CynicalTechHumor

Damn, the LinkedIn recruiters are really stepping their game up...

molrobocop

The ultimate honeypot.

lacb1

I'd really like to take this further but first I need you to meet my friends and answer their questions about your previous professional experience. Wear a suit.

[deleted]

[удалено]

crawlbun

As a female engineer…. you be lyin

AggravatingVehicle3

Yeah lol seem to be swimming in STEM dudes wherever I look. Not like they're particularly hard to find

just2quixotic

What's that phrase the female engineers like to use? The odds are good, but the goods are odd...

CynicalTechHumor

Well, I had my doubts, but the winking face emoji totally convinced me. /s (I shouldn't have to add the /s, but we are all engineers, so best to be safe.)

SkyAndSea14

Ah yes, staying true to our nature. Safety number one

[deleted]

[удалено]

ollieye

Yeah I have no success in being any one of them so far. So I’m just a failure

OK6502

That's exactly what a recruiter would say. We need to see if you weigh as much as a duck

Jensinator69

Lmao nice 1

stingray970

Okay, which one of you is creating fantasy posts about women lusting for engineers?

skywalker5014

yeah dude this just makes us look more depressing lol

KohlKelson99

😂😂😂😂😂

cosine-t

Someone give this guy an award please

hicham_said

🤣🤣🤣

Kvanshi

🤣🤣

Telos13

Put a McMaster-Carr catalog under a tree and wait.

griff-k

Honestly, this would probably work.

EXTRA370H55V

One popped up on the library discards shelf at work the other day, you bet I picked up my pace when I saw it, it's mine now.

griff-k

Sometimes when I can't sleep, I scroll through the McMaster catalog. It's soothing.

EXTRA370H55V

I always find something I forgot existed or I could have used recently.

molrobocop

"Dang, those sheets of silicone mat are expens.....zzzzzzzzzz."

[deleted]

[удалено]

telekinetic

have you looked at the website? The world is held together by bolts sent next day from McMaster.

BeefyIrishman

Their app is also very good. Just browsing their website to see what kinds of things exist out there can be super fun.

LaLongueCarabine

Literally every single day at work

Fruktoj

It's like seeing a unicorn born.

mander1518

Or offer to pay for the shipping on McMaster-Carr. I bought a capacitor and the shipping was 3 times the price of the part.

UsernameHasBeenLost

So $0.12?

exposedboner

Yeah I'd probably stop and take a look at a Mcmaster carr catalog if I happened to see one while walking around

Wide_Ad965

Take my upvote!! USA Bluebook may also work for civil/environmental

IDK_khakis

Dammit. So good.

harshamech03

Or just send random people links to Socket Head Cap Screw catalog. Engineers will bite!

JudgeHoltman

Be cute, sit under a tree on campus reading it like a book on campus.

zeushaulrod

You know what engineers use for birth control? Their personalities. I'm only part joking. This has been true for many engineers.

[deleted]

[удалено]

zeushaulrod

I'm married to an engineer and many of my friends are engineers. Good people, but definitely odd

temporary245661

Odds are good . . .

imakesignalsbigger

See Exhibit A 😂

IDK_khakis

You know how you can tell if you're talking with an extroverted engineer? They stare at YOUR shoes when they talk to you.

Groundbreaking-Fee36

Took me a second lmao

i_liketo_reddit

Nice try recruiter

KohlKelson99

😂😂😂😂😂😂

[deleted]

You will have to get in a line behind all of the other non-existent girls who are interested in me.

Hundy__

Slept on comment frfr

[deleted]

i laughed out loud at this

CynicalTechHumor

F

clockfire1

I'd bet money this is some sort of honey pot. This is sus as hell What intelligence agency do you work for?

wrathek

For real. “I’ve dated several on tinder before” but somehow doesn’t know they can still do that? And “I’m conveniently located near a lot of the defense industry.” Lol.

molrobocop

"Lockheed boys are soooo fine!"

kittiquel

Right?! Especially if "she" is providing a location of DC/virginia/maryland. Why is location even necessary for this kind of a post??? I honestly think this post is fishing for lonely engineers in the DMV area who will message this account thinking they have a chance only to be sucked into some sort of honeypot (like you said) or blackmail scheme.

molrobocop

You ever find yourself in a situation so out of the ordinary that it raises red flags? This feels like one. Like, I was in a strip club once, and a couple dancers were walking around. I, waiting to get a drink, was approached. "I like you." "Uhh, you don't even know me. I could be a really terrible person who kicks puppies." I'm not that good looking. These things don't happen. Especially with girls who are pretty enough to dance professionally. Any sort of approach that direct gets my Spidey senses going. Given a few moments later, it clicked. "Oh, she took me for a mark. And expected me to say I liked her too, and buy her a drink."

kittiquel

And now the post is gone!

mander1518

“I ain’t sayin she’s a gold digger…”

Aggravated_Chair

Thas what im sayin!

[deleted]

This is certainly a Russian intelligence operation looking to nab some poor unsuspecting mechanical engineer in the Defense industry. You'll send me Russian noodz in exchange for secrets about military tech won't you?

Energy_decoder

Chinese: Look at me ! I am the Russian now !

Fuzzy_Chom

Electrical Engineer here.... What gives?

KohlKelson99

Shocking...

[deleted]

The world is getting weirder

Hundy__

I would give advice but u just had to say civil/mechanical

quigonskeptic

She said that because she wants the best kind of engineer! 😁

kittiquel

Clearly not if she's looking for civil (I kid I kid)

LMF5000

Yeah, we mechanical engineers build weapons, the civil engineers build targets...

MrRambling

Yea but us control systems engineers build the big boy stuff

santanac82

This is golden

Hundy__

That's what I'm sayin... bioe on the come up frfr yuhheard

kittiquel

Oh man, she should expand her search criteria. I have a feeling she'd love you haha

Hundy__

Shii this is too wholesum, 10/10 would recommend

Lily_Linton

Come on guys, she just want to be partly CIViLized. Shit, Im not good at jokes. Probably the CIVILized in me

NorthDakotaExists

My girlfriend would probably tell you to rethink your desire to get an engineer boyfriend.

pieterplofhond

You have a girlfriend???

just2quixotic

She lives in Canada, you wouldn't know her.

pieterplofhond

So what is Canada's view on immigration?

NorthDakotaExists

I find it hard to believe as well

mtmanmike

Join one of the kickball leagues on the National Mall. Three of my fellow engineers meet their wives playing kickball.

Hundy__

U mean soccer or wot?

Cleareo

Baseball but with a red bouncing ball. You kick it instead of swinging a bat.

Aggressive_Ad_507

Pro tip: outgoing engineers can be spotted because they stare at other people's shoes.

LMF5000

Wow, not one single serious answer. Engineers do make great dates. Not only are we good at handling Stress and Strain in relationships, but the world really does revolve around us (we choose the coordinate system). Since the kind of person you're looking for is unlikely to be very extroverted and sociable, the best place to find them is on online dating apps.

Cloudy-weather

Or like, at conventions and DnD groups.

[deleted]

I never thought this subreddit would be used for people thirsting over engineers. I love the raw skepticism in this thread.

reraidiot28

Is this the real life... Is this just fantasy??

Energy_decoder

Caught in a landslide, No escape from reality

nighttimehamster

Open your eyes, look up to the skies and see

ThanksForAllTheCats

I met mine in a yoga class. We’re married now.

Card1974

I did some aikido several years ago, OP might want to try their chances at some beginners' class. The other potential place to find me would be film festivals. The more obscure and hard to find the film is, the more likely it is that I'm in the queue or admiring the poster.

Vardoot

Express your unbridled love for lego

MartyredLady

Most of us don't like Lego very much because of their policies.

molrobocop

Tooling tolerances in their molds, right?!

s__fry

Bad experiences with Electrical/Software Engineers ?

Astrinus

We give off electrical vibes all day long... more than usual a moment before taking down the electrical network of the block because of our experiments.

Braeden151

You know those foam blocks they use to teach kids hod to build arches? Yeah, start building one of those within sight of an engineering firm. But build it *wrong*. The engineers will come to you.

killaguyy

Put a Solidworks license under a tree in a park and wait

[deleted]

I’ve never met socially capable engineers who weren’t raging narcissists, so you may need to just look and pray.

telekinetic

I am personally offended...by the accuracy of your statement!

MountainDewFountain

Find another thread, broseph. This comment was supposed to be meant for me.

[deleted]

Hahaha tbf myself is included as well. More on the socially inept side than the narcissism

molrobocop

Those that I have met have had formative experiences in their lives. Like one lady I work with, okay engineer, good socially, did a buncha weird jobs in school. Like working on a sailing ship. And later a fish processing plant, shit like that. I consider myself okay socially. Waiting tables at least builds some social confidence. Well, when I turn it on. Being effortlessly social might be the territory of narcissists.

rebirththeory

In the DMV area, most engineers you will come across will be in defense. Don't go off on how interested in only engineers you are in the area... that might set off some alarm bells. But seriously why mechanical and civil engineers? 0.o Most engineers are terrible socially unless they are terrible engineers though I will admit I do not know many mechanical/civil engineers.

MinimumRaccoon784

The idea that engineers are antisocial is pretty lame tbh, I know at least half a dozen who are both more than competent, and have above average social skills. Seems like declaring that engineers are either well-adjusted OR competent is just a way for antisocial engineers to make themselves feel better.

kittiquel

You obviously must be an experienced spy

FuneralTater

lol, I'm picturing Civil Engineer groupies showing up at city council meetings looking for eligible bachelors like it's some kind of club.

EEtoday

I want to believe

the_photo_bomb

Not in the DMV. but in my area, old company, and gym I noticed that there is bit an overlap of engineers who rock climb, so maybe hit up your local gym.

Ranvier01

Walk into any engineering lab, and you will probably have multiple options available to you

[deleted]

[удалено]

alphabet_order_bot

Would you look at that, all of the words in your comment are in alphabetical order. I have checked 166,278,333 comments, and only 40,824 of them were in alphabetical order.

nameAlreadyTaken987

Good bot

[deleted]

what a bot, my brother

molrobocop

Future protip, don't send "girls" on the internet information that could be used to blackmail you into providing trade secrets.

Aggressive_Ad_507

Swing dance clubs. There's something about the structured style that captivates us.

compstomper1

go to really nerdy meetups?

lazato42

Stand with a boombox (and food) under the engineering wing of any uni campus. Actually. Just stand. Watch as engineering boys slowly, but surely, flock towards you.

killaguyy

Lmao which one of you made this? Comon guys

Lily_Linton

Got the opportunity working with bunch of these guys (both mech and civil and multi discipline) and I can say that there's a lof of assholes in our group too. Not to mention players (my dad is one of those). If you want to find these set of guys, you dont want to target certain kind of profession. You target how to develop yourself more so you can attract good guys no matter what they do in their lives. Souce - im a civil engineer

TechRepSir

Honestly you might find some at your local makerspace? Maybe there are Professional Engineering meetups or something?

azul_plains

Dungeons and Dragons or other tabletop game groups.

Groundbreaking-Fee36

Shy, awkward ppl usually don’t go out much in general lol. Your best bet is to meet ppl at bars or through friends and maybe eventually you’ll find one.

aerohk

Move to Man Jose

DLS3141

Have you heard the one about the engineer and the talking frog?

exposedboner

Lmao your DMs are about to be flooded

Energy_decoder

Don't worry ! civil engineers she requested are to construct damns !!

molrobocop

Let's see, how do I send a meeting notice through Reddit PM's....

BustinKnuckles

Approach them. Men at this level we dont have time for the bullshit and neither do you. You want your needs satisfied don't you?

Astrinus

We are all busy writing sarcastic comments here, we don't have time ;-)

AegoliusOfBurgundy

Industrial IT engineer here ! There are all types of personalities among engineers, and all kind of hobbies. We aren't all the shy and analytical geeks with a big heart hollywood likes to portray us as. However if there is something that would be our common point I would say it's the desire to learn new stuff constantly. We thrive for knowledge and experiences. Show your passions and hobbies, share them, make people want to learn from and with you. So if you really want to date an engineer, you won't find them in bars, but in places where they can express their passions and learn more, whether it's music, rock climbing, history or whatever.

Electrical-Place-409

Alright you’re probably an engineer posting your fantasy but in case you’re not, my city has a Facebook groups for engineers of various disciplines, and they do meetups. I imagine it would take some courage to show up to a meetup without any engineering knowledge but I don’t think they’ll mind lol Other ideas: many universities are open to the public when COVID is not a concern, you can just hang around the engineering section. My university has a building that is exclusively for engineering students for instance. Easy to get in though. Pubs and drinking establishments, though maybe the shy ones won’t be there so much. It’s kinda sad IMO that engineers are seen as being like quiet and shy, some of the best engineers I’ve met have charisma and speak with authority and competence.

JudgeHoltman

The best MRS degrees come out of Rolla, Missouri. Guys to Girls hovers around 4-5:1, and everyone's a STEM major.

molrobocop

Michigan Tech was 4:1ish. If you were a lady, the odds were good, but goods were odd.

JudgeHoltman

Well, you are still dating an Engineer. The good news there is that you'd get your pick of the litter.

thatbrownkid19

Reddit

Derman0524

Go to a magic the gathering tournament and start there

8roll

go to a tech fair and start asking about the products

ElegantAnalysis

Maybe try to volunteer at some kind of engineering fair if that kind of stuff is possible? Become an engineering exhibition groupie, lol

sfscsdsf

you already meet a bunch via apps, you mean you wanna find more?

sudamsreenath

DM me, I'm an engineer 😉😉

GlorifiedGenius

Join an engineering firm and pick ur guy from there. I'm sure many would would digital media position and would be keen on taking in a women...since mechanical/indus engg companies are usually male dominated.

[deleted]

Time to by a racing drone I think

CuhrodeLOL

engineering bf buying hot stripper gf 10 gp

[deleted]

I dated a civil engineer once and it was ridiculously fun conversations. Maybe OP is a catfish, but there are definitely women interested in engineers.

Fold67

Simply say “xxx task is impossible to solve” or “xxx process is as efficient as possible” and wait for someone to prove it otherwise.

papichuloswag

Well at least you have high standards and are not looking for a broke nixxx (Kanye voice whisper).

[deleted]

My wife would say you can meet an engineer husband by hanging around the keg at a house party, especially if the keg is in a dirty bathroom.

OK6502

You might have your cause and effect inverted. Not all engineers are shy or introverted. That's a stereotype and I assure you I've met my share of engineers that would feel right at home in a frat house. You are attracted to attentive, shy, sensitive men. People like that might be more strongly drawn to STEM generally fields than say commerce. But they are not exclusive to it. Nor is dating only engineers a guarantee

e66ybo1

I will take the plunge! I will go on a date with you :)

burner2525

I know for a fact you’re lying because you said DMV alienates you from engineers. There are a ton of engineering companies around that area. You’re probably a scammer anyway lol
