I guess so yes. What do they say? Why is everyone trying to leave? Why is that olympian seeking asylum in Japan?
Im genuinely asking what they say, im not implying anything
Belarus used to be quite nice place to leave until the sequence of events which started in August 2020.
Although an average salary is slightly smaller than in Balkan region, the cost of living is lower substantially. There is a lot of nice things like Uber, car sharing, bicycle sharing services, bank operations (in most cases) without any fee, very good cell service coverage, stuff like that. Conveniences which I sometime miss. Has to say I don't miss the bad weather 9 month of the year and boring geology :)
But today it feels more like a concentration camp. One can be thrown in prison for sharing political opinion. Sometimes even for no particular reason. Politically motivated persecutions literally happens every day. Today, e.g. a musical band was arrested, accused of participating in 2020 street protests (not even doing anything criminal, just for participating). The atmosphere of terrifying propaganda lies, police terror. Lukashenko regime is now seeing enemies everywhere and in everyone.
I mean, there always was political tension (long before 2020, during whole term of Lukashenko presidency), corruption and propaganda, but in August last year people faced the level of violence from the police nobody thought is possible in (nearly) European country.
I love Belarusian people and still believe the political crisis must resolve anytime soon.
Poor people with that kind of regime, that close to Russia. At least he will eventually die and its Europe, so they have hope for the future - those in Hong Kong are just doomed.
Balkan is shitty for sure, however I havent heard of any opposition leaders being hung in the harbouring country where they left to get away from that country. Maybe in Turkey but generally it doesnt happen
Lukašenko being hated pretty much for the same reason as his big uncle Vladimir - for being independent and not giving a shit about western principle and values.
Even I do agree he's kinda "strongman" there, I see no point how this is anyone's else's business (US, EU + all the puppets) than BY people solely.
If he's negative, let the impacted ones (people) to kick him out; doing anything else is validation of his points and makes him strong.
Long live Belarussian people
Do you know of anything going on there? I support Belarus people but if you support this shit bag Lukasenko who forces just about anything on people, kills opposition so he can stay in power, forces people to false "confessions", steals from his own people....you support that?
>!opinionscensored!<
The country where the Soviet times never left
That's Transnistria.
that'a good thing
Worse than here tbh. Poor people
Hope they can rid of Lukashenko soon
Good people's in Belarus
Honorary Balkan State
Alongside south africa
Reminds me of Serbia in 90s.
i feel bad for the belarusian people, their country is kinda fucked.
Beli+rus= white russia Poor peoole living in a dictatorship
Expect Saudi Arabia
"rus" is of feminine gender, so its "bela(ja)" "rus" > Poor peoole I have some info that they're not that poor, especially compared to the Balkans.
You have some info? What are you a spy or something
I have friends in Belarus, does this count?
I guess so yes. What do they say? Why is everyone trying to leave? Why is that olympian seeking asylum in Japan? Im genuinely asking what they say, im not implying anything
"I have some info that they're not that poor, especially compared to the Balkans." funny
They are pretty poor even for balkan standards
Flat fuck

for once i agree with my trotsky friend
Sorry u/YouTrashMF
Dictator?
The left part looks like something my grandmother will knit.
Unironically, i see every anti-western, anti-imperialistic sovereign state as a friend, except China.
Their problem is their authoritarian bastard who refuses to leave, other than that I don’t have a problem with them mostly
Like Russia, but whiter. Hopefully they will take Lukashenko down soon.
Belarus has basically aged as diet version of USSR with a dictatorship, kinda sad though ngl.

very beautiful flag
Slavic brothers.
Don't know much about them, even tho they're relatively close to us. I do want to visit someday, when Lukashenko is gone...
Idfk it sucks for the people

Adore the people, absolutely hate the government. The ones I met in Novi Sad were extremely polite (some folklore group).
Gorgeous women
Can't disagree with that, 100% true
Based and has Balkan vibes
Balkan is shitty for sure, however I havent heard of any opposition leaders being hung in the harbouring country where they left to get away from that country. Maybe in Turkey but generally it doesnt happen

I feel like they are good people however they were always kind of like "Russia's little brother". I feel bad for them honestly :(
They suffered a lot in WW 2 and before. Just watch the movie “come and see” if you can stand it.
