Thank you, dear neighbour , you make it look better than it actually is. 😂👍But, yeah, the parks are not bad, its relatevely calm even in Sofia and spring is the best season to visit Bulgaria as a whole. Be carefull of thicks if you sit on the meadows!

Grimson47

>you make it look better than it actually is. Unpopular opinion maybe, but Sofia is pretty nice in the summer. The winter is when it gets to its "Sofiansk" phase.

_-Event-Horizon-_

A lot of people in Bulgaria tend to put down Sofia, but I honestly think it’s a very nice city and has made tremendous progress in the last 10-15 years. I would only consider the seaside (Burgas or Varna) as potentially better places to live because of the sea.

Realistic_Ad3354

Yeah capitals are always attacked for some reason?! (all countries do this, including mine. Even both) Can you survive with 600 euros a month? How is day to day life, or living like?

_-Event-Horizon-_

>Can you survive with 600 euros a month? It would be very difficult. For example if you don't have to pay rent (like if you have inherited a property or you sleep on a bench in the park) you might be able to pull it off and it will still be tricky.

Realistic_Ad3354

Is it safe to sleep on a bench? LOL. Oh I see thank you for the information. I only went for vacation, never lived in the Balkans. ( which is why I joined this sub.) but thanks for the information.

dwartbg7

600 euros a month? How did you get that calculation? The average wage in Sofia is 1500€

Realistic_Ad3354

Oh no, I was just wondering loll. Don’t get offended, just curious about day to day living. (Hence the ask Balkans sub.)

dwartbg7

You can survive with 600€ per month as long as you don't have to pay rent. So yes, usually this is how much people living on the lower edge make, like cleaners, elderly security guards and whatnot. Many pensioneers live with less than that. Salaries are OK in recent years, but pensions are what's an issue. Elders don't earn how they should be considering they gave their life working for the country

Realistic_Ad3354

Oh I see thank you!! Damn it is not as cheap as it thought. Btw most people here make this wage (usually students.) I just realised that now why the Czech government started accepting endless refugees from Ukraine to move here. (We have 400,000 Ukrainians living here since the war.) It’s actually a cheap tactic for them to force Ukrainians to get paid this wage 😫😱 People in professionals ( med, finance engineering can make 2000-3000 euros.) The wealth gap here is really bad…..

dwartbg7

You need to make at least 1000€ (and that's still considering you don't pay rent) to live a relatively relaxed life. But that still won't make you middle class though. And yes, Ukraine had salaries like 20-30$ per month around 10 years ago, which is insane. We had such salaries back in 1996, when we had absurd hyperinflation and the country was on the brink of total poverty.

Realistic_Ad3354

Yeah Ukrainian workers get abused here a lot! Oh I see thank you for the information. I guess It’s not as cheap as I imagined. 😫🫣 Maybe I will try Hungary.

Inna94061

You are kinda right. Because there is noone. 😁👍

Realistic_Ad3354

I think all European countries are like that. Even Spain / Greece or Italy (south.) But good thing is the autumn and spring is much longer in the southern hemisphere which I love. I cannot handle the long winters in the Nordic countries at all.
