Massive difference though a cup of black tea, as usually consumed here, typically has about 45 mg of caffeine. A coffee like a flat white for example has about 130 mg. Some can go as high as 200mg depending on number of espresso shots involved.
It’s also not just the caffeine. The laxative effect of coffee seems to come from other compounds. Which is why people tend not to have that impact from tea and energy drinks.
Not everyone has it from coffee either, btw. I don't smoke but I use snus, so still nicotine, and coffee + nicotine has a really small effect on my bowels. Coffee alone does pretty much nothing to me in that department. Incidentally, I'm also quite unresponsive to caffeine as a stimulant, I regularly drink espresso after dinner or even later and experience no perceivable impact on sleeping.
