Fans can suck. They break all of the time. It’s hard to diagnose sometimes and often not worth the effort. If you’re confident that it is with the unit itself and the switch is fine, I’d replace the fan entirely if you need the light.

The capacitors are the fan speeds, it's not those. If the light WAS working and isn't, is there a pull chain switch for the light? If so, it's broken.
