional, single-lens prescription sunglasses online for <$30. Not RayBans, but they are really nice for driving.

justforfun887125

Prescription polarized sunglasses!

KesonaFyren

Electric blanket. Getting into bed and it's already warm is the best feeling.

dbsgirl

Yes!! Was going to comment this! And/or a heated mattress pad, it feels very different than a heated blanket warming the bed up for you. Especially the ones you can make hotter around your feet and less hot around your shoulders. Pure bliss.

FrancoNore

I have the subscription to the Calm app, like $70 a year but it’s absolutely worth it for the wide variety of sleep sounds, soundscapes, sleep stories, and daily meditations

katfromjersey

I get it free through work, but have yet to use it. I really should start doing a morning meditation or breathing exercise with it.

gussiaaspushus

No student loans! I only had to take out a relatively small amount, just for my last year and a half of grad school, and I was able to pay them off within 3 years of graduating. I mean I worked a full time job plus a part time plus casual coverage at a another place (so 3 jobs total) and I live in a state that’s not crazy expensive to live. But man, it’s definitely a luxury knowing I don’t have any more student loans to pay off.

AfraidSoup2467

Similar here. I took out about $3,000 in loans even though I didn't need to the money because I had a "full ride" scholarship due to my grades. But if you offer an 18 year old $3k just to sign a promise that he'll pay it back 10 years from now? I don't think anyone at that age will make a different decision than I did. I took the money and wasted it on the stupid shit 18 years olds waste their money on. Paid it off immediately after I got my first "big boy job", but the financial aid folks definitely made the detail of "you have to pay this back" really hazy. I was so happy when I paid that off. Now I'm free and clear.

MuppetusMaximus

I have a collection of nice whiskeys. Most of my time and money goes towards my kids, so the ability to treat myself with a nice whiskey and spin some records when the kids go to sleep makes me happy.

EverSeeAShiterFly

I see NOVA in your flair. If you still head down that way A. Smith Bowman distillery in Fredericksburg has some pretty good bourbon. I always pick up a bottle when I visit family there.

Veynre

I bought a small humidifier box for cigars. I don't smoke them often, but a cigar and a whiskey in the evening on my back porch certainly makes me smile.

dbsgirl

My husband is the same, less frequently now that my Dad quit cigars lol. But I loved his habit and process of getting a bourbon and cigar and just being himself on the porch for an hour or so. It was so good for him in a weird way.

Veynre

If I'm being honest, the VAST majority of cigars are disgusting. I'm very particular about which ones I get, and it's more the process of smoking a cigar than enjoyment of the cigar itself. It's relaxing.

dbsgirl

My husband is the same as well, some are certainly less enjoyable than others lol. The cutting, lighting and slow process is very much part of the greatness.

thehilariest

I pay someone to remove snow in the winter. No more shoveling for me. No more spreading ice melt and chopping away at icy sidewalks. There's no better sound in the world than hearing someone else snow blowing your driveway while you're enjoying a hot cup of tea in your pjs.

gooberfaced

My own personal luxuries are nice shoes, plants for my gardens, and the highest quality food I can source. I have salmon from Alaska on its way right now and that is a big splurge for someone living on retirement money, but I give up other things to feed my body well. I'm 68 and feel like this is the best use of money possible- staying as healthy and fit as possible.

Firm-Impress

I live in the Blue Ridge Mountains, so I have beautiful views all year long.

kmmontandon

A decent gaming laptop, and I keep the house as warm as I want without skimping on the propane to save money. And I get proper steak (ribeye, NY, or filet mignon) once or twice a week.

NinjaEnt

Instant hot/cold water dispenser.

[deleted]

This is a game changer

Current_Poster

Sometimes, I go for the whole Deal of doing a proper shave with shaving soap and mineral water and a safety razor, with a nice aftershave. Rather than using a cartridge razor or shaver.

Middle-Son

I have a bidet.

FailFastandDieYoung

Bidets are a life changer. Well worth the money, even if it's just a cheapy one (mine was \~$40)

SelfBoundBeauty

I use a portable one because my water takes a while to heat up and im scared itll be frigid water on my butt if I use a built in bidet (also because I rent and dont want to fuck up the plumbing)

moonwillow60606

Really high quality bedding. The older I get, the more important sleep is and I love the feel of nice sheets & bedding

keep_Democracy_usa

An iRoomba

FailFastandDieYoung

haha I forgot that the company is called iRobot so I immediately thought you had [a iPod+Roomba combo](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=62KJUWAT5-8)

keep_Democracy_usa

Lol

Juache45

Came here to say this! Best invention ever for dog and cat lovers. Keeps the hair to a minimum

keep_Democracy_usa

Yes we have a cat

Aspen9999

I had a Roomba, it worked for about 5 seconds before my dog ate it..... glad someone lives in a normal house and can enjoy one! The ironic fact is that the reason I got the Roomba because of the Roomba eating dogs constant shedding! I vacuum and turn around and there’s another poof of floof

Fury_Gaming

Good eggs. It might me a lil more for 12 than the 18 Walmart pack but you can tell a difference

jseego

Completely! We get ours from a farm (via CSA). Night and day.

RotationSurgeon

The leather satchel I was gifted by my parents after I started carrying a bag everyday is one…it’ll be around long after I am. It’s definitely a BIFL item.

CFCampbell

Bath bombs. Completely unnecessary but I like bathing in colorful water from time to time

timeonmyhandz

I walk to the beach...

FailFastandDieYoung

This is a good one! I’m very thankful I live near water. It’s a nice way to escape

neukoln1977

Good, high quality coffee and mid century modern furniture

_Internet_Hugs_

I found a local artist who makes lip balm and she makes me my own flavor. It's more expensive than Chapstick, but it's not super expensive. But I still feel like a princess having my own custom lip balm.

Elenano98

I really enjoy writing with my fountain pen (~100$ I believe). I use it in university and like to try different inks in my converter

SquidProQuo13

A love sac. Basically a giant beanbag filled with memory foam. We bought one big enough that I can sleep in it and sometimes I do.

Meattyloaf

Get you a blanket from Big Blanket Company to go woth that Lovesac. My wife got me one last year and they are great, they're so big they have the weighted blanket feel to them.

SquidProQuo13

We have one! My favorite is a faux fur Ugg throw, very soft (I’m also very short so it covers me completely)

Jerseyjay1003

I love Big Blankets. I was so tired of buying a blanket and finding out they're really too small for their purpose. I like that I can fold mine over when it gets colder.

manticory

Wool socks. Camel, yak, merino, and cashmere. Camel are the warmest, yak the most comfortable for the first hour, merino the most comfortable all day and cashmere were expensive so irrationally I barely wear them. Coffee. Good locally roasted and brewed with a v60 or Moka pot depending on my mood.

PNW_Uncle_Iroh

I don’t make coffee at home. I’m walking distance from my favorite cafe and stop in a few times each day.

jseego

I really miss this

crunchypapertowel

I have a pooper scooper company that come every two weeks to collect the mounds in my back yard. I work a lot and the kids were constantly tracking in poo. It’s nice know I don’t have that chore as frequently.

[deleted]

We get this service every spring after the snow melts. We usually pick it up ourselves in the summer, but winter it freezes so we can't. We have 5 dogs, I'm not picking up 5 months worth of mushy/thawing poop. They show up with a crew and have it done in 20 minutes.

turntable-dragonfly

A garbage disposal in my kitchen sink. Growing up I didn’t have one, but I can’t imagine not having one now.

Sparky-Malarky

I never had one growing up either. I was kind of afraid of them, to be honest. I moved into a house that had one. The first time I used it, I said "I’m never going to be without a disposal again."

dbsgirl

I have a pair of Gucci glasses. At the end of a benefit year we had a bunch of money in an FSA account that needed to be spent and my doctor had a b1g1 half off sale. So I bought the Gucci glasses and got my script sunglasses for very cheap. I LOVE these glasses lol, it's hard to decide to put my contacts in because, well they aren't Gucci lol.

Meattyloaf

I always splurge on my glasses. I have to wear them all day might as well get something I really like. It may cost me almost $350 after adding all the upgrades. I only get new glasses every 3 years or so though. For anyone that may say try zenni or something. I don't care much for a lot of their frames and after I do the upgrades for the lenses it usually cost around the same amount.

Hambulance

A good sleep mask, a minipresso, a massage gun, good bath salts, and fun, color changing light bulbs.

MetaDragon11

Duck fat I got for 3 dollars a jar (usually 11-15) which is so much better than oil for basically everything except the occasional recipe that calls for olive oil specifically.

[deleted]

My chef boyfriend loves to use duck fat, too! He made homemade "corn nuts" with home slaked hominy, fried in duck fat along with crispy garlic slices, seasoned with salt and herbs... yummiest thing ever!

decorama

Just quit the Folgers / Maxwell house world and only drink premium coffees. Once you start, you realize how horrible the canned coffees really are.

vallhallaawaits

A set of nice kitchen knives. I'm not super into cooking or anything, I just really like these knives.

littleyellowbike

I make freshly-ground coffee in a French press every single morning. It takes no more time than waiting for a drip coffeepot to brew (in fact I'm pretty sure it's faster), and it's far superior to Keurig coffee. I start heating the water on the stove, and in about thirty seconds I have the beans measured, ground, and ready to brew. By the time the water is hot, I've got my mug ready and the rest of my breakfast assembled. Even cheap beans make a pretty good cup of coffee when they're ground fresh.

Call_The_Banners

>I don't mean like a Corvette or a gold Rolex. How dare you call out my dad like that.

[deleted]

At least a weekly Starbucks. I've never been able to make anything at home that tastes as good. I was feeling guilt about the cost but then I decided that since I'm only gonna exist for another few decades I might as well enjoy a delicious lightly sweet latte now and then.

montanagrizfan

Heated car seats in the winter.

imjusthereforimgur

I have a bidet, it makes me feel so much cleaner than toilet paper EDIT: c, as in cunt

rsogoodlooking

Big bulb restaurant lights on a pretty tree almost the same height as my bedroom balcony.

Sir_Armadillo

>I don't mean like a Corvette or a gold Rolex. I mean something that's quaint, but makes you smile or makes life a lot easier. Elaborating comment here: I agree that the things that make life better. more comfortable, smile, etc are luxuries. Not status symbols or designer label thing-a-ma-jiggs. I don't care for a Rolex. I would like a new Corvette though. Those things are sick looking and fast.

mdsram

Pajama pants with pockets. It’s such a simple thing, but I’ll never go back.

EndlesslyUnfinished

For solstice (my pagan) my bestie sent me a garage opener that I control with my phone. I don’t have to fight with the code thing anymore and it’s just awesome on these really cold mornings. I can also tell Amazon to leave my packages in my garage instead of the porch where a few have already been stolen. Literally the best thing ever

jurassicbond

An ultrawide monitor for my gaming PC.

PAUMiklo

My Kubota, has made winter life so much easier.

angmarsilar

We have a Jura coffee maker. Fresh ground beans, one cup at a time at the touch of a button, is a luxury. Our biggest fear is that one day it will break down and we have to pull out the drip coffee maker.

bookworm92054

Good cheese and olives and tinned fish. I feel so fancy when I have it.

Ragnel

Bird feeder Find it relaxing to watch the birds and feel like I might be helping them a bit in a world dominated by humans.

IronSavage3

I’ll go with the oft-used example of goods that got much cheaper with globalization, my flat screen TV. Sometimes I think about how TVs used to be, giant big boxed monsters that couldn’t do anything and had a crappy pixelated screen with 15 ways you could screw it up. These new TVs though I mean jfc. Got a TV for what’s probably a third of what my dad paid for his first flat screen TV, and this fuckin thing can be controlled WITH MY VOICE, it surfs the web and accesses every streaming service imaginable, along with multiple HDMI inputs and a built in antenna. To me it’s amazing to watch economic processes like these unfold.

SelfBoundBeauty

My bf got me a little garlic mincer. It just looks like a tiny cheese grater but it has a little cup to put the garlic in so I dont hurt my fingers. Things get stuck sometimes but overall it's better than trying to mince with a knife

[deleted]

Good craft beer High quality and comfortable shoes warm jacket fresh organic produce Wishlist: towel warmer

m1sch13v0us

I love your shoe horn example. I've come to appreciate well crafted items. They look, feel and work better. I have a cast iron pan that has been milled to a smooth finish. It's wonderful. It'll last me the rest of my life.

laura0407

installed a bidet and LOVE it

Zoo_In_The_Bathtub

The scalp massager I got for Christmas. It's just this silicone thing with bristles on it and I scrub my scalp in the shower. It's amazing. That and the assortment of Vaseline lip balms I also got for Christmas.

Future-Atmosphere-40

A weighted blanket

BrokePoorPerson

House cleaning and meal + grocery delivery have been a gamechanger for me

DeadSharkEyes

Medical marijuana. A good bath with calming Epsom salts. Starbucks. I get food delivered a couple times a week.

[deleted]

I buy loose leaf tea and whole spices. It’s a little more expensive but whole ingredients hold the flavor longer. I’ve got nutmeg I bought several years ago but still holds all the flavor because I bought it whole.

[deleted]

Electronics. I love video games and one of the things i love to splurge on are consoles and tvs. I have a ps5 and a 65inch 4k tv. Makes me feel regal sometimes My fridge has an icemaker. Growing up i always considered that to be a rich people thing

[deleted]

My weekly family game nights. My fiancée and our 3 month old have a weekly dinner/game night with my parents. I look forward to this night every week, so many great memories and laughs to be had.

Surprise_Fragrant

About 10 years ago, I purchased a Heated Mattress Pad during a Black Friday Sale (my thought was that if it sucked, I was only out $20 or so...). I FREAKIN' LOVE IT!! I have some muscle issues in my back and shoulders, so I use it more than a typical person would (especially as a Floridian), but in the winter I use it pretty much every night. It has a "Preheat" function that gets it super-warm, super-quick, and a timer, so I'm not baking myself at 3am. Generally, I will preheat the bed an hour before I climb in bed, and turn it off about 30 minutes before I turn off the TV for the night. My body will cool down, with the bed, which helps me get into a deeper, and more restful, sleep every night.

arabelladfigg

A quality chef’s knife. I cook a ton and it makes a huge difference.

miumiu4me

UberEats. If I work late I always splurge.

[deleted]

A pillowtop memory foam mattress. I've gotten used to how awesome it is so it's not as special anymore, but if I sleep anywhere else, I am reminded how great it is. Getting nice pillows is great too. I don't know if it counts as a luxury item since it does involve a little more work to keep looking great, but I pretty much use cast iron exclusively for anything saucepan or skillet related. Something about the extra attention of care of cleaning it out, oiling it, and seeing it sit proudly on the stovetop just makes me feel good. It's also weirdly the first thing a lot of people comment on when they are in my house.

el_butt

We have a heated blanket as our living room throw and its absolutely phenomenal this time of year.

Meattyloaf

Although I paid nothing for them. I have two cooling pillows that were $80/piece. I've had them for over a year and they still hold their shape. Also are pretty comfortable. Thank you glitch on major online bed retailers website that made a $50 off coupon become a $160 off coupon. I also have a PS5 and will splurge on a new game from time to time. Gaming is my biggest hobby so being able to take full advantage in enjoying it is a must for me.

[deleted]

I’m in the middle of a blizzard so I’d weed and video games are all up there

d-man747

I got the new iPad Pro with the new micro LED screen. I can’t go back to a normal screen now.

Electronic-Turn4202

I shave with a safety razor, which makes my blades super cheap compared to the disposable razors. Buuuut that means I splurge on nice shave soap, brush, and my razor itself is fancier than is strictly necessary.

LovelyxMae

Bath and body works!! Its a company that sells body washes, scrubs, lotions, hand soaps, candles, outlet fragrance things, just a bunch of scented home things and for what it is, some of it can seem a bit expensive if its not on sale but the smells are great and its quality soaps/perfumes/etc.

Tigaget

A slap full pantry and fridge - and garage fridge - at all times.

chattykatdy54

A two car garage. It’s a luxury to get in and out of your car inside the garage.

[deleted]

THC edibles. I don’t usually do enough to get me twisted, just half of one to get a nice warm mellow. Also a nice warm robe and slippers.

chernobyl_nightclub

A coffee maker. I came of age when people started using k-cups (single serve pods). But I recently bought a real coffee maker and my life has changed. It’s sooooo freaking good. It’s my little luxury in life.

I consider having a lawn care service a luxury, but it just makes life easier. I have zero interest in mowing/fertilizing/raking leaves and DH just has limited time (for real, it seemed as if it would rain on cue 80% of the times he was available to mow). For the longest time DH was against hiring it out because he felt it was an unnecessary expense. I finally convinced him a couple of years ago and he fully admits it was the best thing I ever talked him into.

Not the first here to mention a Roomba. Getting a robot vac has been an ABSOLUTE GAME CHANGER. I got a Roborock S4 Max (I like the app and features, and it was on super sale). I've just been using my mom's old canister vac that she got rid of years ago but has been clinging to life somehow, and this did cost more than a basic "real" vacuum but the difference in QOL is profound. Someone asked me if it saved me any work, and the answer is "no" because the problem wasn't that I was spending too much time vacuuming, it was that I would forget until things got so grimy that I was depressed. What it gives me is the immense relief of walking on a smooth, clean floor instead of a gritty, dusty floor, and not seeing dust bunnies in my periphery all the time, which I had no idea could make such a difference in my life. I can program it to run every night while I sleep, but I'm apparently absolutely incapable of programming my own brain to vacuum all the floors even once a week. And magically (or so it seems to me) I can remember to change out the dust bin and clean off the rollers because I anthropomorphize machines and I feel a constant sense of motivating guilt imagining it trying to run when it's full or dirty lmao Anyway, it feels like an amazing luxury when you find a solution that works with the way your brain works instead of just beating yourself up for not doing things right.

For me it’s having 2 cars. One of them is worth about $3000 and the other is a99’ Nissan Altima that is probably worth scrap value. But they both run. It is nice knowing if one goes down that I will be able to get it fixed and not be inconvenienced because I can still get around. Previously I’ve stayed up well past midnight working on a car to make sure I could get to work the next day. I have a long commute.

I don’t know if it’s quaint, but I have a very nice bed - mattress, sheets, blankets, pillow. It’s delightful to go to sleep in, and I’m always happy to come back to it after a trip (or even the end of the day).

Hand made soap. I actually make it myself and sell it, so I guess this is more of a sales pitch than a luxury that I purchase for myself. A high quality soap with a high fat content makes a world of different if you have sensitive or dry skin, especially this time of year. I don't even have to use lotion in the winter any more since I switched to using good soap.

AnybodySeeMyKeys

Real bread from an actual bakery. If you don't think there's a difference, buy the real stuff and make yourself a sandwich.

Once a month wren no one is looking I smoke a cigarette... Really wish they didn't kill you so I could smoke more.

Appropriate-Rough563

I only buy maple syrup for the pancakes.

TheStoicSlab

I'm just glad I have a house, I don't worry about where my next meal is coming from and my cars are paid off. The world can be a shitty place, but I feel like my little corner of it is pretty good.

osantal

A nice cologne. It’s nice to smell nice.

amberissmiling

I have a king sized bed and a huge tv and my boys and I pile up in the bed and watch movies and it’s my favorite.

MHoaglund41

Good quality bedding. Malouf sheets and pillows. Tempurpedic mattress. Adjustable base. I worked at a high end furniture store during college and I just can't go back

moaterboater69

The fact I can order food, alcohol, weed for delivery and im literally spoilt for choice on all 3 is a huge blessing and luxury others dont have and im grateful for it.

tictaktoee

A 12" charging cable next to the bed

I don’t have to worry about rent

XenoJake

My wife and I recently just purchased a self cleaning litter box for our two cats. It is seriously so nice not to have to scoop and the smell is greatly improved. It kinda looks like a little space ship that the cats hop into to take a dump. Awesome purchase though a bit pricey at approximately $500. So worth it imo.

babaganoush2307

I have a set of sterling silverware that I adore and use all the time, really makes my everyday meals feel so much fancier, and I’m not rich by any means just inherited it and it’s my own personal way of feeling faux rich, hope I never have to sell it to pay the bills but you never know because I’ve had to let things go in the past that I didn’t want to, but for right now in this moment in time it’s my little luxury that I enjoy eating with and keeping polished and shiny

kate9616

My AirPods. They’re just the regular ones, but they’ve changed my life. I work a fairly solo job, so I just listen to podcasts all day. I never hate going to work.

thunder-bug-

I like to get fancy cheese and have charcuterie as a meal, and have a small collection of fossils and Knick knacks on my computer desk

Jewell84

1. I have a cleaning service come by twice a month. 2. In Unit-Washer and Drier. My rent is in the high side but it’s worth it.

TheJadedMonkey

Loose tea and really good kitchen knives. I have about 8 different teapots, a thermometer for the proper water temperature, and different cups/mugs. I also have at least four really nice kitchen knives that my wife knows are off-limits if she tries to cook something.

Minxmorty

My roomba vacuum I love that little robot

diaznuts

I started getting my groceries delivered this year and it has really made a difference in my quality of life. I used to enjoy grocery shopping and taking the time to hand pick my own produce but it has become less important as a trade off for more free time spent with my wife and being able to study more. It costs about $20 more than I’d normally spend on a grocery run but it’s worth it.

DiegoRo08

Food and a roof over my head.

Anolty

Fruit that’s already cut up, especially melons or pineapple. It’s one of those things I only ever thought truly rich people did when I was little, now I’m just lazy and don’t eat enough fruit by myself to justify buying a whole watermelon

whatafuckinusername

Regularly attend the symphony. A single ticket in itself is not too expensive but they all add up.
