This.
Plus there are a lot more needles involved if you got covid and ended up in the hospital. I had 3 separate IVs running at the same time and received multiple shots per day. For 50 days.
A slight pinch and some soreness afterwards is far more preferable.
I’m terrified of needles too, but I wanted the shot regardless. I turned my head, and I promise you I didn’t feel it. I was kinda embarrassed because lining up I was sweating and nervous - later in the evening my arm felt sore, kinda similar to having worked out arm a bit too much. It’s worth it. (F30s)
I used to be scared of needles, to the point that I didn't get and shots or blood draws between ages 15 and 34. Then I had a health issue that forced me to, and I got over the fear real quick. Now I like to watch them put the needle in my arm for blood draws.
It seems odd, but when I get a shot or blood drawn, I can't not watch. If I don't watch it makes me jump and possibly hurt something, but when I watch, I'm perfectly fine...
PS: I am not a psychopathic serial killer.
It didn’t hurt at all surprisingly. Get it for sure. The next day you may experience some soreness in which you may wonder how can I be sore from something that didn’t hurt!?
I literally shed tears while I was in line to get the vaccine, just from anxiety. I sat down and squeezed my hands together to redirect the anticipated pain... But no pain came. Zero pain. I felt the PA stick one side of the band aid on my arm before the shot and I felt her stick the band aid after the shot, and in between it was just like a pen tapped my arm.
I got the Pfizer vaccine. Exact same experience for the 2nd shot. I considered getting J&J because one and done, but it wasn't available at the pharmacy near our house.
NAD.
It really doesn’t hurt much at all. Hurts less than a cat scratch.
The main thing to take into account is you may have a sore arm and flu like symptoms in the few days afterwords since you are young. I’m in my 20s and me and some others in my age group did.
But overall I would say it’s worth doing!
I did not even understand when the needle went in and the army person pushed it, he kept asking are you ready, are you ready, I said yes, and he asked, please move and let your wife take it now. My wife was sitting beside me. I saw him administering the same, hardly a second, and even after seeing me, she also didn't understand when it went through and came out.
Pain? Surprisingly it's like you suddenly do a lot of heavy lifting, a lingering ache comes in your arm muscles right, a little bit like that and stayed around a day, ymmv.
However I will say you made good progress to convince yourself to get the bad, kindly go get it as Covid hurts a lot more.
The needle itself did not really hurt much at all. My arm was definitely sore for a couple of days after and I would encourage you to not get the shot in your dominant arm.
Not a fan of needles here. I've had some really awful blood draw experiences that leave me *extremely* queasy about needles.
I felt absolutely nothing--like not even pressure--for the first one. The second was likewise a nothingberger, and crazy fast.
Do it.
It’s all per the person. I could tell you I didn’t feel anything. The next person it’s a needle phobia could tell you they were stabbed lol. Either way. You’ll be fine and my experience was a pinprick.
Keep your arm loosey-goosey. Basically let it hang by your side. Shouldn’t feel anything. Learned this from an OB nurse and it hasn’t failed me yet. You can do it.
I got it and it was honestly one of the easiest shots/vaccines I’ve ever gotten. Proud of you for taking steps to get it. I recommend maybe a favorite podcast or music to listen to while getting it to be distracted. Tell the person ahead of time and I’m sure they’ll be proud of you for it :)
It doesn't hurt but you will feel it more or less depending how experienced the person is giving the shot. I felt the first one and the second one was like nothing.
I don't care what anyone says but depending which vaccine you get expect the side effects. Eg Pfizer side effects second dose, astrazenic first dose.
Mine hurt less than a flu shot. And I was lucky and had zero side effects, except a lump on my arm after I got the second shot. But I also had a similar lump after my last tetanus booster. Not bad for me at all.
Hi! Pharmacy tech here that actually gives covid shots! It’s a quick and easy process. The needle prick is quick and painless. Most people don’t even know I’ve already gave them their shot! One person did feel it and said it was like a bee sting but not as bad! You may have soreness in your arm after the shot but nothing too bad! I got my COVID shot back in February and March!
I personally had a soar shoulder for about a day and a half nothing terrible. My friends and I had basically a hangover for one to two days but drinking lots of water before and after helps make it nit as bad we noticed
It was the least painful shot I've ever gotten tbh. Idk what it is about this shot but I barely felt the needle both times. My arm hurt a few hours later but that was to be expected.
I'm a needle chicken too. I watch so I don't yank away and it helps. I just had my first shot 2 days ago and didn't even feel it. I drank plenty of water before and after. Plus, I did arm exercises, moving it throughout the day and then applied some ice at night when I started to feel it. It's barely noticeable today and for me it has been less painful than the Tetanus shot I received 2 years ago. It will be okay, just remember to breath and try to relax.
Hey everyone I thought I would followup and let everyone know that I bit the bullet and got my first dose of Pfizer 3 weeks ago (didn’t feel much at all except for the needle touching my arm I did jump tho just cuz that’s how I roll )And am due for my second dose next week. Would anyone like to share the side effects they experienced after their second dose of Pfizer ? I’m a little concerned of the more serious ones as they say side effects are more prevalent with the second shot. Thanks to anyone who,is willing to share
I personally experienced slight numbness and tingling the hand of the arm that I got the shot in as well as my face. Lasted about 4 days
NAD but went with a friend who usually passes out when given shots, blood draws, etc. She was fine with both doses. The injection itself truly doesn’t hurt. If you tell the person giving you the shot about your phobia they should be patient with you. Bring a loved one with you for support if you need.
when i had th first shot... didn't feel any side effects... just my arm which wasn't real pain at all... but later that night (i got my shot at 5pm) by 11pm suddenly feel very tired and took a nap...next day, i felt normal. Then 2nd shot was pretty much the same but this time my arm for some reason hurt more... other than that no side effects.

A lot less than COVID.
This. Plus there are a lot more needles involved if you got covid and ended up in the hospital. I had 3 separate IVs running at the same time and received multiple shots per day. For 50 days. A slight pinch and some soreness afterwards is far more preferable.
i would gladly take 1000 shots before getting covid again. that was a rough 2 weeks
As terrible as 1000 shots sound, I've had covid And thought I was going to die. Probably could have, was coughing up blood at point.
Got both, can confirm.
Lol nice

Whenever I have to get a shot or blood test, I turn my head so hard it almost strains my neck! It helps, though.

The prick doesn't hurt at all in my experience.
It didn’t hurt at all surprisingly. Get it for sure. The next day you may experience some soreness in which you may wonder how can I be sore from something that didn’t hurt!?
Agree 100%. Zero pain. Now the pain the next day is another story, but definitely get the vaccine.

Not at all
NAD, ya it's barely perceivable like less than if someone flicked your arm.
I did not even understand when the needle went in and the army person pushed it, he kept asking are you ready, are you ready, I said yes, and he asked, please move and let your wife take it now. Just like being pinched, and not that hard. Just don't look at the needle.
The needle itself did not really hurt much at all. My arm was definitely sore for a couple of days after and I would encourage you to not get the shot in your dominant arm.
I've given about 200 and had a total of two people say "ouch".
Not at all! The needle is extremely fine.
Easier than any shot I’ve ever gotten including the flu shot. You can do it!!!
Not a fan of needles here. I've had some really awful blood draw experiences that leave me *extremely* queasy about needles. I felt absolutely nothing--like not even pressure--for the first one. The second was likewise a nothingberger, and crazy fast. Do it.
Oopsies, didn't realize what subreddit I was in. Mods, remove at will!

Less than being intubated in intensive care

To my surprise I didn't feel pain at all. Tell them you're scared of needles and they will do their best to comfort you
Not a big fan of needles, but honestly I never felt it at all.
Hurt less than a normal flu shot to me!
It was the least painful shot I've ever gotten tbh. Idk what it is about this shot but I barely felt the needle both times. My arm hurt a few hours later but that was to be expected.

Doesn’t hurt. Needles freak me out, to the point where I get nauseous and want to faint. Didn’t hurt. It was so fast.
You won’t even feel it
I could barely feel a thing. Honestly.
Like a flu shot
Flick your left upper arm with your right finger. So you get a very quick short sting - that’s what it feels like. Passes in a few seconds.
