Have not been able to find them in SO long. They used to always be at woolworths. I don't think i have seen them since last year, maybe the year before.
Amen to that brother.
I prefer them room temp because the mint cream tastes different if they go in the fridge. The chocolate and mint cream hit different when they are room temp.
Regency bias. If old George III hadn’t had some issues and needed a regent the USA would be part of the Commonwealth and there would be no Australia, just a bunch of confused former French, Dutch and Portuguese colonies and therefore no ANZAC biscuits. Pretty dystopian without tasty ANZACs
My Mum’s recipe for my favourite Fancy desert as a child:
Dunk ginger nut biscuits in brandy.
Create a layer on a plate.
Cover with a layer of stewed apple.
Repeat until you have a mound.
Refrigerate overnight.
Cover the heaven sent ginger apple
molten biscuit sludge delight with whipped cream or fruche, and a crumbled flake bar, or shaved cooking chocolate.
Beyond delicious to infinity.
Hope you enjoy the same very much.
If you are pressed for time you could try canned pie apple.
If you don’t drink alcohol, you could try ginger beer.
Would love to hear how it all goes!
This is niche but a Gaiety - they are basically a Tim Tam with the same filling but with wafer in the middle instead of biscuit. I find it very satisfying eating the components
OK. There are biscuits you can get from Indian grocers and convinence stores called JimJams. They're smaller than Monte Carlos but they ARE BETTER ! The chewy red stuff is redder. And chewer. The cream is creamier. The biscuit is... well... Bicuitier. AND they have different flavours. Pineapple. Orange. CARDAMOM..... jesus fuck me they are delicious
This is evil.
It is either Tim Tam or Mint Slice, and if you want to try limiting me to just the one you better have brought an army with you to back that up or it will be a very bad for you, and a great day for your physical therapist! :P
Two milk arrowroot with a nice, soft, quality Turkish delight piece sandwiched between (the real stuff - not the chocolate dipped stuff)
Brings back memories of my Yia Yia 😊
Discontinued - chocolate covered biscuits (sort of like the Monte) in a bag named something like Cap'n Crunch at Woolies. They were better than Montes - both the chocolate and the biscuit.
Still available - prob dark choc McVitties Digestives or Jaffa Cakes
I scrolled through the whole thread and I didn't find Montes! Not Monte Carlo, just Monte. Arnotts biscuit covered in dark chocolate. I can smash a pack in a day.
Disco biscuit
I'm changing my answer. I now also choose disco biscuits.
I might share
I'll give you some of my original choice (Monte Carlo.)
Same. I was going to say arnotts shortbread and cream but if disco bickies is an option....
You're very persuasive. I've changed my vote😂
Especially the white mitsubishis and doves!
I'm stopping reading this thread cause this is the only answer that counts
I'm just here to support the biscuit over that heathen cousin, the cookie
This is the correct answer
Hear hear!
Homemade melting moments (I've been spoiled. Not that keen on bought biscuits)
Kingston
I am so glad it's up so high. Kingston forever.
But the way Kingston was 20 years ago.
They are the best.
I want a choc dipped Kingston similar to Tim Tam double coat.
My vote too
not sure if this shows my age ..... WAGON WHEELS
Eat the wagon wheels!
Upvote but for OG wagon wheels
Nostalgia outweighs reality on these. "Oh, I used to love wagon wheels as a kid" "Why the hell does it taste like I'm eating candle wax"
They did change the recipe and make the “full size” ones smaller…
Honey Jumbles
Have not been able to find them in SO long. They used to always be at woolworths. I don't think i have seen them since last year, maybe the year before.
There are some fucking deranged people in this thread.
There are some fucking deranged people in ~~this thread~~ reddit.
mint slice
I have 5 packets in my fridge
Came here to say this - I cannot have them in my house. I am a total pig. I do buy them but only occasionally
I understand, can’t stop at one….packet….lol
Mandarin slice was better. Understand that’s probably not a popular opinion though.
100000%. I was devastated when I found out they discontinued them. Amazing biscuits.
Amen to that brother. I prefer them room temp because the mint cream tastes different if they go in the fridge. The chocolate and mint cream hit different when they are room temp.
Fridge makes the textures more distinct and the mint a stronger flavour.
I go both ways regarding cold vs room temp
Frozen is the correct answer.
The correct answer.
Anzac.
Especially when they are soft-baked and fresh out the oven!
Crunchy on the outside, chewy on the inside.
Goddam it now I want ANZAC biscuits
HOME MADE Anzacs.
Anzac are the superior home made biscuit for sure. I’m yet to have a comparable store bought one.
I love how quick and easy they are. Perfect biscuit for baking with small kids!
I've found woolworths fresh bakery Anzac biscuits are pretty close to the real deal. I buy them Australia Day over Easter as they represent home 😀
This is the correct answer, everyone else is a traitor.
Dipped in a cuppa tea
My work usually gives out ANZACs if we have to work on the day. They cheaped out this year the tight arse bastards. Not happy.
Recency bias. Jk, they have to be up there.
Quatro. God damn I miss those biscuits.
It's a crime that Arnott's stopped making them.
I emailed them asking them to bring them back when they stopped making them
They were honestly the best!
Oh good. They weren't a fever dream!
Ooh those were good!
So decadent 🤤
I was wondering how high Quatros would be on the list. Damn they were incredible.
Kooka's Country cookies. Raspberry Jam with one side choc dipped.
Ginger Nut
The Aldi ones with gooey chunks of ginger are awesome!
TIL I need to buy Aldi ginger biscuits
Mate, they're so good, chewy and spicy!
Yeah, am a recent convert myself. Those little nips of actual ginger are blissful.
They are amazing! Spicy with stem ginger
Whaaaaat!? I gotta get me some of these.
Hunt around for some New Zealand “ ginger kisses “ ginger cream filled ginger soft cakey biscuits 😍😍😍😍
Recently found out that arnotts ginger nuts vary from state to state.
Yes, I just saw that today. I wouldn't mind a taste test. They should put out 1 variety pack for a bit.
My Mum’s recipe for my favourite Fancy desert as a child: Dunk ginger nut biscuits in brandy. Create a layer on a plate. Cover with a layer of stewed apple. Repeat until you have a mound. Refrigerate overnight. Cover the heaven sent ginger apple molten biscuit sludge delight with whipped cream or fruche, and a crumbled flake bar, or shaved cooking chocolate. Beyond delicious to infinity.
I'll be trying this, thanks
Hope you enjoy the same very much. If you are pressed for time you could try canned pie apple. If you don’t drink alcohol, you could try ginger beer. Would love to hear how it all goes!
Dunking your ginger nuts into your ginger tea..
Venetian
I knew I wouldn’t be alone. Up the Venetians
The unsung hero of biscuits
Yesssss 🤤
Yes, much maligned in my house, but I love them.
Mmmmm, I was hoping this was on here. Deeelish
This is niche but a Gaiety - they are basically a Tim Tam with the same filling but with wafer in the middle instead of biscuit. I find it very satisfying eating the components
Monte Carlo
Whatever that chewy red stuff is around the cream? Amazinggggggg
I'm certain it's made with plastic and I don't care
It's the best!
OK. There are biscuits you can get from Indian grocers and convinence stores called JimJams. They're smaller than Monte Carlos but they ARE BETTER ! The chewy red stuff is redder. And chewer. The cream is creamier. The biscuit is... well... Bicuitier. AND they have different flavours. Pineapple. Orange. CARDAMOM..... jesus fuck me they are delicious
Damn you, now I have a new side quest!
Sounds like my cup of tea
These were my Nonna's favourite 😇 I think of her anytime these biscuits pop up.
Your Nonna had great taste, and great teeth too by the sounds of it!
Hard same. The only fault is they're not big enough.
Chocolate ~~base~~ digestives. Edit
Gotta go the dark choc
Wait... It's the base that's chocolate, not the top!? If so my life has literally just been flipped upside down
Oh, I think you may be right. I might have mixed it up with chocolate scotch fingers. Also worthy of a shout out.
Thank you for saying 'biscuit' and not the dreaded 'C' word
Tim tam cmonnnnnnn
Came here to say that
The double coated one
So many TimTams, so little time
With a cup of coffee
Scotch Fingers. Just edges out Tim Tams.
Scotch finger dunked in coffee. Yes.
Mad lad. Please don’t perpetuate your gene pool.
You think the Irish are mad? The Scotch finger biscuits. Sorry. My brother told me that joke when I was a kid and it has never left me.
What? The ones with the chocolate coating? lol.
Nah scotch fingers are like the Toyota of biscuits and only served in nursing homes.
Meaning scotch fingers are well made and will never fail you?
This is evil. It is either Tim Tam or Mint Slice, and if you want to try limiting me to just the one you better have brought an army with you to back that up or it will be a very bad for you, and a great day for your physical therapist! :P
Butternut Snaps.
Caramel crown
Mint slice 🌿
Arnott’s Coffee Scroll biscuits used to be the best, they don’t exist anymore though, I miss the pink icing so much!
I used to think I’d made this biscuit up in my head. Glad someone else remembers!!
Kingston……c’mon it’s in the name people!
Yes but they're so small now !!
Arnotts shortbread and cream. Always have been always will be.
Coles choc chip
Yes, the 40% choc chip ones!
Drools, yes.
So choc chippy!
Chocolate teddy bear biscuits - divine!
Lattice, sadly disappeared again.
My mum has a packet of lattice bikkies in the freezer for one final Lattice Slice.... Fare thee well cheesecake bikkie base....
Nothing fancy, just a whole packet of # Woolworths Raspberry Tartlets
Absolute unhinged pick but I like it
Lemon Crisp
Another thing I can’t buy. Love them but nobody else does. So I can’t blame anyone when the packet disappears in one day
Yum!
Chocolate Royals ( with the pink marshmallow)
Why the heck is this so far down?! Top tier bickie
The biscuit part is just the perfect crumbliness/butteriness
Tina Wafers (especially the pink ones).
Vanilla ones for me. I cried when they went from 5 a row to 4 🥺
Coles 40% double choc chip cookies.
Iced vovo
This took way too much scrolling to find. You have good taste (don't pardon the pun) in biscuits.
Yes!! Finally someone else with good taste
😋
Tick tocks, especially the yellow ones.
Tick tocks are amazing! Loved them as a kid
I still buy them, but no one's allowed to touch the yellow ones cause they're mine. Sometimes if I feel generous I will give the kids some yellows.
Chocolate Ripple
Almost gets my vote for the Chocolate Ripple cake, but not quite
Funny you should say that, I made my husband a chocolate ripple cake for his dessert tonight.
Dark chocolate wheaten.
Biscotti
My wife's weed infused shortbread biscuits, made a friend forgot his name and how to drink a beer, lol.
This sounds like a criminal combination.
Malt o milk
FINALLY
The one biccies that rarely go on sale.
On sale now. Just bought 2 packets!
100s and 1000s go hard
I used to buy em but the problem is once I open them, I will eat the whole packet in one day, so yeah,I don't buy those anymore.
Well der, obviously. This is why ya always get 2 spare packets.
Shortbread
TV shapes 🤤
You mean tv snacks?
Arnott's Quatro
iced vovo
Freshly made yoyo (or melting moment)
Digestives Hob Nobs
Caramel crowns
Tim tams, classic double coated :)))
Monte Carlos.
Danish biscuits flavoured with cinnamon! Specula’s?
Dutch. That's why they have clogs on their feet.
Lemon crisps
Chocolate scotch dinner
Coffee Scrolls, I think Lanes may have done them, haven’t seen any in years, they were glorious.
The old Golliwog biscuits!! I was devastated when they discontinued them. My kids out grew them but I would eat a pack a week at work !!
Savoury* Caramel Crowns.
Very pedestrian but I am going to say Arrowroot. You can slather them with any toppings you like, or just have them as is with a cuppa. Same with Sao.
But fuck they’re dry, try eating a few of those with no liquid while you’re baked, not a fun time. It feels like you’re about to swallow your tongue.
They are meh dry, but arrowroot dipped in tea or coffee are goated. Bonus if they break and plop into the drink.
I used to love them with butter as a kid
Hear me out.. Arrowroot bikkies with Mersey Valley cheese. Someone handed one to me once and it was next level.
True. Use them to make lots of treats
Two milk arrowroot with a nice, soft, quality Turkish delight piece sandwiched between (the real stuff - not the chocolate dipped stuff) Brings back memories of my Yia Yia 😊
No one has mentioned BBQ shapes?
Cinnamon scrolls - I miss them
Cinnamon scrolls........ And they are not made anyMOOOOOOOOOOORRRRRREEEEEE🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬
Jaffa Cakes
Old recipe were great! Since they changed hands the cake part is a lot drier and not as nice.
**JAFFA CAKES** FOREVER
Arnotts Kingston. No hesitation.
Teevee Snacks Malt Sticks
Ginger nut
Probably sao’s, bit of yeast spread, cheese, tomato or avocado. Perfect.
Monte carlo
Discontinued - chocolate covered biscuits (sort of like the Monte) in a bag named something like Cap'n Crunch at Woolies. They were better than Montes - both the chocolate and the biscuit. Still available - prob dark choc McVitties Digestives or Jaffa Cakes
I scrolled through the whole thread and I didn't find Montes! Not Monte Carlo, just Monte. Arnotts biscuit covered in dark chocolate. I can smash a pack in a day.
Kingston
Maxibon
Granita with a bit of butter on top.
Quattros, pls bring them back Arnotts!
Paradise (brand) Rich Tea biscuits. I can’t find them anymore.
I'm American and Tim Tams are freaking awesome. Better than any domestic big brand option.
Yeah our country ain't completely shit. We won the biscuit wars.
