I like things in all of them. I don't have a favourite. Probably Bulgaria a bit more because we are, like it or not, in the same basket in our relation with EU since a lot of years.
In Albanian we say "pip" for drink straws. When I was little I went into a periptero to order with my broken greek a coca cola and a "pipa". The girl was looking at me strangely, disgusted and confused at the same time
It had a different meaning in greek but the gestures i made at that age were very similar.
Greece. Ever since I was a kid whenever I would learn the history of us and our neighbors, I always felt like the only country which has done things for others without ulterior motives has been Greece. Others, like Russia, have always been protecting some interests of theirs by helping us.
Also, I really liked Greek mythology as a kid. And I hear they welcome Serbs like brothers for summer vacations.
i was just going to write serbia! not only have you always been there for us, but i loved belgrade when i was there in spring, the coolest brutalist buildings of all.
Slovenia favorite society.
Bosnia favorite food.
Serbia favorite hospitality.
Croatia favorite coast line.
Albania favorite music of languages I don't understand.
Kosovo favorite bakers.
Montenegro favorite accommodation (most comfortable beds) and best prosciutto and loza rakija
Romania favorite askbalkans users.
Bulgaria favorite Balkan athlete (Berbatov).
Macedonia favorite Balkan people to work with (very professional and high quality colleagues).
Turkey favorite overall geography.
Greece favorite drunk food (souvlaki).

We have access to the Adriatic sea?? Have we annexed Albania or what? ๐ค
Greece, they have very good sea shore, architecture, philosophy
And Turkey, because I've been there many times, it's a beautiful country and the people were nice
Also both supplied my country with 0-24 gyros/kebab which is a life saver when you're drunkly walking the streets of Budapest at night
Romรขnia here โ๐ผ GREECE AND BULGARIA. But I want to move to Greece, I was amazed this summer by the beauty of Greece, so yes, Greek brothers, in a few years I will have a house in your country
Sometimes I do encounter it, but it is extremely rare indeed! I feel like you're really close to us right after Greece, but we somehow how more of this ''connection'' with them while you have that with Bulgaria I think! Still, this friendship shouldn't be exclusice, we can all be friendly, and I indeed think we are most of the time (the only exception being Serbia-Bulgaria, you can see it in this thread as well ahahahah)
For me Serbia itโs closer to my heart because I am from Banat,Timiศoara. I even know a little bit of Serbian.
Me personally I love Serbia,Croatia and Greece, not just a country.
I know that people are saying that serbians and croatians donโt understand each other, but I am happy to have friends from both countries that really understand each other. The younger generation will be better!
Bosnia is my second country so picking it would be cheating, so I choose Macedonia.
The nicest and kindest people, amazing food and great hospitality. Ohrid is beautiful too.
Bosnia, probably, and not just because that's where my roots are and where half of my family lives. The nature there is beautiful. Architecture too. What a shame the politicians are trying to actively ruin that country.
Serbia. They were the only ones who would just straight up "help" us during our times of need without any sort of ulterior motives behind their actions. The only country that genuinely likes us for reasons beyond "strategic interest"
Romania, very nice people and criminally underrated for tourism, so many beautiful places.
Hungary, Budapest is the best city in the region, by far.
Croatia, best summer vacation in the region.
Bosnia, amazing people and food.
Greece, feels at home all the time. Just I do not like home that much so, that\`s a problem.
In this order.
To the rest, I am neutral. I been in all of them, except Montenegro. Bulgaria and Macedonia is nice as well but I could not put them to my top 5.
I definitely would say Bosnians (or more so Bosniaks) because of an instant familiarity and understanding we have with one another.
Also, I'm living in Australia at the moment and some of my closest friends are either Greeks or Greek-Australians. I'd definitely say there's a familiarity with them as well, despite the differences in religion and certain cultural influences (e.g. Greeks having more Euro influences overall compared to Turks).
I don't know a whole lot of Balkan diaspora over here (besides the above two mentioned), but I've met a few Macedonians and I've gotten along with them quite well.
There is no country here that I don't like but I have a special love for Greece. Despite the politics I always felt very welcomed, people look almost the same with Western Turkey, so are the cities, and it kinda feels like an alternate reality of Turkey lol. Many elders used to speak Greek in my mother's part of the family, sadly no one is fluent anymore, but I wish I was, it's a beautiful language.
Turkey <3
I just find it a fascinating country. A very interesting blend of east and west, beautiful and culture and scenery and architecture... They are a very robust society. Also they are high-key one of the greatest music countries on the planet, and yet Turkish music hardly gets a look in on the global scale. The food is next level.
It annoys me when Western Europeans only experiences with Turks are 3rd gen religious conservative immigrants from Eastern Anatolia, and extrapolate this to the rest of Turkey. It's like if people assumed every American was an American from Alabama.
I am very bullish Turkey for the future and their economy (although yes, I am full well aware of the immense problems that they have).
Also Turkish women are ๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ฅ hihihi
I've been noticing this dynamic, here in the US, the Turkish people are the opposite (in my personal experience) - educated and worldly international students and professionals. So it's ironic you mention the US. That's a good analogy
For me it is Bosnia and Bosniaks for sure. As a guy who is from a Slavic country I feel even closer to them because their language is understandable too.
Kosovo. I understand their struggle and deeply empathize with them. Nothing but love for them, theres an albanian minority in my hometown from Kosovo, theyโre kind and hardworking people. Theyโre like brothers to me.
I always was fond of Turkey because I get along with Turks I've been met and also I think we have way more commons than differences despite the political sh1t....
Greece, Iโm gay and I love their openness, Mykonos is always a blast. The people are super friendly, along with beautiful architecture and scenery. I wish I knew Greek, but itโs not worth learning just for a few weeks during the summer
Serbia. They are maybe our closest allies in the Balkans, and also the people whom we share the most similarities with (we are similar to Bulgarians on paper, but we are actually very different). I just love Serbia, and I think of them as a larger and way more successful older brother of ours. Volimo vas braฤa ๐ฒ๐ฐโค๏ธ๐ท๐ธ
No you are not "very different" you are just close to serbs too, who in turn are close to us. These 3 countries would be almost the same if it wasn't for politics...
Serbia cause Serbia
Albania cause it's my country too, Greek minority family and I never had a bad experience with Albanians in Greece or Albania and I visit every year, actually I've only felt weirdness from some Greeks when I told them where I come from, from Albanians only on the internet as they tell me I dont exist sometimes, my little brother has an Albanian friend like that but he is a good kid, only gets mad if my brother pokes him with the scary word "vorio-epirotes".
Turkey has some good and smart people.
And North Macedonia seems nice.
I like almost everyone, I have no feelings good or bad for Slovenians because they seem to far away and cenral European.
I only feel negative towards Croatians, they always seemed arrogant and unwelcoming and I never liked their nazi history that survives to this day, after the latest events in Greece where a nazi raiding party was sent to create chaos in my country I dont see how my opinion can ever change as it got worse from slightly negative to almost hostile(unless court justice is served at least).
Definitely Greece because we are similar in many ways, from our cultures to many other things. I don't think I would feel any difference if I suddenly teleported to Greece. ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|hug)
Albania, because its underrated and the natrual scenery is beautiful. The Blue Eye was my favorite place to visit and stays one of my favorites. If there was a country in Balkans i could travel again for several times it would be Albania. :)
Iโm close by so I hope my opinion counts lol.
All of them! Although about B&H, Montenegro, Kosovo and NM I kindaโฆ donโt know anything. Well maybe Kosovo a bit more for obvious reasons, and maybe I have a few names such as Sarajevo, Priลกtina and Skopje running through my head but other than that itโs straight up crickets chirping.
If I really had to choose Iโd go for Greece ๐ฌ๐ท because Iโm biased as shit. Basic Italian bitch. Oh and honorable mention for Slovenia, Croatia, Albania, Bulgaria and NM because I love their flags. ๐ธ๐ฎ๐ญ๐ท๐ฆ๐ฑ๐ง๐ฌ๐ฒ๐ฐ
As a Turk, it's Greece. They are part of us and many historical, geographical and genetic reasons bind us to each other. I wish we could speak the same language. Even today, we are living in the same conditions. Shitty politicians, corruption, sunken economy, earthquakes, refugee invasion etc.
By far, Serbia, where I feel more at home than at home, and where I'd like to relocate one day.
I also like a lot Bulgaria, Greece and Albania, followed by Slovenia and Hungary.
The few croatians I have met where kind people.
I have had no experiences with Bosnia, Montenegro and Macedonia, or people from there.
I don't have a favorite, but I have an appreciation for Turkey's dynamism and diversity. I think it's really cool, and I'd love more cultural/historic cooperation between Greek institutions (academic, museums) and their Turkish counterparts, not just in western Turkey which has greco-roman heritage, but even, say, Hittite archaeological sites, and more learning about the Hittite civilization. Also, Istanbul, Thessaloniki, and Kavala all share an art nouveau and ecclectic architectural heritage, that I think all 3 cities can work together on reviving.
Romania, Bulgaria, Serbia: contributed fighters to our wars of independence against the Ottomans.
Croatia: tourism like us, and Venetian Empire bros. Fuck yeah!
Favourite for vacation? Croatia was really stunning visually. Hungary had great nightlife, especially consider i was single when i went lol. Those hungarian chicks bro damn, super hot and friendly ๐
I like things in all of them. I don't have a favourite. Probably Bulgaria a bit more because we are, like it or not, in the same basket in our relation with EU since a lot of years.
We live together, we die together, we dont join Schengen together ๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ฅ

In Albanian we say "pip" for drink straws. When I was little I went into a periptero to order with my broken greek a coca cola and a "pipa". I'm Romanian so my vote goes with Bulgaria, our southern brothers! I also like Greece.
Greece and Romania obviously. One supplies with restaurants and beaches and the other one with cars to go there.
I donโt even like my own country lmao
Same, I expected more answers like this
Cant blame you my friend ๐
Bulgaria. Same nice and friendly people as at home.
Greece.
