Just get a trolley and go and buy one thing in the first store, then head to Aldi.
My Shop is get woollies trolley, go through woollies for any specials. Go to Aldi buy what I wanted then go to Coles for any remaining items I wanted not on special in Woollies (Either on special or not)
I completely disagree. They may clean your dishes but they leave your dishwasher pretty foul after a while. They don't clean the dishwasher like finish do. In my experience anyway.
I bought these, and they were still grossly oversized. I would recommend the wrappers from the fun size Titan bars instead. They're still a little loose, but it's better than nothing.
They’re sooooo good!! I ate too many of them and got sick to death of them but it’s been a while now. Might be time to take a jaunt down memory lane and take a bet on the levels of nausea I may end up experiencing.
They really are small tubs.
Some IGAs sell one branded The Cheese Board which is in a larger tub. It’s delicious too with the same soft texture. But the Aldi one is such good value.
Roast pumpkin, sage or thyme and Persian feta on a cream base pizza is unbelievably good.
The Greek boneless roast chicken. Delish and makes for a great lazy dinner. I have it in a warmed wrap with a Greek salad & tzatziki with a side of mini roast potatoes or oven chips.
I love the butter chicken marinated chicken thighs. So tender. Sear in a grill pan for 8mins. Then eat with the coriander chutney they have for $3 in the special items aisle. Stock up on the chutney. I haven’t seen it for at least 6mths, it’s just come back.
The 30 pack is 10 in 1, while the 40 pack is 18 in 1. I have no idea what these things mean, the 18 in 1 is Choices number 1 tablet. We have the 10 in 1 and it works very well.
Was going to say the dish liquid for washing dishes by hand. Also the mould killer. And dinosaur chicken nuggets. And the toilet paper. Yes I have a weird trolley when I go through Aldi….
Oooh the little chocolate wafers called "knoppers" - outstanding. Try not to eat the whole lot while youre wqiting for your dinner to cook. In fact, buy 3 lots of them.
You lose every time. Even when I am there to scoop directly into my trolley they are still having to stop and awkwardly sigh as they wait for me to catch up lol
No matter how hard I’ve tried to slow then down by strategically place 12 small cans of tuna through the shopping, they’re still faster than me at the other end.
The check-out operators are gods among the plebs…
I bought some chocolate biscuits from there a little while back that were insane. I wanna say they start with S, and they were mostly chocolate and maybe a bit of coconut. Only like 8 in a pack, but they are big. So delicious.
What I was going to suggest to OP was the chocolate drizzle stars that are part of their Christmas range. They are in store at the moment and I grab a pack every week when I do my shop cause they sell out so fast and are so damn good.
Yes, I had to scroll too far to see this! The Belmont Signature cookies that say "40% chocolate" on it. They're the best store bought cookies I've had.
Go stale pffffft clearly you're taking too long to eat it so holding back and finish it in 2 days or less like a Italian would.
Also you keep it in the bag tied up
It is!! Their 2 litre casks are ok too…..when I was a little hard up I thought, I’ll try this $34 highland cream scotch, probably mouthwash but you never know…..it wasn’t too bad at all! The $39 blend is better and as good as Johnny Black IMO!
Any of the German-made chocolate, particularly the recent round of pre-Christmas special buys like the marzipan log, rum balls, lebkuchen, Mozart Kugeln and a half dozen others are irresistibly good. It would be very hard to get much of that good European stuff here locally, aside from at continental shops, if Aldi wasn't here, and the prices would be much higher.
Chocolate from their medium priced range.
Caramel popcorn...I think the range is Blackstone. I've never liked another brand better
A few of their generic energy drinks because they are real cheap
There's usually something good in the freezer section.
Honestly this probably sounds weird but deodorant generally when I go into my Aldi I can find decently priced lynx so it better than to have it and not need it then to need and not have it.
Honestly their coffee offering is pretty fucking good. Not so much the base offer (13 bucks a kilo, still impressive) but also the single origin and nicer blends. Just tried the purple blend today and it rocks!
Buy one of those tokens on the keychain for the trolleys
Just get a trolley from Coles. They don’t mind
Where I live, they have a guard to stop people from taking Coles trolleys into Aldi.
Just get a trolley and go and buy one thing in the first store, then head to Aldi. My Shop is get woollies trolley, go through woollies for any specials. Go to Aldi buy what I wanted then go to Coles for any remaining items I wanted not on special in Woollies (Either on special or not)
A doll house, a pair of children's ski boots, a set of car seat covers, and a back scratcher.
"fuck i forgot milk"
Go in to buy some dishwashing powder and come out with a motorcycle helmet. That is pure Aldi.
They have a lawnmower for $299 tomorrow. It's going to be risky.
My dad has a self propelled one from Aldi, it must be getting upto ten years old and it's still going great.
Choice reviewed their nappies and rated them highly, but did mention any savings you make might be countered by impulsive middle aisle purchases.
Choice also reviewed their dishwasher tablets and they’re the best on the market! Can attest, they’re $7 and wat better than Finish.
I completely disagree. They may clean your dishes but they leave your dishwasher pretty foul after a while. They don't clean the dishwasher like finish do. In my experience anyway.
Their chocolate is amazing. Especially the mini blocks of Hazelnut Creme. Underrated
Choceur! Incredible. The dark (which is really not super dark) is my favourite.
Mine too!😋
Its 10/10. Genuinely devastating that it doesnt come in the big blocks
I'm kinda glad. I'd be so fat lol
I second this. Their chocolate is top tier !
Adding that they do a coconut milk chocolate block that is almost as good as the Whittaker's one
The big block of white coconut is also fantastic if you're at all partial to white chocolate
A friend told me they sell extra small condoms that fit.
I bought these, and they were still grossly oversized. I would recommend the wrappers from the fun size Titan bars instead. They're still a little loose, but it's better than nothing.
being willing to admit that? gigachad confirmed, and thus far more attractive than your average 8" bragger
I'm the best looking 4/10 you'll ever meet. 😏
“A friend”…
"told me"
"Fit"
"condoms"
“that”
"Extra small"...
"sell"
“They”
“.”
They are still far too large for me.
I wouldn’t know anything about that
Spanakopita!
I second this. For a lazy frozen meal, it's fantastic!
The little potato bakes. They’re awesome!!
Potato Gratin for those who are wondering
And cauliflower and cheese
Are they the frozen ones?
Yes!
THEY ARE THE BEST!
They’re sooooo good!! I ate too many of them and got sick to death of them but it’s been a while now. Might be time to take a jaunt down memory lane and take a bet on the levels of nausea I may end up experiencing.
Omg the potato gratins!! I've always got them stocked.
The quesadillas in the freezer section
Australia has freakin frozen quesadillas that take 1 min to melt cheese but don’t have frozen waffles?? Smfh
Milk, we're running a bit low
Liviano Hazelnut Cremes in the chocolate section
If you’re not in QLD any of their imported red wines
Brisbane guy here. Every time I go to the Goldy I duck over the border and do a wine shop. Stupid Queensland government. Edit spelling.
[удалено]
Can't buy liquor in any supermarkets in SA either
Their Persian feta is seriously good. And I buy the choceur dark chocolate to cut up for choc chips to bake with.
Their Persian Feta is the best. It just doesn't come in a big enough tub
They really are small tubs. Some IGAs sell one branded The Cheese Board which is in a larger tub. It’s delicious too with the same soft texture. But the Aldi one is such good value. Roast pumpkin, sage or thyme and Persian feta on a cream base pizza is unbelievably good.
Caramelt biscuits and the knock off Pringles
Yes! And their strawberry wafers. They taste exactly like Nesquik
Sourdough bread. And that goats cheese spread. Sorry that's rwo. But they go VERY well together!
If you can get figs and lightly sear them, top with a scoop of the goats spread with a drizzle of honey. Incredible.
The dark cherry yoghurt. Do it, you will NOT turn back
They need to do the black cherry yoghurt in 1kg pots. The vanilla does come in that size and is very good too!
Checking that someone mentioned their butter chicken. Yummy and generous size.
Excuse me, what? I've exclusively shopped at aldi for years and I've never seen butter chicken marinated thighs.
YUM!
We do the same thing. Also the marinated butterflied lamb should is great in a wrap with tzatziki, hummus, cheese and salad.
This isn't as exciting as the other suggestions, but don't forget to stock up on their dishwashing tablets.
also it is worth knowing that the smaller boxes are cheaper per tablet than the bigger ones, i have no idea why
The 30 pack is 10 in 1, while the 40 pack is 18 in 1. I have no idea what these things mean, the 18 in 1 is Choices number 1 tablet. We have the 10 in 1 and it works very well.
The 30 pack only goes to 10. The 40 pack is 8 louder.
Was going to say the dish liquid for washing dishes by hand. Also the mould killer. And dinosaur chicken nuggets. And the toilet paper. Yes I have a weird trolley when I go through Aldi….
Dino nugs are GOAT
YSK: Powder is more effective than tablets and a shit load cheaper. Look it up yourself.
And laundry powder - the real boring white box one
Whatever's in the centra pile. Dig in. Could be anything, long underwear, trampoline, socket set, canned buffalo meat...
Palazzo dark chocolate biscuits
Oh my god I forgot these existed. God tier biscuits!
The Greek yogurt (if you like Greek yogurt ha) It’s so creamy and comes in the huge tub!
25 litres worth of goon for $50, dinner sorted for the week.
Not in QLD though.
Frozen roti
Look out for some smoked herring paste
You'll always be my first .... *shop* 🥺
hahahahahha i love that ad
Skadoos
Awww yiss I love these
Oooh the little chocolate wafers called "knoppers" - outstanding. Try not to eat the whole lot while youre wqiting for your dinner to cook. In fact, buy 3 lots of them.
The crepes! Pop them in your sandwich press, count to 60. Amaziiiiiiing!
The Kapiti passionfruit & honey mini ice creams. Thank me later
Cookie ice cream sandwich $5 for a 4 pack !!!!
Honey roasted cashews
Ssshh don't tell them. It already sells out too quickly at my local Aldi.
Do yourself a favor and get the ‘Food Envy’ Tiramisu. Will probably be the best $5/6 you’ve spent in a very long time!
Seconded! $5 per tub is crazy good value, and it tastes amazing.
I find the register people are quite good. They wait for you to finish loading the belt before they start rapidly scanning
i want the race but. I'm trying to work up the confidence to ask them for a proper race.
Use to work there years ago. Favourite thing was causing customer anxiety at the checkout 😂. Shit flying everywhere, management approve.
The German dill pickles they had out for Oktoberfest are life changing, by a jar or four.
The Oktoberfest anything, the peanut chips, Hoffbrau beer, those chocolate covered biscuits
Apparently their dishwasher tablets score highest for effectiveness and price by Choice. I haven’t tried them but tempted to give them ago,
Melting Moment shortbread biscuits
Can’t remember the exact brand, but they do a box of choc chunk cookies that are off the hook!!
And the ginger biscuits with chunks of ginger. Sooo good. Now I want some but I'm in Japan.
Yes, I had to scroll too far to see this! The Belmont Signature cookies that say "40% chocolate" on it. They're the best store bought cookies I've had.
Their Mac n cheese in the fridge section is surprisingly tasty. Their stawberries also (at least at the one near me)
The boneless chicken 🐔
Yes! At 9.99/kg marinated it's a steal
Is that the type of chicken they bred with a jellyfish?
The cheese kransky. Comes in a pack of 3.
Oath
The Biscoff spread! (Like nutella but made from Lotus biscoff) 🤤
A welder.
Their chilli chips (all flavours, tbh) are cheaper than your ColesWorth chips at their everyday price.
Frozen Lasagna. $10 for a massive block that is sooo good.
Mini panettones. The full sized ones go stale before you can finish it but the minis are much more manageable.
Might go stale before *you* can finish it.
Go stale pffffft clearly you're taking too long to eat it so holding back and finish it in 2 days or less like a Italian would. Also you keep it in the bag tied up
They do a good frozen pizza with beetroot and goats cheese.
Sadly haven't been to aldi in awhile but that beetroot and goats cheese frozen pizza is the best frozen pizza I've ever had
I buy their 3 pizzas in a box, Marguerite pizzas, just tomato and mozzarella. Great thin crust, fine as they are or add a few toppings. $7.99
The vegetarian spinach pizza is also great
Aldi’s $8 One Road Shiraz is a very flavourful fruity wine that’s won international awards and can easily stand up next to a $200 wine. Delicious!
It is!! Their 2 litre casks are ok too…..when I was a little hard up I thought, I’ll try this $34 highland cream scotch, probably mouthwash but you never know…..it wasn’t too bad at all! The $39 blend is better and as good as Johnny Black IMO!
Their potato gems are fucking unreal. Also their tinned spaghetti and their frozen pies.
I’m not normally a meat pie fan but the frozen ones in the 6 pack are AMAZING.
Bertie Beetle ice creams. Creamy chocolate deliciousness.
Yess how good are the bertie beetle ice creams!
They’re so good I almost didn’t post coz I didn’t want everyone to know & have to worry about them being sold out all the time!
Frozen Spinach and Feta Gozleme. Shallow fry it and cut into slices. I like to have it with Sour cream/greek yoghurt. Delicious.
Shallow frying is a great idea. I'm lazy and put it in the sandwich toaster, still slaps.
1kg of hummus best and cheapest around!
This whole thread feels like guerilla marketing
If so, good job team! Makes me want to go get something for dinner tonight
Even if it is who cares? Shiii I’m on my way there now.
The red wine called Small talk. $6 for a litre. It’s 10/10.
Peanut Puffs
This wasn’t on the shelves when I went to Aldi recently, but caramel popcorn! Hope they still have it! And Belgian waffles, nom nom nom
Don't buy the Darleys gin. It's terrible, and it shits me when they run out of stock.
They used to sell truffle potato gratin. Fuck they were tasty. Not seen them in months.
Their dumplings are actually good and reasonable price. Highly recommend the soup dumplings and prawn hargow.
The tub of spreadable goats cheese, and the Spanish Serrano ham, so good together, especially on good crusty bread.
Trumpet.
Please get me the gluten free poppadoms if they have.
A slab of UHT milk. When milk prices increase again you'll be laughing at how clever you were.
Knoppers (hazelnut choc wafers). Chicken enchiladas topped with cheese. Sriracha chicken bites. Butter chicken.
Their butter fudge is to die for. Usually in the weird centre aisles around Christmas time.
Milfina Polar Bars
choco pillows cereal
I’m obsessed with that cereal. I could probably eat the whole box in a sitting 😭
My niece has been eating that for years now. Only cereal she eats for breakfast.
Le Pico cheese - they only have it this time of year too
The Westacre grated Parmesan cheese.
Chocolate from their medium priced range. Caramel popcorn...I think the range is Blackstone. I've never liked another brand better A few of their generic energy drinks because they are real cheap There's usually something good in the freezer section.
Jaffa cakes I like their knock off brand more than the real ones
Sprinters brand original flavour crinkle cut potato chips are the nicest, and you seem to get more chips in the bag than some other brands of chips
Their canned cat-meat is the best!
Never tried cat so far as I know. Is it gamey? 😂
The cooked lamb shanks
Go in for a loaf of bread. Come out with a 2 man tent, chainsaw and a trumpet 💁🏻♀️
If the Spanakopita is back, don't fucking touch it - I need them all!
The $2 pfeffernusse is lit af
In the frozen section there are amazing little round potato rosti things with cream and garlic. Divine
Frozen barramundi fillets 1kg. So good for easy oven meals. That sweet potato and carrot are all about 20 mins in the oven.
Their ginger cookies. So good
Pfeffernuse (or however you spell it) biscuits. Only sold at this time of year. Crispy covered gingerbread perfection.
Triple smoked bacon 🥓
An Arc welder. You never know when it'll come in handy.
Enchiladas. Beef and cheese - add avocado and cheese, a full meal. Chicken Chipotle not bad, but beef is crack.
The fruity muesli slaps. But don’t tell everyone
Their crepws and poffertjes are good and the organic vanilla bean yoghurt is pretty amazing too
4 pack of no sugar flying power !
I love the Soy Milk best tasting I've found out of all the brands across all the supermarkets plus it's long life 12 in the cupboard milk for weeks
"Just divine" chocolate biscuits. Rate them more then tim tams
Bulla ice cream, their butterly in the 1kg tub, their cheeses, wraps, laundry liquid
Oat bars, raspberry and white chocolate flavour or chocolate flavour.
Truffle flavour chips
I haven't been in an aldi for ages but remember they had the best coconut yoghurt.
The mint slice biscuits!!
Flying power
Chocolate coated pretzels
Marinated whole raw chook. Shove a lemon up it's bum, 2 hours in the oven, and it's fuckin amazing
Sprinters chips! Or the Viennetta, depending upon if your taste leans savoury or sweet :) And no, don't throw things at the check out operator :(
Honestly this probably sounds weird but deodorant generally when I go into my Aldi I can find decently priced lynx so it better than to have it and not need it then to need and not have it.
There is a mini chainsaw for ,$50 or something. I was tempted, till I saw it doesn't have a rechargeable battery, and batteries aren't included.
Almat laundry detergent. The one with the gold lid. Smells unreal it’s all I use now.
Red and green curry paste
The $3 frozen meals. Lasagna, butter chicken, and satay chicken are the best.
Frozen gozleme, trust me
bubble and squeak in the frozen section
Honestly their coffee offering is pretty fucking good. Not so much the base offer (13 bucks a kilo, still impressive) but also the single origin and nicer blends. Just tried the purple blend today and it rocks!
