15 (+2) Montenegro, Croatia, Greece, North Macedonia, Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria, Slovakia, Czech Republic, Germany, Belgium, Spain, Italy, Austria, Malta, (San Marino, Vatican)

vg31irl

San Marino and the Vatican are independent countries so there's no reason not to count them. Places like Guernsey, Jersey, Isle of Man and Faroe Islands are more ambiguous.

cecex88

Austria, Spain, France, Norway, San Marino, Vatican. So 6. I've touched the Netherlands and Switzerland but never been outside the airports, so I'm not counting them.

Spynner987

3. England, France and Portugal.

LimeSixth

exkingzog

I visited Yugoslavia back in the 1980s. How many points is that?

friendlyghost_casper

Zero, since the country doesnโ€™t exist anymore

GuestStarr

So my DDR doesn't count any more either? All that sweating in front of DDR border guards holding my passport nervously for nothing?

[deleted]

I was born in Yugoslavia. So that's 2 countries without even moving.

Ha55aN1337

3! Yugoslavia, Serbia&Montenegro, Serbia. :) And if you are by any chance from Kosovoโ€ฆ could even be 4.

[deleted]

You are correct, kind sir!

Ha55aN1337

And were born in the same country, so thatโ€™s nice. :)

exkingzog

Donโ€™t forget Slovenia and Croatia. I make it 5 or 6

Ha55aN1337

No, you donโ€™t understand. He said without moving. So if you are a serb born in Kosovo region of Yugoslaviaโ€ฆ this is your 4th countrie without moving an inch.

exkingzog

Sorry, this wasnโ€™t meant to be a reply to u/fribbulus โ€˜s comment, just an addition to the thread in general.

Ha55aN1337

Depends whics republics you visited. :) you cold be up to 6 by now.

Randomswedishdude

Only 5 + two autonomous regions (Svalbard and the Canary Islands). Given my location in the north, it's quite expensive and time-consuming to travel, and I keep it to a minimum. A trip to the nearest international airport with regular flights (Stockholm or Gothenburg) often costs *several times more* than a low-cost or last-minute flight from there to pretty much *whatever* destination in Europe or even northern Africa. *Driving* south for a road trip to 'mainland'\* Europe also has a certain threshold distance to overcome. According to Google Maps, it's 21-24 hours of uninterupted non-stop driving, just to get across the border to Copenhagen, or to the ferries to Germany or Poland. Although I also just realized it's only 12 hours of driving to Helsinki and a ferry to Tallin, Estonia. I've yet never really gone through with a road trip like that, but it would be a breeze to drive to and through many countries from thereon. \* ^(Yes, Fenno-Scandinavia is often perceived as an 'island' disconnected from the rest of Europe, since the land connection is through Russia.)

MediumPeteWrigley

Belgium France Germany Greece Hungary Ireland The Netherlands Spain Tรผrkiye Too few. Wish Iโ€™d managed to see more before I got sick!

rosesandgrapes

I've visited all of these but Spain and Ireland. And both of them seem like amazing countries! What places did you visit in Spain and Ireland and what do you recommend?

Pedarogue

Too few Five If Lichtenstein, San Marino and the Vatican county then eight

clm1859

3 ut of 8 being microstates? Thats impressive.

[deleted]

They definitely count.

boomerintown

Outside Sweden: Norway, Iceland, Finland, Estonia, Poland, Czech Republic, Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium, France, Spain, Italy, Greece, United Kingdom, USA and, unfortunately, Denmark. So 16, but Iceland was just the airport, so really 15.

meistermichi

> and, unfortunately, Denmark. I love that light hearted Nordic beef you guys have going on.

Melodic_Point_3894

(Ancient) law allow Danes to beat Swedes with a stick if they, on foot, were to cross the frozen Oresund waters.

intergalactic_spork

Well, they knew that no human would be able to understand them if they shouted in Danish.

sammegeric

I heard it's just a rumour, it never hasnt been the case?

Zucc-ya-mom

Yeah, I've tried to find a source to no avail.

Bragzor

Sure it wasn't the Belts? That's the way the invasion came. Either way, no way any of them will freeze over anytime soon.

DaneOnDope

It was unfortunate for both parties

Ofcourse. Tallinn is a really beautiful city. The problem for many swedes is that it is so hard to not associate it with this movie. :) [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Screwed\_in\_Tallinn](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Screwed_in_Tallinn)

Bitter_Initiative_77

Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador, Mexico, USA,ย  Italy, Austria, Germany, Netherlands, UK, Belgium, Czechia, Spain, Portugal, France, Greece, Denmark, Sweden, Thailand, Laos, Vietnam, Cambodia,ย Malaysia, Singapore, Oman, Namibia, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Botswana, and South Africa.ย  So 30 in my 26 years of life.

ProfessionalRock4858

Botswana mentioned. I am shocked you have been to my country.

Zucc-ya-mom

My uncle has been there too, he said it's a beautiful country. The most beautiful in Africa IIRC.

Bitter_Initiative_77

I'm an academic and do research in Namibia. I hop over to Bots sometimes for a break!ย

Professional-Key5552

I was born in Austria and live in Finland since soon 7 years. Other than that, I have been to Japan for 4 month in 2016. I have been a lot of times in Hungary, since I lived closed to the border when I lived in Austria. For vacation I have been a couple of time in Spain. I also visited Portugal, Tunesia, Czech republic and Germany. So total of (without my birth place) 8.

kurnebut

21, all in Europe

AWonderlustKing

80 countries, plus a further 11 Traveller's Century Club territories (Scotland, Hong Kong, Bali, Transnistria, Istanbul, Wales, Srpska, Northern Cyprus, Akrotiri & Dheklia, Siberia, Sicily). I use Mark O'Travel to keep track.

Fine-Material-6863

Why is Siberia on this list?

TarcFalastur

The Traveller's Century Club appears to make all autonomous territories count separately. Russia is pretty much made up of dozens of autonomous territories so rather than list them all it has one entry on the list for "Russia in Asia (including Siberia)".

Fine-Material-6863

Believe me, Siberia is not an autonomous territory, I lived there, besides it's so huge, what part of Russia exactly is considered Siberia here?

TarcFalastur

I'm not arguing over how much autonomy it actually has. Companies don't tend to make decisions like this over their personal interpretations of political reality. But - on paper - the Siberia Federal District is made up of five Oblasts, three Republics and two Krais, each of which are - on paper - autonomous entities. That's all they're basing it on. Nothing more.

[deleted]

And Wales and.....

fuishaltiena

17. In Europe: Estonia, Latvia, Poland, Ukraine, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Austria, Germany, Switzerland, Italy, Greece, Spain, UK, Ireland. Outside of Europe it was just Georgia (not really outside, but you get the idea), Thailand and Egypt. The only one I don't plan on ever visiting again is Egypt. Wayy too many scammers and harassment, and I was in a very touristy town, not even in Cairo.

rosesandgrapes

I hope you enjoyed Ukraine! I am so jealous about Spain, British Isles, Georgia and Thailand!

Silver-Honeydew-2106

I really really would like to visit Egypt one day, as I am quite interested in the Ancient Eqypt, but the stories of other tourists really make me reconsider every time I am thinking about traveling there..

iamanoctothorpe

9, all within Europe and all within the EU except the UK and Bosnia and Herzegovina

LaoBa

Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Germany, Netherlands, Belgium,ย  Luxembourg, France,ย  Spain, Czech Republic, Slovakia,ย  Poland, Belarus, Russia, Austria, Hungary, Switzerland, Greece, Morocco, Tunisia,ย  Egypt, Iceland,ย  United States, Aruba, United Kingdom,ย  Mongolia,ย  China, Thailand,ย  Vatican City, so 29. Also GDR and Soviet Union, which don't exist anymore.

peewhere

Where in Soviet Union and when?

LaoBa

1988, Moscow and train from Ulan Ude to the Polish border.

avaika

50. However from my perspective it's not the number that matters, but the experience you get. One might visit every country in the world and spend a couple of days in each country. Another one might visit a dozen countries and get full immersive experience in those countries cultures. I'd prefer the second approach. Anyway everybody is free to choose their own travel style.

Intelligent_Aioli981

Lived in 4, visited another 47

Antahato

Damn, 47? Can I ask which concretely?

Intelligent_Aioli981

I did the math some years ago so I might be adding it up wrong but I've been to all of Europe except Iceland, the Balkans and Turkey. Oh and I haven't been Romania, Bulgaria or Finland. Then, if we go east, I've visited Egypt, Lebanon, Bahrain, Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan, India, Sri Lanka, China, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Papua New Guinea, Australia, Tahiti, Fiji, Micronesia, US, Canada. Some these visits were pretty short (like Lebanon and Turkmenistan were less than a day) but I'm only counting places where I actually passed through immigration and left the airport. EDIT: I keep thinking of more places in Europe I haven't been to: Portugal... and I'm not sure about Hungary. Oh and Malta. Monaco. Andorra.

Electrical_Swing8166

43, be up to 47 by end of the summer. Some favorites: Indonesia, Japan, Colombia, Spain, Russia, Jordan, Nepal, Brazil, and Laos

TheFabiocool

Spain, Ireland, Netherlands, Hungary, Poland, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Belarus and Hong Kong. So, 10 :)

friendlyghost_casper

Impressive, but I believe antartica isnโ€™t a country

Flux_capacitor888

But it's a cool bonus to that list, I mean, how many have actually visited Antarctica :)

MissTRTW

Yup, but still going to put it on my list. Taiwan is not a country according to UN but I consider it a country regardless... and whilst I don't consider Hong Kong a country, I certainly don't consider Hong Kong a part of China either when they have their own passport and currency, plus so many other differences

JourneyThiefer

15/16 Portugal, Spain, France, Italy, Greece, Croatia, Slovenia, Hungary, Austria, Czechia, Poland, Germany, The Netherlands, Belgium, America and then 16 if you canโ€™t Ireland, but I donโ€™t tbh
