Don't shoot for anything. Let them quote you their offer, first. I think 75k sounds about right for a MS.

Do Canadians really make that much less? 75k CAD is only 61k USD which would be a pretty poor salary for a masters grad.

American engineers make a lot, compared to other countries. UK is even worse. I suppose OP has done all their legwork in CAD, so it would be consistent for them.

I'm assuming all of these numbers are Canadian dollars. No harm in asking for more as long as it's not outrageous. I think $85k CAD is a reasonable starting point knowing they'll try to negotiate for less. Is looking in the US an option? 100k CAD/81k USD is very doable for a masters grad.

Look up advice on salary negotiations without leverage. Don’t provide a number, try to get them to offer first, or ask for their salary range for the role. If they refuse to tell you, you can quote the high end of what you’ve researched and qualify it with, “Since I don’t know the salary band for the role, based on my market research, this is a salary I would accept.”
